Master Blaster, God of Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar played under a lot of captains during his stint as an International cricketer. Among all, Sachin lauds Dhoni as the best captain under whom he has played. ‘Dhoni has been undoubtedly the best captain under whom I played. My lifetime achievement of lifting the Cricket World Cup took place under Mahi’s captaincy,’ quoted Sachin many times. Sachin did appreciate Dhoni on the field, off-field many times.
In a recent book titled ‘Democracy Eleven’ written by famous Journalist Rajdeep Sardesai, Sachin again had all praises for Dhoni.
According to the book, it was quoted that, Sachin said ‘Whenever I watched Dhoni on the field, he always reminded me of my father. The first time we met, Dhoni had shown immense respect. Dhoni always remained calm and cool even if it was a win or a loss. And he expected the same from every player in the team. This particular nature of Dhoni was similar to what my father exhibited during his time.’
One has to also remember that fact that, Sachin enjoyed his freestyle batting under Dhoni’s captaincy. Sachin was famously known for his freestyle batting style during the mid-1990’s, where he brutally thrashed every bowling attack worldwide. Despite achieving and breaking many records, Sachin eventually retired when Dhoni was the captain.
