Posani thrashes Nara Lokesh and ABN | Nandi Awards Controversy

Acclaimed writer-cum-actor Posani Krishna Murali reacted on the Nandi Awards Controversy. The row of the recently announced AP State Nandi Awards has been getting intense with each passing day. A couple of producers and directors expressed their anger over the Nandi Awards Jury. Few have even called the awards as ‘Kamma (Chowdary Community) Awards and Cycle Awards’. The Jury Member Madineni Ramesh even abused filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, after the latter questioned the prejudice in Nandi Awards in a sarcastic manner.
The recent buzz is that Posani Krishna Murali has reacted rather in a unique way on the same issue. Posani came out expressing himself in a press meet.
Following is the translation of (part of) the press meet:
[I was briefly going through Today’s Andhra Jyothi newspaper. I happened to come across the article “AP Sarkar serious on the Nandi Awards Row. Is it wrong to felicitate Telugu people by giving them Nandi Awards? Why are trying to tarnish the State Government’s image by dragging caste into the issue? The whole film industry is in Hyderabad and majority of the awards belonged to non-AP people only. If things go overboard, we don’t mind to cancel the awards itself”. The article was published as if the Government officials have informed the ABN Andhra Jyothi to publish the same.
Let us talk about Nara Lokesh’s comments. He says, ‘whoever is criticizing the government, they are all NRA – Non-Resident Andhra’s. People with no Voter Card and Aadhaar Card in AP will only comment on Nandi Awards. What is the reason behind people sitting in Hyderabad and making such controversial comments on Nandi Awards? Only three people are seen in this controversy.’
Before I speak further on this, I would like to really thank KCR, Chief Minister of Telangana, people of Telangana and all the political leaders in Telangana. I have realized how great, upright, kind, innocent, and wholehearted are the people of Telangana with Nara Lokesh’s statements.
By just making comments on Nandi Awards, do we become Non-Resident Andhra’s according to Nara Lokesh? Then what about the political leaders and others who have stayed in Telangana and used Telangana State Movement for political gain?
Even KCR stated that we have an issue with Andhra political leaders who looted Telangana, and not with the innocent people of Andhra. They are also our sons, daughters, brothers, and sisters.
If the people of Telangana had a similar mindset like Nara Lokesh, the Andhra people living in Telangana would have been running for life by now. We have become Telugu Rohingya’s (referring to Muslim Rohingya’s movement in Myanmar). I am sure that if a person like Nara Lokesh becomes the CM, it would be next to impossible for anyone to survive. Will they even let us live?
Lokesh Babu, are you even educated? Do you have sense, awareness, character? Don’t forget the fact that Hyderabad is a common capital from 2014 – 2024 for the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Why are you people having own houses, lands, and properties in Telangana? Are you not paying the taxes to the Telangana government? So, if you people are paying the taxes, what is the pain if we too pay?
You expect us not to criticize you staying in Hyderabad, but you people can play politics sitting in Vijayawada despite having shopping malls, bungalows, and other properties in Hyderabad.
While you condemn us by calling NRAs, then did the Government take NRA who don’t even have an Aadhaar Card and Voter Card in Andhra Pradesh as Jury members? Why did you provide them with a stay in a5-star hotel and paid their flight expenses?
Please … please! Do let me know. Please enlighten me!
And what did you people say finally? You are going to eliminate the Nandi Awards if the uproar against them further continue?
The Telugu people have been expressing their frustration for a very long time. Did you people ban or reject the leaders who have jumped into your party (TDP) after winning a seat as a YSRCP Contestant?
Why don’t you people think about the controversies that surrounded even national awards like Bharat Ratna and Padma Sri? Did the Central Government ever say they would eliminate these National Awards because the government has been receiving criticism? Then why you people? Why can’t you take criticism on Nandi Awards?
Don’t you think the Jury favored some while ignoring others? I demand all the Jury members take a lie-detector test on national television. If everyone comes as clean on their decision, I would fall on their feet and mercy.
Even I got Nandi Award. So? Everyone knows that I don’t do lobbying for awards, nor any sort of behind-the-curtain activities. I believe you all people know whether I lead a gentleman’s life or a scoundrel life.
I feel ashamed to be among the Nandi Awardees. People can ask me, ‘Posani, how did you get the Nandi Award? Did you lobby for the award? Or is it because you belonged to Kamma caste?’ I am liable to answer to everyone who asks me such questions.
Why can’t the state government answer the same? Did Chandrababu Naidu ever make a clear statement regarding the selection of Nandi Awardees? No.
But the same CM stated that ‘We have handed over the responsibility to the Jury. It is their choice to select the Nandi Awardees. Maybe we should have carried this procedure in a different manner.’]
After the interview from Posani Krishna Murali, the Nandi Awards Controversy might have a deep impact on the minds of the film audience and voters. Whatever claims he had made in his interview, are nothing but facts. This might be offensive, but he is true and clear. He doesn’t lie like the cheap politicians, nor carry behind-the-door lobbying like the political parties.
