Claiming that NTR has footed the steps better than Ram Charan, and vice-versa, the actors’ fans began to argue, resulting in online fan wars. Leaving the comment section spoiled, some of the Internet users have written cuss words as well.

‘Naatu Naatu’ fans have found differences between NTR’s and Ram Charan’s dance moves, pointing at many mistakes, which went unseen earlier.

As the director S.S. Rajamouli claimed to have shot many takes to ensure perfect synchronization, fans began blasting him for missing many moves that were not the same.

Despite their two losses in four matches in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Delhi Capitals’ all-rounder Shardul Thakur has said that the team is moving in the right direction.

The 30-year-old all-rounder Thakur, who has made vital contributions with the bat, making 53 runs with a strike rate of 196.30 and taking three wickets in four matches so far, expressed that he wants to make an impact in every game.

“The team is moving in the right direction and our Head Coach Ricky Ponting has always told us to play our natural game no matter what the situation is. He backs us so we always try to give our best,” Thakur said.

Thakur also spoke about the importance of all-rounders in T20s, “We have great depth in our batting. The more all-rounders are there, the better it is for any team in T20s. If we lose quick wickets at the top, then the role of the players batting at 6,7 & 8 becomes important.”

“The environment within the team is quite good. There are a lot of youngsters in the team and we are all friends as we’ve been playing together for some time. I like to make an impact in every match I play and that’s why I play with a lot of energy,” the all-rounder added.

Thakur also spoke about his main focus as a cricketer, “I look to enjoy playing cricket. I have worked hard to reach this stage so I don’t want to put myself under any kind of pressure. Even when the crowd cheers for our opponents in the stadium, I look to enjoy those situations.”

The Delhi Capitals will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore in their next match of the TATA IPL 2022 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday, April 16.

Vijay recalls cycling down to polling booth in rare interview

Actor Vijay, who is called ‘Thalapathy’ in Tamil Nadu, finally appeared in front of a TV channel for an interview, ahead of the release of his film ‘Beast’.

The ‘Theri’ actor had an elaborate interaction, as he spoke of an unexpected incident in his life.

Previously, during the Tamil Nadu elections in 2021, the ‘Master’ star made headlines by cycling from his home to the polling station, attracting a large crowd of bikers on the road who kept up with him.

Recalling the incident, Vijay said, “The booth is really close to my house. As I came out to start off, my son told me to take his bicycle, as I was wondering how to park my car at the polling booth.”

Vijay further explained, “I just went with the idea, only to realize that I was followed by many, and many news channels even aired it live. I didn’t expect such a huge reaction. Seeing it, my son called and asked, ‘Is my cycle good?’ I just laughed off.”

Vijay, however, had refrained from media interviews and appearing for movie promotions on media channels for a long time now.

Quoting the reason behind his decision not to appear before the media, Vijay stated that he was once misquoted by a newspaper, and hence forbid himself from attending movie-related interviews.

Vijay’s ‘Beast’ is all set for theatrical release on April 13, in which he is paired with Pooja Hegde.

‘Haemolymph’ teaser shows repercussions of lead character’s false implication

The teaser and poster of the upcoming biopic ‘Haemolymph’ were released on Tuesday.

The film, helmed by a debutant director and writer Sudarshan Gamare, is based on the false implication of a school teacher named Abdul Wahid Shaikh and it showcases how it ruined his life.

The teaser shows how an innocent school teacher gets falsely accused and how his and his family’s life is turned upside down. The poster also echoes the same communication. ‘Haemolymph’ – The invisible blood refers to the spilled blood of people who don’t matter or who are treated like insects.

Commenting on the launch, writer and director Sudarshan Gamare says, “A lot of people told me not to make this film as my first film, but when I heard about Wahid and started reading more, I thought this is an important film which needs to be told.”

“The more I started researching the more engrossed I got and started to think, about how one false implication can spoil not only the person’s life but also others around him. When we decided to make the film, I didn’t want it to be a biopic but I wanted to highlight certain stories whose lives have been ruined”, he adds.

The film, which stars newcomer Riyaz Anwar in the lead role of Abdul Wahid Shaikh, is slated to hit the theaters on May 27.

Talking about his role, Riyaz Anwar says, “When Sudarshan approached me with the thought of the film, I immediately jumped onto it. We both did a lot of readings and research, what hit us the most was how one false statement ruined an innocent’s life and the struggle he had to go through for 9 years to get the truth out.”

Produced by Tikatbari and AB Films Entertainment in association with Adiman Films and co-produced by ND9 Studios, the film has been written and directed by Sudarshan Gamare.

It also stars Rohit Kokate, Ankit Mhatre, Dutta Jadhav, Nilam Kulkarni, Ruchira Jadhav, Sunil Tambe, and Vijaya Mahajan, and Sagar Pable. Mujtaba Aziz Naza has done the background score with Rohan Rajan Mapuskar taking the onus of cinematography.

Hyderabad gets ‘Tree City of the World tag’ for second year

For a second consecutive year, Hyderabad has been recognized as a ‘Tree City of the World’ by the Arbor Day Foundation and the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations.

“Matter of immense pride that Hyderabad city is recognized for the 2nd consecutive year, among the three cities of the world by the Arbor Day Foundation and FAO -UN,” tweeted Arvind Kumar, special chief secretary, urban development, the government of Telangana.

As per the organization, 3,50,56,635 trees are planted in Hyderabad with 500 volunteer hours.

Last year, Hyderabad had become the only city in India to be recognized as a ‘Tree City of the World’ but this year Mumbai also joined the list.

Hyderabad and Mumbai are placed alongside 136 other cities from 21 countries. The United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada are the countries with the maximum cities featured on the list, with 37, 19, and 18 cities, respectively. The countries have been recognized for their commitment to growing and maintaining urban forests in building healthy, resilient, and happy cities.

According to Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), trees reduce costs for energy, stormwater management, and erosion control, boost property values by as much as 7-20 percent, build stronger ties among community members and increase community pride.

Other benefits of the trees include a contribution to food and nutrition, creating jobs and alleviating poverty, increasing community resilience to severe weather events, supporting climate change mitigation and adaptation, and having a positive impact on physical and mental health.

Botswana detects new Covid Omicron sub-variant

0

The Botswana Health Ministry says it has detected a new lineage of the Covid-19 Omicron variant.

The infected are currently being monitored to establish more information on the potential impact of the disease and its severity, the BBC reported.

The new sub-variant, designated as Omicron BA.4 and BA.5 has already been detected in three other countries and on four people in Botswana.

The four people were fully vaccinated and had been experiencing mild symptoms.

So far, no conclusions have been made to establish whether this sub-variant is more transmittable than the known Omicron variant.

This happens as the World Health Organisation announces it is tracking a few dozen cases of the two new sub-variants of the highly transmissible Omicron strain to assess whether they are more infectious or dangerous.

Ukraine war: Report of Mariupol chemical attack sparks US, UK concern

0

The US and the UK have said they are looking into reports that chemical weapons have been used by Russian forces attacking the Ukrainian port of Mariupol.

Ukraine’s Azov regiment has said three soldiers were injured by “a poisonous substance” in an attack on Monday.

UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said officials were working to “urgently” investigate what she called “a callous escalation” of the war, the BBC reported.

The Pentagon called the potential use of the weapons “deeply concerning”.

Western nations have warned that the use of chemical weapons would mark a dangerous escalation of the conflict and have pledged to take firm action if Russia carries out such attacks.

Ukraine’s Deputy Defence Minister Hanna Maliar said the government was investigating the allegations, adding that early assumptions suggested phosphorous ammunition had been used.

On Tuesday, pro-Russian separatist forces in Donetsk denied carrying out the attack.

The Azov battalion, which has been heavily involved in fighting in Mariupol and has strong ties to the far-right, wrote in a telegram post that Russian forces had dropped “a poisonous substance of unknown origin” during a drone attack at the city’s large Azovstal metals plant.

It said that its fighters had suffered minor injuries, including shortness of breath.

One injured man described a “sweet-tasting” white smoke covering an area of the plant after an explosion. Another said he felt immediately unable to breathe and had collapsed with “cotton legs”.

The reported incident — which the BBC cannot independently verify — came hours after a spokesperson for the Moscow-backed Donetsk People’s Republic urged Russia to bring in “chemical forces” to the besieged south-eastern city.

Eduard Basurin told Russian state TV the remaining Ukrainian forces in Mariupol were entrenched at the Azovstal plant and that Russia should encircle it and “smoke out the moles”.

Speaking on Monday evening, President Volodymyr Zelensky said any use of chemical weapons would mark a “new stage of terror against Ukraine” and called on Western nations to arm their forces with the weapons needed to defend their country.

“Unfortunately, we are not getting as much as we need to end this war sooner,” Zelensky said.

“I am sure that we will get almost everything we need, but not only time is being lost. The lives of Ukrainians are being lost — lives that can no longer be returned.”

UK Defence Minister James Heappey ruled nothing out in terms of a Western response if a chemical attack was confirmed.

“There are some things that are beyond the pale, and the use of chemical weapons will get a response and all options are on the table for what that response could be,” he said.

Earlier in March, US President Joe Biden said NATO “would respond” if Russia used chemical weapons in Ukraine.

“The nature of the response would depend on the nature of the use,” he added.

Malnutrition is often a result of lack of knowledge, says Modi

0

Stressing the need for spreading awareness about a balanced diet, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that malnutrition is often a result of a lack of knowledge about food rather than the lack of food itself.

Modi virtually inaugurated the hostel and education complex of Shri Annapurnadham Trust at Adalaj, Gujarat. He also performed the Bhumipujan of Hiramani ArogyaDham of Jansahayak Trust during the event. Chief Minister of Gujarat Bhupendrabhai Patel was among those present on the occasion.

“It has been the nature of Gujarat to contribute in the field of health, education, and nutrition. All communities play their part as per their capacity and Patidar community is never left behind in fulfilling their role for the society,” he said.

The Prime Minister noted that the Goddess of prosperity Maa Annapurna is deeply revered by all and especially by the Patidar Community which is deeply connected with the realities of everyday life. “The statue of Maa Annapurna was brought back from Canada to Kashi recently. Dozens of such symbols of our culture have been brought back from abroad in the last few years,” he said.

The Prime Minister said that in our culture, food, health and education is always given great importance and today, Shri Annapurnadham has expanded these elements. The Prime Minister said that the central government has started the facility of free dialysis in district hospitals.

Praising the ‘soft but determined’ Chief Minister for his leadership and emphasis on natural farming, the Prime Minister asked the gathering to push for natural farming wherever possible.

The Prime Minister further noted the rich tradition of development in Gujarat where ever new standards of development have been laid. “This tradition of development is being taken forward by the Chief Minister.”

He mentioned that in ‘Statue of Unity’ India has paid a great homage to Sardar Patel, whose name has reached all over the globe.

The Prime Minister said that in Gujarat, which is the land of Maa Annapurna, there should not be any place for malnutrition. He said that often malnutrition is also due to ignorance and stressed the need for spreading awareness about a balanced diet.

Terming food as the first step in the direction of health, the Prime Minister said malnutrition is often a result of a lack of knowledge about food rather than the lack of food itself.

The Prime Minister further mentioned that during the pandemic, the government ensured free food grain for more than 80 crore people.

Referring to his talk to the US president Monday night, Modi said that he told the US President that if WTO rules are relaxed to permit, India can offer foodgrains for sending to other countries. “By the grace of Maa Annapurna Indian farmers are already taking care of the world,” he said.

The Prime Minister praised the vaccination campaign in Gujarat. He also reiterated the need to promote skill development as per the needs of the latest trends in industrial development.

Referring to the initial impetus of creating a pharmacy college that led to the state’s preeminent role in the pharma industry, he said that efforts of the community and government in developing skills have a multiplier effect.

“Gujarat should lead the country in achieving the standards of industry 4.0, as the state has the capability and temperament to do so,” he said.

CoinSwitch Kuber temporarily disables rupee deposits

0

Crypto trading platform CoinSwitch Kuber has disabled all payments modes for crypto purchases on its platform, including bank transfers.

Users of the CoinSwitch mobile app are no longer able to make rupee deposits via Unified Payments Interface (UPI) or bank transfers via NEFT, RTGS, IMPS, and other methods.

The news comes days after Coinbase, one of the leading cryptocurrency exchanges, had reportedly suspended support for UPI payments instrument on its app in the country.

According to TechCrunch, users in India attempting to purchase any token listed on the Coinbase app are being informed that the UPI payment method is “currently unavailable”.

The app urges users to try another payment method, but it currently does not support any other method for purchases in the country, according to users, tests, and the company’s own support page.

The move follows a strange statement from the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), the governing body that oversees UPI in the country, which said hours after Coinbase’s India launch that it was not aware of any crypto exchange using UPI payments instrument.

Coinbase began testing UPI payments in India several weeks ago.

In a statement, later that day Coinbase said it was committed to working with NPCI and other relevant authorities and said it was experimenting with other payment methods.

Hardik Pandya roasted on social media for screaming at senior pro Shami

0

Gujarat Titans (GT) skipper Hardik Pandya’s outburst at team-mate and senior India bowler Mohammed Shami, after the latter did not go all out to take a catch in Monday night’s game against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH), has not gone down well with the all-rounder’s fans.

At the DY Patil Stadium on Monday, a measured half-century from captain Kane Williamson, after their bowlers had applied the brakes in the last five overs, sealed SRH’s eight-wicket win over Gujarat Titans.

After the bowlers had conceded 44 runs and taken three wickets in the last five overs to restrict Gujarat to 162/7, Williamson led the chase with patience and precision while making 57 off 46 balls, laced with two fours and four sixes. He found support from Abhishek Sharma (42) and Nicholas Pooran doing the finishing job with an unbeaten 34.

It was in the 13th over being bowled by Pandya that the Titans skipper shouted at Shami after the latter apparently did not go all out to take a catch offered by Rahul Tripathi. Before that, SRH skipper Kane Williamson had hit Pandya for back-to-back maximums off the second and third ball of the over.

The Titans had an opportunity to dismiss the New Zealander’s partner Tripathi off the last ball of the over when the 31-year-old batter’s uppercut went horribly wrong and flew towards the deep third man.

Shami, posted in the deep, could have latched on to the catch had he moved forward. Instead, the veteran India pacer moved back a couple of steps and collected the ball on the first bounce. Already clobbered for two sixes by Williamson in the over, Pandya vents his anger at Shami.

A fan called Pandya a terrible skipper, tweeting, “Dear Hardik, you are a terrible captain. Stop taking it out on your teammates, particularly someone as senior as Shami,” while another fan wrote “@hardikpandya7 shouting at the #mohammedshami is disgraceful what Shami has done for #Indianteam is commendable and #Hardik has not even done half of it. #shameful #HardikPandya.”

Another fan wrote, “Hardik Pandya doesn’t deserve to be the Captain of any team one who doesn’t know how to speak to the team members and that too a senior player shouldn’t be the Captain you do not win all games Cricket is a gentleman game pls note @hardikpandya7.”

Bangladesh pacer Khaled fined 15 per cent of match fee for breaching ICC Code of Conduct

0

Bangladesh pace bowler Khaled Ahmed has been fined 15 percent of his match fee after he breached the ICC Code of Conduct during the second Test against South Africa in Port Elizabeth.

On Monday, South Africa made a clean sweep of the two-Test series against Bangladesh, inflicting a crushing 332-run defeat on the visitors with left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj grabbing his second seven-wicket haul of the series at St George’s Park. Maharaj’s 7/40 was supported by off-spinner Simon Harmer taking 3/34.

Bangladesh’s resistance lasted just around an hour on day four as Maharaj and Harmer ran through the batting line-up, bowling out the visitors for just 80 in 23.3 overs.

Ahmed was found guilty of breaching Article 2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “throwing a ball at or near a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee or any other third person in an inappropriate and/or dangerous manner during an international match.”

The Level 1 breach meant Ahmed will also have one demerit point added to his disciplinary record – it’s his first offense in a 24-month period.

“The incident occurred in the 95th over of South Africa’s first innings on the second day when Kyle Verreynne hit the ball back towards Ahmed,” the ICC statement read.

“The bowler then threw it towards Verreynne in an inappropriate and dangerous manner, hitting him on the right glove.”

On-field umpires Marais Erasmus and Allahudien Paleker, third umpire Adrian Holdstock and fourth official Bongani Jele leveled the charges. Ahmed admitted to the offense and accepted the sanction proposed by Andy Pycroft.
