30,000 Indian troops in eyeball-to-eyeball confrontation with Chinese

0

Around 30,000 troops of the Indian Army are in an eyeball-to-eyeball confrontation with Chinese troops along the Line of Actual Control (LoC) in Ladakh, following the additional deployment of three brigades since the violent face-off last month.

Highly placed sources told IANS that in normal times six brigades, that is two divisions are maintained along the LAC in Ladakh, even as troops are deployed in and out on a rotation basis. However, after the June 15 violent clash, in which 20 Indian soldiers including a commander were killed and over 70 soldiers injured, the Army called for three additional brigades (each brigade constitutes around 3,000 troops and support elements).

Around 10,000 troops for the three additional brigades were brought from Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh, sources said. In all, sources said, there are three Army divisions along the LAC under the XIV Corps Command, as of today. The XIV, the biggest corps of the Army in India, was set up during the 1962 war with China.

Sources said some para special forces which played a key role in the 2017 surgical strikes against Pakistan, have also been sent to Ladakh. The Indian paratroopers come from over a dozen special forces regiments who are trained in high-risk operations in extremely difficult terrain. Similarly, five battalions of Ladakh Scouts, an infantry regiment of the Army, is operational for support in the mountain warfare.

Since the violent clash in the Galway valley, the Indian Army reinforcements have been backed by its M-777 ultra-light howitzers bought from the US, sources said. The American howitzers, sling-loaded to helicopters, are known for their precision artillery fire up to a range of 24-30 km in mountainous regions.

Air Force’s transport aircraft, that is C-17 Globemaster III, sources said, have been used to airlift soldiers, infantry combat vehicles, and heavy tanks like T-72/T-90 tanks.

According to military sources, the Army has also pressed into service, the Russian Sukhoi-30 fighters, MiG-29 jets, Ilyushin-76 heavy-lift planes, An-32 transport planes, Mi-17 utility helicopters, and BMP-2/2K infantry combat vehicles.

To support the Army’s forward deployments like the Daulat Beg Oldie (DBO) sector along the LAC, sources said, C-130J Super Hercules aircraft are being used. The DBO, the world’s highest runway, stands at 16,614 feet, and 8km from the LAC in north-eastern Ladakh.

Navy’s P-8I aircraft generally used for maritime patrol and reconnaissance, sources said, are being used in Ladakh for high altitude surveillance. Sources said the P-8Is carried out similar surveillance operations during the 2017 India-China standoff in Doklam in Sikkim.

Sources said, apart from the Russian and Western defense systems, the Indian Army is also using its indigenous Akash, medium-range mobile surface-to-air missile defense system developed by the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO).

The Army, sources said, is pretty satisfied and confident with their deployments in Ladakh. “We have got everything that a modern Army requires. Any aggression from the Chinese side can be retaliated more than adequately,” a source said.

The entire built-up is along the 865 km-long Line of Actual Control (LAC) which acts as the border with China since most of the region has been occupied by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) over time. China occupied Aksai Chin, a part of Ladakh union territory, that is, 38000 sq km, in 1962 war. The Chinese Communist Party regime has also occupied Tibet (1.2 million sq km), which borders Ladakh.

On the map though, India shares a 3488 km-long international border with Tibet under China, in the eastern sector (Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh), center (Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh) and western sector (Ladakh).

Walgreens, NZ-based Stuff join ‘boycott Facebook’ campaign

0

Leading US drugstore chain Walgreens and New Zealand-based news site Stuff have decided to quit Facebook and its sister platforms amid criticism over its handling of hate speech and misinformation.

They join over 400 advertisers including some big names like Coca Cola, Starbucks, Adidas, and Sony Playstation who are part of ‘boycott ads on Facebook’ campaign being run by civil rights groups.

“Brands are withdrawing paid advertising from Facebook and Instagram across the UK and the U.S. for the month of July. During this pause, we will examine our marketing strategy, to ensure that our advertising spend goes toward platforms with a commitment to address misinformation and hate speech,” Walgreens said in a statement on Sunday.

A leaked internal email showed New Zealand’s largest news organization is “ceasing all activity” on Facebook and its partner networks report The Spinoff.

“Effective immediately, Stuff is trialing ceasing all activity on Facebook-owned networks. This experiment applies to all Facebook pages, groups and Instagram accounts across our entire group,” the email read.

The #StopHateForProfit boycott has more than 400 participants and the civil rights groups, including the NAACP and the Anti-Defamation League on June 17, are now calling for a global expansion of Facebook ad boycott.

American food company Chobani, drugmaker Pfizer, software major SAP, Coca Cola, Adidas, cleaning supply firm Clorox, Conagra (the maker of Slim Jim, Duncan Hines and Pam), fast-food chain Denny’s, Ford and Starbucks, among others, have decided to pull their ads from the platform.

As hundreds of companies halt advertising on Facebook and Instagram, CEO Mark Zuckerberg is confident the brands would soon return on the platform.

According to a report in The Information, Zuckerberg told employees he was reluctant to bow to the threats of a growing ad boycott, saying “my guess is that all these advertisers will be back on the platform soon enough.”

The social networking giant said it was getting better at removing harmful content and that the platform does not in any way profit from hate speech.

Facebook’s digital advertising accounted for over 98 percent of the company’s nearly $70 billion in revenue last year.

Barcelona FC President Josep Maria Bartomeu has downplayed Lionel Messi’s exit rumors, stating the star striker wants to continue with the club till the end of his football career.

“I am not going to give details but Messi has said many times that he will end his football life in Barcelona,” Goal.com quoted Bartomeu as saying.

The team played well and we can be very happy with the performance. We will keep fighting for the league until the end,” said the president after the final whistle in the Estadio de la Ceramica.

“I see him well, Leo. The rest is speculation that I do not even enter into. That’s what you, the press, are there for. I see him training well, and (nothing) more.”

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite: S Pen, low price steal the show

0

Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S6 Lite arrived in India just when you desired it the most. Your school-going children perhaps never truly needed a device like this than they require now because of the online classes that have become the norm for quite some time now.

Neither did you thanks to the disruptions brought about by Covid-19.

Of course, there are other tablets in the market. And the best among all in the Android universe is widely believed to be the Tab S6 Lite’s costlier sibling, Galaxy Tab S6.

What, however, sets Tab S6 Lite apart from others is its ability to pack a gamut of useful features at almost half the price of Galaxy Tab S6.

Samsung launched two variants of Tab S6 Lite in India – the Wi-Fi variant at Rs 27,999 and the LTE version at Rs 31,999. It is available in three colors — Oxford Gray, Angora Blue and Chiffon Pink.

We used the LTE version in Oxford Gray for some time to understand its pros and cons.

Despite the affordable price tag, Samsung has not actually compromised on the look and functionalities of the tablet.

With slim bezels and metal back, it gives a premium feel in your hands when you hold it. The back of the device has a fine finish which ensures that the fingerprints that it picks do not appear tool bold to make a mess of the look.

The 4GB RAM device which runs One UI 2 on Android offers 64GB of internal storage plus the benefit of expanding the limit through a microSD card.

This suggests that Samsung has made efforts to address a major pain point of the users. Compared to this, the 10.2-inch iPad which is available in a similar price range offers just 32GB internal storage.

And this is not all. The inclusion of the S Pen within the affordable range really puts it ahead of others in the category. Its usage is more relevant now as it makes taking notes and drawing things a breeze on the 10.4-inch screen.

The right side of the tablet can magnetically attach the S Pen which is quite useful when carrying the device from one place to another and also to ensure that it is not displaced.

And the 5MP front camera is also good enough to make appearances suitable when you enter into video conferences from the comfort of your home during remote working.

The 8MP primary camera also does not disappoint inadequate light if you want to use it for posting photos on social media. The only problem is that the flash option is there for the front camera, but not the rear camera.

The face-recognition system to unlock the device works well to give you quick access. To top it all, this device which weighs just 467 gem packs a powerful 7040mAh battery that can make the device run for days with moderate use once it is fully charged.

The dual speakers, tuned by AKG and Dolby Atmos, can enrich your session with YouTube videos or TV shows.

What, however, one misses is the sharpness of the Super AMOLED display that its costlier sibling offers.

Conclusion: Overall, with a strong battery, large display, good sound quality, and the precision with which the S Pen takes your notes, the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite appears to offer a little more than what you could expect at this price point from Samsung.

Gorakhpur doctor’s letter from jail stirs controversy

A four-page hand-written letter by suspended Gorakhpur doctor, Kafeel Khan, has stirred up a hornet’s nest.

The letter which narrates the ‘hellish’ conditions of the Mathura prison where he is presently lodged for participating in anti-CAA protests, claims that about 150 inmates are sharing a toilet.

Mathura jail senior superintendent Shailendra Maitri, on the other hand, has questioned the veracity of the letter.

“Kafeel denies having written any letter. We screen all the outgoing mails and did not see any such letter written by Kafeel. And after the lockdown began, no one has been allowed to meet the inmates. So, how did the alleged letter go out?” he asked.

Kafeel, in the letter to his family, has written, “With just one attached toilet and 125-150 inmates, the smell of their sweat and urine mixed, with unbearable heat due to electricity cuts, makes life hell over here. A living hell indeed.”

He further wrote, “I try to read but cannot focus due to suffocation. Sometimes I feel that I might fall due to dizziness. The entire barrack seems like a fish market full of all kinds of smells. People are coughing, sneezing, farting, urinating, and sweating. Some people snore, some fight, some scratch themselves.”

The doctor also questioned his detention. “Why am I being punished? When will I be able to see my children, my wife, my mother, and my brothers and sister? When will I be able to fulfill my duties as a doctor in fighting the menace of Coronavirus?” he asked.

Kafeel’s brother Adeel Ahmad Khan, said that the letter was written by Kafeel on June 15 and had reached them on July 1.

Adeel claimed that the letter was sent by post.

Kafeel Khan was booked for his alleged inflammatory remarks at an anti-CAA protest at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) on December 13, 2019.

He was arrested from Mumbai on January 29 this year and was granted bail on February 10 by a court in Aligarh.

But, on February 13, the UP government invoked the National Security Act (NSA) against him, ensuring that he remains behind the bars.

Kafeel Khan first hit the headlines in August 2017 when he was blamed for the deaths of 30 children due to an oxygen shortage in the BRD Medical College in Gorakhpur.

He remains suspended from service even though he was cleared of the charges in a departmental inquiry.

Yogi sanctions housing facilities for policemen

There is finally some good news for police constables who have been living in dangerously dilapidated barracks in police Lines.

The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has sanctioned 471 projects at a cost of Rs 2,789 crores for hostel buildings for the constables.

Additional Chief Secretary, Home, Avanish Awasthi told reporters, “It is not so that we are giving them only a decent housing facility. The government has also decided to construct and renovate fire stations and police stations to offer better office space to the force. The chief minister is personally monitoring the work progress.”

He said that the Chief Minister is aware of the housing problems of the policemen and is clear about what work has to be done.

The government orders (GOs) were recently issued for all projects.

For the first time, 44 hostels each are being constructed for male and women police personnel and at 322 police stations, special rooms would be constructed for investigating officers.

Hostels and barracks would also be constructed at police stations to offer better housing facilities to the police personnel of lower ranks.

Former Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police Brij Lal said, “For decades, police jawans and their families have been living in barracks which were constructed during the British period. Many generations have spent their entire lives in these dilapidated buildings. Now, for the first time, a Chief Minister has looked into their problems. Yogi Adityanath is doing a great job for the force by offering them a decent living accommodation.”

He said that the Chief Minister’s decision would also help in giving a better life to the police force.

“The housing facility for the three-lakh strong force has always been a matter of concern for the state and police personnel have been living in miserable conditions,” he stated.

Ryan Adams pens apology in response to #MeToo allegations

0

Musician Ryan Adams has apologized to the women, including his former wife Mandy Moore, who accused him of emotional abuse and sexual misconduct over a year ago.

“There are no words to express how bad I feel about the ways I’ve mistreated people throughout my life and career,” Adams wrote, reports usmagazine.com.

“All I can say is that I’m sorry. It’s that simple. This period of isolation and reflection made me realise that I needed to make significant changes in my life.”

He said that some people will think this is “the same empty bulls*** apology that I’ve always used when I was called out, but he insisted that “this time it is different”.

“No amount of growth will ever take away the suffering I had caused,” he continued.

“I will never be off the hook and I am fully accountable for my harmful behavior, and will be for my actions moving forward.”

Adams added that he has worked hard to remain sober and has channeled his emotions into making new music.

“Some of these songs are angry, many are sad but most of them are about the lessons I’ve learned over the last few years,” he wrote.

“Those ones are an expression of my deepest remorse. I hope that the people I’ve hurt will heal. And I hope that they will find a way to forgive me.”

Moore and six other women had accused Adams of emotional abuse and sexual misconduct in February 2019.

Moore had claimed that her ex-husband was psychologically abusive and manipulated her career by never recording her songs and booking her studio time just to replace her with other female artistes.

“His controlling behavior essentially did block my ability to make new connections in the industry during a very pivotal and potentially lucrative time – my entire mid-to-late 20s,” she wrote.

Moore and Adams were married from 2009 to 2016.

Other women alleged that Adams would turn offers to help their careers into sexual advances.

Charged Rs 1.15 lakh for 1 day Covid treatment: Hyderabad doc

0

A woman doctor serving at a government-run hospital in Hyderabad alleged that a private hospital charged her Rs 1.15 lakh for one-day treatment of Covid.

Dr Sultana, who is assistant civil surgeon at Fever Hospital, also claimed in her selfie video that the hospital authorities detained her for not paying the bill.

The doctor, who had tested positive for Covid along with her brother and daughter, kept crying throughout the 1.5 minute video which went viral on Sunday.

She said she was admitted to Thumbay Hospital due to shortness of breath. “For one day they are charging Rs 1.15 lakh. I could not pay so much. My brother paid Rs.1.5 lakh. We paid Rs 1.9 lakh cumulatively,” said the doctor.

She alleged that the hospital authorities were not discharging her and not behaving properly.

“They gave me insulin but denied me the food after that. They are also making false allegations against us,” Dr Sultana said.

“How can we be so cruel to a doctor and a COVID warrior herself and detain her for non-payment of bill,” asked Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) leader Amjedullah Khan in a tweet directed at Health Minister E. Rajender.

Police said they had not received any complaint. The police found that the doctor left the hospital early on Sunday.

The incident occurred amid complaints by many Covid patients that private hospitals were charging them heavily and not following the tariff fixed by the state government.

According to Khan, a private hospital refused to handover the body of a patient who died of Covid to his relatives due to non-payment of Rs 5.22 lakh. The family had already paid Rs 5.30 lakh.

Meanwhile, Fever Hospital Superintendent K. Shankar said Sultana tested positive two days ago during screening of the staff at the hospital. He said the doctor approached the private hospital without informing them. He said they could have made better arrangements for her treatment.

Health Department officials said they had taken note of the doctor’s complaint and were making necessary arrangements for the treatment.

“It was an incredibly stressful time for me, and I will make any action movie over and over and over again before I homeschool again,” she added.

She also spoke about the current Hollywood shutdown.

“It’s one of those jobs where it takes a village. You need a lot of people in order to do it, and I don’t know how we’re going to do that anytime soon in a safe manner,” said the actress.

Heavy firing exchanges on LoC in J&K’s Poonch

0

Pakistan resorted to unprovoked shelling on the line of control (LoC) on Sunday in Jammu & Kashmir’s Poonch district.

Defence ministry spokesman Colonel Devender Anand said, “At about 7.45 p.m. today Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms and shelling with mortars along the LoC in Balakote sector of Poonch district.

“The Indian Army is retaliating”.

Reports from the area said heavy firing exchanges are going on between the two sides.

Pakistan has violated the bilateral ceasefire on the LoC and the international border in J&K, over 2,400 times so far this year.

Frequent shelling from across the LoC has thrown the lives of hundreds of border dwellers out of gear.

The residents of border villages live under constant fear of losing their lives, homes and cattle because of indiscriminate firing on defence and civilian facilities by Pakistani troops.

Stokes already a big leader in the England side, says Crawley

0

England cricketer Zak Crawley gave his backing to all-rounder Ben Stokes who will be captaining the Test side for the first time in the first match of the #raisethebat Test against West Indies starting July 8 at the Ageas Bowl.

Stokes was named the skipper after regular captain Joe Root returned to Sheffield for the birth of his second child. Root is likely to rejoin the squad and lead in the final two matches at Old Trafford.

Crawley believes Stokes is a very experienced player now and he will have no problems with dealing with the pressure that captaincy brings along with it.

“He (Stokes) will be very good. He is already a big leader in the team. So he is not going to have any problems leading in his first Test match,” Crawley said during a video interview with Sky Sports.

“He has played a lot of cricket and is a very experienced player. I think he is going to be a very good captain,” he added.

Earlier, former England captain Nasser Hussain had also backed Stokes to lead from the front in the first Windies Test. He had, however, expressed his concerns regarding handing over the armband to Stokes on a permanent basis.

“Generally, what Ben does is a bit like Virat,” Hussain said on the Star Sports show Cricket Connected. “Everything he does, he does it at 100 miles an hour. So, I think he will be an excellent captain, he’s only a stand-in captain. Joe Root is off with that baby, his second child.

“I think as a stand-in captain, I am absolutely behind it, absolutely great choice, very loyal as well to Joe Root. He won’t have any kind of grandeur thinking that this is my job for life.”

“But as a long-term thing – all-rounder with so much on his plate, plays three formats, IPL possibly coming up – I think there’s too much on his shoulders, but never write-off Ben Stokes.

“He could make an exceptional captain, but I am worried a little bit about his workload in the future if he does it full time,” Hussain added.

AMMA President, superstar Mohanlal is at at his Chennai residence, from where he joined via video conference.

Among the other committee members who were physically present include CPI-M legislator Mukesh and former state minister K.B. Ganesh Kumar, whose party is an ally of the ruling Left.

With the various TV channels airing the news of the proposed meeting and showing the arrival of the filmstar-turned politicians, the Youth Congress activists arrived in front of the plush hotel, where the meeting had just begun, to protest.

Police also arrived at the spot, and soon the meeting was called off.

Local authorities have now decided to register a case against the hotel.

Madhuri will miss ‘Guru-shishya bond’ with Saroj Khan

0

Actress Madhuri Dixit is feeling the loss of veteran choreographer Saroj Khan even more as it’s Guru Purnima.

Saroj Khan passed away at around 1.30 am on Friday after a cardiac arrest. She was 71.

“I still can’t believe master ji is no more. Losing a friend, philosopher & guide like her is devastating. It was difficult for me to put down my grief in words. I had spoken to her daughter when she was in the hospital & she told me that Saroj ji would be fine. Two days later, she was gone,” Madhuri posted on social media.

“The Guru-Shishya bond that we shared, the assurance that she would be my mother on the sets, I’ll miss everything,” she wrote.

On the occasion of Guru Purnima on Sunday, the actress paid a tribute to the choreographer with whom she had worked on multiple songs.

“Nobody can make women look so beautiful, desirable & sensuous on-screen like her. She made everything look like poetry in motion. Smitten by her, I had told her, ‘Saroji ji, agar aap shakkar hoti na (had you been sugar), I would add you in my cup of tea & drink it.” She would laugh heartily at this. I’ll miss that playful laughter,” said Madhuri.

Recalling the first time, she met Saroj Khan, she said: “It was while shooting for Maine Rab Se from Karma. Saroj ji asked me so many questions, one being ‘Where did you learn to dance?’ Unfortunately, our sequence was removed from the song. I’ll miss her many questions.

Saroj Khan was a game changer in the industry, felt Madhuri.

“She was the rebel in the male-dominated profession. There were rough edges to her personality & I feel that’s because life has been pretty uneven to her. I’ll miss that determined & headstrong woman,” she said.

Dancing in front of the camera and dancing on stage are two different things, pointed out the actress.

“Saroj ji taught me how to romance the camera when we worked on Ek Do Teen. Such was the song’s popularity that Filmfare had to create the Best Choreography category to honour Saroj ji. I’ll miss her resolve to push the envelope all the time,” she said.

“Her Nazakat, the aadayein, the elegance of every move, I was besotted. I knew we would do a lot of songs together. So we decided not to repeat any of the movements. She agreed to create hook steps that people will identify with every song. We created so many movements with no knowledge about what they are called. Who knew Tamma Tamma step was Dab? I’ll miss inventing hook steps with her,” she added.

Saroj Khan was close to Madhuri’s family as well. “This loss is deeply personal. There’s no one like her & there won’t be another like her. Saroj ji, I’ll miss everything about you. I’ll miss your ‘Perrrfect’!,” concluded the actress.

There were rough edges to her personality & I feel that's because life has been pretty uneven to her. I'll miss that determined & headstrong woman.⁣⁣ ⁣ Dancing in front of the camera & dancing on stage are two different things. Saroj ji taught me how to romance the camera when we worked on Ek Do Teen. Such was the song’s popularity that Filmfare had to create the Best Choreography category to honour Saroj ji. I'll miss her resolve to push the envelope all the time. ⁣⁣ ⁣ Her Nazakat, the aadayein, the elegance of every move, I was besotted. I knew we would do a lot of songs together. So we decided not to repeat any of the movements. She agreed to create hook steps that people will identify with every song. We created so many movements with no knowledge about what they are called. Who knew Tamma Tamma step was Dab? I'lll miss inventing hook steps with her.⁣ ⁣ She was close to my family as well & this loss is deeply personal. There's no one like her & there won't be another like her. Saroj ji, I'll miss everything about you. I'll miss your 'Perrrfect'!

Ganguly ‘would’ve loved to’ change his game as per T20 requirements

Former India captain and current Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly said he would have loved to change his game as per T20 requirements had he played the game in today’s era.

Ganguly, who didn’t play a single T20I for Team India but featured in 59 IPL matches, stated T20 cricket is very important in today’s time and he would have liked to add the skill of playing in the shortest format into his armoury.

During an online interaction with current Test opener Mayank Agarwal, Ganguly was asked by a fan on Twitter: “#DadaOpensWithMayank Dada if you were born in this era would you have reinvented yourself as a T20 power player with your all-round skills or would you have stuck to playing ODIs and Test cricket?”

“No, T20 is very important. I would have changed my game…I would have loved to… Although I did play first five years of the IPL,” Ganguly told Agarwal in the video uploaded on BCCI’s Twitter handle.

“It, you know, (gives you) the license to keep swinging and keep hitting. So I think I would have enjoyed T20,” he added.

Ganguly also spoke about the 2002 Natwest Trophy final against England at the iconic Lord’s. The former skipper stated players got a bit carried away after the victory and rightly so after such a pulsating encounter.

Following the win, Ganguly had waived his T-shirt at the Lord’s balcony following — an image which is still fresh in the mind of every cricket fan in the country.

“It was a great moment. We all got carried away, but that’s what sport is. When you win a game like that, you celebrate even more. That was one of the great cricket matches I have been part of,” Ganguly said.

BCCI secretary Shah shares photograph of ‘magnificent Motera’

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah on Sunday tweeted a photo of the new Motera Stadium, officially called the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium.

The stadium’s rebuilding work was done by February 2020 and was the venue for ‘Namaste Trump,’ the inaugural visit of US President Donald Trump in February 24.

“Magnificent Motera! #SardarPatelStadium,” said Shah in his tweet alongwith a photograph of the stadium.

With a seating capacity 110,000 spectators, the stadium overtakes the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) as the largest cricket stadium in the world. It is also the second largest stadium in the world overall, only behind 114,000 capacity Rungrado 1st of May Stadium in Pyongyang, North Korea.

While the Motera is the largest cricket venue in the world, Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) Secretary Mahendra Sharma announced that Jaipur shall be getting the third largest cricket stadium in the world.

The world-class green stadium shall have modern grand pavilion stands, corporate boxes, plush sports field, modern club house and many other world class features for indoor games and sports training facilities, said Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) Secretary Mahendra Sharma. He added that the stadium will be spread over 100 acres of land.

“The land has been finalised in Chonp village, 25 km from Jaipur on the Jaipur-Delhi Highway and the construction is expected to begin in the next four months,” he added.

Sharma informed that this will be the third largest stadium after the Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad and the MCG.

Actress and former beauty queen Urvashi Rautela says her boyfriend is like “February 30” in a hilarious new post on social media.

Urvashi took to Instagram, where she shared a picture of herself. In the image, she is seen dressed in a light pink sweatshirt and blue jeans. She completed her look by leaving her tresses open and sporting minimum make-up.

“My boyfriend is like the February 30th. He doesn’t exist,” she wrote alongside the image.

She added: “VIRGIN BHANUPRIYA premiers JULY 16th. Thanks a trillion guys for immense love for the trailer. I LOVE YOU.”

“Virgin Bhanupriya” also features Gautam Gulati, Archana Puran Singh, Delnaaz Irani, Rajiv Gupta and Brijendra Kala, Niki Aneja Walia and Rumana Molla.

Bhanupriya, played by Urvashi, is a college-going conservative girl who decides to lose her virginity. She thinks it should be the easiest thing in today’s world. However, all her attempts go in vain and, a soothsayer predicts, it won’t happen ever in her life. What happens next forms the crux of the story.

The film, which bypasses the big screen and opens directly on OTT, will release on July 16.

The Ajay Lohan directorial is presented by Hanwant Khatri and Lalit Kiri.
