Pooja Hegde: Prabhas sent food for everyone on the sets of ‘Radhe Shyam’

Actress Pooja Hegde has been busy promoting her upcoming magnum opus ‘Radhe Shyam’. The actress talks about her experience working for the movie with Prabhas.

“I have played Prerana in the movie, a role I have been in love with. My role has different shades, and emotions. Prerana’s role is a multilayered one, and I had to research the role. This had a great impact on my thinking as well”, Pooja said.

Talking on the crux of ‘Radhe Shyam’, Pooja reveals that she is a believer in astrology, and firmly believes in fortune-telling.

When quizzed about her experience working with top Telugu heroes, Pooja stated that she has been overwhelmed at the kind of reception by them so far.

“Prabhas, having such a huge fandom, is so humble. During the ‘Radhe Shyam’ shooting, many of our team had Covid infection. Prabhas made sure to send food to them all. My mother also felt happy about this lovely gesture”.

Coming to other actors, Pooja explained, “Jr NTR is an amazing actor, a perfectionist. His shots get okayed in a single take. On the other hand, Allu Arjun carries so much energy around, which makes him the perkiest person on the sets”.

On being quizzed about her upcoming ventures, Pooja said, “I have a project with Mahesh Babu, which is to be directed by Trivikram Srinivas. I also have some other movies in my kitty which will be announced soon”.

Pan-India movie ‘Radhe Shyam’ is up for a theatrical release on March 11 worldwide.

Modi likely to speak to Zelensky on Monday

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to speak to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday afternoon as Russia’s war on Kiev has continued for the 12th day, government sources said here.

Modi’s interaction with Zelensky, the second since the Russian invasion began on February 24, will take place amid India’s all-out efforts to evacuate its nationals, mostly students, from the war-torn nation.

The Prime Minister had spoken to the Ukrainian leader for the first time on February 26.

According to the sources, Modi is expected to seek a safe passage for Indian students stuck in the cities of Sumy and Odesa during the call on Monday.

Since the war began, Modi has also spoken to Russian President Vladimir Putin twice during which he urged the latter to give a safe passage to Indian nationals from Kharkiv, Sumy, and Odesa.

Meanwhile, India has continued sending relief material to the war-torn nation as part of humanitarian assistance via Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft which are deployed for the evacuations of stranded Indians.

On Sunday, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting shared a video of the relief materials being loaded in an IAF aircraft by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel. These supplies are being sent to Poland from where they would be moved to Ukraine.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, India has sent two trenches of humanitarian assistance that included medicines, medical equipment, and relief materials, via IAF aircraft. While one flight carried six tonnes of material to Romania, the second carried nine tonnes of material to Slovakia on March 3.

On March 2 however, India had again abstained from a vote on Ukraine at the UN General Assembly “in view the totality of the evolving situation”.

This was the fourth abstention by New Delhi on a vote on the Ukraine issue at the UN — the other three at the Security Council where India is an elected member.

Google ML can help discover new antibodies, enzymes, foods

0

Alphabet (Google’s parent company) subsidiary DeepMind has shown that Machine Learning (ML) can predict the shape of protein machinery with unprecedented accuracy, paving the way for researchers to discover new antibodies, enzymes, and foods.

The shape of a protein provides very strong clues as to how the protein machinery can be used but doesn’t completely solve this question.

“So we asked ourselves: can we predict what function a protein performs?” said Max Bileschi, staff software engineer, Google Research, Brain Team.

In a Nature Biotechnology article, Google described how neural networks can reliably reveal the function of the “dark matter” of the protein universe, outperforming state-of-the-art methods.

DeepMind worked closely with internationally recognized experts at the EMBL’s European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI) to annotate 6.8 million more protein regions in the ‘Pfam v34.0 database’ release, a global repository for protein families and their function.

These annotations exceed the expansion of the database over the last decade and will enable the 2.5 million life-science researchers around the world to discover new antibodies, enzymes, foods, and therapeutics.

For about a third of all proteins that all organisms produce, we just don’t know what they do.

“It’s kind of like we’re in a factory where everything’s buzzing, and we’re surrounded by all these impressive tools, but we have only a vague idea of what’s going on. Understanding how these tools operate, and how we can use them, is where we think machine learning can make a big difference,” said Lucy Colwell, senior staff research scientist, Google Research, Brain Team.

The Pfam database is a large collection of protein families and their sequences.

“Our ML models helped annotate 6.8 million more protein regions in the database,” said the researchers.

The company has also launched an interactive scientific article where “you can play with our ML models — getting results in real-time, all in your web browser, with no setup required.”

According to researchers, combining deep models with existing methods significantly improves remote homology detection, suggesting that the deep models learn complementary information.

This approach extends the coverage of Pfam by more than 9.5 percent, exceeding additions made over the last decade, and predicts function for 360 human reference proteome proteins with no previous Pfam annotation.

“The results suggest that deep learning models will be a core component of future protein annotation tools.”

Shane Warne changed the persona of cricket: Craig McMillan

0

Former New Zealand all-rounder Craig McMillan said on Monday that he believed Australian cricket legend Shane Warne “changed the persona of cricket”.

Warne, 52, passed away on Friday following a suspected heart attack on the island of Koh Samui in Thailand where he was vacationing.

McMillan and Warne played several times during their respective international careers while also representing English county side Hampshire.

“He (Warne) changed the persona of cricket,” McMillan said on SENZ Breakfast on Monday. “All of a sudden, Warney brought a bit of a fizz, a bit of razzmatazz to the game. He started all that with the blonde tips and giving guys a send-off.

“There’s no doubt that he’s had one of the greatest impacts on the game that anyone in the world has,” said McMillan, 45, who played 55 Tests, 197 ODIs, and eight T20Is for the Black Caps.

McMillan said that despite the Victorian leg-spinner dominating his opponents on the field, he was much appreciated and loved by one and all.

“The ultimate showman who loved being the center of attention and loved being in the middle of a cricket ground showing off his skills. 90,000 at the MCG was probably his favorite place to be. I was a fan, to begin with and then very quickly found myself being on the same ground and actually facing him which was a bit surreal.

“He was just the best. I played my first Test against Australia in Brisbane and the bowling attack Australia had of SK Warne and Glenn McGrath, two of the greats. I look back on that now and that was pretty cool. I consider myself really lucky to have played in an era where we had some of the greatest bowlers and players of all time. The worse thing about facing him is that you knew he was not far from getting you out. You knew that one of his balls had your name on it.

“I tried to attack him at times; very rarely did it come off. I think Warney appreciated that,” said McMillan.

On Android, YouTube Music users can now share songs with Snapchat

0

Snapchat sharing for YouTube Music was enabled on iOS in October and now a new report has claimed that it is available on Android.

The first indication that YouTube Music might be able to share songs to Instagram and Snapchat emerged in November of 2020, reports 9To5Google.

When you open the share sheet in YouTube Music for Android and tap Snapchat, you will be able to send whatever you are listening to on Snapchat. The artwork for the album, the artist’s name, the app logo, and a link to listen to the music are all included.

Snapchat has also started rolling out a new feature to let users share their real-time location for 15 minutes or a few hours with friends.

The feature is supposed to be a temporary buddy system while friends and family are on the way home or elsewhere.

“Make sure you and your friends get home safely with temporary location-sharing,” Snapchat posted in a tweet late on Friday.

The feature is similar to the Find My app on iOS, where users who’ve opted in can see and share precise locations.

Snapchat has 319 million daily active users (DAUs) — a 20 percent growth (on-year). The instant messaging platform Snapchat has crossed 100 million monthly users in India.

Jolt for England as pacer Ollie Robinson ruled out of first Test against West Indies

0

England’s in-form pace bowler Ollie Robinson has been ruled out of the first Test against the West Indies at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium here from Tuesday after the 28-year-old hurt his back while bowling in a warm-up game against a Cricket West Indies President’s XI last week.

It is a massive setback for the Joe Root-led England side, which is rebuilding following the 0-4 Ashes debacle in Australia recently and will be going into the inaugural Test of the three-match series without the services of pace bowling stalwarts Jimmy Anderson and Stuart Broad.

Robinson reportedly has failed to recover in time from the injury to be named in the 12-member squad for the opening Test that starts on Tuesday.

The England Test team is touring the Caribbean under interim coach Paul Collingwood and without Broad and Anderson, who were both not considered by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) for the series.

Pacers Mark Wood and Chris Woakes look certain to feature, while fellow seamers Craig Overton and uncapped Saqib Mahmood are likely to battle it out with spinner Jack Leach for the final two bowling spots.

Robinson picked up 11 wickets at an average of 25.54 during the Ashes series and Woakes knows his absence will be felt.

“Ollie is a talented bowler. Naturally, he’ll be a big miss,” Woakes was quoted as saying by ICC.

“He’s shown in his short Test career so far that he’s certainly got the skills and the ability to do good things in the format. At the same time, it gives people opportunities. We’re trying to win games of cricket here, but it does give that chance to someone to potentially make their Test debut who’s been waiting in the wings for quite a while to show what they can do at this level.”

The two teams will battle it out for the newly-created Richards-Botham trophy, named after West Indies great Sir Vivian Richards and England star Sir Ian Botham.

The Richards-Botham trophy will be contested across three Tests in the upcoming Caribbean series that form a part of the ICC World Test Championship, and all future Test series between the two teams.

England squad for the first Test: Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, Zak Crawley, Ben Foakes, Dan Lawrence, Jack Leach, Alex Lees, Saqib Mahmood, Craig Overton, Ben Stokes, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood.

Series: First Test: March 8-12 in Antigua; Second Test: March 16-20 in Barbados; Third Test: March 24-28 in Grenada.

TikTok suspends livestreaming in Russia

0

The short-video social media platform TikTok has suspended new content and live streaming abilities on its platform in Russia due to the country’s new “fake news” law.

Russian President Vladimir Putin recently signed into law a bill introducing jail terms of up to 15 years for publishing “fake news” about the army, as Moscow pushes forward with its invasion of Ukraine.

“In light of Russia’s new fake news’ law, we have no choice but to suspend live streaming and new content to our video service while we review the safety implications of this law. Our in-app messaging service will not be affected,” the company said in a tweet.

Russia has been slowing down social media services, including Twitter and YouTube, to make them harder to use.

Meanwhile, the US-based video game holding company Activision Blizzard has announced that it is suspending new sales “of and in” its games in Russia.

“We are doing everything possible to assist employees, and their families, who are being directly affected by this tragedy,” Activision Blizzard president and COO Daniel Alegre said in a letter.

In a tweet from its Newsroom account, Epic said that it was “stopping commerce with Russia in our games” as a direct result of the conflict.

Meanwhile, EA Games removed Russian teams from its FIFA and NHL games, and later cut off all sales to Russia and Belarus. Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red has also taken similar steps.

Japanese gaming giant Nintendo has temporarily put its Russian eShop into maintenance mode, the company said in a notice on its Russian website.

In addition, Microsoft suspended all new sales of “Microsoft products and services” in Russia, a phrasing that seems to include Xbox hardware and software.

K’taka Assembly session to resume, govt to table anti-conversion Bill

The ruling BJP government is all set to table the controversial anti-conversion Bill in the Karnataka Assembly session, which will resume on Monday. The Bill is likely to be tabled in the last leg of the ongoing session.

The Budget Session, which began on March 4, will continue till March 30.

The anti-conversion bill, which was tabled and passed in the state Legislature Assembly, is yet to be presented before the Legislative Council. The BJP attempted to present it on the last day of the winter session in Belagavi, however, the opposition raised a strong objection to presenting the bill in the council without bringing it first on the agenda. The council session ended after witnessing a high drama.

The government, though prepared to get the Bill passed in the session held in February, the plan was dropped after the Congress resorted to day-night protest in the midst of the session demanding the sacking of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister K.S. Eshwarappa for his remarks on hoisting the saffron flag on the Red Fort.

However, BJP is all set to present and get the Bill passed in the council this time. The Bill is likely to be passed in the council, as BJP doesn’t have sufficient numbers. Meanwhile, the opposition Congress and JD(S) are all set to swoop down on the government during the discussion on the Budget in the state Assembly.

The Congress, which completed the Mekedatu Padayatra, is claiming that it has forced the BJP to allot Rs 1,000 crore for building the reservoir. The opposition party is demanding BJP to reserve Rs 5,000 crore for the project. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, who had presented the maiden Budget, is expected to face a litmus test in the assembly facing the opposition in the election year.

1st Test: Try to keep myself relaxed in any pressure scenario, says Ravindra Jadeja

0

India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja on Saturday said that his endeavor while batting at the crease is to keep himself relaxed during pressure scenarios. On day two of the first Test against Sri Lanka at the IS Bindra PCA Stadium, Jadeja mixed solid defense with lovely shots and batted with great ease to make a career-best, unbeaten 175 as India declared at 574/8 in 129.2 overs. In response, Sri Lanka ended the day at 108/4 in 43 overs.

“When you are in international cricket, you need to change your mindset. That is what I am doing. I am taking time at the crease and try to keep myself relaxed in any pressure scenario. Keeping myself calm is a plus point for me so that my ability becomes better and the natural shots in my batting come out more,” said Jadeja in the post-day virtual press conference.

Jadeja stated that he was happy with his batting performance propelling India to a mammoth first innings total. “I look to improve my game every single time whenever I play for India. Whenever I get an opportunity to score runs, I definitely look to implement that in performances when the opportunity comes. All in all, I am very much happy.”

Jadeja further revealed that the plan while batting was to get runs quickly and then push Sri Lanka into batting during the second session. After India’s declaration, an early tea was taken and India got a full session for making inroads into Sri Lanka’s batting order.

“When the messages were coming from inside, I was also telling them when I was batting, the ball had started to keep low and also began to turn. This was the message I sent outside that something is happening from the wicket and can send them (Sri Lanka batters) into batting as they were fielding for 1.5 days and must be tired.”

“It wouldn’t be easy for them to come out and play big shots while staying at the crease for long, which wasn’t easy. The plan was to get runs as quickly as possible and declare quickly so that their tired batters won’t get it easy to bat on.”

Asked about his learnings with the bat during his knock of 175, Jadeja pointed towards judicious shot selection. “For Saurashtra, I used to bat at number four and had the chance to play a big inning as I had three-four batters behind me. I used to have enough time to play and build my innings.”

“But here, I am batting at seven and had good partnerships with Rishabh, Ashwin and Shami. It felt good and as a batsman, I take time and do my shot selection judiciously. After calculating what is happening from the wicket, I decide my shot selection. This is what helps me in my batting and I try to keep myself as relaxed as possible.”

Jadeja signed off by saying that his plan to dismiss Sri Lanka skipper Dimuth Karunaratne lbw was to bowl a stump-to-stump line due to the turn and low bounce.

“When I was batting, the oddball was keeping low or was turning. The natural variation was happening from the wicket. The plan was then to bowl towards the stumps as if I kept bowling there, it could turn or straighten as well.”

“That actually happened when my second ball was normal. The first ball turned well and was close. For the second ball, I was thinking to keep it to the third or fourth stump. The ball turned and kept low a bit; there was also a chance of hitting the stumps. So, that was the plan.”

NASA studies 50-year-old lunar sample to prepare for return to Moon

0

Scientists at NASA are tapping into one of the last unopened Apollo-era lunar samples to learn more about the Moon and prepare for a return to its surface.

NASA’s Artemis mission aims to bring back cold and sealed samples from near the lunar South Pole.

The sample is being opened at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston and studied by the Apollo Next Generation Sample Analysis Program (ANGSA) — a science team that aims to learn more about the sample and the lunar surface in advance of the upcoming Artemis missions to the Moon’s the South Pole.

“Understanding the geologic history and evolution of the Moon samples at the Apollo landing sites will help us prepare for the types of samples that may be encountered during Artemis,” Thomas Zurbuchen, associate administrator of NASA’s Science Mission Directorate in Washington, said in a statement.

When Apollo astronauts returned with these samples around 50 years ago, NASA had the foresight to keep some of them unopened and pristine.

The ANGSA 73001 sample is part of an Apollo 17 drive tube sample collected by astronauts Eugene Cernan and Harrison “Jack” Schmitt in December 1972.

The astronauts hammered a pair of connected 1.5-by-14-inch tubes into the lunar surface to collect segments of rocks and soil from a landslide deposit in the Moon’s Taurus-Littrow Valley.

The astronauts then individually sealed one drive tube under vacuum on the Moon before bringing them back to Earth; only two drive tubes were vacuum sealed on the Moon in this way, and this is the first to be opened.

The other half of this drive tube, 73002, was returned in an unsealed container, which was opened in 2019.

Now, scientists are focusing attention on the sealed, lower segment of the core – the 73001 sample.

It was carefully stored in a protective outer vacuum tube and in an atmosphere-controlled environment.

The amount of gas expected to be present in this sealed Apollo sample is likely very low.

If scientists can carefully extract these gases, they can be analyzed and identified using modern mass spectrometry technology.

The device is used to extract and collect the gas is called a manifold.

A team from the European Space Agency led a group in building the special tool to carefully pierce the container holding the lunar sample without letting any gas escape.

Together, they’ve created and rigorously tested a one-of-a-kind system to collect the extremely precious material – gas and solid – that is sealed inside the containers.

On February 11, the team began the careful, months-long process to remove the sample by first opening the outer protective tube and capturing any gas inside.

They knew what gases should be present inside the outer container and found everything was as expected.

The tube seemed to contain no lunar gas, indicating the seal on the inner sample tube was still likely intact.

On February 23, the team began the next step: a multi-week process of piercing the inner container and slowly gathering any lunar gases that are hopefully still inside.

After the gas extraction process is finished, the ARES team will prepare to carefully remove the soil and rocks from their container, likely later this spring.

mRNA Covid vax doesn’t affect IVF success rates: Study

0

Covid-19 mRNA vaccines do not affect the ovarian response or pregnancy rates in IVF (In-vitro fertilization) treatment, according to a study.

A team of researchers from the Tel Aviv University in Israel found that in patients undergoing IVF treatments, ovarian response and pregnancy rates were similar with those that were vaccinated with the mRNA Covid-19 vaccine prior to IVF treatment, as compared to unvaccinated women.

The study published in the peer-reviewed medical journal ‘Fertility and Sterility included a total of 400 patients, 200 vaccinated women, and 200 age-matched unvaccinated women, undergoing IVF during January-April 2021.

The results showed no effect of the Covid-19 mRNA vaccine on oocyte yield during hormonal stimulation or on pregnancy rates during IVF treatments.

The study did not support concerns that the vaccine might affect fertility treatment outcomes were not supported, said researchers.

“The theoretical concept of the supposed similarity between the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein and the syncytin protein that is speculated to take part in the fertilization process and the formation of the placenta, has led to the assumption that the vaccine might induce an immune response which would affect implantation and pregnancy,” said researchers, including Alon Kedem from the varsity’s Shamir Medical Centre, in the study.

“Our results demonstrate similar oocyte yields and fertilization rates among vaccinated and unvaccinated women,” Kedem added.

The researchers said taking into account the potential harm of the infection itself on fertility, the already proven worse pregnancy outcomes among pregnant women with Covid-19 infection, and the higher risk of infection among unvaccinated pregnant women, it seems reasonable to reduce infection risk through vaccination.

“We recommend considering Covid-19 vaccination prior to commencing IVF treatments in order to reduce the risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection during pregnancy,” Kedem said.

Preliminary reports on vaccine safety in pregnant women found similar miscarriage rates among vaccinated women as compared to historical data from the literature.

However, the results of this study “strengthen the notion that it is unlikely that the vaccine would generate a response that might interfere with placentation,” researchers said.

Yet further studies are needed to evaluate the safety of the vaccine beyond the eighth week of pregnancy, the team said.

OTT debutante Kangana Ranaut opens the doors as host of ‘Lock Upp’

After giving a number of Bollywood hits, Kangana Ranaut is again gaining all the attention for her OTT debut with the fearless reality show ‘Lock Upp’.

As she says: “A show of this production value and this kind of magnitude and this kind of scale needed to be seen with a maximum reach of people and as much as we can. OTT platforms are coming up in India and especially homegrown ones and MX player has an incredible reach, different gamut of audience and subscribers so does ALT. And they clubbed and combined together and decided to do it in a bigger way. I was game for that.”

When asked, if the show is going to be a family watch, she replies: “Yes, it is definitely a family watch but by family do you mean children? I’m not sure about that. But the beauty of OTT is that it is a very personalized experience. You can have your headphones on and you can see it with your partner, your girlfriend, and if you have a certain comfort with your parents.”

“It is something that can be enjoyed with like-minded people. And the nature of the show is such that a lot of controversial people are going to be put together under testing circumstances. So, nobody really knows where it can get. But it is going to be unpredictable. So, there is no definite answer to it, yes or no. But at the same time I feel that one should see which way it goes,” she adds.

There are a number of controversial people parts of the show and dealing with them as a host can be tricky sometimes. How Kangana will deal with them if they show any kind of disrespect towards her or create drama.

The ‘Queen’ actress answers: “They’re very edgy controversial celebrities. And yes, some of them have been a part of major controversies. Of course, when you go to correct them and if you scratch the surface they get volatile, they get absolutely completely into the attacking mode and they do not see who comes before that and it can be the host also. In TV, they might delete a showdown like that, but in digital, it is not going to be deleted because that is the nature of digital so I am quite aware that some of these celebrities are going to lose control.”

“And they’re going to be all over the place and some might even subject me to their volatile nature, some sort of wrath. I’m not going to have anybody tell me what to do and I am the host and I should have the last word and I know how to exert my place and I know how to, you know for the lack of better word, I know how to be a ‘queen’.”

Moving ahead Kangana replies to her show being compared to ‘Bigg Boss’ and like ‘Bigg Boss’ has been recently blamed for favoring a few contestants, ‘Lock Upp’ will also have some favorites of her.

Kangana says: “See ‘Bigg Boss’ and all are TV shows and they have contestants on them. We are not talking about contestants here, we’re talking about ‘kaidis’ and they are in jail. I will have the final word and I will choose the winner.”

She adds on if she will have her favorite: “Yes of course it is as it’s human nature to resonate with certain people and do not resonate with certain people. But that will not affect my decision. I’m a very objective person. And I feel the winner should be somebody who is probably not the definition of winners we have seen so far in reality shows.”

“But someone who’s out there and knows how to deal with life, who’s spontaneous, who’s fun and at the same time is innocent and pure. This is going to be the winner of ‘Lock Upp Season 1’ and I am sure that I will favor such a person and such a person will be my favorite as well. The winner will be somebody who I like,” she says.

Kangana is quite vocal about nepotism and she has spoken about it in the promo as well. But the producer of the show Ekta Kapoor, who is the daughter of Bollywood’s popular actor Jeetendra has often tried to take her place in the industry without using her father’s name, how Kangana reacts to this and if she agrees?

And she says: “Well people come with certain advantages and disadvantages in every situation. I’ve said that nepotism is not the issue here. We can’t stop people from doing what they want to do. Ekta is the rightful heir of her father in every way of his name, fame, glory, his assets in every way and nobody can deny that and it should not be anybody’s concern either, right? I mean, why should anybody object to that?

“But the problem with the film industry is not that they pass on their wealth, whether it is name, fame, or assets to the children. No, the problem that I face was actually that I was bullied in the film industry, and everybody has seen that I was asked to leave the film industry openly in the national newspapers.”

“I was told that please leave the film industry. They said, ‘It is not for you and you know, all that. So, there have been public showdowns where people have told me that I don’t belong here. I was mocked for my English; I was mocked for coming from the mountains. My journey through my journey, I’ve seen that.”

“But I’ve never seen Ekta being part of any bully gang. She worked with me in my initial years. She’s the first one to give me my first A-lister project. So for me, I have huge respect for her. And, of course, she has come up on her own and she’s very, very successful as a woman and as a producer. She inspires me and I hold back. I always tell her that you are the prototype of how one should be if you grew up in privileged families,” the actress shares on her bond with Ekta Kapoor.

At last, Kangana talks about her upcoming film ‘The Incarnation – Sita’ in which she will portray the mythical character and if she would like to work in a sequel to ‘The Dirty Picture as there was a rumor that she denied being part of it.

“I do not think I would, I’m doing a film called ‘The Incarnation – Sita’ and to keep the sentiments of people in mind and to not complicate things for professional gains. I would like to stay away just for the sentiments of people and because I give my all to something that I do at a time and ‘The Incarnation – Sita’ is something that means a lot to me. I feel it’s a blessing and ‘Dirty Picture 2’, knowing the very name that suggests that it has a quality of erotica. It’ll be huge if it’s made, but honestly, I don’t feel I’m the right person for it anymore. So, I will let it pass,” she concludes.

‘Radhe Shyam’ BTS video spells grit of its production team

The makers of the upcoming Indian period romantic drama ‘Radhe Shyam’, which stars Prabhas and Pooja Hegde in lead roles, released a behind-the-scenes video on Saturday.

The BTS video ties together the film’s journey of its making from picturesque locales of Europe, recreating the Italy of the 1970s, to when the pandemic bogged down the film’s production.

It then swiftly changes gears to show how the film’s production didn’t flinch in the eye of the storm and continued putting the film together. The video showcases each stage of the film’s making from locations, camerawork, VFX, action, erecting sets on the Indian soil to its music.

‘Radhe Shyam’ celebrates the journey of love and destiny where Prabhas will be seen essaying the role of a palmist. The special video shows the dedication of the team to recreate Europe in India which was stopped due to the pandemic.

Presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series ‘Radhe Shyam’ a UV Creations production, has been directed by Radha Krishna Kumar and edited by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao. The film, produced by Bhushan Kumar, Vamsi, and Pramod, is set to debut in theaters on March 11.

1st Test: I just stayed calm and batted normally, says Ravindra Jadeja

0

India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja on Saturday said he was calm and batted in his normal way on day two of the first Test against Sri Lanka. Jadeja registered his highest Test score of 175 as India declared at a mammoth 574/8 in 129.2 overs.

“Feeling really good. Yesterday Rishabh was playing really well, he was taking the bowlers on, so I was just staying at the non-striker’s end and enjoying his batting,” said Jadeja in a post-match chat with the broadcasters.

Talking about conversations with Rishabh Pant and Ravichandran Ashwin while stitching century-plus stands with them, Jadeja remarked, “I was just taking my time and being very calm in the middle, I and Rishabh were talking about building a partnership and had a similar conversation with Ash also.”

Asked about his batting as well alongside Ashwin, Jadeja commented, “Today, I just stayed calm and batted normally. I always enjoy batting with him (Ashwin), bowling with him, it is all about teamwork, one man can’t win you the game and it has to be a team effort.”

Jadeja signed off by saying that the pitch will deteriorate as the match continues. “The wicket might turn more as the game progresses and the oddball is also keeping low, we will try to bowl wicket to wicket.”

UNDP partners with Bhumi Pednekar for gender equality ahead of Women’s Day

Ahead of International Women’s Day, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in collaboration with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, intends to implement a year-long social campaign for which it has roped in Bollywood actress Bhumi Pednekar.

For the program ‘Women at Work – Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Future Tomorrow’, Bhumi will raise awareness with regards to several issues like equipping young women to challenges and opportunities in non-traditional roles and career paths, the importance of creating an eco-system to promote non-traditional aspirations for young women, role of government, businesses, NGOs, CSOs and individuals (influencers) and the importance of peer support to women working.

Commenting on the occasion, Bhumi says, “Our career pathways and choices are often influenced by people around us and their expectations of us. It limits our aspirations; our potential to truly achieve what we can. This is especially relevant for women and girls given the rigorous social conditioning that they experience.”

She further states how greater representation of women in the workforce is the need of the hour, “The need for more women in the workforce is not only an economic imperative but a social one as well. Our workspaces need to be inclusive, encouraging diverse skill sets and expertise. This can be made possible when women occupy spaces in leading roles, breaking stereotypes, and barriers inspiring others especially, young girls to aspire and realize their full potential.”

Sharing her thoughts on the association with UNDP, the actress says, “I’m very pleased to be part of UNDP’s International Women’s Day campaign on Women at Work raising the important issue of leadership roles for women in the workspace and equal opportunities for all.”

“Through my movies, I have portrayed different characters that provide an alternative to stereotyping of female actors, fully aware that cinema can have a lasting impression on people. I look forward to contributing my part to creating conversations on this theme during my association with UNDP”, she concludes.
