Physicist Stephen Hawking Passes away At 76

World-renowned professor, scientist, and best-selling author, Stephen Hawking breathed his last in the early hours of Wednesday. Hawking’s children Robert, Tim, and Lucy confirmed the death of Stephen Hawking and requested privacy.

‘It is a great loss to our family. We thank everyone who has been with him, supporting him all throughout his life. He is an extraordinary man and a great scientist. His legacy and contribution towards the scientific community will live for many years.

His brilliance and humour inspired millions across the world. We will miss him forever’, read a statement from the family.

Born as Stephen William Hawking in Oxford on January 8th,1942, he went on to become one of the most brilliant theoretical physicists since Albert Einstein. He graduated from theUniversity of Cambridge. Stephen Hawking suffered from motor neuron disease in 1963, which gradually confined him to the wheelchair.

With the aid of an advanced computing software and support from his assistants, Stephen Hawking has delivered many lectures in the past 4 decades. He was awarded CBE, Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire by the UK in 1982.
