‘KGF 2’ producers to request AP govt for ticket price hike

With only a few days left over for the grand release of ‘KGF: Chapter 2’, the producers seem to be a bit worried about the ticket prices in the two Telugu states.

As the Yash-starrer doesn’t fall under the category of a regional movie in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the producers are not quite sure about the ticket prices.

The producers of ‘KGF 2’ are trying to have talks with the AP government for a ticket price hike and have quoted that their film justifies the government’s condition for a hike as it is a pan-India film and higher than the Rs 100 crore budget.

However, there is no clarity if the AP government applies the budget quote for a Kannada movie, yet.

On the other hand, the team is not yet sure about ticket prices or hikes in Telangana as well.

‘KGF 2’ is a pan-India Kannada movie, which is made on a massive budget. Looking at the buzz and craze around the ‘KGF franchise, the distributors have bought the film for record amounts, sources suggest.

So, to make reasonable profits in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the team needs to check on the current ticket prices in both the Telugu states.

Mahesh Babu does it again, comes to aid of 30 suffering children

Ram Charan and Jr NTR’s response to Rakhi Sawant while Karan ignores her

Actress Rakhi Sawant, who was present at the star-studded success party of ‘RRR’ in Mumbai, had taken the opportunity to interact with Ram Charan and Jr NTR.

Though it was a short conversation, the video of Ram Charan and NTR interacting with Rakhi has now become viral on social media.

The super excited Rakhi was spotted interacting with Ram Charan, as she congratulated him on the huge success of ‘RRR’. “Will you please do ‘Naatu Naatu’ step with me?”, Rakhi had requested Ram Charan.

As Ram Charan was among a huge crowd, he politely said that he could not dance.

Jr NTR, who was surrounded by hundreds of people, had also posed for a selfie video with Rakhi Sawant, as she is seen congratulating him for ‘RRR’.

This humble gesture by the biggest south Indian stars has caught much attention, as social media comments pour in.

Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar, on the other hand, had ignored Rakhi while she was literally seen trying to talk to him. Social media users were left wondering why he acted so coldly towards the actress.

FB group to conduct poetry competition on Mamata Banerjee

A Facebook group that is reportedly backed by the Trinamool Congress, has announced a poetry competition on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

According to the group called ‘Banglar Gorbo Mamata’, participants can submit their poetries with the hashtag #PoetryForDidi.

The participants can also directly send their poetries to the group’s inbox.

The group owners promise to feature the selected poetries on their timeline page.

“Here is a golden opportunity for the well-wishers of Didi. Write poetries with Didi as the subject. The selected poems of good literary quality will be featured on the page of Banglar Gorbo Mamata,” says a notification from the page.

A Trinamool Congress source said that following the advice of the vote-strategist Prasant Kishor’s I-PAC, Banglar Gorbo Mamata was floated to highlight the popular developmental schemes undertaken by the West Bengal government since it won the 2021 elections.

When contacted, state Water Resources Minister, Manas Ranjan Bhunia told IANS that there might be some specific reasons for this initiative which he is not aware.

“I do not handle these affairs and hence I am not in a position to comment on it,” he said.

41% Indian workers left jobs in past year, health top priority: Report

A staggering 41 percent of Indian employees left their jobs during the past year, indicating that the great reshuffle is here to stay as the last two years of the pandemic have fundamentally changed how we define the role of work in our lives, a new Microsoft report showed on Friday.

Two out of three employees in India are more likely to prioritize their health and wellbeing overwork now than before the pandemic, according to Microsoft’s ‘Work Trend Index’.

“The last two years have shown us how employees have learned to work differently and rethink their priorities. With the evolving mode of work here to stay, we are now at a long-awaited inflection point: the lived experience of hybrid work,” the report noted.

We are not the same people that went home to work in early 2020.

This year, nearly 65 percent of workers in India are likely to consider changing employers — from 62 percent in 2021.

The power dynamic is shifting, and perks like free food and a corner office are no longer what people value most.

For Gen Z and Millennials, there’s no going back.

The report revealed that 70 percent of Gen Zs and millennials in India are somewhat or extremely likely to consider changing employers this year, up 7 percent from last year.

In all, there’s no erasing the lived experience — and lasting impact — of the past two years.

“Flexibility and wellbeing are non-negotiables that companies can’t afford to ignore. The best leaders will create a culture that embraces flexibility and prioritizes employee wellbeing,” the report noted.

About his love for Gujarat, the superstar says, “I love everything about Gujarat – its culture, its vibrancy, its zeal to be the best, and most importantly its people. Jr Women’s World Cup: India subdue South Korea 3-0; storm into semis

0

India came up with a clinical performance to subdue South Korea 3-0 and storm into the semifinals of the FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup 2021 at the northwest University grounds here on Friday.

Playing as a cohesive unit and maintaining their structure throughout the quarterfinal clash, the Indian girls dominated two-time champions Korea, who played well in defense but lacked the creative spark upfront to overcome the Indian defense.

Mumtaz Khan (10th minute), Lalrindiki (14th min), and Sangita Kumari scored the goals for India who now will meet the winner of the quarterfinal clash between three-time champions, the Netherlands, and hosts South Africa later in the day.

This is the second time that India has reached the semifinals in the FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup. In the 2013 edition, India had reached the last-4 before eventually settling for a bronze medal.

India started well and scored twice in the first quarter via Mumtaz Khan, who deflected in a penalty corner attempt in the 10th minute, and through forward Lalrindiki, who tapped in a rebound off a shot by Lalremsiami from near the goalmouth in the 14th minute.

They continued to dominate the second quarter too but could not add any more goals to the score. Mumtaz, Lalremsiami Beauty Dung Dung, and Sangita missed some great opportunities to score. While Mumtaz and Lalremsiami shot just wide, Sangita and Beauty were thwarted by the defenders as they went into the half-time break leading 2-0.

India, coached by Erik Wonink, continued in the same manner in the third quarter, and Lalremsiami, and Beauty Dung Dung were thwarted in their attempts.

However, Sangita made it 3-0 when she shot home a disguised short pass by Beauty to get past the Korean goalkeeper and a defender.

India could have made it 4-0 in the fourth quarter but Sangita Kumari struck the upright from a narrow angle after making a good run into the circle.

Overall, the Indian girls enjoyed 56 percent possession as compared to 44 by the Koreans and created three penalty corners, scoring off one, while their opponents had just one, of which they shot wide. India made 28 circle penetrations as compared to 10 by Korea and unleashed 15 shots at the goal as compared to just four by their opponents.

All in all, the stats reflect the true ebb and flow of the match as Salima Tete’s India set themselves up for a shot at the title.

Bailey rules out replacing Finch as limited-overs skipper; praises his leadership

0

Cricket Australia (CA) chief selector George Bailey has said that limited-overs skipper Aaron Finch is a leader and there were no plans to look for an alternative ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup to be hosted by Australia later this year.

Criticism has mounted after Finch’s string of poor performances, the latest being a below-par showing in the three-match One-day International series against Pakistan in Lahore, which the tourists lost 1-2. However, Finch finally struck form, scoring a half-century in the one-off T20I to end the subcontinent’s tour on a positive note.

Bailey said that there was plenty of time between now and the T20 World Cup in October-November for Finch to find form.

“The leadership he provides, the way that T20 team and the one-day team has been building, we’re starting to get some good buy-in to the way we want to play, on the back of the way the squad played in that T20 World Cup,” Bailey told cricket.com.au on Friday.

Under Finch, Australia won their maiden ICC T20 World Cup trophy in the UAE last year, defeating Trans-Tasmania neighbors New Zealand.

Bailey added that Finch’s return to form in the T20I game against Pakistan hadn’t come as a surprise. Finch’s 55 in a winning cause in the T20 game — his first half-century in 17 innings for the country — has eased the pressure on the 35-year-old ahead of Australia’s T20 World Cup title defense.

Asked whether he was relieved at Finch getting a half-century, Bailey said, “Not relieved — always know it’s coming with Finchy. He’s said it himself that he’d have liked to have contributed more… he’d like to be scoring more runs.

“We have so much cricket from now until that T20 World Cup and the build-up to the one-day World Cup that he’s got a great opportunity, and probably now a little bit of time to focus… on a couple of little technical things that he wants to work on, which is great,” said Bailey.

Finch went through a similarly poor run of form in the lead up to the 2019 and 2021 World Cups but after getting the backing of the selectors, he returned to his best.

“I’m confident Finchy will come good and be firing in the lead up to and including the World Cup,” added Bailey.

Yogi govt to start basic course in MSME

To inculcate and encourage business development skills in youth, the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh will soon start an online course in entrepreneurship.

The course will be conducted at the college level and will fetch a certificate for the participants on completion. The certification will be given by the MSME and export promotion departments.

Additional Chief Secretary, MSME, Navneet Sehgal, said that the course curriculum and modalities are being worked out.

“The idea is to make youth self-reliant by empowering them so that they don’t just become job-seekers but job creators,” he said.

Sehgal also said that besides providing the certificate, the 10-day course will also provide exposure visits and bank linkages for loans to translate ideas into action.

Joint commissioner MSME (exports and Lucknow Zone) Pawan Agarwal said that the certification opportunity will be included in the departmental app called MSME Sarthi.

“Two main reasons prompted the department to think about this. The chief minister’s priority to create jobs in the state is the first reason while demand for training and experience in certain schemes of Skill Development Mission and bank conditions to disburse loans is the second.”

The course will have general certifications besides advanced courses in specific areas like food processing, agricultural production, organic farming, and mechanical work in subsequent stages.

The department has also envisaged the idea of introducing entrepreneurial skills at the senior secondary level so that the foundation of their self-reliance is laid in the formative years.

In addition to the certification program, the MSME department has decided to double the seats under Mati Kala Board and Vishwakarma Shram Samman Scheme.

CLOSE-IN: A significant comparison between the stock market and the IPL

0

There is a comparable similarity between the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the stock market. The millions of followers, who throng both these, all wish to back a winner. The chance of success by investing in stocks and now in the fantasy games made popular through the IPL, is what keeps the masses of people engrossed and interested.

Both the IPL and the stock market are run by a handful of people who control the ups and downs that determine the luck of the people who follow them.

Like the IPL, the market too has its legends and stars whose moves are followed with intense seriousness. They are the masters of their domain. One looks at following their success.

The IPL auction of players is similar to the share prices in many ways. Valuation is the name of the game. The young stars are like the start-ups, whose abnormal valuation at times seems quite questionable, but forecasting their potential is a numbers game.

During the launch of an IPO, similar to that of the players’ auction, a flood of interest is generated and one wonders whether the price and the demand are sustainable. However, it does make some of them instantly famous and wealthy.

The initial placements of the IPOs are like the performance of the players, which is analyzed at the end of the season. The market value of some of them shrinks, whereas, many of the unknown stocks shine.

Rules and regulations are put in place for both the IPL and the stock market. Insider trading and match-fixing seem to somehow emerge even with strict security in place. Greed, as they say, has no limits. Gambling is a dreaded word that haunts both the sport and the business world.

The success of the IPL is very much based on the uncertainty of the game of limited-overs cricket, while insider trading seems to be the buzzword where the stock exchange is concerned.

It is interesting to note how the 10 IPL owners tend to have a correlation with the share and business market of India.

The most sought-after and valued company in all respects is the Reliance group. In the IPL, the Mumbai Indians (MI) have been the most successful team and it is owned by them. The performance of MI has consistently been the best and, even when one visualizes they may fail, they seem to find their way to the top. Both in business and cricket, Reliance has shown to be a successful bet.

Cement has always been a strong ingredient in the growing construction market of India. India Cements, the owners of the Chennai Super Kings, is no different. They have been the second-most consistent side in the IPL. The company and the IPL side are filled with old and loyal individuals who seem to give their last ounce of sweat to keep them always in the hunt to win the title.

The Jindals of Delhi, the Marans of Hyderabad, the Dabbers of Punjab, and the new entrant from Lucknow, the Sanjeev Goenka group, are the other business groups who have kept the market afloat but are still to taste the ultimate fruit of success.

Each one of their companies is flourishing in its respective segments. These family-owned corporate houses are all forceful bidders at the auction and one is pleased to see that they are strongly supported by their next inline young brigade.

To create a winning outfit, these young scions of the family, many of whom are educated abroad, bring in a touch of innovation and progressive thinking in their approach.

The likes of Preity Zinta, as well as Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla, the owners of Kolkata Knight Riders, bring the spotlight to the tinsel world. This is very similar to the likes of the stock market star, Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, whose every move is followed blindly. Their success story is what brings to the table millions of fan following and investors and this is what gives both the market and the IPL the flavor of glamour and hope. KKR has had success similar to their very owners. A few super-hits to boast about and performances of not much significance, thereafter.

The ‘King of good times, Vijay Mallya, brought a royal and rich image to the IPL. His presence was gigantic and, like his image, he controlled his franchise and everything around it as if it were his personal domain.

Harshad Mehta, the notorious stockbroker, too became the darling of the stock-broking world. However, both these super individuals fell prey to their own greed and fame. Royal Challengers Bangalore have many successful brands in their distillery portfolio as well as amongst their cricket stars. However, success seems to elude them as the weight of their top-class known performers seems to overshadow the rest of the team.

The IPL has a foreign touch to it as well. The successful entrepreneur from the United Kingdom, Manoj Badale, under the banner of Rajasthan Royals, was the one to strike gold. Winning the first IPL, paying the least amount to win a place amongst the mighty of the Indian Industry, was a surprise in itself.

He brought into the fray Shane Warne, and later Shilpa Shetty, to make his franchise an exciting one to follow. The Royals grew to become the team that seemed to encourage young entrepreneurs. They helped in making them into valuable assets similar to the newly-acquired stocks that create fortunes for their backers.

This year IPL has seen the entry of a foreign investor in CVC Capital Partners, the owners of the Gujarat Titans. They outbid one of India’s fastest-growing companies, the Adani Group, to get a place in the Indian Premier League.

CVC is known to have invested heavily in promoting volleyball, rugby, and motor racing and their presence will bring in a completely new perspective, one feels, to the IPL. They, similar to the foreign investing companies who flourish investing in the Indian stock market, will create wealth and valuation before they exit.

The Bombay stock market index in 2008 was hovering around the 15,000 mark and, like the IPL, has grown to 60,000 at present. One does see a similarity in the way both these institutions are climbing to the unknown peak of success.

Pankhuri Awasthi inspired by Aishwarya Rai for her role in ‘Gud Se Meetha Ishq’

‘Gud Se Meetha Ishq’ actress Pankhuri Awasthi talks about taking inspiration from Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for her role in the show.

Pankhuri says she premised her character Kaju from Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s character in the 1999 film ‘Taal’

The actress shares: “The title track of the show is very beautiful, and ‘Taal’ is the best in itself. When it comes to dancing to this song in the show, the first person who comes to mind is the renowned Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai. Because no one could have envisioned this song better than her.”

“Especially when during my recent photo shoot for the show ‘Gud Se Meetha Ishq’ I was shown a picture of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as a reference on how to pose in my Pahari look. So it’s not a stretch to say that I drew inspiration for Kaju from her. I hope that my character will be adored by the audience and that people will continue to love my character,” she adds.

The show, which is produced by Film Farm India, will soon transmit viewers to a new love story. Three Bhumihar candidates of RJD win MLC elections

While RJD national president Lalu Prasad Yadav did the politics of MY equation (Muslim-Yadav equation) and ruled the state for 15 years, his son Tejashwi is looking for new equations with the participation of upper caste people in Bihar.

One such reflection comes from Bihar when 3 RJD candidates belonging to Bhumihar (upper caste) won the MLC elections on Thursday.

Kartik Kumar alias Kartik Master, the RJD candidate of Patna won the election defeating JD-U candidate Valmiki Singh with an impressive margin on Thursday.

Kartik is said to be very close to Bahubali MLA Anant Singh of Mokama. He is currently lodged in Patna’s Beur jail under the Arms Act. Kate belongs to the Bhumihar caste.

Patna is known as a stronghold of the BJP with two MPs Ravi Shankar Prasad and Ram Kripal Yadav winning from Patna Sahib and Patliputra constituencies respectively in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Besides, a number of MLAs and ministers of the NDA government in Bihar belong to Patna.

In West Champaran, RJD candidate Saurabh Chaudhary won the MLC election defeating the BJP candidate. West Champaran is known as a BJP stronghold, being the home district of party state president Sanjay Jaiswal and deputy chief minister Renu Devi. They are expected to give an explanation to the BJP central leadership about the party’s poor performance in their home district.

The West Champaran MLC seat was occupied by the BJP for 18 years. Saurabh Chaudhary belongs to the Bhumihar caste and managed to win it.

Ajay Kumar Singh, another RJD candidate from the Munger-Jamui-Lakhisarai MLC constituency, defeated JD-U candidate Sanjay Prasad. Singh belongs to the Bhumihar community.

Besides the RJD, candidates belonging to the Bhumihar caste also won in other places as well. Rajiv Singh of the Congress party won the election from the Begusarai seat. Begusarai is considered a bastion of the BJP and its firebrand leader Giriraj Singh was elected as MP in 2019 defeating Kanhaiya Kumar of the left party. Now, Kanhaiya Kumar is a Congress leader.

Sachidanand Rai, an independent Bhumihar candidate also won the election from Saran. He was earlier a BJP leader but as the party did not give him a ticket, he contested independently from Saran.

All Andhra ministers resign to make way for Jagan Reddy’s new Cabinet

0

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will reconstitute his Cabinet as all 24 ministers handed him their resignations on Thursday to facilitate the exercise aimed at giving a new look to the ministry ahead of the 2024 elections.

The Chief Minister, who will reconstitute the Cabinet on April 11, is likely to retain 4-5 experienced leaders and for the remaining berths, pick new faces who have been waiting in the wings.

All the ministers tendered their resignations to the Chief Minister immediately after the cabinet meeting ended.

Briefing the media, outgoing Information, and Public Relations Minister Perni Venkatramaiah said: “All 24 ministers of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s government has resigned today. This is in accordance with the Chief Minister’s wish to strengthen party machinery by assigning key responsibilities to experienced leaders to prepare the party for victory in the 2024 Assembly elections. This decision of the Chief Minister has been welcomed and happily accepted by all the ministers.”

Venkatramaiah said the Chief Minister had already made it clear while constituting the Cabinet in 2019 that there will be a new Cabinet after two-and-a-half years. “In fact, the ministers got some grace period,” he said.

Another outgoing minister Kodali Nani said the Chief Minister hinted that some of the outgoing ministers will be continued while the services of the rest would be utilized for the party. Jagan Mohan Reddy, who is also the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) chief, explained to the ministers that the purpose of the whole exercise is to bring the party to power again.

He wanted the ministers to leave it to him to decide where and how to use their services. The ministers unanimously agreed to this and tended their resignation.

Outgoing minister Botsa Satyanarayana said it was the prerogative of the Chief Minister and YSRCP chief to decide whom to retain and whom to drop. “It’s the collective responsibility of all to ensure that party comes back to power. The Chief Minister will soon chalk out an action plan to take the government’s schemes to people,” he said.

He said while reconstituting the cabinet, Jagan Mohan Reddy will ensure regional and caste equations.

Meanwhile, arrangements are in full swing for the swearing-in function of the new cabinet on April 11. The Chief Minister is expected to meet Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan and hand over the resignation letters of his cabinet colleagues.

The Chief Minister had Wednesday met the governor. During the 45-minute meeting, he is understood to have explained his plans to reconstitute the Cabinet.

The YSRCP stormed to power in 2019 with a landslide majority, bagging 151 seats in the 175-member Assembly.

Jagan Mohan Reddy had formed the Cabinet with 25 ministers. In 2020, two of them — Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose and R. Mopidevi Venkataramana — resigned after they were elected to Rajya Sabha. They were replaced by C.S. Venugopala Krishna and Seediri Appalaraju

Including the Chief Minister, the strength of the state cabinet stayed at 26, which is the maximum strength of the Council of Ministers.

However, the death of Mekapati Goutham Reddy, who was holding the industries, commerce, and information technology portfolios, on February 21 from cardiac arrest, caused a vacancy.

‘Ante Sundaraniki’ team celebrates ‘Panchakattu’ song

The team of Nani and Nazriya Nazim’s upcoming movie ‘Ante Sundaraniki’ celebrated the success of the ‘Panchakattu’ song.

The first song ‘Panchakattu’, which was released some time ago, has become an instant hit, gaining much attention from all over.

Team ‘Ante Sundaraniki’ is overwhelmed by the response, and celebrated the success of the song by holding a ‘Panchakattu’ (Dhoti) themed event. Nani, along with his director Vivek Athreya, and other cast and crew turned up to the event in dhoti avatars.

‘Panchakattu’ is composed by Vivek Athreya, which is a foot-tapping number, with witty lyrics penned by Hasith Goli. In fact, the song is a fun melancholy about the protagonist.

Aruna Sairam, the legendary Carnatic singer, has crooned the number and her magical vocals add great value to the song.

‘KGF’ sets foot in metaverse, fans snap up NFTs in record time

Racing towards its theatrical release this month, ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ is making waves in the metaverse as well.

A record number of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) have been snapped up by collectors in what is being termed the biggest NFT sale in India to date. The sale saw the first 500 NFTs getting sold in the first 10 minutes.

KGF franchise makers Hombale Films have introduced a set of three NFTs – Bombay Rocky, Karachi Rocky, and Toofan Rocky avatars.

Hombale Films along with Lysto and Bookmyshow, on Thursday, unveiled ‘KGFVerse’, a digital avatar-based universe in the metaverse, dedicated to the fans of the film.

Excitement had been building since the initial announcement regarding the sale, and a huge number of prospective buyers were looking to get their hands on the especially rare Rocky Bhai NFT, which caused quite a stir.

The sale received a great response from the buyers, resulting in the first 500 NFTS being sold in the first 10 minutes, which is an Indian record for any sale of NFTs in the country.

As cinemas are ready to welcome the much-awaited sequel on the big screen, fans get to own KGF franchise-themed digital collectibles, NFTs, and membership in this innovative space created on the metaverse.

The makers believe that the time is right for the production house to enter the lucrative NFT marketplace arena and the partnership with Lysto and Bookmyshow enables Hombale Films to take advantage of their marketing and technological infrastructure.

With the endless possibilities of fan engagement and digital community building that the metaverse offers, this initiative follows a phased approach that has kickstarted with the launch of 10,000 ‘El-Dorado’ digital tokens that cinephiles can either buy using MATIC (Polygon) cryptocurrency or win across the many contests which have gone live on the social media platforms of Hombale Films, Lysto and BookMyShow.

The ‘El-Dorado’ digital tokens named after the mythical city made of gold, enable its owners to become members, granting them access to the gated collection of the KGFVerse and get first grabs on the future next-generation avatar drops, KGFverse land sale, special events including real-life meetups and interactions with the KGF team, amongst other exciting possibilities.

Through various phases that will follow, fans will get a chance to experience many more exciting drops that will be released soon.

Speaking on the KGFverse, Vijay Kiragandur, Founder of Hombale Films, said, “Metaverse is the new frontier of the Internet and an innovative way to engage with audiences and movie fans. Every artwork that one sees in KGF is unique and one, that cannot be seen in any previous films. This further propelled us in going big into the Metaverse.

“We also want our fans to be part of this and experience it. The future of virtual hangouts and a new way of consuming content is upon us and we are excited to explore this space to enable our fans to interact with elements of both chapters of KGF in the metaverse.”

Speaking further about the NFT market and their plans ahead, Chaluve Gowda, co-founder for Hombale Films said, “While Indian fans are getting their dose with the international market in NFT and the artwork available online, the unconditional love that KGF has received and fans extend, offer immense potential for us in ushering into this new world of Web 3.0.

“We are witnessing that any Indian fan is not just a spectator or silent admirer of art, they want to be active stakeholders and want to go out of their way to support their idols. We know what our fans want and the whole purpose is about giving power to the fans to make their favorite stars closer and more accessible. Our KGFverse is giving fans an opportunity to support their artist directly, flaunt their fandom, and become a part of the larger community.

“NFTs intrinsically capture the value that fandom has always had, this value is now a direct relationship and with ownership too. We are going to get bigger and better in this field, as the NFT market grows and it’s surely going to be the next big phenomenon for the entertainment and art industry.”

Releasing nationwide on April 14, in Kannada, Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam, ‘K.G.F: Chapter 2’ is written and directed by Prashanth Neel, and produced by Vijay Kiragandur, under the Hombale Films banner.

One of the emerging pan-India production houses, Hombale Films is set to showcase some of the biggest films in Indian cinema over the next two years, including the much-awaited film ‘Salaar’ starring Prabhas.

The film is being presented in north Indian markets by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment and AA Films. Excel has given super hits like ‘Dil Chahata Hai’, ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’, ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’, and ‘Gully Boy’, among others.

Meta purges mass reporting network in Russia for violating its policies

Meta said on Thursday that it has removed a network in Russia for abusing its reporting tools to repeatedly report people in Ukraine and in Russia for fictitious policy violations of Facebook policies, in an attempt to silence them.

According to the company, a Belarus-based group attempted to compromise the Facebook accounts of Ukrainian military personnel.

It also posted videos from hacked accounts, calling on the Ukrainian army to surrender, Meta said in its inauthentic behaviour policy report.

The hacking campaign, known as “Ghostwriter,” has been linked to the Belarusian government.

“We removed a network of about 200 accounts operated from Russia. The individuals behind it coordinated to falsely report people for various violations, including hate speech, bullying, and inauthenticity, in an attempt to have them and their posts removed from Facebook,” said the company.

The majority of these fictitious reports focused on people in Ukraine and Russia, but the network also reported users in Israel, the US, and Poland.

The people behind this activity relied on fake, authentic, and duplicate accounts to submit hundreds – in some cases, thousands – of complaints against their targets through Meta’s abuse reporting tools.

“Many of this network’s accounts were detected and disabled by our automated systems,” said Meta.

The company said that there were attempts by previously disrupted state and non-state actors to come back on the platform, “in addition to spam networks using deceptive tactics to monetize public attention to the ongoing war”.

The company’s first quarterly adversarial threat report also detailed threats across multiple policy violations in Iran, Azerbaijan, South America, and the Philippines.

Russia last month blocked access to Facebook in the country. In response, its parent company Meta paused all ads in Russia.

Russia’s communications agency Roskomnadzor had blocked access to Facebook, citing 26 cases of “discrimination against Russian media and information resources by Facebook” since October 2020.
