Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra likely to offer 25W fast charging support

0

South Korean tech giant Samsung may launch its next-generation flagship smartphone — Galaxy S23 Ultra — with 25W fast charging support.

The successor to the S22 Ultra is expected to launch around January or February of 2023. However, the device has already appeared on the 3C listing revealing its charging details, reports GizmoChina.

According to the listing, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has the model number SM-S9180. It has support for at least 25W fast charging.

The company used a charger with model number EP-TA800 for the tests. However, because the Galaxy S22 Ultra didn’t include a charger in the box, it is highly unlikely that the S23 Ultra will offer a charger in the box.

It is important to note that the Galaxy S22 Ultra supports 15W wireless charging as well as 45W fast charging.

Samsung may improve the S23 Ultra’s charging specifications and introduce 45W fast charging, exactly like it did with its predecessor, the report said.

It is expected that the Galaxy S23 Ultra will receive some minor improvements over the S22 Ultra.

The screen will be curved, and the 40MP front camera will have a hole-punch cutout in the top center. A new 200MP main camera could be on the back.

It is possible that the other three camera sensors won’t change. This means that the 12MP ultrawide camera, 12MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and 12MP telephoto camera with 10x optical zoom will all be included on the S23 Ultra.

Under the hood, the device will house the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. It won’t be surprising if the device comes with an Exynos chipset in some regions.

Right-wing coalition leads Italy’s snap parliamentary polls

0

A right-wing coalition is projected to win Italy’s snap parliamentary elections, projections based on partial results revealed on Monday.

The nationalist Brothers of Italy, led by Giorgia Meloni, was the most voted party garnering 24.7 percent of the ballots cast on Sunday, according to projections provided by Consorzio Opinio Italia pollster and published by state TV Rai News 24.

If confirmed, Meloni would most likely become the first woman to serve as the country’s Prime Minister in the most right-wing government Italy has had in some 70 years, reports Xinhua news agency.

Meloni’s two coalition allies — Matteo Salvini’s League party and former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi’s center-right Forza Italia — would win 8.7 percent and 8 percent, respectively.

Centre-left Democratic Party (PD) led by former Prime Minister Enrico Letta — the main force in the center-left alliance — was projected as the second most-voted party with 19 percent of the vote.

The Brothers of Italy and the PD were the leading forces within the main contenders in the campaign, namely a right-wing coalition and a center-left alliance, respectively.

Populist Five Star Movement (M5S), which ran alone in the campaign, would gain around 16.7 percent, while a smaller centrist force made of two parties — Azione and Italia Viva — would secure about 7.3 percent of the vote.

Salvini’s League party and Forza Italia — both allies of the Brothers of Italy — followed with 8.5 percent to 12.5 percent and 6 percent to 8 percent, respectively.

In light of partial data available, Rai News 24 reported that the right-wing alliance would control both houses of the next parliament, garnering 227-257 of the 400 seats in the Chamber of Deputies, or the lower house, and 111-131 of the Senate’s 200 seats.

The snap elections were called after a national unity government, led for 17 months by Mario Draghi, collapsed in July after the center-right parties and the M5S withdrew their support.

The main commitment of Draghi’s cabinet was to put in place key reforms contained in the national resilience and recovery plan as agreed with the European Union in order to receive some 200 billion euros ($193 billion) by 2026, as part of the bloc’s post-Covid recovery plan.

This would remain a key task for the next government, as the funds were being disbursed in tranches according to a specific reform implementation timetable.

Over 50 million citizens, including some 4.7 million living abroad, were eligible to cast their ballots on Sunday to choose the 400 deputies and 200 senators that will form the two houses of the next parliament.

For the first time ever, as a result of recent constitutional reform, 18-year-olds in the country will be allowed to vote to elect the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies.

This applied to almost 2.7 million young citizens who have just come of age, according to the Interior Ministry.

Vote counting began soon after the closure of all polling stations on Sunday, but final results will not come out until later Monday.

Amit Shah was instrumental in removing Article 370: BJP leader

At a time when the leaders of the ruling Mahagathbandhan in Bihar are training their guns at Union Home Minister Amit Shah following his visit to Seemanchal on Friday, Nikhil Anand, state BJP spokesperson and national general secretary of the party’s OBC wing, lauded Shah for playing an instrumental role in removing Articles 370 and 35A from Jammu and Kashmir.

“After Amit Shah’s visit to Seemanchal, many of the grand alliance leaders are having headache and stomach ache. After seeing the way scores of people turned out for his rally in Purnea, the leaders of the Mahagathbandhan are feeling uneasy due to the popularity of Amit Shah,” Anand said.

Reacting to the statement of RJD’s Lalan Singh, who had said that when he was involved in the JP movement in 1974, Amit Shah was just 10 years old, Anand said: “Amit Shah is the young generation leader of the country and his fame is acknowledged across the world ever since he removed Articles 370 and 35A from Jammu and Kashmir, which granted special status to the erstwhile state of J&K.

“Similarly, during the JP movement, some small stature leaders were following the big leaders and entertaining them. At present, some of the self-declared ‘Chutbhaiye Netas’ (small time leaders) are claiming to be JP commanders.”

“It is unfortunate that the real heroes of the JP movement are deprived of the JP pension scheme and the self-declared fake leaders of the movement are enjoying power being part of the government. The soul of Jay Prakash Narayan must be in deep pain after seeing the selfishness of the leaders of the ruling government,” Anand said.

Democrats face tough prospects in battleground Pennsylvania

0

Soaring inflation is high on the agenda for voters and that’s troubling for the Democrats in the midterms for the house of reps, just two months away in November, which promises to be a new defining moment in politics that could change the course of the history of the country with both parties seem equally divided on the voter’s choice.

MAGA Republicans tearing the BBB initiatives of Joe Biden on inflation upsetting daily life of Americans with budgeting woes seems to be producing a disconnect between democrats string of legislative successes and voters concern of the high cost of living in the battleground state of Pennsylvania where democrats have high stakes in the gubernatorial, mayoral and congressional candidates.

Though the Washington administration is touting the inflation reduction act, climate change and lowering prescription prices of drugs, waiver of college students’ debts, and cheaper health care by insurance companies, a small-town Pennsylvania is not too taken in by the positive economic change.

That disconnect could spell trouble for Democrats, says BBC in an analysis of the election scenario for the midterms scheduled for November 8.

The Democratic Party has borne the brunt of Americans’ fury over the soaring inflation, and insiders have warned that voters must be convinced the economy is improving if Democrats hope to stave off major losses in the midterms, BBC said.

Though the president’s party scored policy wins in the final weeks of summer — passing long-sought climate legislation that, they claim, also addresses inflation, and announcing student loan debt relief for millions — Democrats are expected to lose the majority they hold in at least one chamber of Congress, the BBC predicts.

Those policy wins aren’t yet connecting with voters like Tina Jordan, who told BBC News that rising prices had cut into her profits. Tina Jordan, 55, was “totally against” Donald Trump for president in 2016.

A registered Democrat in the crucial swing state of Pennsylvania, she went for Hillary Clinton, though Trump ultimately won the state that year, delivering him the White House.

But in 2020, Jordan changed her mind and voted for Trump because his presidency, she confessed, coincided with “the best I’ve been in a long time, financially”.

She will “probably vote for Trump again” if he runs in 2024, she said – two years into Joe Biden’s presidency, Jordan didn’t think he was “in touch with small business owners” like herself.

Pennsylvania is the top prize in this year’s November mid-term elections, with Democrats fighting to gain a seat in the US Senate and keep a candidate away who backs Trump’s false claim that the 2020 election was stolen out of the governor’s mansion.

Biden, who has long touched on his middle-class Pennsylvania roots and made his ties to the state a part of his political identity, has been trumpeting his economic record there. At a speech in Philadelphia this month, he declared that “today, America’s economy is faster, stronger than any other advanced nation in the world”.

However, Jordan’s concerns about her financial stability were echoed by voters throughout Pennsylvania, with Biden and Trump supporters alike concerned about the continued high cost of everyday living and disillusioned with leaders in Washington.

“You got a lot of folks in Pennsylvania that are worried about what’s right in front of them,” said Mustafa Rashed, a Philadelphia-area Democratic strategist. “It’s harder to get people involved in the voting process. You’re competing for their attention with pocketbook issues.”

Washington’s victories aren’t felt on the ground, says BBC. Republicans have hammered Democrats in local races over inflation and the cost of basic necessities, trying to pin the blame for a complex economic issue on the party in power.

Recent polling shows that Democrats’ midterm prospects have improved since the party’s late-summer policy spurt.

They have gotten a boost since the fall of Roe v Wade made abortion access a major election-year issue. Surveys taken in Pennsylvania consistently show the Democratic candidate for the US Senate, John Fetterman, and governor, Josh Shapiro, running slightly ahead of their respective Republican rivals, Dr. Oz and Doug Mastriano.

Telangana’s 16 municipalities bag Swachh Survekshan-2022 awards

Telangana has once again bagged a huge number of Swachh Survekshan awards.

This year, 16 Urban Local Bodies (ULB), in the state have bagged Swachh Survekshan awards 2022 which will be presented in Delhi on October 1.

Selection for the awards was conducted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs which gave star ratings for the resolution of issues related to sanitation, and a garbage-free city, for the period July 2021 to January 2022.

A total of 90 topics were considered in the selection of the awards.

The awards have been announced in the categories of solid Waste Management, community level composting, public toilets, liquid waste management, awareness levels among people, management of community toilets, citizen engagement, innovation, and others.

Adibatla, Badangpet, Boothpur, Chandur, Chitral, Gajwel, Ghatkesar, Husnabad, Kompally, AKoratla, Kothapalli, Neredcherla, Sircilla, Turkayamjal and Vemulawada municipalities, and Secunderabad Cantonment have bagged the awards.

Minister for municipal administration and urban development, K.T. Rama Rao has congratulated all officials and employees of the ULBs.

He said that several programs were taken up for the improvement of cities under the direction of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

Rama Rao said the achievement was possible because of CM KCR’s vision for the all-around development of urban local bodies in the state.

A lot of development is witnessed in towns and cities because of the state government’s pioneering Pattana Pragathi program and the new Municipal Act.

KTR said that the awards bagged over consecutive years are a testament to Telangana’s commitment to the all-around development of cities.

He claimed that the state is already a role model to the country with its pioneering policies and programs.

He added that the nationwide recognition, the Swachh Survekshan Awards, shows that Telangana is certainly a role model in urban development and administration too.

Laver Cup: Berrettini fires Team Europe back in front against Team World

0

Matteo Berrettini fired Team Europe back in front against Team World at the Laver Cup after he edged Felix Auger-Aliassime 7-6(11), 4-6, 10-7 to move his side into a 4-2 lead, here on Saturday.

In a hard-fought battle, the Italian caused damage with his aggressive forehand, while he hit his backhand slice with great depth to keep the Canadian at bay.

The World No.15 saved one break point in the first set, before raising his level on serve in the Match Tie-break to seal victory after two hours and 15 minutes.

“It is always a great fight against Felix. We played for two hours and 15 minutes and he is a hell of a player. I had to play my best tennis in the [Match] Tie-break to win. I am really happy because I didn’t win just for me but for the team,” Berrettini said in his on-court interview.

The 26-year-old now leads Auger-Aliassime 4-1 in their ATP head-to-head series, having defeated the 22-year-old at the Laver Cup last year. Cameron Norrie will look to extend Team Europe’s lead when he faces American Taylor Fritz in the second match of the afternoon session.

Captain Bjorn Borg is aiming to guide Team Europe to its fifth consecutive Laver Cup title against John McEnroe’s Team World this week in the UK capital.

The sides ended the first-day level after Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe clawed past Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in the Swiss star’s final tour-level match on Friday night. Each victory on Saturday is worth two points.

National Games: Injured Sindhu to attend Opening Ceremony, to miss badminton competition in Surat

0

Two-time Olympic Games medallist PV Sindhu will attend the Opening Ceremony of the 36th National Games in Ahmedabad on September 29, despite pulling out of the Games because of an injury.

“It is unfortunate that I will not be competing in the Games due to my injury. Had I been fit, I would have definitely represented my State (Telangana),” Sindhu was quoted as saying by the organizing committee of the Games in a release on Saturday.

“The National Games is a great opportunity for all the athletes and everyone I have spoken to is excited about it. I am sure the badminton matches will be very exciting,” she said.

Sindhu, who is on the path to recovery after sustaining an ankle injury during the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in August, is however going to be in person in Gujarat for the Opening Ceremony on September 29 along with other mega sports stars. Badminton action begins in Surat on October 2.

Winner of silver in the 2016 Rio Games and of bronze in the Tokyo Olympics last year, Sindhu said she decided to pull out of the Games to take care of her health ahead of the Asian Games and Olympic qualifying period next year. “It is important that I take care of myself and focus on the challenges ahead in 2023 (Asian Games) and 2024 (Paris Olympics),” she explained.

Sindhu’s father PV Ramana, himself a volleyball international, said it was unfortunate that she could not compete in the National Games. “She was very keen to compete. Unfortunately, she cannot do so as her next review with the doctors and MRI will be in the first week of October,” he was quoted as saying in the release.

The injury on her left ankle has been described as a stress fracture. The treatment protocol revolves around affording the ankle rest. “I will be part of her rehab program. Having been a volleyball player, I know what it is to make heavy landings. I will pass on my experience to Sindhu once she resumes training,” said Ramana.

Not many knew Sindhu had actually got injured in Birmingham. “She did not talk about the injury and used conservative treatment to continue playing in the Commonwealth Games. It included icing, strapping the area on the advice of her coach, physios, and doctors,” said Ramana.

Sindhu could not compete in the World Championship in Japan recently as she was resting. As per her latest consultation with orthopedic experts in Hyderabad, she has been further advised to rest.

National Games, TT: Gujarat’s Harmeet, WB’s Sutirtha clinch men’s and women’s singles title

0

Gujarat’s Harmeet Desai and West Bengal’s Sutirtha Mukherjee clinched the men’s and women’s singles table tennis titles at the 36th National Games, here on Saturday.

Local hero Harmeet thrashed Haryana’s Soumyajit Ghosh 4-0 while Sutirtha proved too good for national champion Sreeja Akula, with the Olympian winning 4-1 in the women’s final.

Sutirtha ended the Games on a high with three gold medals — women’s singles, doubles, and team — while Harmeet and another Gujarat paddler Manush Shah now have two gold medals to show for their efforts.

Gujarat men had won the team gold, with Harmeet and Manush playing stellar roles in front of adoring crowds. The latter also clinched the mixed doubles title, partnering wife Krittwika Sinha Roy.

West Bengal emerged as the overall champions of the table tennis arena bagging four gold medals, one silver, and three bronze. Gujarat finished second with three gold and three bronze. Maharashtra finished third with one silver and four bronze medals.

The final day of the table tennis event well and truly belonged to Harmeet and Sutirtha as they vanquished top seeds G Sathiyan and Manika Batra in their respective semifinals before dominating the gold medal matches.

Harmeet, who had won the silver medal in Kerala seven years ago, wasn’t going to let go of another chance of standing atop the podium and began the match with an aggressive mindset. He kept Ghosh on the defensive by finding angles from both forehand and backhand shots to win 11-8, 11-4, 11-7, 11-8.

Sutirtha was equally clinical in quelling the attacking instinct of 2022 Commonwealth Games mixed doubles champion Sreeja, who had thrashed the likes of Ayhika Mukherjee and Diya Chitale on her way to the final.

Sreeja also ended up on the losing side in the mixed doubles final as she and partner FR Snehit were beaten in straight sets by Shah and Krittwika.

Earlier, Sutirtha had teamed up with Ayhika to defeat Karnataka’s Yashaswini Ghorpade and Kushi V in straight sets in the women’s doubles final.

West Bengal’s Jeet Chandra and Ronit Bhanja clinched the men’s doubles gold, beating statemates Arjun Ghosh and Anirban Ghosh in straight sets.

PM Modi set to gift 5G services to Indians on Oct 1

0

The National Broadband Mission (NBM) under the Ministry of Communications on Saturday tweeted (and later deleted) that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially roll out the 5G services in India on October 1 — the same day when the India Mobile Congress (IMC) kicks off which will heavily focus on 5G and related domains.

All the top telecom honchos — including Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani and Founder and Chairman of Bharti Enterprises Sunil Bharti Mittal — are scheduled to join the keynote address at the sixth edition of the IMC that will take place at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, from October 1-4.

“Taking India’s digital transformation & connectivity to new heights, Hon’ble PM, @narendramodi, will roll out 5G services in India; at India Mobile Congress; Asia’s largest technology exhibition,” read the screenshot of the tweet (now deleted from the NBM handle).

The event will see participation from telecom gear manufacturers and other industry stakeholders, in the presence of IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

According to sources, the government may showcase some successful 5G testbeds being run in the country by Reliance Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea at the IMC 2022, jointly organized by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI).

During his Independence Day address from the ramparts of the Red Fort, the Prime Minister said that the 5G services will be launched in India soon.

Vaishnaw last month said the government expects 5G services to be rolled out in the country by October 12, and the Centre will make sure that the prices are affordable for the consumers.

Vaishnaw said that installations are being done and telecom operations are busy with the seamless rollout of 5G services.

The government will ensure that the 5G plans remain affordable for the public, the minister said.

The 5G services would be rolled out in a phased manner and during the first phase, 13 cities are likely to get the 5G internet services.

The cities are Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Jamnagar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Pune.

Just like 3G and 4G, telcos will soon announce dedicated 5G tariff plans and according to industry experts, consumers may pay more to access the 5G services on their devices.

An immediate tariff war with the launch of 5G is unlikely, but it “will be competitive as India continues to be a price-conscious market”.

Instagram rolls out longer uninterrupted Stories for users

0

Meta-owned Instagram has rolled out a new feature globally that will allow users to upload longer uninterrupted Stories.

Currently, if an Instagram user uploads a Story that’s under 60 seconds, it is broken up into 15-second clips.

“Now, you’ll be able to play and create Stories continuously for up to 60 seconds, instead of being automatically cut into 15-second clips,” a Meta spokesperson told TechCrunch.

“We are always working on ways to improve the Stories experience,” the spokesperson added.

The viewers will also no longer have to continually tap to get through a long video that they may not actually want to see.

In addition, the ability to post longer uninterrupted Stories somewhat blurs the lines between Stories and Reels, as you now have two options when it comes to posting a 60-second video.

In June, Instagram added support for longer Reels of up to 90 seconds, up from the previous 60 second-limit.

Meta-owned photo-sharing platform Instagram is also testing a new Stories layout that hides excessive posts.

Users can currently post 100 Stories at once. While this number should remain the same despite the change, users who have received the update must tap a “Show All” button to see the rest of the Stories.

Otherwise, Instagram jumps to the next person’s Stories. This brings about a significant change in how Instagram Stories works.

Tamannaah Bhatia on how she bonds with co-actor Kusha Kapila

Bollywood actress Tamannaah Bhatia talked about her on-screen and off-screen bond with her co-actor Kusha Kapila in the movie ‘Plan A Plan B’ starring Riteish Deshmukh and also veteran actress Poonam Dhillon.

She said: “Through ‘Plan A Plan B’, we met for the very first time and became really good friends. In the movie, she plays the role of my best friend and somehow it got transcended into our real life as well. Now I have all the liberty to call her anytime and don’t have to check her Instagram to know where she is and what she is doing.”

Adding to the conversation, Kusha also mentioned how her social media post with Tamannaah went viral on ‘The Kapil Sharma Show.

“I remember once I partied with Tamannaah in Delhi and I posted a picture with her. To my surprise, my message box was full of men asking me to make them meet Tamannaah. But as most of them were my friends, I had my own way of handling them and broke their hearts by rejecting them at my level,” she added.

Ritesh Deshmukh, Tamannaah Bhatia, Poonam Dhillon, and Kusha Kapila are coming on Kapil’s show to promote their film. ‘The Kapil Sharma Show airs on Sony Entertainment Television.

Going behind the scenes at Nayanthara’s fairytale wedding

Streaming giant Netflix on Saturday dropped the dreamy teaser of actress Nayanthara’s wedding with director Vigensh Shivan, which will be showcased in a documentary titled ‘Nayanthara – Beyond The Fairytale’.

The teaser was unveiled at the streaming portal’s Tudum 2022 event, hosted by Zakir Khan and actor Prajakta Koli. The event announced the slate of upcoming Indian content in the event.

The over-a-minute teaser showcases Nayanthara, who is tagged as the “Lady Superstar” and Vigensh’s journey from dating to their marriage.

Talking about his ladylove, Shivan is heard saying: “She is a wonderful human being”.

The teaser slowly but beautifully moves towards her getting dolled up for her big day. She is seen sporting flowers on her hair and is dressed in red.

Talking about her journey, Nayanthara, who made it to the Forbes India “Celebrity 100” 2018 list in the teaser is heard saying: “When it all started, I had no idea how it would be. I was not a filmy kid. I am just a normal girl, who wants to give her 100 percent in whatever she does.”

The documentary is directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon. Nayanthara and Shivan were dating since 2015. The two got married in June 2022 in Mahabalipuram.

Batters will be after bowlers on every ball in a shortened game: Axar Patel

Apart from India captain Rohit Sharma’s unbeaten 20-ball 46 guiding India to a series-leveling six-wicket win over Australia in eight overs a side affair at Nagpur, left-arm spinner Axar Patel’s brilliant spell was very crucial in giving the hosts an early upper hand.

Patel’s two overs, one of which was bowled in the powerplay, went for only 13 runs. He kept things tight while ratting the stumps of Glenn Maxwell and Tim David and also bowled four dot balls to Matthew Wade, who had two unsuccessful tries at reverse sweeping him before getting a boundary on the third attempt.

“We were waiting in the dressing room for a long time. But even then, we were discussing plans and talking about the game being a small one (in terms of overs), and remaining switched on for the match. When you know it is a shortened game, the batters will be after the bowlers on every ball,” said Patel to leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal in a video posted by BCCI on their official website.

Patel went on to explain his thought process when the match was reduced to eight overs a side. “I try to keep things simple and don’t think about where the batter would try to hit me. So as a bowler, it was very important for me to be brave and stick to my line and length as well as to my strengths with the ball.”

“But in that process, if the batter does get a few runs, it is fine, and try not to move away from your plans. Even good deliveries go for boundaries, but my plan was to keep it tight, stump to stump, make some changes in field placements, and not give the batter any sort of room, which helped in getting wickets.”

Coming into the Indian team as a like-for-like replacement for an injured Ravindra Jadeja, Patel has been impactful with his bowling spells in both matches against Australia. In Mohali, where every bowler was going for plenty, Patel kept things tight with his deadly spell of 3/17 bringing India back in the match and ensuring that the side doesn’t miss Jadeja in the bowling department.

“We spinners keep talking in meetings and do the planning. I think in Mohali, I knew the conditions well, having played for Kings XI Punjab, and knew what type of balls would work well. Before I bowled my first ball that day, the fact that we batted first, we were aware of how the pitch behaved, with no real help for the bowlers.”

“Our plan was to just bowl wicket-to-wicket given how there was very little on the pitch for the bowlers. As the game progressed, I would see how the batters were trying to get some shots. On seeing that, I would wary of my line and length. I did see that they were trying to sweep against me and I bowled the yorker. Luckily, all of this happened as the planning worked,” concluded Patel.

With Friday’s match won by India, the three-match series is now level at 1-1 with the series decider against Australia to be played in Hyderabad on Sunday.

Rohit played with a measured approach, was a lot more selective with shots: Gavaskar

In a truncated eight-overs-a-side match between India and Australia at VCA Stadium, Nagpur, captain Rohit Sharma enthralled a capacity crowd by smashing four fours and as many sixes in his unbeaten 20-ball 46 with a strike rate of 230, guiding the hosts to a series-leveling six-wicket win.

Friday’s match saw Rohit bring out his trademark pulls and hooks, played with great ferocity, and also surpassed New Zealand opener, Martin Guptill, to become the leading six-hitting cricketer in men’s T20Is.

Legendary India batter Sunil Gavaskar was thoroughly impressed by Rohit’s blazing knock and leading the charge with the bat in the chase of 91, pointing out that the right-hander played with a measured approach and was selective in his shot selection.

“What you saw with Rohit today (Friday’s match) was a measured approach. It wasn’t anything where he was looking to defend, but he was being a lot more selective. And look, when he is playing those flick shots or the swivel pull shots, he is very good at that,” said Gavaskar on Star Sports after the match.

At the same time, Gavaskar was quick to mention what Rohit needs to be careful about to avoid getting out quickly. “Where he gets into trouble is where he is looking to play on the off-side, just tonks it up like that, that’s where he hits the ball up in the air rather than into the stands. That’s the only thing that he is going to watch out for.”

“Otherwise, when he is hitting it in his range, he has got absolutely no problems at all. That’s what he should be looking to do. Today (On Friday, it) was such a measured inning. He was waiting, cutting the ball, pulling, he was not going bang straight away. That is the reason why he batted so brilliantly.”

With Friday’s match won by India, the three-match series is now leveled at 1-1 with the series decider to be played in Hyderabad on Sunday.
