Director Maruthi is having a golden time in his life. His films as co-producer and director became commercial hits. Though he started his career by directing small-time heroes, and upcoming actors, he later turned to Nani for ‘Bhale Bhale Magadivoi’.

The film was a commercial hit at the Telugu box office. With that movie, he emerged as one of the leading directors, capable of giving commercial hits with a moderate budget. Story, screenplay, and direction are his main strengths in his films. Maruthi struck gold once again with Mahanubhavudu, starring Sharwanand in the lead role.

Currently, the director is busy with his upcoming film ‘Sailaja Reddy Alludu’ starring Naga Chaitanya. Official sources have confirmed, director Maruthi has chosen to cast Anu Emmanuel as Sailaja Reddy Alludu heroine. In Maruthi’s film, there is a good scope for the heroine, and the role demands acting skills. But Anu Emmanuel’s is only known for ‘flaunting her glamour’ than her acting skills. She even had a disaster outing with Agnyaathavaasi movie recently.

Film analysts expressed that, Anu Emmanuel may not be able to do justice to the role as the movie demands. But it looks like the director has shown immense trust in her. Only time will tell, whether this risk taken by director Maruthi will work in favor or against the film.

In the past, Nandamuri Balakrishna announced that he would be producing a biopic film on legendary actor-cum-politician Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao. Everyone in the Telugu states expressed their happiness. The movie is named ‘NTR’ and the first poster of the movie has been released today, remembering the 22^nd death anniversary of the legend. The movie is being directed by director Teja.

After Balakrishna announced biopic on NTR, Ram Gopal Varma came up with ‘Lakshmi’s NTR’ and Kethireddy Jagadishwar Reddy came up with ‘Lakshmi’s Veeragrandham’. The announcement of these two films caused a worry in the Telugu people, who felt that these two films will damage and destroy the legacy of the legend.

With time, things settled down. RGV came up with a new film with Nagarjuna, and released a video featuring pornstar Mia Malkova under the title ‘God, Sex and Truth’. Similarly, Kethireddy became silent and was nowhere seen. But this director once again made headlines with his latest comments.

Talking to media representatives, at the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Lord Venkateswara temple, he said ‘I am coming up with a new movie titled Sasilalitha. The film will reveal many hidden and unknown facts, and the relationship of Sasikala and Jayalalitha’.

Shockingly the director made no comments about his previous venture ‘Lakshmi’s Veeragrandham’ during his speech. One has to wait and see how the Tamils would react to Kethireddy’s latest comments.

After the Telugu film industry started to incorporate the latest changes in technology, filmmaking became expensive. Another reason for the budget of a film to soar high is the staggering remuneration producers pay to the hero. It is not surprising to know that a hero’s remuneration alone accounts for half the budget of the movie.

In Hollywood, production houses don’t pay remuneration to lead actors and the director. Instead, they pay them a salary and share the movie’s profits upon release. Tollywood too is likely to go on the same path. In the past, Ram Gopal Varma stated that he wouldn’t be paying any money to his actors. Instead, he would share the profits of the film. Currently, the Ram Charan – Jr NTR multistarrer is going on to sets with on the same lines.

Rajamouli asked producer DVV Danayya to allot Rs. 100 crores as the budget. This estimate excludes the remuneration of the heroes and the director. These three would be sharing the profits, after the film’s release. This brings the production costs down and also puts the producer in a safe zone in case the film doesn’t perform as expected. This is definitely a welcome movie in the Telugu film industry.

Many Indian filmmakers have been complaining about the lack of freedom, in making films of their choice in India. Though we live in a secular nation, the secularism is only restricted to political speeches and election promises. In India, a film has to go through communal and religious scrutiny even before it is released. The upcoming Bollywood movie ‘Padmavat (previously Padmavathi) starring Deepika Padukone has been facing a similar situation.

The movie is helmed and produced by director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Even before the film’s release, various BJP-ruled state governments have announced a ban on the film. After Sanjay Leela Bhansali moved the Supreme Court, the apex court permitted the filmmaker to release the movie across the nation.

The Chief Justice of India asked the questioned (BJP) state governments to explain why they are against the release of the film in their states. ‘I’m really shocked at those state government’s attitudes. When the CBFC itself has given a U/A, what is the problem with these governments?’

During the shooting of the film, Karni Sena and other religious organizations indulged in vandalizing the movie sets, furniture and other valuables. This has incurred great loses to the producer. The film is slated to release on 25^th January 2018 nation-wide.

These comments came to light after Katthi Mahesh praised pornstar Mia Malkova and Ram Gopal Varma’s film ‘God, Sex and Truth’, in his tweet.

Replying to Poonam Kaur, Ram Gopal Varma once again showed his unique styling in trolling celebrities. He said, ‘I God promisingly feeling that…. It’s no way slipper shot to @Kathimahesh’. His tweet clearly shows how he can troll (Katthi Mahesh in this case) in a subtle manner.

T Subbarami Reddy is a well-known politician, industrialist, and philanthropist. He also produced the movie ‘Bhagavad Gita’ in 1993 in Sanskrit, that won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film. He is more seen at film events and celebrity’s functions than in the Parliament. Every now and then he comes up with an awards program, awarding many film celebrities. Many have ridiculed him in the past for the same.

T Subbarami Reddy (TSR) awarded, ‘Viswa Nata Sarvabhouma’ title to Dr. Mohan Babu during an event, organized by TSR himself. No one really knows why TSR has given the award to Mohanbabu. While people claim that, TSR doesn’t need any reason or a strong cause to present awards. He just presents them whenever he wants to, and to whomever, he wishes too.

The absurd behavior of TSR and Mohanbabu has come under fire. Today, the 18^th of January marks the 22^nd death anniversary of legendary actor-cum-politician, and former CM Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, or simple NTR. The recent title presented to Mohanbabu resembles the title, ‘Viswa Vikyatha Nata Sarvabhouma’ held by NTR.

Telugu Bullet feels that Mohan Babu who proclaims himself as an ardent devotee and fan of NTR should have rejected the title. Even in practical terms, Mohanbabu doesn’t deserve this title on any given day. Presenting Awards and Titles might be a strategic move from TSR. But he should realize that Telugu people are not fools to fall prey for such cheap things.

Rajinikanth’s 2.0 breaks Baahubali 2 Movie

The whole nation waited eagerly for Rajamouli’s Baahubali. Both parts of the franchise created records and made India proud at the global level. Baahubali – The Conclusion which released on 28^th April 2017, went on to become the biggest cinema in India. Pulling everyone out of Baahubali mania is the Rajinikanth’s starter 2.0, helmed by director Shankar and bankrolled by Lyca Productions.

The film is being produced on a budget of Rs. 450 crores, more than the total budget of Baahubali Franchise. Such is the massive scale of the movie.

Baahubali – The Beginning which saw a stupendous success in every part of India, made roads for astronomical theatrical prices for its second party. Baahubali – The Conclusion Malayalam version was sold for Rs. 10 crores, and had a wide release in 300 screens in the God’s own country, Kerala. Surpassing this is Rajinikanth’s 2.0.

The Malayalam version of 2.0 fetched Rs. 16 crores for the production company. The 2.0 Malayalam theatrical rights were purchased by August Cinema, a distribution company owned by actor Arya and cinematographer Santosh Sivan.

2.0 will be releasing in more than 500 screens in Kerala alone. The film is slated to release on April 27^th, 2018. Rajinikanth, Amy Jackson, and Akshay Kumar are playing the lead roles in the film.

Power Star Pawan Kalyan starrer ‘Agnyaathavaasi’ which released on Jan 10^th, bombed at the box office. After opening to poor reviews, the film’s collections had a 97% freefall, the highest in the Tollywood history, in seat occupancy in the US on its second day. Though the film remains as the biggest flop in recent times, given the budget, pre-release business and gross, the film manages to rake up some decent numbers.

The film has collected Rs. 59.7 crores as gross, and Rs. 39.15 crores as share in the Telugu states. The film amassed a total of Rs. 88.7 crores as gross, and Rs. 54.95 crores as share worldwide. Allotment of extra shows, increase in ticket prices and the US premier collections helped the movie to rake these numbers.

Another film released for 2018 Sankranti was Balakrishna’s ‘Jai Simha’. The film released on January 12^th. The movie received a mixed to negative review upon release. But luckily, due to the complete failure of Agnyaathavaasi, Jai Simha managed to have a decent run and emerged as an ‘average’ grosser.

The movie raked up Rs. 23.93 crores worldwide, and Rs. 19.7 crores in the Telugu states. With no films at the box-office until January 26^th, Jai Simha can end up with Rs. 21.5 crores in the Telugu states. The movie’s distributors are already in safe position and are likely to earn scrapings towards its final run.
