All corrupts are assembling in Delhi: Bihar BJP chief slams Nitish
While Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is on a political tour of Delhi to unite the opposition leaders, Bihar BJP president Samrat Chaudhary on Thursday took a dig at him and said that all “corrupts are assembling” there.
“Nitish Kumar went to Delhi and fell on the feet of Lalu Prasad Yadav. Then he went to meet Rahul Gandhi and then Arvind Kejriwal. If you see them, all are involved in corruption. They are the symbol of corruption in the country,” Chaudhary said.
When asked about the opposition unity in the country, Chaudhary said: “Someone uploaded a photo with a caption of Kharge Ji wanting to become president, Rahul Gandhi is Prime Minister, Nitish Kumar is Prime Minister and Tejashwi Yadav is chief minister. If two people are claiming the post of PM, how will Nitish Kumar’s opposition unity mission become successful?” Chaudhary said.
“If they had unanimously elected one person for the post of PM and the face of opposition parties, it would be logical but they are actually fighting against each other. Hence, how will opposition unity be successful?” Chaudhary said.
Nitish Kumar’s meeting with opposition leaders in Delhi has drawn sharp criticism from the BJP. The Bihar CM during the press conferences in Delhi denied that he has any wish to become PM of the country.
3 action directors come together for Salman-SRK action sequence in ‘Tiger 3’

‘Harry Potter’ series adaptation to be made for TV, will feature entirely new cast
A ‘Harry Potter TV series is officially moving forward at HBO Max.
The announcement was made during Warner Bros. Discovery’s presentation to the press and investors on April 12, during which it was announced that HBO Max and Discovery+ are officially being combined into a new service dubbed simply Max, reports ‘Variety’.
News of a show based on the megahit J.K. Rowling’s book series first leaked on April 3, but details have now been confirmed.
Each season of the show will be based on one of the books in the franchise, with Warner Bros. Discovery describing the show as a “decade-long series.” It will feature an entirely new cast from the films.
“We are delighted to give audiences the opportunity to discover Hogwarts in a whole new way,” said Casey Bloys, chairman and CEO of HBO & Max Content.
“Harry Potter is a cultural phenomenon and it is clear there is such an enduring love and thirst for the Wizarding World. In partnership with Warner Bros. Television and J.K. Rowling, this new Max Original series will dive deep into each of the iconic books that fans have continued to enjoy for all of these years.”
Max will produce in association with Bronte Film and TV, and Warner Bros. Television. Rowling will executive produce along with Neil Blair and Ruth Kenley-Letts. David Heyman is currently in talks to executive produce.
“Max’s commitment to preserving the integrity of my books is important to me, and I’m looking forward to being part of this new adaptation which will allow for a degree of depth and detail only afforded by a long-form television series,” said Rowling.
The announcement brings an end to years of speculation on whether or not the Wizarding World of Harry Potter would make the transition to TV. Variety reported in 2021 that the company was looking to develop a “Harry Potter” show.
The franchise has proven incredibly popular across a wide range of media.
The first book in the series, ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’ was originally published in 1997. The final book, ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’, debuted in 2007.
In addition to the books, each of which was a bestseller, there have been eight ‘Harry Potter films to date, which have collectively grossed more than $7.7 billion at the global box office.
There is also the ‘Fantastic Beasts film franchise, theme park attractions, toys, and games, including the recently launched video game ‘Hogwarts Legacy’.
There is also the hit Broadway show ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’, which serves as a sequel to the book series.
IPL 2023: Jos Buttler is No.1 batter in world at the moment, says Harbhajan Singh
Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh lavished praise on Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Jos Buttler for playing a match-winning knock against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in an IPL 2023 match on a spin-friendly track in Chennai and called the English opener the ‘number 1’ batter in the world.
Royals put up a splendid show and held their nerve to record their first win at the MA Chidambaram Stadium since 2008 as they beat CSK by three runs on Wednesday night.
Batting first, Buttler (52 off 36) led the charge with his third fifty of the season while Devdutt Padikkal (38), R Ashwin (30), and Shimron Hetmyer (30 not out) chipped in with valuable contributions to help the team post a competitive total of 175/8 in 20 overs.

S.Korea top court orders Google to disclose shared personal data
The Supreme Court here ruled on Thursday that Google must disclose the list of personal information it has shared with third parties, including United States intelligence.
In 2014, four South Korean activists filed a lawsuit against the global tech giant and its local affiliate, Google Korea, demanding to know whether their personal information had been shared with a third party.
Under South Korean law, online service providers must respond to a customer’s request to disclose any record of their personal data being shared with a third party, reports Yonhap news agency.
An appeals court had earlier partially sided with the plaintiffs but ruled that Google has the right to reject the demand on issues that can be kept private in accordance with the relevant US laws.
The Supreme Court, however, partially overturned the previous rulings and sent the case back to the Seoul High Court for a retrial.
The highest court said that even if personal information was provided to foreign intelligence agencies for probable cause, the service provider must notify the users of such acts when that cause terminates.
The plaintiff alleged Google passed on the private information of its users, including those that live outside the US, to an American government intelligence program known as PRISM.
PRISM trawls the Internet for email and chat records of anyone who has contacts in the US.
The program made global headlines after former US intelligence contractor Edward Snowden divulged its existence.
Meanwhile, South Korea’s antitrust regulator this week slapped a fine of 42.1 billion won (more than $31.8 million) on Google and its regional arms for unfair business practices aimed at solidifying its dominance in the Korean mobile gaming app market.
Bank of Canada maintains policy rate at 4.5%
The Bank of Canada has held its target for the benchmark interest rate at 4.5 percent.
In a statement on Wednesday, the central bank said that its governing council continues to assess whether monetary policy is sufficiently restrictive to relieve price pressures and remains prepared to raise the policy rate further if needed to return inflation to the 2 percent target, Xinhua news agency.
The bank said it is also continuing its policy of quantitative tightening to complement its restrictive stance.
According to the bank, Canada’s CPI inflation eased to 5.2 percent in February and its preferred measures of core inflation were just under 5 percent.
The Bank of Canada said it expects CPI inflation to fall quickly to around 3 percent in the middle of this year and then decline more gradually to the 2 percent target by the end of 2024.
However, getting inflation the rest of the way back to 2 percent could prove to be more difficult because inflation expectations are coming down slowly, service price inflation and wage growth remain elevated, and corporate pricing behavior has yet to normalize, the bank said.
Economic growth in the first quarter looks to be stronger than was projected in January, with a bounce in exports and solid consumption growth. It is projected to be weak through the remainder of this year before strengthening gradually next year, it added.
According to the central bank, Canada’s economy is projected to grow by 1.4 percent this year and 1.3 percent in 2024 before picking up to 2.5 percent in 2025.

Varun Dhawan announces second installment of ‘Bhediya’
Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan has announced the second part of the horror-comedy film ‘Bhediya’.
Varun made the announcement at the Jio Studios event on Wednesday. The actor went on stage, and a poster of the film ‘Bhediya 2’ was unveiled.
He was also seen making the wolf sound which he had been doing during the promotions of ‘Bhediya’, which was released last year.
Details about the second installment are still under wraps.
Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon-starrer ‘Bhediya’ was directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Dinesh Vijan. It is the third installment in Vijan’s horror-comedy universe.
Monte Carlo Masters: Medvedev sinks Sonego, sets up first clay court meet with Zverev
Daniil Medvedev continued his impressive form as the third seed made a winning start to his Monte-Carlo Masters 2023 campaign, beating dangerous free-hitting Italian Lorenzo Sonego 6-3, 6-2 to reach the third round of the ATP Masters 1000 event.
Medvedev was dialed in from the start of his first clay-court match of the year. He moved into an early 3-0 lead with the help of some delightful early touches at the net and he stayed typically relentless from the baseline throughout to seal an 89-minute victory on Wednesday.
“Every match is a struggle (on clay), but I have had some good matches on clay. I managed to play well against a very strong player on clay. Lorenzo is very strong. Medvedev, who has lifted hard-court trophies in Rotterdam, Doha, Dubai, and Miami during his recent impressive run this season, moved on to a third-round showdown against Alexander Zverev. The 13th seed German earlier eased past Roberto Bautista Agut 6-4, 6-4.
Despite their long history, the duo has met 13 times in competitive matches but the two have never met on clay courts. Thursday’s match will be the pair’s first meeting on clay.
“We’ve had some tough matches. We played on the ATP Tour for the first time maybe seven years ago, and in juniors maybe 12 years ago. I remember I beat him once in a final on clay in juniors, but it will be a different story. I saw him in the first two matches, he seemed to be in good shape. I’m just going to have to be at my best.” said Medvedev, who leads Zverev 7-6 in the ATP Head-to-Head record.

Over 150 AI chatbot apps launched in Q1, user spending up 4,000%
After the ChatGPT success, apps with the term ‘AI Chatbot’ or ‘AI Chat’ in either their app name, subtitle, or description on both Google and Apple app stores have increased a whopping 1,480 percent (year-over-year) in the first quarter of this year.
According to analytics firm Apptopia, just this year (through March), 158 such apps have arrived in the app stores.
Downloads of AI chatbot apps increased by 1,506 per cent, and in-app purchase (IAP) revenue surged by 4,184 per cent, year-over-year, in the first quarter.
“The public launch of OpenAI’s ChatGPT product has created a consumer-facing artificial intelligence gold rush, including in the realm of mobile apps,” said Adam Blacker, VP, of Insights at Apptopia.
The top 10 AI chatbot apps were responsible for 52 percent of all AI chatbot app downloads and 72 per cent of their IAP revenue in Q1 2023.
“Like most of these apps, Genie generates revenue by charging users to uncap the app’s usage. Genie is the second most downloaded and second highest revenue-generating AI chatbot app so far in 2023,” Blacker informed.
Most of these apps are made by independent developers and are eventually likely to be surpassed by bigger brands like Microsoft and Google due to their marketing power and brand familiarity.
Microsoft’s search app has already been rebranded as Bing — Your AI copilot.
Since the announcement of its integration with Open AI’s ChatGPT, Bing’s average daily downloads have increased by 1,000 percent, the report mentioned.

Rajasthan Royals made it two wins in a row as they beat Chennai Super Kings by 3 runs in a thrilling Match 17 of IPL 2023.
“Rajasthan Royals have been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during their TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match 17 against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai on Wednesday,” the IPL said in a statement.
“As it was the team’s first offense of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offenses, captain Sanju Samson was fined Rs 12 lakhs,” it added.
Jos Buttler (52 off 36) and the spinners starred as Rajasthan survived a laate onslaught from MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja to edge CSK in a thrilling contest.
Buttler was ably supported by Devdutt Padikkal (38 off 26), R Ashwin (30 off 22), and Shimron Hetmyer (30 off 18) as RR posted a competitive 175/8.
The RR spinners then got into the act, choked the CSK batters, and picked up regular wickets in the middle overs before Sandeep Sharma held his nerve to defend 21 off the last over against the rampaging Dhoni and Jadeja.
N.Korea fires ballistic missile: Seoul military
North Korea fired a ballistic missile toward the East Sea on Thursday, escalating tensions amid its continued refusal to answer what used to be daily cross-border calls, the South Korean military said.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said it detected the launch in the vicinity of Pyongyang at 7.23 a.m., and the missile, fired at a lofted angle, flew about 1,000 km before splashing into the water, reports Yonhap News Agency.
“The intelligence authorities of South Korea and the US are conducting a comprehensive analysis on its detailed specifications,” the JCS added.
The North appears to have tested a “new” missile system, a Seoul official said, adding that the allies are looking into “various” possibilities, including the launch having involved a solid-propellant intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).
South Korea’s presidential National Security Council (NSC) “strongly” denounced the North’s launch of a ballistic missile, while the US NSC called the launch an “ICBM” test.
Seoul officials said the latest launch might have been aimed partially at flaunting the North’s nuclear force ahead of the 111th birth anniversary of the late Kim Il-sung, the North’s national founder and the current leader’s grandfather, on Saturday, and protesting the deterrence efforts by Seoul and Washington.
The North’s last launch involving an intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM) or a longer-range one was that of a Hwasong-17 ICBM on March 16.
This week’s launch came amid speculation that the reclusive regime could fire a long-range rocket to put its first military satellite into orbit given its professed plan to finish preparations for the launch by this month.
Since April 7, the North has not responded to routine cross-border calls through inter-Korean liaison and military communication lines, raising concerns that the absence of regular contact could lead to provocations by the reclusive regime.
Pyongyang has recently ratcheted up tensions through hardening rhetoric and other provocative moves, such as the testing of what it claimed to be underwater nuclear attack drones.
India concerned about global economic outlook, says Nirmala Sitharaman
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that despite this year’s projected growth rate of over 6 percent for the Indian economy, it remains concerned about the global economic outlook and geopolitical environment.
She made the remarks on Wednesday while attending the Development Committee meeting of the World Bank-IMF Spring Meeting 2023 in Washington D.C.
