Ram Gopal Varma tried his best in trying to create some buzz around the movie but unfortunately, the film could not make much money on the first day. The mornings shows witnessed good occupancies in some centers but the bad word of mouth has resulted in the decline of the footfalls at the theatres towards the end of the day.

Ram Gopal Varma just tried to create the hype and garner the attention with the movie in which he became successful. As usual, he failed in coming up with an engaging product. Quality-wise, the film is better than his last movie Lakshmi’s NTR but content-wise, we lost him long back. The producers might not get any huge figures in terms of theatrical revenue.

Veteran actor Gollapudi Maruti Rao no more

Telugu actor Gollapudi Maruti Rao passed away here on Thursday at a hospital in Chennai. He was 80. Born on April 14, 1939, in Vizianagaram, Rao ventured into the film industry with Intlo Ramaiah Veedilo Krishnaiah and went on to act in over 250 films. He authored various books, novels, and plays.

He worked as Station Incharge and host in All India Radio. He used to write columns and stories in various books. He slowly moved to Theater writing but never left AIR. Annapurna Pictures establisher, Dukkipati Madhusudhan Rao read his stories and novels, also heard his criticism about recent films.

So, he approached him to write for films. Gollapudi did not take up the job immediately and it is lyrics writer Dasaradhi, who convinced him to take screen-writing. He started with dialogues and then wrote screenplays for several films. Watching his typical body language and acting prowess, Kodi Ramakrishna encouraged him to act in Intlo Ramayya Veedhilo Krishnayya. Gollapudi reluctantly agreed but he became one of the top actors in Telugu Cinema.

Even though Kaikala Satyanarayana, Allu Ramalingaiah, Prabhakar Reddy and Rao Gopal Rao were established as character actors before his introduction, he became as popular as they were and even completed 290 films as character actor. His performances in films Kallu, Samasaram Oka Chadarangam, Intlo Ramayya Veedhilo Krishnayya, and his typical dialogue delivery made him a must in films.

Later, he became a comic actor and his nose has become a center point for many jokes. He is survived by his son. Maruti Rao had two sons and the younger one, Srinivas died too early. On Srinivas’s name, Gollapudi Maruthi Rao established a theatre group and an award to encourage stage artists. Telugu Cinema will miss a legend like him.

The Boys Season 2 Trailer Teases More of the Same in 2020

Less than five months on from the release of season 1, Amazon Prime Video dropped a surprise teaser trailer for The Boys season 2 at the 2019 Comic-Con Experience (CCXP) in São Paulo, Brazil over the weekend.

Being a one-and-a-half-minute teaser, The Boys season 2 trailer doesn’t give much away. It opens with an aghast Homelander (Starr), caked in blood, looking at something off-screen, before jumping through the other aforementioned cast members. Billy (Urban) seems to have upgraded himself to sniper and automatic rifles. An intubated A-Train (Jessie T. Usher) — who suffered a heart attack at the end of season 1 due to the performance-enhancing drug Compound-V — lies on a hospital bed. And Hughie (Quaid) greets someone with someone else’s severed hand.

After the halfway mark of The Boys season 2 teaser, which arrives with the “Let Me Live / Let Me Die” song lyric “It’s killing time”, there’s a lot of blood splatter as it switches gears into the more action-oriented fare. Essentially, The Boys season 2 trailer wants you to know that the adult-only Amazon superhero series will continue to deliver on the blood and gore that season 1 was known for. The trailer then ends with Billy sipping a cup of tea and smiling to himself.

In addition to the ones seen in the trailer, The Boys season 2 also stars Aya Cash (You’re the Worst) as Stormfront, a superhero character originally written as male in Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s comic book series, on which the show is based. Eric Kripke (Supernatural) created the show and serves as an executive producer alongside Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.

The Boys season 2 will release in 2020 on Amazon Prime Video worldwide.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Sister Syama Tamshi Dies At 26 After Battle With Cancer

Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui‘s sibling Syama Tamshi Siddiqui expired on Saturday after a lengthy contest with cancer, said news agency PTI, citing family sources. She was 26. Syama Tamshi Siddiqui was diagnosed with an advanced stage of breast cancer at the age of 18, which the Sacred Games actor had revealed in a post earlier. According to PTI, Nawazuddin Siddiqui was busy with the shooting schedule of Bangladeshi filmmaker Mostofa Sarwar Farooki’s upcoming film No Land’s Man in the US when the news of his sister’s death reached him. The funeral was held at Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s ancestral village Budhana in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, reported PTI.

In October last year, Nawazuddin Siddiqui had tweeted about his sister’s battle with cancer on her 25th birthday and wrote this emotional note: “My sister was diagnosed with advanced-stage breast cancer at 18 though it held her will strength and determination that made her survive against all the odds. She turns 25 today and (is) still fighting…” read Nawazuddin’s tweet, who also added a thank you note for the doctors “for motivating” Syama.

On the work front, Nawazuddin Siddiqui was last seen in the comedy Motichoor Chaknachoor, in which he co-starred with Athiya Shetty. The movie received a cold response at the box office. He also has Bole Chudiyan in his line-up. In November, Nawazuddin Siddiqui attended the International Emmy Awards in New York to represent Netflix series Sacred Games and UK series McMafia, of which the latter won the Best Drama Series.

after playing an elderly shooter in Saand Ki Aankh, Taapsee Pannu will now be seen wearing cricket gloves and pads in her upcoming film. The actress is playing the lead role in Indian women’s cricket captain Mithali Raj’s biopic, Shabaash Mithu.

While there were reports that the Pink actress will be playing the role of the cricketer in the latter’s biopic, Taapsee never confirmed the same. Today, on Mithali Raj’s birthday Taapsee took to social media to announce the news.

Taapsee Pannu shared several pictures of herself with the skipper in which Mithali is seen cutting a cake. Along with the pictures, Taapsee wrote, “Happy Happy Birthday Captain @mithaliraj! You have made all of us proud in more than many ways and it’s truly an honor to be chosen to showcase your journey on screen. Last year, when the news of Taapsee Pannu being signed for the said biopic broke, PTI asked the actress about it. To which, the Badla actress had replied, “The script is not in place so it’s too early to talk about it. Right now, they are gathering stock and the story has not been addressed yet. If they offer me, I will be very happy. I want to do a sports biopic.”

It seems Taapsee’s wish has been granted as she will be seen in several sports biopics, last being Saand Ki Aankh.

In the news constantly, the menace of fake certificates wreaking havoc in the lives of students and young professionals is surely a great one to take up as a plotline. Nikhil Siddharth, who has awaited this film’s release for more than six months (since it got certified in May last) is a journalist on a mission: to expose wrongdoings and maintain an ideal, professional working style in whatever he takes up.

Disaster strikes when he is ensnared in a duplicate certificate racket, which dents his credibility and denies him his dream job with the BBC, who show him the door owing to his doubtful academic qualifications. No wonder, it becomes a one-man mission as he goes about bashing his way through, in a bid to unearth the truth, all along the 149-minute run time of the movie.

The Tamil original, which also was long in the making before it got released and earned a decent turnover ultimately, stood out because of the vulnerable status of the hero ( Atharva) who is constantly edged out by a chilling, menacing villain who matches him step for step. Tarun Arora is retained from the original to play the bad guy and he replays the role once again, to limited impact.

This is because the twists and turns, which made the viewers sit up and await the unfolding of events in the original somehow fails miserably in the Telugu version, which is reduced to being a superhero venture, with a beefed-up hero bashing the bad guys over and over. Somehow the suspenseful undertone which one saw in ‘Kanithan’ is missing in ‘Arjun Suravaram’ which remains a non-stop slam-bang, actioner without an emotional connect. Lavanya Tripathi resurfaces like the hero after a break and she too has nothing much to do, despite being the daughter of the channel owner where her beau is breaking new stories. Ultimately, it all ends up as a run-of-the-mill potboiler which underexploited the potential the story had, adding no value to the team which came up with it in the first place.

Marvel announced Friday that the next film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, centered on Scarlett Johansson’s titular character, will release a day earlier in India. Additionally, Marvel also revealed that the Black Widow movie would have five local language voice dubs in India: Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. This is the first time Disney is releasing a Marvel movie in India in six languages — don’t forget English — having first undertaken that task with Terminator: Dark Fate, which released earlier in November.

In the works for several years, Black Widow was officially confirmed at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con back in July, with a global release date of May 1, 2020. In addition to Johansson as Natasha Romanoff, the standalone Black Widow movie stars David Harbour (Stranger Things) as Alexei Shostakov / Red Guardian, the Russian counterpart of Captain America in the comics; Florence Pugh (Lady Macbeth) as Yelena Belova / (second) Black Widow, a sister-figure to Romanoff; O-T Fagbenle (The Handmaid’s Tale) as Mason, a S.H.I.E.L.D. ally and Romanoff’s love interest; and Rachel Weisz (The Favourite) as Melina / (third) Black Widow, a seasoned spy.

Robert Downey Jr. will reprise his role as Tony Stark / Iron Man in Black Widow as well. If that’s confusing, given what happened in Avengers: Endgame earlier this year, it’s because the Black Widow movie is set after the events of 2016’s Captain America: Civil War. Behind the scenes, Cate Shortland (Lore) is directing Black Widow, off a script by Jac Schaeffer and Ned Benson.

Filming began on Black Widow in May in Norway and the UK and moved to Budapest, Hungary in June, and then Georgia, USA, and Morocco in the following months. Production wrapped up in October. Black Widow is one of six Marvel movies in Phase Four of the MCU, alongside The Eternals in November 2020, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in February 2021, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in May 2021, a sequel to Spider-Man: Far From Home in July 2021, and Thor: Love and Thunder in November 2021.

Black Widow will release April 30, 2020, in India in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. It’s out May 1, 2020, elsewhere.
