According to JB Park, President and CEO of Samsung Southwest Asia, the ‘Make in India‘ digital lending platform, Samsung Finance+, has played a crucial role in enabling millions of Indian consumers to afford their favorite smartphones and participate in the country’s digital transformation. Launched in 2019, Samsung Finance+ has driven smartphone business worth over $1 billion by the end of 2022.

Park’s vision for India was to democratize technology and make it more affordable for consumers. It has offered several affordability options, allowing customers to get 5G smartphones for just Rs 44 per day or Rs 1,320 per month. The company aims to conduct about 75% of its smartphone business through 5G devices this year, after leading the Indian market in 5G smartphone shipments last year.

Finance+ was introduced as the world’s first digital lending platform with instant offers for Galaxy smartphone buyers. Developed in India at the R&D Institute Bangalore, the platform allows consumers with no credit history to obtain loans for purchasing Galaxy smartphones. In its fifth year, Finance+ has expanded to 70,000 stores, significantly contributing to the smartphone business.

JB Park also expressed amazement at India’s rapid digital transformation through smartphones over the years. It’s’Galaxy Unpacked’ event is scheduled for July 26, during which the company will unveil new foldables and other devices.

Google Docs will now incorporate line numbers automatically

Google has introduced a new feature in Google Docs that automatically displays line numbers for documents set to paged mode. These line numbers are automatically calculated and appear next to each line in the document. Users have the flexibility to configure line numbers for the entire document, a specific page, or a particular section, and they will be preserved when printing.

The addition of line numbers aims to facilitate easier referencing of specific content positions in documents, especially when collaborating with others on lengthy or complex content.

The feature is being rolled out to all Google Workspace customers and users with personal Google Accounts. It does not have any admin control, meaning all users will have access to it.

In addition to this update, Google has also recently introduced the ‘Alt text’ option in the ‘Image options’ sidebar of Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drawings. Furthermore, the “first open experience” in Docs on Android devices has been revamped to start in edit mode, providing a more streamlined and efficient user experience.

Earlier, in June, Google made ‘paginated mode’ the default setting on Docs for Android, which incorporates pages and page breaks in the app for a more cohesive visual design between the web and mobile versions.

On Tuesday, Indian badminton player Kidambi Srikanth secured a place in the Round of 16 at the Japan Open 2023 tournament by defeating Chou Tien Chen from Chinese Taipei. The former world number one Srikanth outplayed Chou Tien Chen with a scoreline of 21-13, 21-13 in a round of 32 match that lasted for 43 minutes.
