Making the declaration, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said studies have revealed that the method helps decrease pollution levels.

The government also announced a seven-point agenda as a preventive measure to attempt air pollution levels which are at maximum in November.

“4-15 November odd-even to be applied. The studies around this have shown that pollution levels fall. Odd and even is an emergency measure. Cannot be implemented for too long. Details will be clarified in the next few days,” Kejriwal said while addressing the media.

Kejriwal said that the Delhi government will carry on to work with the neighboring states of Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh to find another plan to crop burning.

Odd-Even to be back in Delhi from November

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led Delhi government has so far implemented the method on two occasions.

The government will publicize the details of the format in the next few days. Some of the officials in the government said closer to the day, the scheme will be approved based on the pollution levels of the national capital.

Last week, the government had invited suggestions from the populace to manage the increasing levels of pollution in Delhi. The government had claimed that pollution levels have seen a reject by 25%. The government acknowledged over 1200 suggestions.

In the seven-point schedule, the government will secure masks on a large scale and dispense them for free. The government will also start a Delhi tree confront to raise the tree cover. It will also arrange volunteers to manage the burning of wood in the winter.

“As per the Supreme Court’s direction, we want the residents of Delhi to not burn crackers. Delhi government will organize a Lazer show on Choti Diwali so that the city can together celebrate the festival,” Kejriwal briefed.

While the odd-even scheme and the Diwali limitations will end, the remaining five-scheduled points will form the winter feat plan of the government.

Chidambaram to Stay in Tihar Jail as Delhi Court Dismisses His Plea

The Delhi court on Friday dismissed the petition by former finance minister P Chidambaram, wedged in Tihar jail in the INX Media corruption case, looking to give up in the money laundering case.

Special judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar junked his petition. The Enforcement Directorate on Thursday told the court that Chidambaram’s arrest was essential in the INX Media money laundering case and it will do so at a suitable time.

Chidambaram’s advocate had contended that the ED’s compliance is mala fide and anticipated to make him suffer. Chidambaram, 73, is already in court custody in the INX Media fraud case being probed by the CBI.

Chidambaram to Stay in Tihar Jail as Delhi Court Dismisses His Plea

ED had told the court that since Chidambaram was already in the legal custody in the CBI case, he was not in a situation to interfere with the proof. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for Chidambaram, had said that ED had come to the Congress leader’s house to arrest him on August 20 and 21 but now they do not want to do so just to ensure that he remains in court supervision.

Mehta had argued that firm aspects were necessary to be probed before his custodial examination. The organization requires to interrogate 6 persons before his custodial examination and it was investigating money laundering which reaches beyond this country, he had said.

He had contended that the accused cannot lead the investigation and the order to take him in custody right now will curtail the prudence of probe organization. earlier on August 21, the ‘reasons to believe’ that he was necessary to be in prison existed and it exists even today, Mehta had said, adding that after arresting Chidambaram they would like to tackle him with the proof which has been gathered.

On the 5th of September, Chidambaram was remanded to 14-day judicial custody in the corruption case by the CBI till September 19.

Govt slashes 312 Indian-origin Sikhs from adverse list

A ostracize of Sikh overseas nationals who have been banned from traveling to India for a decade has been condensed from 314 to just 2, a senior home ministry official said on Friday.

The 312 nationals detached from the blacklist, officially called the Central Adverse List, will be “qualified to get Indian visa and the Overseas Indian Card” in due course, the official stated.

The decision to carve down the list was taken after a “review” of pressure posed by these people to India.

Govt slashes 312 Indian-origin Sikhs from adverse list

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was first to have granted to review the list at a meeting with UK-based Sikhs during a visit to the UK in 2015 and National Security consultant Ajit Doval to lead the exercise within the security enterprise.

Over the next four years, officials said the list had been increasingly trimmed but there had been calls to do away with the list that, Sikh groups say, had come to represent “the relationship between Sikh living overseas and Indians the 1984 Operation Bluestar”.

These ostracized Sikhs have been mostly living in the US and Canada in North America; and the UK, France, and Germany. It has included Sikh society leaders who promoted the cause of Khalistan, former militants, those associated with the philosophy without an illegal record, and those who sought political refuge challenging the threat to their lives from the Indian officials.

“This review is an incessant and active process and is a part of a standard exercise. Such a review will afford an occasion to such Sikh overseas nationals to visit India, meet their family members and reconnect to their roots, ” the official stated.
During the 1980s – when the militant association for a divided Sikh native soil was at its peak – many Sikh Indian nationals and overseas nationals belonging to Sikh society fell to anti-India misinformation.

Some of them even fled India to get away from Indian authorities, became overseas nationals and took refuge outside India. They were placed in the adverse list till 2016, making them disqualified to gain visa services to visit India, ” the official mentioned.

These people will also be qualified to apply for registration as Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholder after they have held normal visas for at least two years.
