After Adipurush, It’s HHVM: Pawan Kalyan’s Film Sets New Benchmark with Massive VFX

After Adipurush, it’s now Pawan Kalyan’s epic-period drama Hari Hara Veera Mallu (HHVM) that’s creating a huge stir in the world of VFX-driven Indian cinema. With the film currently in its post-production phase, the buzz around its visual grandeur is stronger than ever.

Directed by Jyothi Krisna, the movie reportedly features over 6,000 VFX shots, making it the second most VFX-heavy Indian film, just behind Adipurush, which had 8,000 VFX shots.

The production team, under the experienced eye of AM Rathnam, has gone all out to ensure a cinematic spectacle:

  • 2 hours of high-quality VFX in the final cut

  • 10 VFX layers per shot, ensuring immersive visuals

  • VFX handled by top studios overseas

  • Budget: ₹340 crore, with the climax alone costing ₹25 crore

To maintain precision and reduce on-set errors, the team employed full-scale previsualization — the entire movie was first animated before live-action filming even began. This strategic move helped wrap up production in just 10 months.

Interestingly, AM Rathnam, the producer, holds the distinction of being one of the pioneers of VFX in Indian cinema with Bharateeyudu (1995). Today, he continues to push the envelope with HHVM.
