KTR Extends a Warm Welcome to Women’s Bill:

BRS working president and IT minister K.T. Rama Rao (KTR)expressed his approval on Wednesday for the passage of the women’s quota Bill, considering it a step in the right direction towards involving women in policymaking.

During the launch event for the redeveloped International Tech Park Hyderabad (ITPH) by CapitaLand Investment Limited (CLI), K.Rama Rao (KTR) welcomed Singapore Parliament Deputy Speaker Jessica Tan.

CLI, a prominent global real estate investment manager, initiated operations at the newly revamped International Tech Park Hyderabad (ITPH) as part of its first phase. The Block-A office building within the business park has secured 100 percent lease commitments from major global corporations. Additionally, a groundbreaking ceremony marked the commencement of a 40-megawatt (MW) data center development within ITPH.

CapitaLand India Trust (CLINT) is set to invest in the comprehensive redevelopment of ITPH, to be executed in phases over the next seven to ten years. Once completed, ITPH will offer 4.9 million square feet of Grade A+ office space, accommodating more than 50,000 IT/IT-enabled Services (ITeS) professionals.

Thus far, over $1.5 billion (equivalent to more than Rs 12,000 crore) has been invested in Hyderabad, with an additional $600 million earmarked for future investments, as announced by the company.

K. Rama Rao (KTR) emphasized CLI’s commitment to establishing top-notch business parks and data centers in Hyderabad, aligning with the city’s burgeoning IT sector. Given Hyderabad’s growing appeal to global corporations, he expressed dedication to providing the necessary infrastructure and support for these companies to thrive. He also encouraged the company to consider investing in sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, life sciences, and warehousing, making Hyderabad a comprehensive hub.

Sanjeev Dasgupta, CEO of CLI India and CEO of CLINT, stated that Hyderabad is among the fastest-growing markets for CLI in India, with nearly three decades of experience. CLI currently operates 12 business parks across six Indian cities, three of which are in Hyderabad. These parks have consistently achieved a strong average occupancy rate of nearly 90 percent, accommodating over 150,000 professionals from both multinational and local companies.

As part of Phase-1 operations, the 1.4 million square feet Block-A office building has secured lease commitments from global corporations, including Bristol Myers Squibb, Ernst & Young, Tata Consultancy Services, VXI Global, US Technology, Warner Bros. Discovery, ANSR Global Corporation, Cloud4C Services.

The ITPH data center, spanning 3 lakh square feet in built-up area, will feature advanced technology specifications to serve international hyper-scalers and large enterprises.

In a development favoring film actor Navdeep, the Telangana High Court issued a directive on Wednesday instructing the Hyderabad Police not to take coercive measures against him in the ongoing drugs case. This case was registered by the Gudimalkapur police recently following the apprehension of three Nigerians involved in drug peddling.

The Telangana High Court specifically instructed the investigative team that if they wish to question or inquire into the actor’s involvement, they must adhere to the procedures outlined in Section 41A of the CrPC (Criminal Procedure Code). While the police are permitted to question or inquire, they are prohibited from making any arrests.

Justice K. Surender presided over the anticipatory bail application submitted by Navdeep, who had filed the application anticipating his potential arrest. The police had previously stated in the media that Navdeep was evading arrest.

Navdeep’s counsel informed the court that the remand report concerning other individuals implicated in the case clearly indicates that Navdeep is considered a suspect in drug consumption rather than drug peddling. Emphasizing this point, the counsel argued that drug consumers may have some legal protections and requested appropriate orders.

Sudarshan Sara, the additional public prosecutor, contested this request and brought to the court’s attention that Navdeep had previously been questioned in connection with a Tollywood drug case and had a history of involvement. Without complete information, it was premature to conclude that Navdeep was only a consumer. Sudarshan argued that interrogating the accused, Navdeep, could potentially reveal further information.

After considering the arguments presented by both sides, the Judge issued orders mandating compliance with the procedures outlined in Section 41A of the CrPC. Subsequently, on Wednesday evening, the police issued Section 41A notices to Navdeep, requesting his appearance for questioning regarding the drug case.

TSRTC Introduces 25 Environmentally Friendly Luxury Buses:

In a significant step towards sustainability, Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar unveiled 25 “Green Metro Luxury” air-conditioned buses at Gachibowli. These buses will serve routes from Wave Rock to Bachupally, JBS to Airport via LB Nagar, and Secunderabad to Wave Rock, starting regular service this Saturday.

The event was attended by V.C. Sajjanar and other officials. TSRTC has plans to introduce a total of 50 Green Metro Luxury AC buses, with the remaining 25 scheduled to be integrated into the fleet shortly.

Noteworthy is that these buses are eco-friendly, producing zero air pollution. They have a range of up to 225 km on a single charge and can be fully charged within 3 to 4 hours. Additionally, the buses are equipped with two security cameras in the cabin and saloon, along with one month of backup facilities.

Within the framework of the US-India initiative on Critical and Emerging Technology (iCET), a roadmap for increased collaboration in high-tech sectors has been introduced. Dr. Seth Center from the Office of the Special Envoy for Critical and Emerging Technology highlighted this collaboration.

Elizabeth Allen, the Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, and Dr. Seth Center engaged with international journalists during the International Reporting Tour in Boston, Detroit, and Washington from September 6 to 16. They discussed recent US-India initiatives and their practical implications. Regarding the US-India initiative, Dr. Seth Center emphasized that National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and his Indian counterpart Ajit Doval launched a significant endeavor. Known as iCET, this initiative underscores the need for a strategic technology partnership that aligns with their broader strategic relationship.

It identifies key technology areas for deepening collaboration, with a focus on building robust supply chains, particularly in microelectronics. Dr. Center mentioned the goal of co-developing technologies in the sectors emphasized by iCET, aimed at reducing historical frictions and promoting business cooperation. Dr. Center explained that elevating this initiative to the level of National Security Advisors was necessary to overcome various frictions, whether commercial or bureaucratic and to elevate it almost to the Presidential level.

He noted that progress has been substantial since the initiative was launched in January 2023, with a detailed work plan in place. Elizabeth Allen highlighted the US’s approach to examining the opportunities and threats posed by artificial intelligence (AI) from multiple angles. The goal is to formulate equitable and global solutions, ensuring that governments and individuals have choices in terms of technology usage and investments. Collaboration is a central theme, involving allies, partners, and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds, both public and private sectors.

The US is taking a leadership role in addressing AI’s challenges and opportunities, recognizing the need to prevent and regulate its potential harms. Despite acknowledging the risks, the US remains optimistic about the possibilities presented by emerging technology and AI.

Furthermore, the US is committed to inclusivity, bringing together a wide range of voices to discuss these issues. Secretary of State Antony Blinken will convene a high-level event at the upcoming UN General Assembly to facilitate this dialogue. A fundamental principle guiding the US approach to emerging technology and AI is the recognition that no single country can or should tackle these challenges in isolation. Collaboration involving government, civil society, advocacy groups, and tech companies is essential to navigate the future of emerging tech and AI.

Sai Pallavi Joins the Journey of NC23:

Naga Chaitanya is currently involved in an upcoming film that is yet to receive an official title. This project, referred to as NC23, revolves around a love story based on the life of a fisherman who gets detained by the Pakistan Coast Guard.

NC23 has been garnering significant attention from the Telugu audience due to the extensive groundwork and commitment exhibited by the creators. The movie was launched a few months ago, and the initial documentary phase has also been completed.

The NC23 production team has now unveiled the actress set to play the female lead in the film. The exceptionally talented Sai Pallavi will be starring opposite Naga Chaitanya. This marks their second collaboration after the superhit film “Love Story” in 2021.

Preproduction activities for the film are in full swing, and filming for NC23 is set to commence shortly. Chandoo Mondeti is directing the project, which is proudly presented by Allu Aravind and produced by Bunny Vasu under the Geetha Arts banner.

Opposition Backs Women’s Bill with OBC Quota:

Sonia Gandhi, Chief of the Congress parliamentary party, expressed her party’s support for the women’s reservation bill and called for its immediate implementation. She also demanded provisions for the reservation of OBC women.

During the Lok Sabha debate, Gandhi stressed that delaying the implementation of the reservation would be a grave injustice to Indian women. She urged the government to act swiftly and make provisions for the reservation of SC, ST, and OBC women after conducting a caste census. DMK leader M. Kanimozhi called for the removal of the “after delimitation” clause in the bill to avoid unnecessary delays in its implementation.

She emphasized that the bill aims to eliminate bias and injustice, not just provide reservation. NCP leader Supriya Sule criticized the bill as a “post-dated cheque” and questioned the government’s decision to hold a special session to approve it when census and delimitation dates are still uncertain.

She called for a clear timeline for implementation. JD(U) leader Rajiv Ranjan Singh accused the Modi government of using the bill as a political maneuver to win the 2024 elections. While he supported the bill’s objective, he called it a “jumla” or empty promise. Samajwadi Party member Dimple Yadav called for the reservation of women from backward classes, SC/STs, and minority communities in the bill.

Trinamool Congress member Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar criticized the government for linking the bill’s implementation to population census and delimitation, calling it a “sinister” move. BSP chief Mayawati urged the government to separate the bill from census and delimitation processes to ensure its immediate implementation. She accused both the BJP and Congress of using the bill for political gain and stated that certain provisions would delay its benefits for years.

Telugu Desam (TD) MPs and former MPs, along with Nara Lokesh, staged a silent protest at Rajghat in Delhi on Tuesday wearing black badges against the arrest of Nara Chandrababu Naidu.

The TD MPs Kesineni Srinivas alias Nani, Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, Galla Jayadev, and Kanakamedala Ravindra Kumar alleged that the state government is in jitters as people across the globe have taken up various protest programs against the illegal arrest of the former chief minister and TD supremo, Chandrababu Naidu.

They said that on the first day of the Parliament session, they raised the issue of the illegal arrest of Naidu by the YSRC government led by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The MPs claimed that there was no involvement of Naidu in the AP Skill Development scam and that it was a false case fabricated by the Jagan government under political vengeance. They expressed hope for justice in the court proceedings.

They stated that Naidu was falsely accused and illegally arrested, emphasizing his belief in justice and righteousness.

CM Jagan to Offer Silk Robes to Goddess Durga on October 20 in Vijayawada:

“The Schedule for Dasara Sarannavarathri Utsavalu at Indrakeeladri Durga Temple Announced”
The festivities will take place from October 15 to 23, with various attires for Goddess Durga. The nine-day celebrations on Indrakeeladri hill will feature the presiding deity, Goddess Sri Kanaka Durga, appearing as ‘Sri Maha Chandi Devi Alankaram’ on October 19.

Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy is set to present silk robes to the goddess on October 20, when the presiding deity will appear as Sri Saraswathi Devi Alankaram.

The Sri Kanaka Durga temple trust board chairman, Karnati Rambabu, and EO Bhramaramba announced that the CM will offer silk robes at 3 pm on the auspicious Moola Nakshatra day, with over 3,400 police personnel ensuring law and order during the Dasara festivities.

The temple authorities are seeking coordination from all departments to ensure the success of the festivities, given incidents in the past.

During the nine-day Dasara celebrations, the goddess’s darshan timings will be from 3 am to 11 pm, except for the first day, when devotees will be allowed in after 8 am due to special poojas, Snapanabhishekarm, and other rituals.

On the auspicious occasion of Moola Nakshatra on October 20, devotees can have a darshan of the goddess from 2 a.m. to 11 p.m., and the CM Jagan Mohan Reddy will present silk robes to Goddess Durga.

As is tradition, neither devotees nor VIPs will be allowed the Anthralaya Darshan during the nine-day Dasara festivities. To accommodate devotees, the temple will make available 20 lakh laddu prasadams in advance.

This year, the temple is allocating around Rs. 7 crore for the arrangements, with Rs. 2.50 crore spent on engineering works.

Queue line works have already commenced, and devotees will be offered Annaprasadams during the festival, with Annadanam taking place at the Mahamandampam. Additionally, 600 barbers will be deployed for the convenience of devotees, and over 800 showers will be installed for bathing.

However, due to losses incurred with certain Telugu films, it appears they intend to trim their budgets.

This potential reduction in investment is causing concern among filmmakers, particularly those working on star-studded productions that heavily rely on support from these streaming platforms to ease the financial burden.

Producer Abhishek Nama emphasizes the significance of digital rights, alongside other revenue streams like audio, satellite, and Hindi dubbing rights, in enabling producers to recover their investments. The widespread viewership of these OTT platforms across over 200 countries adds to the apprehension.

Nevertheless, an unnamed top director points out that some top Telugu filmmakers share the blame for the situation. Their pursuit of pan-India movies and the subsequent high-value deals led to disappointments when these films failed to perform as expected.

Not every film can achieve the success of “RRR” or “Pushpa,” and certain Telugu filmmakers may have overestimated the global appeal of their projects. Digital platforms have recognized these limitations and are adjusting their strategies accordingly. For instance, a platform that purchased a Telugu star’s film for Rs 30 crore struggled to recoup even Rs 6 crore, prompting corporations to exercise caution.

5,000 Seers Gather for Consecration of Adi Shankaracharya Statue in Omkareshwar:

Approximately 5,000 seers are set to participate in the consecration of a 108 ft-high statue of Adi Shankaracharya, which is currently under construction at Ekatma Dham (the place of Oneness) on the scenic Mandhata mountain in Madhya Pradesh’s Khandwa district. The event, scheduled for Thursday, will see these seers welcomed by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to perform a ‘yagna’ for the ceremonial installation of the statue of the revered philosopher from the eighth century, known for his advocacy of Advait Vedanta philosophy.

In addition to the religious ceremonies, traditional Shaiva dancers from various parts of the country will be performing at the event. They will present the “Shivoham” dance, choreographed to the verses composed by Adi Shankara himself. Chief Minister Chouhan recently convened a high-level official meeting to oversee the preparations for the statue’s unveiling.

During the event, the chief minister will also lay the foundation for the Advait Lok or corridor. Several religious festivals are planned to coincide with the occasion, and two books authored by Acharya Shankar will be released. The unveiling of the statue, originally scheduled for September 18, had to be postponed to September 21 due to heavy rains in the region. Over the past three days leading up to the event, various pujas and rituals have been conducted at the site.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy exhibited his compassionate side on Tuesday as he met individuals grappling with various illnesses and provided them with substantial financial aid.

After returning from the inauguration of a lift irrigation project in Krishnagiri Mandal, Reddy sanctioned a total of Rs. 4 lahks in financial assistance, with each of the four beneficiaries receiving Rs. 1 lakh. Additionally, he assured them of improved medical support.

The district collector presented checks to the family members of the four individuals at her office on Tuesday. Beneficiaries of the financial assistance included Nivansh, Usharani and the 7-month-old son of S. Venkateswara Goud and from Narasimha Reddy Nagar in Kurnool town; B. Ram Prasad and from Potugallu village in Krishnagiri mandal T. Venkata Ramudu, and from Chennampalli village in Thuggali Mandal, O. Venkateswara Reddy’s family.

Deans from multiple departments at Kakatiya University (KU) issued a joint statement in Hanamkonda, refuting allegations of irregularities in Ph.D. admissions. They asserted that the Ph.D. category-II admissions process was conducted transparently, adhering to reservation rules and merit criteria. The entrance exam key was publicly posted on Kakatiya University’s website for review and recommendations.

To maintain fairness and transparency, the interview process was recorded for the first time in the university’s history. Selection committees, consisting of experienced faculty members representing various categories, including SC, ST, BC, women, and differently-abled individuals, were formed.

However, some candidates who did not meet merit or reservation requirements allegedly made unfounded claims, engaged in disruptive behavior, and sought improper admissions. Some political party leaders reportedly joined forces with these candidates to exert pressure on authorities in an inappropriate manner.

The deans also suggested that retired (KU) Kakatiya University professors, part-time teachers, non-teaching staff, and a few executive council members were influencing candidates to create instability on campus for personal gain. They called on civil society and the public to acknowledge these realities and recognize the disruptive role of certain individuals in tarnishing Kakatiya University’s reputation.

Indian Fast Bowler Shami Granted Bail in Domestic Violence Case Prior to World Cup

Indian cricketer Mohammad Shami has been granted bail by the Alipore Court in Kolkata in a domestic violence case filed against him by his estranged wife Hasin Jahan five years ago, providing him with significant relief ahead of the World Cup tournament.

Shami appeared in court for the first time, accompanied by his elder brother Mohammad Hasim, who is also an accused in the case. Both requested bail, and it was subsequently granted, according to Shami’s lawyer Selim Rahman.

Earlier, on August 23, the additional district judge had ordered Cricker to appear in person within 30 days and allowed him to apply for bail from the trial court, following the Kolkata police’s filing of charges in the case.

The domestic violence case was initiated on March 8, 2018, when Hasin filed an FIR against Shami and Hasim at the Jadavpur police station in southeastern Kolkata. A year later, an arrest warrant was issued against Mohammad by an additional judicial magistrate of the Alipore Court. However, this order was stayed by the district judge of the same court.

Hasin challenged this decision, eventually leading to the Calcutta High Court upholding the lower court’s order. Subsequently, she moved to the Supreme Court, which recently directed the district court to expedite the case and resolve it within a month after hearing both sides.
