Indian men’s and women’s hockey teams benefit from yoga

The Indian Men and Women’s Hockey Teams have incorporated yoga into their routines, recognizing the numerous benefits it brings to their physical and mental well-being. On International Yoga Day, members of the teams shared how the ancient practice has positively impacted their performance.

Hardik Singh, the vice-captain of the Indian Men’s Team, initially found yoga challenging but later realized its value in enhancing mindfulness and recovery from injuries. The practice has helped them focus better and feel more relaxed. Navneet Kaur, Vice Captain of the Indian Women’s Team, emphasized the stress management and flexibility benefits of yoga, particularly after intense training sessions.

The teams are currently engaged in training camps and competitions, with their sights set on the Asian Games and qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. They acknowledge the importance of giving their all in every aspect of their preparation and appreciate the professional training environment provided at SAI, Bengaluru.
