Bhuvi Carrying An Injury Since 2018 After Being Not Treated Properly

0

Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s recent absence from the national team has been nothing less than a puzzle. The fast-bowler did not show any kind of discomfort while bowling in the World Cup or the tour of West Indies. However, he did not make it to the T20I squads for the series against South Africa and the upcoming one against Bangladesh.

What made things even more confusing was that the selectors decided against explaining the pacer’s absence. Well, there is much more to the case than what is meeting the eye at the moment. As per a report in The Times of India, he is presently undergoing strength and conditioning programs at NCA to recover.

The report claimed that Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been carrying the issue since July 2018 but wasn’t treated properly.

“They must come up with a clear explanation of why it is taking Bhuvi so long to get back. The board announced that Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya needed to travel to England. Bumrah didn’t even need surgery,” an official said.

“He was not treated properly. His injury was allowed to aggravate because the team wanted to take him to the World Cup,” a source said.

NCA has been under scanner in recent times for the way it has dealt with the injured players. Last year, it had made a mess of Wriddhiman Saha’s injury and the player had to remain on the sidelines for nearly a year. There is no clarity over Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s injury and one can only hope that the pacer returns at the earliest. It would be interesting to see whether the board comes up with an official statement on his fitness. He hasn’t played any competitive match since the third ODI against West in August.

Mominul Haque appointed Bangladesh Test captain

0

Mominul Haque will lead the Bangladesh Test side while Mahmudullah will captain the IT20 side for the series against India, BCB announced on Tuesday (October 29). The change in leadership was made after Shakib al Hasan was halted for two years by the ICC for failing to inform the corrupt approaches from a bookie.

The BCB also confirmed additional changes to T20I squad. Abu Hider Rony will make a return in place of injured Saifuddin while Mithun will replace Tamim Iqbal. Saifuddin sustained a recurring back injury.

Taijul Islam has been selected as a replacement for Shakib in the T20I team.

In the Test squad, Saif Hasan, 20-year-old, has earned his maiden call-up. The right-hand batsman has played 36 first-class matches and has made 2217 runs at an average of 46.18. Al Amin Hossain, who last represented a Test for Bangladesh in 2014, earns a spot in the squad. Ebadot Hossain was also included in the squad who was dumped after the series in New Zealand and Mustafizur Rahman, who returns in place of Taskin Ahmed.

Liton Das will be the first-choice wicketkeeper in the Test squad with Mushfiqur Rahim choosing to give up the role and to focus more on his batting.

Bigg Boss house became colorful with the entry of anchor Suma. Today’s episode started with the dogs barking as Suma tried to sleep in the Bigg Boss house. As Varun Sandesh won yesterday’s lip-reading challenge task, Big Boss allowed him to talk to his fans. A fan-made Ravi called Varun Sandesh and asked why his energy levels dropped after the elimination of Vithika.

To which, the ‘Happy Days’ actor said that he became even more close to Vithika in that 90 days spent together, which is why the sudden exit of her made him a little bit dull. Later, Bigg Boss made the other housemates read tweets about them. Every contestant got both the messages from both fans as well as anti-fans, and they took all the comments positively. Later, Bigg Boss asked all the contestants, including Suma, to come into the garden area and celebrate Diwali with crackers.

As Big Boss played several energetic songs, all the contestants, including Suma, happily danced and fired some crackers. Especially, Rahul and Sreemukhi danced together, which grabbed the attention. Bigg Boss asked Suma to leave the house, but the housemates dragged her inside and asked her to stay. Later, Tarot Card Reader entered the Bigg Boss house.

Each and every contestant showed interest in knowing about the future not only in Bigg Boss but also in their lives. Later, in the night, Rahul Sipligunj is seen singing a high pitched Hindi song. But Bigg Boss warned him to talk in Telugu. Then he has sung a song claiming that his stomach is aching and needs a tablet immediately. The housemates laughed for his lyrics.

Samsung seems to be silently rolling out a new update for Galaxy S10 owners in Germany and Switzerland. While the company is yet to confirm the new feature, but the new OTA (over the air) update brings in the ability to take slow-motion videos from the front camera. If you remember, Apple had made a big deal about front camera slow-mo videos or slofies when it launched the iPhone 11 series back in September.

According to a report, the new camera feature was expected to arrive with the next major One UI 2.0 update based on Android 10, however, it seems that Samsung doesn’t want to lag behind. Besides that, the update also includes the October security patch and adds Auto Hotspot which allows users to quickly share your mobile data with nearby devices logged with the same Samsung account. The update also brings Media and Device buttons to the notification shade so one can easily control devices like TVs, Bluetooth headphones, speakers, etc. Apart from that users can also expect improved fingerprint recognition.

The new update is currently only rolling in the above-mentioned countries, but a global rollout is expected to happen soon. Samsung is also beta testing Android 10 based One UI 2.0 for the Galaxy S10 series, which is expected to see a global rollout early next year.

Sourav Ganguly takes a “Decision” on First-Class Cricket in India

0

After vowing that first-class cricket will be his biggest focus, the newly-elected BCCI president – Sourav Ganguly – suggested that a ‘contract system’ will be formulated for India’s first-class cricketers.

“We will implement a contract system for our first-class cricketers,” Ganguly stated. “We will ask the new finance committee to develop a contract system plan for the First-class cricket.”

With as many as 38 teams competing in the Ranji Trophy, the execution of this plan could be complex. The BCCI boss, however, is optimistic and stated that the work has begun.

“It has been four days taking charge and there was a Diwali break in between. It will take around two weeks to evaluate everything and move ahead. at present, the process is going on” the new BCCI president Ganguly stated.

Presently, BCCI pays 13% of its gross revenue to the Indian domestic players; with each player earning around Rs 25 to 30 lakh depending on the matches played. The match fee for an FC game is Rs 35,000 per day. If the contract system comes into effect, it could be a big boon to Indian domestic cricket.

Google looking to buy Fitbit in a bid to enter wearable market

0

Google owner Alphabet has made an offer to buy Fitbit, Reuters reports. It looks like Google is eyeing the wearable market and a Fitbit acquisition would allow the company to take on Apple, Samsung and other players in a brand new sector. Google already makes its own smartphones, but the company is yet to offer a Google-branded smartwatch.

According to the report by Reuters, there is no certainty that the talks between Google and Fitbit will lead to any deal. There is also no word on how much Google has offered to buy to Fitbit. Both companies declined to comment on the report.

Google’s presence in the wearable market is on a software level as it offers its Wear OS operating system to companies like LG, Fossil and other brands. Apple, however, remains the segment leader with Apple Watches grabbing nearly half the market. Xiaomi and Huawei are also strong in this sector, especially in China.

Google has been expanding its hardware portfolio off late. In addition to the Pixel phones, the company also offers Pixel Buds, Pixelbook, Google Home, among others. If the reported deal with Fitbit goes through, we may see the launch of a Google-branded smartwatch in the near future as the company looks to expand its ecosystem much like Apple.

Fitbit would also benefit from this deal with Google as the US-based wearable device maker has been struggling to gain a significant market share with Chinese competition like Xiaomi and Huawei offering affordable fitness trackers.

Shakib Al Hasan likely to miss India tour

0

Bangladesh could likely miss the services of skipper Shakib Al Hasan for the upcoming T20I and Test tour of India, scheduled to start on November 3 with the first T20I in Delhi. After leading the players’ strike last week, the ace all-rounder has attended only one net session during the four-day preparation camp that included two warm-up T20 matches.

Shakib’s unavailability would prompt BCB to announce a fresh T20I squad on Tuesday (October 29), a day before traveling to India. The all-rounder is the current captain of both the Test and T20I set-ups. ”We will announce the T20 team tomorrow [October 29] at noon. We require some more time to state our Test team.” Akram Khan, said.

The selectors were also seen in lengthy discussions with the national head coach Russell Domingo during their final practice game at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium. Incidentally, board president Nazmul Hasan called some senior members of the set-up to discuss strategies ahead of the challenging tour to India, but Shakib wasn’t part of the meeting.

In addition to it, the board has also observed Shakib’s recent sponsorship deal with a telecom company is “unlawful” as it violates the terms and conditions of his contract. Subsequently, BCB issued a show-cause notice to the national captain.

Last week, Bangladesh’s players had assembled for a press gathering in Dhaka and declared that they will not take part in any cricketing activities unless their 11-point demand made to the board was met. Eventually, on Wednesday (October 23), the feud between BCB and the cricketers was resolved after the board agreed to most of the demands put forward by the cricketers.

Bangladesh Cricket Chief Alleges “Conspiracy To Sabotage India Tour”

0

Bangladesh cricket’s turmoil just doesn’t seem to end. Ever since Test and T20I captain Shakib Al Hasan announced that the team is going on strike last on October 21, things have become worse for the Bangladesh players and the national cricket board. The players called off the strike late on Wednesday, but that was not the end of their troubles.

There was the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hassan’s outburst at Mehidy Hasan during a team meeting, before a top official said the BCB would sue Shakib. And then, senior batsman Tamim Iqbal pulled out of the team’s tour of India.

In the latest development in the saga, Nazmul Hassan has said that there is a conspiracy to sabotage the four-week-long tour of India.

“You people (media) haven’t yet seen anything about the India tour. Just wait and watch. If I am saying that I had specific information that this was a conspiracy to sabotage India tour, then you should believe me,” he was quoted as saying to Bangladesh daily “Prothom Aalo” by news agency PTI.

It was Tamim Iqbal’s decision to pull out of the India tour that tipped him off to the alleged conspiracy, he said.

“Tamim had initially told me that he will only skip the second Test (in Kolkata from November 22-26) for the birth of his second child. However, after the meeting with players, Tamim comes to my room and says he wants to opt-out of the whole tour. I asked him ‘why so?’ But he simply said he won’t go,” Hassan explained.

“Now after this, I won’t be surprised if I find that someone else pulls out at the eleventh hour when we would be left with no other options. I have called Shakib to have a chat. Now if he also pulls out, where do I even find a captain? I might have to change the whole combination. What do I even do with these players,” he said.

“I still can’t believe it. I speak to them every day. They didn’t even intimate me before calling a strike. I feel that it was a mistake on my part to have agreed to their demands. I should have never done that,” Hassan lamented.

“I should have told the players, ‘Unless you call off strike, we will not sit with you guys across the negotiation table.’ Speaking to various member boards, I felt that this should have been our approach but the media also created pressure on us,” the BCB President added.

Bangladesh are scheduled to play three T20Is and two Tests against India, with the first T20I scheduled to be played on November 3 in Delhi.

Mi Note 10, Note 10 Pro may launch soon, phones get certified in Thailand and Russia

0

Xiaomi could be bringing back the Mi Note series from the dead. After the Mi Note 3 in 2017, Xiaomi is said to launch the Mi Note 10 and Mi Note 10 Pro this year. It has been reported a few times in recent past that the company is looking to launch the Mi Note 10 series soon despite company CEO Lei Jun claiming there were no plans for the Mi Note in 2019. Now, the Mi Note 10 and Note 10 Pro have been certified in Thailand and Russia, suggesting imminent launch.

The Mi Note 10 and Mi Note 10 Pro received certifications by the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) in Thailand and the EEC in Russia, according to a tweet by tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore. This suggests the phones will launch soon in South Asian and European markets. The Mi Note 10 has been listed with model number M1910F4G, while the Mi Note 10 Pro carries the model number M1910F4S.

Xiaomi has so far been quiet about the Mi Note 10 series. The company has not teased its arrival yet, so it doesn’t look like the phones will launch in October despite a tip by Ice Universe. Last week, a leaked image of the Mi Note 10’s retail box seemingly confirmed the existence of the phone.

It is unclear whether the Mi Note 10 and Mi Note 10 Pro are mid-range or flagship devices. According to some rumours, the Mi Note 10 phones will come with the Snapdragon 855+ chipset and a 120Hz display, but one should consider these leaks with a pinch of salt. To recall, the Mi Note 3 that was launched in 2017 offered a mid-range Snapdragon 660 SoC. As a Note device, the Mi Note 10 and Note 10 Pro are expected to be big phones with large displays. We should know more about the Mi Note 10 series in the days to come.

Mitchell Starc to miss second T20I against Sri Lanka

0

Australia will head into the second fixture of the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka on Wednesday (October 30) without Mitchell Starc, who will be away to attend his brother’s wedding. In Starc’s absence, Billy Stanlake and Sean Abbott will be in a two-way tussle for the vacant spot in the second game at the Gabba.

Both Abbott and Stanlake come into the series with identical outings in the Marsh One-Day cup, picking five wickets each in as many fixtures for New South Wales and Queensland, with the former finishing with a better average and economy rate.

Stanlake, however, has been part of the Australia squad more recently and has made a comeback from injury that saw him miss a T20 Blast stint with Derbyshire in July-August this year. Abbott, who has played one ODI and one T20I for Australia back in 2014, wasn’t picked initially but came in as a replacement for the injured Andrew Tye.

Having started off their home summer in emphatic style with a 134-run win in the first T20I, Australia will head into the second fixture with the opportunity to pocket the series even before it gets to the last fixture.

Virat Kohli Keen On Playing Day-Night Tests, Says Sourav Ganguly

0

The first-ever day-night Test match was played between Australia and New Zealand at the Adelaide Oval in November 2015. Four years later, the number one Test team in the world, India, is yet to play a five-day game under lights. However, newly-elected BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has said that skipper Virat Kohli is keen on playing pink-ball Tests.

“I must say that Virat Kohli is agreeable to it. There are reports that he does not want to play day-night Tests which is not the fact. So once the captain of India is agreeable to it, life becomes a lot easier. We will see how we can push it. The game needs to go forward,” Ganguly said on Friday.

“We all are thinking about this and we will do something about it. I am a firm believer in Day-Night Tests. I don’t know when will that happen. But till the time I am around, I will be pushing for it,” Ganguly added.

Cricket Australia wanted the Adelaide Test to become a permanent day-night fixture and hoped for India to agree but the visitors did not endorse the idea during their most successful tour Down Under.

Australia’s cricket chief Kevin Roberts had said that he hoped to convince India of the merits of a day-night Adelaide Test on their next tour in 2020/21.

Under current International Cricket Council (ICC) rules, the touring team can deny the home board’s fixture requests but that may change shortly.

India, who sits at the top of the ICC World Test Championship table with 240 points from 5 wins, are scheduled to play two five-day games against Bangladesh next month.

“People Don’t See What Happens Inside”: Sourav Ganguly

0

Sourav Ganguly, the newly-elected BCCI president, opened up about his rapport with captain Virat Kohli saying that the things between them should run smooth for the betterment of Indian cricket. “It has to be a very good one. many of them don’t see what happens inside,” Ganguly stated on Friday.

On Wednesday, the previous India captain was commonly elected as the board administrator in Mumbai. Furthermore, Ganguly became the first cricketer in 65 years to take command as a full-time BCCI president. Ganguly had said that Kohli is the “most prominent individual in Indian cricket”.

“Kohli is the most prominent person in Indian cricket, we will hear to him. Mutual admiration will be there, views will be shared,” Ganguly stated after taking charge as the BCCI president.

“We will assist him in every conceivable way, whatever he requires.”

On Thursday, on the sidelines of the selection panel, the BCCI president and secretary Jay Shah met skipper Kohli and his deputy Rohit Sharma to address the way ahead for Indian cricket.

The BCCI posted an image of the gathering with a caption, “All smirks at the Senior Selection panel gathering earlier this afternoon as the teams for the forthcoming T20I & Test series against Bangladesh were announced #TeamIndia.”

Earlier in the day, India’s T20I and Test squads for the upcoming home series against Bangladesh were announced.

Regular skipper Kohli has been rested for the T20Is and in his absence, Rohit Sharma will lead the team in the 3-match series.

Kohli will return to lead as India and Bangladesh will then play two Tests as part of the World Championship.

Kane Williamson Ruled Out Of England T20Is With Hip Injury

0

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson will miss the upcoming Twenty20 series against England after a recurring hip injury flared up, team officials said on Friday. Paceman Tim Southee will lead the team in Williamson’s absence, with the batsman hoping to return for a two-Test series against the tourists in late November.

Coach Gary Stead said it was the same injury that affected Williamson during the Test series against Bangladesh in March. “It’s unexpected timing for Kane at the inauguration of an exciting Kiwi summer, but we think it’s the right decision with a busy season ahead,” Stead said.

We’re fortunate to have someone experienced like Tim who can comfortably step in and take the reins.”

Stead said fast bowler Lockie Ferguson would play the first three fixtures of the five-match series then be replaced by Trent Boult.

The series begins on Friday, November 1, in Christchurch.

It will be the first meeting between the two sides since the dramatic World Cup final at Lord’s in July, which ended with scores tied after a Super Over but England won by hitting more boundaries.

We had a chat with MS Dhoni and he also supports our way of backing youngsters.”

India Squad For Bangladesh Series To Be Announced On October 24

0

Virat Kohli’s workload could be a point of debate while Rishabh Pant could have productive Sanju Samson for cover during three T20Is when the selection panel selects the team for the upcoming series facing Bangladesh in Mumbai on Thursday. the selection panel will leave on Kohli to choose whether he requires a rest or continue playing. There is supposed to be serious conversations about Mumbai all-rounder Shivam Dubey, who might replace an injured Hardik Pandya for the all-rounder’s slot, essentially based on his big-hitting bravery.

Samson, who recently hit a double hundred for Kerala in the One-Day Competition, is supposed to come in but only as a secondary option to Pant for the time being.

“both Rishab and Samson may appear in the squad.there is no harm in keeping both of them in the squad. They have played together in IPL also. Rishabh has had short success in shorter formats but he is a long-term investment and we need to continue with him,” a BCCI official privy to advancements in the selection panel, told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

“At the same time, Sanju is a champ with game-changing capabilities. Keeping World T20 in mind, the team management needs to examine other choices also as everyone knows that it’s time to look beyond MS Dhoni,” the source added.

With Kohli not there in the squad, Samson is being seen as a back-up batsman but it will be interesting to see if Manish Pandey holds his place in the team that represented against South Africa.

All-rounder Dubey has now pipped Vijay Shankar as the second choice in the White ball format, based on big-hitting strength.

“Cricket analysts acknowledge that Shivam’s bowling is still not international pace and nowhere near the kind of pace and quality Hardik holds.

Even Kohli has recognized him a bit in IPL while performing for RCB,” the source further added.

It is unlikely that spin twins of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal will get a look in as Rahul Chahar and Washington Sundar are set to get another shot.

KL Rahul, after his good show in the one-day tournament, is expected to hold his place in the side. dashing opener Shikhar Dhawan has been out of form for a while but the panel might stay with him for one more series.

In case there is a proposal of omitting Dhawan, Mayank Agarwal could be a decision as the alternate opener. Deepak Chahar, Navdeep Saini, and Khaleel Ahmed are anticipated to be the three leading pacers.
