When Raveena shared lunch with Big B, Govinda

Actress Raveena Tandon was nostalgic recalling her experience of working in the David Dhawan comedy, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, which clocked 22 years recently.

The 1998 film featured Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda in double roles. Raveena essayed Govinda’s love interest while Ramya Krishnan was paired opposite Big B.

“It’s such a special film. We had a blast during the shoot. I think it’s one of my most iconic characters of all times and fans loved watching me with Govinda and Amit ji on the big screen. It truly doesn’t feel like 22 years and am so glad to be a part of ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’,” Raveena said.

She also shared her favorite memory from the set.

“There are so many (memories), but I loved how we would all spend time being goofy. Govinda and Amit ji are such amazing co-stars. It was a lot of fun shooting the film. I miss how we would share food during lunch. These memories will always be close to my heart,” Raveena reminisced.

Raveena will soon be seen essaying the role of Romika Sen in “KGF: Chapter 2”, which is a follow-up of the Kannada blockbuster “KGF: Chapter 1”. She is currently shooting for her debut web series in Himachal Pradesh.

Mumbai cops probe rape allegation against Mithun’s son Mimoh

A woman has lodged a police complaint of rape against veteran Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty’s son and actor Mahaakshay alias Mimoh at the Oshiwara police station here, an official said on Saturday.

“We have lodged the complaint and are investigating the matter,” Senior Police Inspector Dayanand H Bangar told IANS but declined to elaborate.

The complainant has also named Mimoh’s mother (Mithun’s wife) and former actress Yogeeta Bali as co-accused.

The complainant claimed that she was in a relationship with Mimoh since 2015 and he had promised to marry her but backtracked. She alleged that Mimoh called her home at that point in time and spiked her drink, before forcibly making physical relations with her.

She alleged that when she became pregnant, Mimoh forced her to abort and when she refused he gave her some pills that terminated her pregnancy.

The woman also claimed that she was threatened by Mimoh’s mother when she was to lodge a police complaint.

Married to television serial actress Madalasa Sharma in 2018, Mahaakshay, 36, made his Bollywood debut with “Jimmy” (2008), besides acting in films like “Haunted 3D”, “Loot”, “Enemmy”, and “Ishqedarriyaana, etc.

Don’t bat in practice pants: Jayawardene to De Kock

0

Mumbai Indians’ opening batsman and wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock put up a perfect performance with the bat on Friday night, scoring a 44-ball 78 to lead his team to an eight-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

But if you ask team head coach Mahela Jayawardene, his show on the batting crease wasn’t exactly perfect.

In a video released by the Mumbai Indians on Twitter, the former Sri Lanka batsman is seen telling De Kock to avoid batting in practice pants which the South African did on Friday.

“Apart from Quinny going and batting with his practice pants, everything else was pretty decent,” he said during a post-match pep talk in the team camp, leaving others in splits.

“Ok, so don’t do that again because the marketing guys are going nuts, people went nuts as well. If it works, it works but we’ll sort something else,” he said to De Kock.

De Kock had to lower his jersey during the innings to hide the orange strip on the practice pants.

Jayawardene then went on to praise the team. “But guys, well done, really good effort. Quick turnaround. Next game’s in Dubai.”

Mumbai Indians lead the points table with 12 points. They are ahead of Delhi Capitals on net run rate.

Kerala IAS officer under medical observation for 24 hrs

0

Suspended IAS officer M Sivasankar on Saturday underwent an angiography that revealed he had no cardiac issues, but will now be under medical observation for another 24 hours before his likely discharge on Sunday.

The former Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was taken to a hospital on Friday night soon after the Customs official visited his residence to take him for questioning in the gold smuggling case.

It was said that had he not been taken to hospital, in all likelihood, he would have been taken to the Customs office here and his arrest recorded before his transfer to the Customs headquarters in Kochi.

The IAS officer has been questioned by the Customs, the National Investigation Agency, and the Enforcement Directorate ever since the gold smuggling case surfaced on July 5.

He was asked to present himself before the Customs on Friday, but when he said he was unwell, the Customs officials went to his residence. When they decided to take him for questioning, Sivasankar claimed he was feeling unwell and was taken to the hospital.

The Kerala High Court, acting on an anticipatory bail plea of Sivasankar, had ordered the ED not to arrest him till Friday next when the court will hear his plea in detail.

Hence, Sunday will be a crucial day for Sivasankar: If he is discharged on Sunday morning, all eyes will be on the Customs as it’s only the ED that has been asked not to arrest the officer till October 23.

Pietersen leaves IPL to be with kids; picks MI, RCB & DC as favourites

0

Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen, who was on the commentary panel at the Indian Premier League here, left the UAE for a home to spend time with his children.

Forty-year-old Pietersen, who represented England in 104 Test matches and also played in the IPL for RCB, said he ended his commentary stint at the lucrative league because he wanted to spend time with kids.

“I left the IPL as it’s half-term for my kids and I want to be at home with them. It’s been a strange year, so now they’re off school, I want to be with them all day, every day,” tweeted Pietersen.

Pietersen also put his views on the IPL 2020 competition on a blog after announcing his departure. He said he was happy to see bowlers catching up.

“Yes, it’s been spectacular to watch the guys hit the ball as far as they can — which, by the way, is consistently out of the stadium. But it’s great to see that the bowlers are starting to catch up,” wrote Pietersen on blog.betway.com.

The former England skipper also wrote that IPL 2020 is going to be a three-way contest with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Delhi Capitals, and Mumbai Indians being the main contenders.

Pietersen had on Thursday night criticized RCB skipper Virat Kohli’s decision to send AB de Villiers at No. 6 against Kings XI Punjab despite the South African having played a 33-ball 73-run knock batting at No. 4 against Kolkata Knight Riders in the previous game on Monday.

iPhone 11, SE 2020 gone in a jiffy during India festive sale

0

Apple iPhone 11 and SE 2020 went flying off the shelves on the first day of the festive sale in India.

On Apple Store Online, iPhone 11 disappeared within a couple of hours as the festive offer opened on October 17.

As part of festive season offers, Apple gave out free AirPods with a limited stock of iPhone 11.

iPhone SE 2020 was another Apple product that was sold faster on e-commerce platforms like Flipkart during the ‘Big Billion Day’ sale.

Some buyers even grabbed the new iPhone SE 2020 for nearly Rs 20,000 after trade-ins and other festive schemes on credit and debit cards.

The iPhone SE 2020 starts from Rs 4,696 a month on EMI or Rs 39,900 before trade-in on Apple Store Online.

The base variant of the iPhone 11 with 64GB internal storage is now available for Rs 54,900, whereas the 128GB and 256GB model costs Rs 59,900, and Rs 69,900, respectively.

Soon after the launch of the new iPhone 12 series, Apple slashed the prices for older iPhone models including the hot-selling iPhone XR, iPhone SE (2020), and iPhone 11.

According to Navkendar Singh, Research Director, IDC India, and South Asia, this festive season and next few months in India, “iPhone 11 would still do best, followed by iPhone SE 2020, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Mini, in that order”.

Apple has managed to maintain its share well in the off-season period.

With the October 13 launch of the new iPhone 12 series, Apple’s sales are expected to rise but only in November as the launch is later than previous years.

However, the long lifecycle of the iPhone 11 series and the successful new iPhone SE will help Apple bridge the gap till then, according to Counterpoint Research.

Google stops biggest-ever DDoS cyber attack to date

0

The cybersecurity threats such as distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) are growing exponentially, disrupting businesses of all sizes globally, leading to outages and loss of user trust, Google has said.

The tech giant revealed that its infrastructure absorbed a massive 2.5Tbps DDoS in September 2017, the highest-bandwidth attack reported to date which was the culmination of a six-month campaign that utilized multiple methods of attack.

“Despite simultaneously targeting thousands of our IPs, presumably in hopes of slipping past automated defenses, the attack had no impact,” Google said in a statement on Friday.

The attacker used several networks to spoof 167 Mbps (millions of packets per second) to 180,000 exposed CLDAP, DNS, and SMTP servers, which would then send large responses to Google.

“This demonstrates the volumes a well-resourced attacker can achieve: This was four times larger than the record-breaking 623 Gbps attack from the Mirai botnet a year earlier. It remains the highest-bandwidth attack reported to date, leading to reduced confidence in the extrapolation,” the company informed.

With a DDoS attack, an adversary hopes to disrupt their victim’s service with a flood of useless traffic.

While this attack doesn’t expose user data and doesn’t lead to a compromise, it can result in an outage and loss of user trust if not quickly mitigated.

Attackers are constantly developing new techniques to disrupt systems.

“Some attacks may not even focus on a specific target, but instead attack every IP in a network. Multiplying the dozens of attack types by the diversity of infrastructure that must be defended leads to endless possibilities,” Google said.

The company said the main task is to determine the capacity needed to withstand the largest DDoS attacks for each key metric.

“While we can estimate the expected size of future attacks, we need to be prepared for the unexpected, and thus we over-provision our defenses accordingly”.

The company recently announced ‘Cloud Armor Managed Protection’ which enables users to further simplify their deployments, manage costs, and reduce overall DDoS and application security risk.

Google said it is working with others in the internet community to identify and dismantle infrastructure used to conduct attacks.

Trump approves California’s request for wildfire relief funds

0

US President Donald Trump has approved California’s request for a Major Disaster Declaration to bolster the state’s emergency response to the massive wildfires, Governor Gavin Newsom said.

“Just got off the phone with President Trump who has approved our Major Disaster Declaration request. Grateful for his quick response,” Xinhua news agency quoted Newsom as saying in a tweet on Friday.

A Presidential Major Disaster Declaration helps people in the impacted counties through eligibility for support including crisis counseling, housing, and unemployment assistance, and legal services, according to a statement from Newsom’s office.

It also provides federal assistance to help state, tribal, and local governments fund emergency response, recovery, and protective measures.

California official said earlier that the Trump administration had rejected California’s application for disaster relief funds, which aimed at bolstering the state’s emergency response to wildfires across the state and support impacted residents in six counties in the state, including Fresno, Los Angeles, Madera, Mendocino, San Bernardino, San Diego, and Siskiyou counties.

Newsom had asked for the major disaster declaration on September 28.

There was a clash of views between the Trump administration and California on the state’s handling of wildfires.

The administration urged California to improve the management of its forests, while Newsom blamed climate change for wildfires.

In its latest update, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire) said that as of Friday nearly 9,000 firefighters remained on the frontlines of 21 wildfires across the state, 12 of which remain major incidents.

On Thursday, firefighters responded to 29 new wildfires, and despite Red Flag Warning conditions in many areas, all were quickly contained.

Since the beginning of the year, there have been over 8,500 wildfires that have burned well over 4.1 million acres in California.

To date, the total number of fatalities statewide is 31, and more than 9,200 structures have been destroyed.

Biden leads Trump in TV viewership ratings from duelling town halls

0

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s town hall on ABC News drew 14.1 million viewers, surpassing the ratings for President Donald Trump’s town hall on NBC News, according to the latest data.

The data from Nielsen Media Research on Friday revealed that Trump’s event the previous night, aired across NBC and its sibling cable channels of MSNBC and CNBC in the same hour, drew 13.5 million viewers altogether, reports Xinhua news agency.

It was “a result virtually no one in the TV business expected”, said a CNN report.

Before the competing town halls, it had been widely expected that Trump would score a higher Nielsen rating, an estimate of the total number of viewers for a particular television program since Biden’s town hall only aired on ABC but the President’s also appeared on NBC’s sibling cable channels.

Nielsen’s ratings include viewership on broadcast and cable channels that aired each town hall (ABC for Biden and NBC, MSNBC and CNBC for Trump), as well as viewership of those channels on internet-connected TVs and out-of-home viewership (viewership at bars, restaurants, etc.)

The Nielsen ratings only measure viewership on TV sets.

Both town halls were live-streamed to phones, computers, and other devices.

Trump and Biden were originally scheduled to face off on Thursday in Miami at the now-canceled second presidential debate.

The Commission on Presidential Debates decided to stage the event virtually after Trump tested positive for Covid-19 on Oct. 1 but rejected the arrangement.

A final presidential debate is still scheduled for October 22 in Nashville, Tennessee.

Google removes 3,000 China-linked fake YouTube channels

0

As the US presidential election inches closer, Google said it has terminated more than 3,000 fake YouTube channels in the July-September period which were part of a large spam network linked to China that attempted to run an influence operation on YouTube.

As a result, this large China-operated network hasn’t been able to build an audience.

“Most of the videos we identify have fewer than 10 views, and most of these views appear to come from related spam accounts rather than actual users,” Google said in a statement late on Friday.

“While this network posted frequently, the majority of this content was spam. We haven’t seen it effectively reach an actual audience on YouTube,” said Shane Huntley, Google Threat Analysis Group (TAG).

This YouTube network has a presence across multiple platforms and acts by primarily acquiring or hijacking existing accounts and posting spammy content in Mandarin such as videos of animals, music, food, plants, sports, and games.

“A small fraction of these spam channels will then post videos about current events. Such videos frequently feature clumsy translations and computer-generated voices,” Huntley informed.

Researchers at Graphika and FireEye have detailed how this network behaves — including its shift from posting content in Mandarin about issues related to Hong Kong and China’s response to Covid-19 to including a small subset of content in English and Mandarin about current events in the US (such as protests around racial justice, the wildfires on the West Coast, and the US response to Covid-19).

In June, Google saw phishing attempts against the personal email accounts of staffers on the Joe Biden and Donald Trump campaigns by Chinese and Iranian APTs (Advanced Persistent Threats), respectively.

The Iranian attacker group (APT35) and the Chinese attacker group (APT31) targeted campaign staffers’ personal emails with credential phishing emails and emails containing tracking links.

“As part of our wider tracking of APT31 activity, we’ve also seen them deploy targeted malware campaigns,” Google said.

“Overall, we’ve seen increased attention on the threats posed by APTs in the context of the US election,” the tech giant added.

In September, Google also saw multiple North Korean groups shifting their targeting towards Covid-19 researchers and pharmaceutical companies, including those based in South Korea.

One campaign used URL shorteners and impersonated the target’s webmail portal in an attempt to harvest email credentials.

In a separate campaign, attackers posed as recruiting professionals to lure targets into downloading malware, Google said.

IPL: Orange Cap stays with KL Rahul, Purple with Rabada

0

Kings XI Punjab skipper and opening batsman KL Rahul continued to wear the Orange Cap, leading the Indian Premier League run charts with 448 runs in eight games. He is followed by KXIP teammate and Ranji statemate Mayank Agarwal in the list, who has 382 runs.

CSK’s Faf du Plessis (307), RCB’s Virat Kohli (304), and DC’s Shreyas Iyer (298) occupy the third, fourth, and fifth places.

Delhi Capitals’ Kagiso Rabada leads the wicket-takers’ list for Purple Cap, with 18 scalps in eight matches.

The South African pace bowler is way ahead of his nearest competitors, Rajasthan Royals’ Jofra Archer, Mumbai Indians’ duo Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult, and Kings XI Punjab’s Mohammed Shami, all of who have 12 wickets.

In the points table, Mumbai Indians (MI) are perched atop with 12 points after eight games. Although Delhi Capitals (DC) to have 12 points with the same number of wins, i.e. six, the Mumbai franchise is ahead on the net run rate. Royals Challengers Bangalore are third with 10 points.

US stocks end mixed after retail sales data

0

US stocks closed mixed as investors pored through the nation’s monthly retail sales data.

On Friday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 112.11 points, or 0.39 percent, to 28,606.31. The S&P 500 was up 0.47 points, or 0.01 percent, to 3,483.81. The Nasdaq Composite Index decreased 42.32 points, or 0.36 percent, to 11,671.56, Xinhua news agency reported.

Seven of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors finished higher, with utilities up 1.08 percent, leading the advancers. Energy dipped 2.3 percent, the worst-performing group.

US-listed Chinese companies traded mostly higher, with eight of the top 10 stocks by weight in the S&P US Listed China 50 index ending the day on an upbeat note.

The moves came after data showed US retail sales rose more than expected last month.

US retail sales climbed 1.9 per cent in September, the Department of Commerce reported on Friday. Economists polled by MarketWatch had forecast a 1.2 percent increase.

“There’s a lot of healing in that chart, but the healing process has slowed,” Chris Low, chief economist at FHN Financial, said in a note, adding “there is still obvious damage in the economy.”

On Thursday, Wall Street’s major averages suffered their third straight day of losses, their longest losing streak in nearly a month, as investors fretted over the uncertain fate of a US coronavirus stimulus bill.

“Market volatility is set to continue in the weeks ahead as investors brace for a host of uncertainties, including the timing of vaccine availability, the size and timing of additional US fiscal stimulus, and the election outcome,” said Mark Haefele, chief investment officer at UBS Global Wealth Management.

‘DDLJ’ started behind-the-scene trend in Bollywood: Uday Chopra

The Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol starrer, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, is all set to complete 25 years in Hindi cinema on October 20. Actor Uday Chopra, who was an assistant on the set, recalled how the film started the trend of Behind The Scene (BTS) videos in Bollywood.

DDLJ, as the film is popularly known, marked the directorial debut of Uday’s elder brother Aditya Chopra, known as Adi in Bollywood circles.

“Adi wanted to do something that no one had ever done before in India with DDLJ. He asked me to be in charge of directing the ‘making’, and since this had not been done before, I had to pretty much invent how to go about it. Having just returned from film school in California, I decided this would be a great opportunity to try my hand at another aspect of filmmaking,” Uday said.

He added: “The first thing we needed was lots of footage on set and back then S-VHS was the only viable option. So, apart from being an assistant on the set I also became the videographer for the BTS footage!”

Uday shared that he would literally have a camera in one hand and the clap in the other, with a utility belt to keep batteries, charging cables, and other spare parts.

“I was quite a sight on the set! The advantage, which I later discovered was that all artists were very comfortable with me being right in their faces! This made for some really interesting and intimate shots, which helped the BTS footage tremendously,” he recalled.

“DDLJ was the film that started a trend which is now popularly called BTS or Behind The Scenes. Back then, we just called it ‘The Making’,” informed Uday.

Released in 1995, the film is directed by Aditya Chopra. The story revolves around the characters Raj and Simran, who meet during a trip across Europe and fall in love.

India records decline in new Covid cases, tally over 74L

0

With a spike of 62,211 new Covid-19 cases and 837 deaths in 24 hours, India’s tally reached 74,32,680, the Union Health Ministry data said on Saturday.

The spike is lower than the Friday figures of 63,371 coronavirus new cases and 895 deaths recorded in 24 hours.

India’s doubling time has also sharply increased to 70.4 days. This indicates a substantial fall in the daily new cases and the consequent increase in time taken to double the total cases.

On Saturday, the Health Ministry data said 65,24,595 have been discharged, 7,95,087 are currently active while 1,12,998 lost the battle against the pandemic.

The recovery rate stands at 87.78 percent, the fatality rate is 1.52 percent, the data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said.

Maharashtra continues to be the worst-hit with a total of 15,76,062 cases, including 41,502 deaths; followed by Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi.

According to the data from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), India conducted 9,99,090 sample tests in a single day on Friday, taking the total number of samples tested so far to 9,32,54,017.

Dominant MI can’t take the foot off the pedal: Rohit

0

Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma said that the team is staying guarded against complacency after a facile eight-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday that helped them go back to the top of the table. MI have won every match they have played since losing to Royal Challengers Bangalore in a Super Over on September 28.

The matches have mostly been one-sided affairs with them winning by 48 runs against Kings XI Punjab, 34 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad, 57 runs against Rajasthan Royals, and five wickets against the Delhi Capitals who they replaced at the top of the table on Friday when they chased down the target of 149 set by KKR with more than three overs to spare.

“It is important for us to make sure we stay on the money. It is important to not be complacent. This tournament is very funny, can’t take the foot off the pedal at any time, we have seen how teams lose at times,” said Rohit in the post-match presentation ceremony.

“The guys are very hungry, they haven’t played cricket for six months and they want to come out here and express themselves. Guys like Krunal (Pandya) or Ishan (Kishan) have not gotten many chances and these guys are very hungry and they want to prove a point.”

On Friday, MI restricted KKR to 148/5 before chasing down the target with ease. “We were clinical with both bat and ball, the expected performance was there. It’s always a challenge when you have won four out of four, how you turn up on that particular day. I thought we turned up very well, right from the start,” he said.

“It’s special to chase and win, gives us a lot of confidence. The trend in the first half of the tournament has been that teams chasing have lost games but I guess it’s changing now. Teams batting second will miss the games in the second half I feel.”

Clinical Mumbai thrash Kolkata in a mismatch

0

Maintaining their winning streak, reigning champions Mumbai Indians (MI) outclassed Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by eight wickets on Friday to reclaim the top spot on the Indian Premier League (IPL) points table.

While it was MI’s sixth win from eight games, KKR suffered their second consecutive and fourth defeat overall in the ongoing season. Mumbai now has 12 points — the same as Delhi Capitals — from eight matches. But Mumbai is ahead on the net run rate (+1.353) while Delhi Capitals are second with +0.990.

Royal Challengers Bangalore are placed third with -0.139. All eight teams have now played eight matches, and each team will play six more in the league phase.

MI bowlers came all guns blazing at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium on Friday night as they restricted KKR to a moderate 148 for five wickets in 20 overs, before Quinton de Kock’sunbeaten 78 guided his side home with 19 balls to spare. Mumbai ended up with 149 for two wickets in 16.5 overs.

Chasing the target, openers Rohit Sharma (35) and de Kock took MI to 51 in the initial six overs. It seemed the duo will comfortably steer MI home. However, Shivam Mavi dismissed Rohit in the 11th over when the defending champions were six runs short of the three-digit mark.

Suryakumar Yadav (10) fell cheaply, thanks to Varun Chakravarthy coming up with the second breakthrough in the 14th over.

The late strikes, however, weren’t enough to help KKR in stopping their opponents as Hardik Pandya (21) and de Kock shared a match-winning 38-run (20 balls) partnership to finish things off in just 16.5 overs. de Kock’s unbeaten winnings, which came off 44 balls, was decorated with nine boundaries and three sixes.

Earlier, Pat Cummins (53 not out) and Eoin Morgan (39 not out) somehow managed to take their side to 148/5 wickets after the two-time champions suffered a top-order collapse.

KKR’s new skipper Morgan decided to bat after winning the toss. However, the decision backfired as the top half of his batting lineup was back in the hut with just 61 runs on board in 10.4 overs.

It was Cummins and Morgan’s crucial unbeaten 87-run partnership for the sixth wicket which helped KKR near the 15-run mark.

While Cummins knock contained five boundaries and two sixes, Morgan smashed two fours and as many maximums.

For MI, leggie Rahul Chahar starred with the ball with impressive figures of 2/18 from his four overs while pacers Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah, and Nathan Coulter-Nile picked a wicket each.

Brief scores: MI 149/2 wkts in 16.5 overs (Quinton de Kock 78, Rohit Sharma 35; Varun Chakravarthy 1/23) beat KKR 148/5 wkts in 20 overs (Pat Cummins 53 not out, Eoin Morgan 39 not out; Rahul Chahar 2/18) by 8 wickets

Twitter changes hacked material policy after Biden article row

0

Facing backlash over blocking a New York Post article criticizing Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and his son, Twitter has now decided to make changes to its hacked materials policy.

Twitter introduced the “Hacked Materials Policy” back in 2018 to discourage and mitigate harms associated with hacks and unauthorized exposure of private information.

After the New York Post published a series of stories on Wednesday citing emails, purportedly sent by Biden’s son, Twitter blocked users from posting pictures of the emails or links to two of the New York Post’s stories, citing its rules against sharing “content obtained through hacking that contains private information.”

But now Twitter wants to change this policy because it thinks that there could be many unintended consequences to journalists, whistleblowers, and others in ways “that are contrary to Twitter’s purpose of serving the public conversation.”

“Over the last 24 hours, we’ve received significant feedback (from critical to supportive) about how we enforced our Hacked Materials Policy yesterday, After reflecting on this feedback, we have decided to make changes to the policy and how we enforce it,” Vijaya Gadde, Legal, Policy and Trust & Safety Lead at Twitter said in a series of tweets on Thursday.

“We believe that labeling Tweets and empowering people to assess content for themselves better serves the public interest and public conversation. The Hacked Material Policy is being updated to reflect these new enforcement capabilities,” she said.

However, Twitter is still blocking a New York Post article criticizing Biden under the other reason it had cited on Wednesday.

Twitter said that the “images contained in the articles include personal and private information — like email addresses and phone numbers — which violate our rules”.

Facebook also limited the spread of the story, saying the story had made unverified claims about Hunter Biden’s Ukraine business and therefore the story was eligible for third-party fact-checking.
