Indian PM Modi reviews the safety of citizens in war-torn Sudan. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a video conference with senior officials, including External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, to assess the situation in Sudan and evaluate the safety of over 3,000 Indian citizens currently located throughout the country.
The PM expressed his condolences for the recent death of an Indian national who was struck by a stray bullet in Sudan. He directed officials to remain vigilant, monitor developments, and evaluate the safety of Indian nationals in Sudan.
Jaishankar has already met with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in New York to discuss the situation and has spoken to foreign ministers of the UAE and Egypt as well. Fighting in Sudan has led to around 300 deaths, including an Indian citizen, and the Indian foreign ministry has advised Indian citizens in the capital city of Khartoum not to venture to the Indian embassy, which is in a war zone.
