Govt in Kerala is seeking to raise around Rs 2500 crores for Covid-19 relief operations

The Left government in Kerala is seeking to raise around Rs 2500 crores for Covid-19 relief operations from contributions made by government employees. The government has urged employees to donate one month’s salary. The state has rolled out this request as Salary Challenge.

The cabinet meeting approved Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s recommendation to introduce the salary challenge to meet the challenges of Covid-19.During 2018 megafloods, the chief minister made a similar appeal and collected around Rs 2000 crores through voluntary donations made by government staff.

Around 5.9 lakh government employees participated in the challenge. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan donated Rs 1 lakh as salary challenge and all cabinet ministers and their staff voluntarily joined by donating their one month salary.

But Leader of Opposition Ramesh Chennithala and BJP state President K Surendran objected government’s move to cut April month’s salary from government employees on the ground that such mandatory salary cuts would lead to financial stress.Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan revealed that state financial situation was moving from bad to worst and hard decisions need to be taken to tide over the financial crisis during Covid-19.

“Kerala is passing through a most challenging period while fighting the pandemic. We are using all our resources to save our people. Thousands of medical professionals are working round-the-clock risking their lives to save the people who are infected. I appeal to all to donate one month’s salary to CM Disaster Relief Fund to support government initiatives,” the chief minister appealed.

Anushka Sharma shared an adorable picture with Her Husband

A while ago Anushka Sharma took to her Instagram to share an adorable picture with hubby Virat Kohli and their pet, alongside she has written a long note where she has mentioned how this quarantine period is helping her realise what is truly important in life.
Anushka shared a happy frame of the trio and averred, “Every dark cloud had a silver lining.

And this time, while it may seem like the worst time and in so many ways it actually is, has also forcefully made us all stop and deal with things we might have been running away from because either we were ‘busy’ or it was convenient to say we were ‘busy’. If this time is respected for what it is, it will enable more light to shine through. This time has also made us all realise what’s truly important. For me just having food, water and a roof over my head and the good health of my family seems MOST important. Everything else is a bonus that I bow my head in gratitude for. But, that which we call ‘basic’ is not so basic for everyone after looking at all the people who struggle for just those few things. My prayers with them and their families. May everyone be safe and secure.”

Furthermore, she went to say, “This time has surely made me more reflective. This need to stay at home with your loved ones has been forced upon the entire world but there is a deep lesson for us all. There is a lesson to strive for work and life balance ( I’ve valued and strived for this dearly for many years now ), there is a lesson to devote more time in things that actually matter. Today, when I’m surrounded by all the blessings in my life, I just want to tell everyone how much compassion I feel for everyone who I see suffer. I want to help as many possible in the best of my abilities. I feel pride in our resilience to be better human beings. I can instinctively feel this in and around me. We will all have our individual and subjective lessons from this time and hopefully, such lessons will continuously stay with us all”.

Recent Corona Cases In Telangana

On March 10th, a Muslim religious gathering opposite the Nizamuddin Markaz Mosque in Delhi had visitors from countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and Kyrgyzstan for a prayer meeting organised by Tableeghi Jamaat. Later the same area hosted prayer meets for the next couple of days.

While the Indonesians who are tested positive for Covid-19 in Telangana, are from the same gathering, it looks like the deadly coronavirus has spread to others from there. A while ago, the Telangana government confirmed that those people from the state who attended that prayer met post high risk of testing positive for Covid-19. Already six people who went to that prayer are dead, including two at Gandhi Hospital, one each at Global and Apollo hospitals, one at Gadvel and another one at Nizamabad hospitals.

While people close to these positive-tested and dead persons are identified and quarantined at government facilities, Telangana government now asked all other from Telangana who attended the prayer meets from March 13-15 at Delhi Markaz mosque, to visit government hospital for Covid-19 testing immediately.

Even in Delhi, most of the positive cases are from Nizamuddin area only and already this whole place is locked down, restricting all the movements. Other day police started testing people in batches, and after testing 200 persons they found 7 positive cases. It’s being said that nearly 1000 people have come in contact with foreign Covid-19 carriers on those days.

Modi announced the Found Amount

It’s already known that India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the setting up of PM’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM-CARES) fund last Saturday and asked everyone to donate to that account in order to take part in country’s battle against Covid-19 pandemic.

But when an RTI activist queried about the fund, it has come out that some unrevealed trustees are acting as the caretakers of the fund. And the big question is, when there is PM’s National Relief Fund already, which gives 100% income tax rebate for the donors, what is the need to setup PM-CARES?

Talking about the same, Congress MP Sashi Tharoor tweeted, “Why not simply rename PMNRF as PM-CARES, given the PM’s penchant for catchy acronyms, instead of creating a separate Public Charitable Trust whose rules & expenditure are totally opaque?”, asking Modi to give an explanation to the people of the country.

Another RTI query revealed that PMNRF has almost Rs 3900 crores unspent balance, which is raised by Congress again, asking Modi as to why he has set up this new fund. Also Congress questions why no opposition leaders or other prominent persons from civil society are made trustees of the fund.

Lavanya Tripati and Praneeta donated to Corona Crisis Charity

Until hero Nithin has come forward donating 10 lakhs each to Telugu states CM Funds, no other big star moved his foot to talk about it. Following him, superstars including Chiranjeevi, Prabhas, Mahesh Babu, Ram Charan, Jr NTR, Allu Arjun and others have immediately donated to state governments, PM Cares Fund and also for the #CoronaCrisisCharity fund set up by TFI for Telugu industry’s daily wage workers.

Cut to star heroines like Kajal Aggarwal, Samantha, Tamanna, Nayantara and others who charge more than a couple of crores for each film, not even a lakh of donation has happened till now. Despite the fact that these starlets made it big in Tollywood, the way they are tight-lipped during crisis is a shocker. But not everyone will be the same. Heroine Lavanya Tripathi has donated 1 lakh for Corona Crisis Charity, claiming that it is her duty to help the people of the industry she is part of.

And then, Kannada girl Praneetha has started an initiative called Help the Helping Hands and pledged to donate 1 lakh to help 50 families with groceries and essentials. Also, she joined hands for a fundraiser with an NGO and the process is going good so far.

Hope these two starlets inspire other highest-paid actresses of the town to come forward and put their hand into their purse for the welfare of daily wage workers of Telugu cinema.

Inspiration Couple In Bollywood

This is one of the expressions that simply rejects to go away from the minds of many people, including husbands and wives. Former heroine Twinkle Khanna, who has recently revealed that conversation that took placed between Akshay and her, has later used this expression. And here is why it is inspiring many out there.

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has come forward to donate 25 crores money to the PM Cares Fund to support the country’s battle against coronavirus. Talking about the same, Twinkle revealed that she asked her husband if it is a good idea to liquidate everything and give that money, Akshay told her that he came to the industry with nothing and won’t think twice to give it back.

And then other day, while saying that she went to the hospital for leg related checkup, she again said, “This Sunday, my husband’s pocket is lighter, our hearts have never been more full and my foot is bloody broken. A happy Sunday to you as well”. Surely many couples out there are thinking to do the charity, as per their financial strength, in order to feel their purse lighter and hearts full, like Twinkle.

At the same time, Akshay’s donation has also inspired many other Bollywood stars and starlets to come forward to do their bit of charity.

Mega Fans Are Trolling Allu Arjun

Recently when Chiru debuted on Twitter, it took a day and a half for Allu Arjun to tweet a welcome note for his uncle, and only after the elder brother did, the younger one Allu Sirish put a tweet about it.

But the real twist is, though Allu Arjun has put up a tweet for Chiru, the Megastar never replied. While he has give pinpointed replies that are filled with warmth for most celebs including Nithin and others, he didn’t reply to Allu Arjun or Geetha Arts on that note.

And when Chiru constituted the Corona Crisis Committee, it could be noticed that Allu Arvind is not a part of it, giving rise to more suspensions. While it has the likes of Suresh Babu and Tammareddy as the members of hi-power committee, many felt Arvind’s presence would have become a value addition.

Whatever it may, if things are happening just per the flow and onlookers are taking it in the wrong direction, its fine. But hope that there are no cracks between Chiru and Arvind, because the whole industry says that today Chiru reached that stage due to Arvind’s support, while Arvind stood tall in the industry due to Chiru’s pillar-like presence.
