MLA Teaser Review

Nandamuri Kalyan Ram who took a break after Ism ventured into production once again with Jr NTR starrer ‘Jai Lava Kusa’. The Nandamuri hero is once again back on the silver screen, with two movies heading for release in 2018. The teaser of ‘Naa Nuvve’ impressed everyone. He is once again back with a bang with the teaser of MLA.

The teaser opens with Prithvi’s voice welcoming Kalyan Ram, sporting a politician look. ‘Thippandi Sir Meesam… Thagginchaam Kadaa Raju Garu…. Pettandi Sir Addaalu… Adhi’ clearly hints us about Kalyan Ram’s character in the movie. The high voltage BGM from Mani Sharma is terrific and stupendous. It reminds the ‘old’ Mani Sharma who is known for his epic BGMs. The teaser promises a high-octane action film, with a political background. Kajal Agarwal will be playing the female lead role.

The cinematography breathes life into the teaser. The visuals are crisp, well lit and colourful. Ravi Kishan will be playing the role of antagonist in the film. The film is slated to release in March 2018. ‘Manchi Lakshnaalunna Abbayi’ (A lad with good qualities) is the tagline of the film. Krishnarjuna Yuddham First Look

Krishnarjuna Yuddham First Look

‘Natural Star’ Nani is having a great run at the box-office since last 2 years. The hero had eight back-to-back hits to his name. It is a record he can be proud of. His recent film ‘MCA – Middle Class Abbayi’, went on to become a super hit at the box office. Surprisingly, the hero was cautioned by his fans, about his choice of scripts. Nani posted a selfie video (yesterday) on Twitter, in which he stated, he is coming with three surprises for the next three festive days. As promised, the hero came up with his first surprise!

Nani’s look from Krishnarjuna Yuddham (KAY) is nothing short of ‘oora mass’ feeling. Probably, Nani is the only star hero, who did not make up for the ‘mass’ image. The production house, Shine Pictures released the first look of ‘Krishna’ played by Nani in the movie. Krishna and Arjuna are both played Nani in the movie. Nani is seen as a typical village-style youth. You can sense the feeling of ‘mass’ thorough his looks, dressing and attitude. His next look as ‘Arjuna’ will be released tomorrow. The film is bankrolled by Sahu Garapati and Harish Peddi. Merlapaka Gandhi is directing the film.

Rangula Ratnam Movie Review

Posted [relativedate] at [relativetime time_format=”H:i”]
Cast: Raj Tarun, Chitra Shukla, Sitara, Priyadarshi
Director: Shree Ranjani
Producer: Akkineni Nagarjuna
Music: Sricharan Pakala
Editor: Sreekar Prasad
Production House: Annapoorna Studios

Every Sankranti paves way for high-budget films in Tollywood. 2017 Sankranti saw Khaidi No.150 and Gautamiputra Satakarni. Both the film fared well at the box office. In between these films, Sharwanand’s ‘Shatamanam Bhavathi’ was released and emerged as a super hit film. Hoping for the same magic, Raj Tarun came up with ‘Rangula Ratnam’ amid PK’s Agnyaathavaasi and NBK’s Jai Simha, which ended toppled at the box office. Let us see whether Raj Tarun made his presence felt!

Story:

The story is quite simple. It stars with Vishnu (Raj Tarun) and his mom (Sitara). Later, the lead pair; Vishnu and Keerthi (Chitra Shukla) work at ‘Emotions’, a greeting cards company. They both bump into each other in a wedding. Vishnu and his mom show extreme fondness towards each other. Keerthi takes a while before she accepts Vishnu’s proposal. Later, Keerthi calls for a break-up for unknown reasons. She becomes very possessive of Vishnu. The perspectives given by Vishnu and Keerthi are pretty realistic and justified. The film finally ends with a decent comedy.

Analysis:

It feels as if the director lost his plot in the first half. Though the core point; ‘everyone has a perspective’, is justified towards the ending, the heavy dose of sentiment and slow-paced narration throws a challenge to the audience. Despite being promoted as refreshing romantic drama, the film falls flat in the first half.
The director could have focused more on Vishnu – Keerthi episode than Vishnu and his mother right from the first half. The Mother-son episodes seem overboard for the young audience, and the comedy scenes fail to bring any laughs. Priyadarshi’s comedy worked well on the screen. The lead pair has done reasonable justice to their roles, and Sitara (as Raj Tarun’s mom) is her usual self. Chitra Shukla shines well on the screen. Raj Tarun’s comedy and the timing could have been much better.

The possessiveness shown by Keerthi, after calling-off the relation, will surely impress the audience. The dialogues between the lead pair, justifying their perspectives is worth watching. Sricharan Pakala’s music doesn’t make any impact, except for two songs. Priyadarshi gets a meaty role, and he is the only saviour. Characterisation of the lead pair could have been much better. Production values are poor. This film marks hat-trick flops for 2018 Sankranti.

Highlights:
Priyadarshi comedy
Core Concept
Comedy in patches and bits

Drawbacks:
Direction and script
Characterization of lead pair
Heavy dose sentiment in 1st half

Will Padmavat release at least on Jan 25th?

Will Padmavat release on Jan 25th?

Everyone our us boast about the harmony inour nation, which has diverse cultures and communities. But this is only limited to textbooks and parliamentary speeches. In reality, things are far from the truth.

Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Padmavat’ (previously Padmavathi) has been already banned in Rajasthan and Gujarat. With the release date of the film locking in, the Karni Sena from Rajasthan is once again preparing itself to stall the film’s release. The organization leaders have called for nationwide protests on 17th of January.

On the other hand, director Sanjay Leela Bhansali is caught between ‘well and wall’ position. The censor board reportedly asked the director to trim few parts of the ‘Ghoomar Song’. The song has received over 90+ million views on YouTube. The Karni Sena has raised objections even to that song, claiming, the director humiliated Rani Padmini by portraying her dancing in the song.

If Bhansali goes ahead with Censor Board’s view, he needs to trim the song. This can take away the song’s essence. Hence, the director opted to ‘cover’ the navel of Deepika Padukone, featured in the song using CG. This can lead to a delay in movie’s release. Only time can tell whether Bhansali can release movie ever in his life.

We are living in a country where even filmmaking should be on ‘prescribed lines’. Such is the pathetic situation of our society, in our country, and among ourselves.

Telugu film audience only knows to devote themselves to their favorite heroes, and treat them as demi-gods. But the heroes on the contrary, hardly interact with their fans, except during audio functions and film promotion events. Even there, they come solely to promote their film and request the audience to make the film a big success.

But ‘Natural Star’ Nani, who is on a high with 8 back-to-back hits, always has something special for his fans. Be it his interaction with his fans on social media, or interacting with his fans at various special events in length, he is known for his humbleness and down-to-earth nature. The star hero has once again come forward with a surprise. Not one, not two, but three surprises, in the 3-upcoming festive days. In a selfie video, Nani said:

I really thank all the audience for making MCA such a bit hit. The three surprises would be about my upcoming film, Krishnarjuna Yuddham. On 14th of Jan (Bhogi), I would release the first look of ‘Krishna’ character. On 15th of Jan (Sankranti), I would come up with the first look of ‘Arjuna’. And finally, on 16th of Jan (Kanuma), you will get to see the lyrical video of the first from the film.’The 1:23 min selfie video went viral on Twitter, with more than 28,600 watching it in less than 8 hours. Nani’s Krishnarjuna Yuddham is slated to release in May 2018.

Balakrishna Ultimate Comedy  Nandamuri Hero Thanks To The Audience

Even before the advent of Twitter, Nandamuri Balakrishna was often trolled on Facebook, Orkut, and YouTube for his larger-than-life stunts. He was often credited with the Academy (Oscar) Award for the ‘Best Comedian’ for his hilarious stunts and dialogues. In an interview, Balakrishna self-criticized himself for accepting such kind of stunts and took it in a lighter tone. Even though his heroic acts have reduced to a good bit, his comments are reminding everyone of his past.

Speaking in an interview, the Nandamuri hero thanked his fans for making ‘Jai Simha’ movie a big hit, that released for the Sankranti. In a typical cinematic fashion and dialogue diction, Balakrishna said, ‘Mana Dhanulu mana Telugu vallu…. Abhimaana dhanulu naa Abhimanyu’.

While this has been received well by the Nandamuri fans, netizens started trolling the comments. ‘How could one claim Jai Simha to be hit, where the lion (Simha) failed to even meow like a domestic cat,’ said a Twitterati.

Another netizen went ahead, and said, ‘thank god! Balayya did not say Jai Simha is an Industry hit’. It is true that the interview was meant for promoting the film. But it made Balayya look like a butt of jokes.Jai Simha received mixed reviews, with moviegoers calling it a below-average film.

Twist in the Tail: NBK overtakes PK!

After staggering premier collections, Agnyaathavaasi fell flat and headed deep into pothole thanks to its lame comedy and poor screenplay. The Pawan Kalyan starrer collected $1.51M even before its release, only second to Baahubali – The Conclusion. The film’s collections fell to mere $44,600 on its third day. Even Nandamuri Balakrishna’s ‘Jai Simha’ did not have a great run at the US box-office.

But what about these film’s performance in the Telugu states? This is where NBK overtook PK by a good margin. Though Jai Simha did not receive great reviews, the film managed to hold, thanks to its mediocre family melodrama. Unlike Agnyaathavaasi which had sky-high expectations, Balayya’s film released amid decent expectations.

According to reports, Balakrishna’s ‘Jai Simha’ collected 30% of its investment on its first day. With promotion and production costs, overall budget of the film touched the Rs. 30-crore mark. The film reportedly collected Rs. 6.84 crores as distributor share on its first day. The producer is expected to be safe, as digital and satellite rights fetched him over Rs. 7 crores. Another reason for low-openings is the disaster of Paisa Vasool from Balakrishna.

Given the budget limitation and collections, it is clear that Nandamuri Balakrishna has overtaken Pawan Kalyan this time around at the Tollywood box-office. But unfortunately, the greatest loser, in this case, happens to be the Telugu film audience.

Right from the very moment the first look from ‘Gayathri’ released, it has surprised everyone in the film industry. The ferociousness in his eyes, the fearlessness in his looks sent shivers down the spine. This look alone revealed the theme and his character’s impact on the movie.

With the teaser, Mohanbabu once again made a deep impact in the audience mind. His dialogue diction and facial expression blistered the rest of the elements in each frame. It looks like the director has made the best use of his strong ability of dialogue delivery to peaks, in this movie. Though he is seen portraying a diabolic role with ruthlessness at his disposal, and power in his control, his character representation speaks volumes.

‘Puraanallo vallu chesindi thappaithe, Ikkada nenu chesindi kuda thappe. Akkada vallu devullaithe, Ikkada nenuu devudne. Ardham chesukuntaro, apaardham chesukuntaro, a choice is yours’!

This dialogue is alone enough to speak volumes about the upcoming film. The BGM from Thaman is absolutely terrific and adds more muscle to Mohababu’s dialogue, and fear into the audience.
