Airtel Rs. 558 Prepaid Recharge Plan Revised, Validity Reduced to 56 Days

0

Airtel has revised its Rs. 558 prepaid recharge plan to reduce the validity by 26 days. The telecom operator had revised its entire portfolio earlier this month, increasing charges or reducing benefits. Now, in the case of the Rs. 558 prepaid recharge plan, the validity has been reduced, but all the other benefits remain the same. Airtel recently also introduced Wi-Fi calling service in Delhi-NCR, allowing customers to make calls over a Wi-Fi network, just like a regular voice call. It doesn’t require a separate app, and all users need to do is enable the Wi-Fi calling option.

Revised plan of airtel prepaid plan(558)

Coming back to the Airtel Rs. 558 prepaid plan, the benefits include truly unlimited voice calls, 3GB data per day, and 100 SMS per day. The validity has been reduced from 82 days to 56 days – a heavy reduction of 26 days. Additional benefits of the plan include a free four-week course at Shaw Academy that allows users to learn anything from photography to music.

The validity of this benefit is just 28 days. Other add-ons include Wynk music subscription, Airtel Xstream App Premium subscription that offers content from Zee5, HOOQ, 370+ Live TV Channels, and over 10,000 movies. The pack also offers Rs. 100 cashback on FASTag as well. The revised Airtel Rs. 558 pack is available in all circles and can be recharged via the Airtel Thanks app or the company website. This reduction invalidity was first spotted by Telecom Talk.

Airtel recently expanded support for Wi-Fi calling to six more phones, and these phones are the Samsung Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, Galaxy S10e, and Galaxy M20, as well as OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T, enabling them to switch to voice over Wi-Fi inside their homes/ offices. As mentioned, the service is live only in Delhi/ NCR for now, but it is expected to be rolled out to all major cities soon.

It further asked the AAI if the developments are to be taken in public-private partnership (PPP) or by the state government or other tenders. However, according to the sources, the Union Ministry of defense is interested in developing Adilabad airport while the AAI in Warangal airport.

The state government which originated the airport in Shamshabad cannot develop any other airport within a 150 km radius i.e, Warangal according to the agreement it had with GMR. It is also determined that the AAI has classified an airstrip near Warangal about 157 km from Shamshabad to overcome the 150-km hurdle and there is no need to seek NOC from GMR to develop the airport by the government.

CAA Protests: Internet Suspended In Parts Of UP, Security Beefed Up

0

Authorities decided to suspend internet services in towns and cities across Uttar Pradesh including Lucknow, Agra, Bulandshahr, Sambhal, Ghaziabad, Shamli, Mathura and Meerut, as a precautionary measure. It may be recalled that violent protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) broke out last week in various parts of UP which left more than 15 people killed and 200 security personnel injured. This time around, the Yogi Adityanath government is taking firm steps to avoid a repeat of the situation by tightening security in many parts of UP.

Apart from security being beefed up in many towns and cities across the state, patrolling has also been intensified. The UP government has ensured that paramilitary forces will standby and drone cameras are likely to be used by the state police in many districts. Security forces are reported to be taking every step to ensure that the Friday prayers in the state pass off peacefully and that no untoward incident takes place. In Muzaffarnagar police staged a flag march and are keeping a close vigil on the situation to make sure that troublemakers do not disturb peace.

Following violent protests last week, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had vowed to take stern action against rioters by seizing their property. The government had also sent notices identifying those who vandalized property during CAA protests. The UP chief minister’s stand has also come in for sharp criticism by opposition parties and rights activists, while many others have hailed his move.

AUS Vs NZ: Travis Head-Tim Paine stand powers Australia

0

Tim Paine registered his highest Test score as captain while Travis Head was unbeaten on 98 as Australia dominated the post-lunch session on Day 2 of the Boxing Day Test at the MCG. Head and Paine, who got together in the second hour of the morning session when Steve Smith fell to a short ball from Neil Wagner, put on an unbeaten 147-run stand for the fifth wicket to help Australia to 431 for 5 at Tea, with 95 runs coming off 30 overs in the session.

Pulls, cuts, and drives – there were plenty of those at the start of the second session as Paine and Head dealt in regular boundaries to power Australia forward, with the captain bringing up his first fifty-plus score in seven innings, with his seventh boundary of this innings. Be it driving through cover, playing the cut and pull shots or sweeping the spinner, Paine oozed confidence. Head, meanwhile, focused more on blunting the New Zealand bowlers but he also struck boundaries, with an upper cut off Wagner raising the first-century stand of the innings.

Paine had outscored Head on boundary count before the left-hander caught up with his skipper and powered Australia past the 400 marks in the second hour after Lunch. Head slowed down after he entered the 90s as he ended the session two short of the century mark, having faced 35 deliveries to move from 90 to 98. Paine, whose highest score as captain before this game was 62 against South Africa in March 2018, was unbeaten on 77 at the break.

Earlier, only 27 runs came in the 14 overs bowled in the first hour on Day 2 as Smith and Head went about it in a watchful manner. Barring a couple of threes and the first four which came in the 12th over of the day, it was a patient partnership that kept the New Zealand bowlers at bay, with Trent Boult and Tim Southee not troubling the batsmen much. But soon after the drinks break, life was injected into the session when Wagner bowled a well-directed short delivery to Smith, who fended at it awkwardly off the handle to gully where Henry Nicholls held on to a reverse one-handed catch jumping up.

While New Zealand sensed an avenue to get into Australia’s tail, the arrival of Paine also brought some positivity to Australia’s innings as the wicketkeeper-batsman didn’t shy from playing his shots, while Head too upped his scoring rate. Paine was peppered with short deliveries from Wagner but he handled them effectively while Head, at the other end, was solid with his approach as he crossed fifty, with the pair raising the fifth fifty-plus stand of the innings, before Lunch.

Brief scores: Australia 431/5 (Travis Head 98*, Steve Smith 85, Tim Paine 77*; Colin de Grandhomme 2-68, Neil Wagner 2-70) vs New Zealand.

Players, coaching staff apprehensive about touring Pakistan – Nazmul Hasan

0

Nazmul Hasan, the Bangladesh Cricket Board president, said that players and coaching staff have expressed their concern over touring in Pakistan, and added that it will be difficult to go ahead with the Test series in ‘a suffocating environment’ due to the stringent security measures.

“After talking to the players and coaching staff, what I understood is that there is no opportunity [to tour Pakistan for a Test series],” Nazmul told the reporters at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Thursday.

Earlier, the PCB had said that they won’t agree with following BCB had advised them to entertain the Test series in a vague venue, while they were ready to send their side for the three-match Twenty20 series in Pakistan.

Bangladesh is scheduled to tour Pakistan in January-February for a three-match T20 and two-match Test series, which is part of the World Test Championship.

Nazmul added that he is well aware that the security plan is more than satisfactory but added that the coaches and players are reluctant to stay there for a long period.

The BCB chief believes that perhaps the excess security measures can turn out to be suffocating for the tourists. While admitting that the security will be stringent, he added that he doesn’t want to take any risk at this moment.

“But our coaching crew is hesitant to go. Someone stated they may go for just a short visit. As I said earlier, the players said that their parents, relatives, and friends are concerned and requested them not to go. Secondly, the over-cautious security plan that will be in place will create a suffocating environment.
That’s why we told them that we may go now for the T20 series and we will come back within a week. Then we can think about whether we should go there for the longer format. If they agree for the T20 series, only then will we try to get the green signal from the government.”

SA Vs ENG: De Kock half-century helps South Africa stage brief recovery at Tea

0

South Africa continued to wobble but Quinton de Kock‘s attacking half-century took the side to 187 for 5 at Tea in Centurion on Thursday (December 26). The hosts lost Rassie van de Dussen (6) and Faf du Plessis (29) in the session and scored 108 in the 26 overs bowled.

Just like the first session, South Africa was once again jolted early into the session. Van de Dussen’s debut innings lasted just 34 balls, and resulted in six runs, as he fell to Sam Curran. Having shown good defense, the right-hander poked at a wide one delivery that was angling away to edge it to slip. It was then Stuart Broad’s turn to add to South Africa’s misery as he had du Plessis caught at first slip with one that left the batsman after pitching outside off. It was also Broad’s 400th Test wicket.

At 111 for 5, de Kock decided to live life on the edge. He could have been dismissed thrice – all times to Root – but somehow managed to survive. He kept attacking the England captain and kept reaping rewards with boundaries. In the 41st over, he tried to launch Root over mid-off but failed to connect and gave James Anderson a chance.

The pacer, though, got to the ball and failed to grab the opportunity. Twice more Root found the edge only to see it evade Ben Stokes at first slip. He eventually got to his half-century – off 45 balls – in the 46th over with nine hits to the fence.

Dwaine Pretorius, South Africa’s second debutant, was happy to play second fiddle but wasn’t ready to go into his shell. He too struck some handsome boundaries as the partnership stretched to 76 before the break.

Earlier in the day, South Africa slipped to 79 for 3 after being put in. Anderson, playing his 150th Test, dismissed Dean Elgar on the first ball of the game – caught behind down the leg side. Aiden Markram flicked a Curran delivery to short-mid-wicket while Zubayr Hamza fell to Broad after a highly promising 39.

Brief scores: South Africa 187/5 (Quinton de Kock 64; Sam Curran 2-30) vs England.

National Selector Devang Gandhi Removed From Bengal Dressing Room

0

National selector Devang Gandhi on Thursday suffered embarrassment when he was asked to leave the Bengal Ranji team dressing room for breach of protocol, a charge rejected by him. The incident happened when the second day’s play was held up due to bad light and Gandhi entered the dressing room, looking for team physio.

BCCI anti-corruption official Soumen Karmakar asked Gandhi to leave the dressing room after former captain Manoj Tiwary cited anti-corruption protocol, which specifies that only players and team support-staff can be present in the dressing room.

Gandhi though said he did take permission from the anti-corruption officer before entering the dressing room.

“I had followed every protocol. I was invited by Bengal coach Arun Lal to the dressing room. He was my first captain. I had a back issue, so I took permission and asked the Bengal physio to come to the medical room. But Manoj seemed to have issues with it,” Gandhi told PTI.

The East zone selector said Tiwary, who has played under him in a couple of Ranji seasons, did something uncalled for.

According to sources, the matter will be reported to BCCI President Sourav Ganguly.
The play was held up twice due to bad light in the first session with a partial solar eclipse as Bengal’s first innings folded for 289.

SA Vs ENG: Pacers give England early advantage

0

England claimed early honors of the Boxing Day Test as they reduced South Africa to 79 for 3 in Centurion at Lunch on an opening day on Thursday (December 26).

James Anderson, playing his 150th Test, struck with the first ball after England opted to field. Anderson bowled a loosener, down the leg side, and Dean Elgar managed to glove the delivery to the ‘keeper. There wasn’t plenty in the track for the bowlers but just enough to keep them interested. While Stuart Broad kept things tight, Sam Curran too struck in his first over.

In the tenth over, Markram edged the third ball but it fell just short of second slip. Curran then slipped one into the pads and Markram nonchalantly flicked the delivery to midwicket. At 32 for 2, South Africa needed a period of caution. Zubayr Hamza, though, refused to go into his shell and kept finding the boundaries to keep the score moving.

In Jofra Archer’s fourth over, the 17th of the innings, he collected two boundaries to take the team’s score past fifty. While the first one was creamed past cover, the next one has drilled down the ground as Hamza put on an early exhibition of front-foot play. That, however, didn’t last long as he was dismissed by Stuart Broad in the 22nd over of the game. Broad got a length delivery outside off and Hamza poked at that one to be caught at second slip. Faf du Plessis and debutant Rassie van der Dussen saw off the session from thereon.

Brief scores: South Africa 79/3 (Zubayr Hamza 39; Sam Curran 1-8) vs England.

MIT Students, Teachers Say On India’s Citizenship Law Protests

0

The “enormity” of the new citizenship law and the citizens’ list NRC combined will “irrevocably redefine Indian citizenship”, wrote over 130 students, faculty, staff and alumni of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as they expressed solidarity with the student protests that have erupted across India.

They said the democratic and secular foundation of the country is “under imminent threat”.
Condemning the police action on the students of Delhi’s Jamia Milia Isliamia and Aligarh Muslim University, as well as the crackdown on protests in other parts of the country, 135 students, faculty, staff and alumni of the prestigious university praised those who hit the streets in protest.

Students across the world, including those from Oxford University and Harvard University, have expressed concern over the use of police force during the protests.

Confronted with plenty of protests, several of which have been powerful, BJP has stepped up firefighting endeavors and intends to combine with three crore families over the following 10 days in an outreach endeavor.

The Citizenship Act makes religion the test of citizenship in India. The government announces it will support minorities from three Muslim-dominated nations to get citizenship if people decamped to India because of religious oppression. Critics state it is produced to separate upon Muslims and defiles the worldly principles of the constitution.

Aus Vs NZ: Smith, Labuschagne fifties give Australia Day 1 honours

0

On a hard-working day at the MCG – with punches and counter-punches being landed with equal measure – Australia had an edge thanks to Steve Smith’s unbeaten presence.

Australia had four their top five crossing 30 but only Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne converted their starts into half-centuries while New Zealand found ways to end promising partnerships and account for most of the top order. Smith, though, remained steadfast, helping the hosts end Day 1 of the Boxing Day Test at 257 for 4.

Having opted to bowl, it was an ideal start for New Zealand when Joe Burns was bowled by Trent Boult for a golden duck, with the ball curving in and beating the batsman on the drive. Marnus Labuschagne and David Warner were tested outside off, with both playing and missing a few times. But they survived and built a steady half-century stand, ensuring Australia did not lose any more wickets in the first hour.

Close to the lunch break, Wagner managed to end the partnership by getting Warner to edge a full delivery to second slip where Tim Southee held on to a good catch. And then it was time for the short-ball tactics when Smith walked out, with a short leg and leg gully in place. Smith managed to survive the barrage before the break but was livid, showing his displeasure to the umpire over dead-ball calls when he wore a couple of short balls on his body.

Short deliveries dominated the start of the second session with Neil Wagner battling it out against Smith, with the batsman constantly ducking and weaving. Southee, though, wasn’t as effective as Wagner and was put away for a couple of fours by Smith, one of which was an authoritative pull. Labuschagne, meanwhile, employed the pull against Wagner, having been handed a reprieve earlier when Kane Williamson missed a direct hit at the non-striker’s end. The determined pair, with exaggerated leaves, saw off New Zealand’s short-ball persistence to survive the hour after Lunch.

Mitchell Santner’s bowling made for easy pickings for Labuschagne and Smith, who struck a pull and a shot down the ground respectively for a couple of sixes. There were a few outside edges off Labuschagne’s bat that evaded the fielders as the 25-year-old registered his fifth successive fifty-plus score. But his outing came to an end before the tea break when he attempted to leave a Colin de Grandhomme delivery but the ball struck his elbow and ricocheted on to the stumps. Wagner was back for a small burst towards the end of the session and, as was expected of him, he peppered the batsmen with short balls. But Smith and Matthew Wade survived as Australia went into the break three down.

Copping a blow on his body and helmet, almost finding the fielder at leg gully, and having had to evade the ball plenty of times, it was a testing period for Wade on either side of the tea break, with Wagner going hard at him. Smith, meanwhile, edged a couple of Southee deliveries en route his fifty as the fourth wicket pair built a watchful partnership. Hard work was the base for the partnership, which was built mostly by collecting singles, the occasional twos and threes, while Smith did manage a few boundaries.

New Zealand, despite all their hard work and finding the edges multiple times, did not have any luck on their side. The three fours that Wade managed were all off edges, adding to New Zealand’s frustrations until de Grandhomme tempted the left-hander into a drive and found the outside edge that landed in the hands of the ‘keeper. The visitors took the second new ball straight away and operated with Boult and Southee. But they weren’t able to do any damage as Smith found an able ally in Travis Head with whom he put on an unbeaten 41-run stand.

Brief scores: Australia 257/4 (Steve Smith 77*, Marnus Labuschagne 63; Colin de Grandhomme 2-48) vs New Zealand.

BBL: Short, McDermott fifties help Hurricanes cruise to win

0

Melbourne Renegades have still been unable to open their account in the Big Bash League after slipping to their third successive loss. This time, against a clinical Hobart Hurricanes unit, led by D’Arcy Short, forced them to a seven-wicket loss in Hobart on Tuesday (December 24).

James Faulkner, Nathan Ellis, and Riley Meredith returned three wickets each to keep the Renegades to 147 in 19.1 overs. Losing Sam Harper on the third delivery of the innings, they were led by skipper Aaron Finch’s fifty that came off 37 balls after opting to bat.

Hurricanes too were reduced to 25 for 2 in their chase, before Short took control and shared a 74-run stand with Ben McDermott, who remained unbeaten on 51. While Short fell with less than 50 runs to get for a 45-ball 60, skipper McDermott’s sedate knock of a 48-ball 51 took them over the line with five balls to spare.

Renegades are now the only side without a win so far in the season.

Brief scores: Melbourne Renegades 147 in 19.1 overs (Aaron Finch 50; James Faulkner 3-26, Nathan Ellis 3-15, Riley Meredith 3-26) lost to Hobart Hurricanes 148/3 in 19.1 overs (D’Arcy Short 60, Ben McDermott 51; Tom Cooper 2-32) by seven wickets.

Realme C3, Realme 5i Listed on Singapore’s IMDA, Expected to Launch Soon

0

2019 is almost done but there doesn’t seem to be any off days for phone leaks. Realme seems to be gearing up to launch two new budget phones — the Realme C3 and the Realme 5i — as these were spotted on Singapore’s IMDA (Infocomm Media Development Authority) website.

We don’t have a lot of details at the moment, other than the name and model numbers of the two devices. The Realme 5i incidentally bears the same model number to a recent leak of the same phone, on the Wi-Fi Alliance certification website, thereby confirming its legitimacy.

The news about the two phones on IMDA was tweeted by tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore (@Sudhanshu1414), along with a screenshot of the IMDA listing page. The Realme C3 listing bears the model number ‘RMX1941′ along with details such as support for LTE. This means the Realme C3 will be a non-5G smartphone when it launches early next year. The devices were listed by Sinoppel Device Pte. Ltd. which is the local office of Oppo Mobiles.

The Realme C3 would replace the Realme C2, which is an entry-level smartphone from the company. However, the specifications of this phone are still unknown.

The second phone is the Realme 5i that is listed with the model number ‘RMX2030,’ which is the same number we first saw earlier this month on the Wi-Fi Alliance certification website. Once again, we don’t have any more details about this phone, other than the fact that it will support LTE.

Realme already has the Realme 5 and the Realme 5s, so the Realme 5i could offer a slight bump in the specification (mostly the SoC), the way the company did with the Realme 3i. Realme could be looking to fill a small price gap or could replace the original Realme 5 with the Realme 5i, just to keep things fresh and relevant.

We should be hearing more about these phones early next year when they will inevitably make their way to India.

Stokes doubtful for Boxing Day Test with father in critical condition

0

Ben Stokes‘ father, Ged, has been admitted to hospital in Johannesburg after suffering a serious illness, the ECB announced on Tuesday (December 24). He remains in a critical condition.

The England all-rounder will miss training at SuperSport Park on Tuesday to be at his father’s bedside and the ECB has requested the media and public respect the family’s privacy. At this stage, Stokes’ participation in the Boxing Day Test remains uncertain.

Ged Stokes, 64, is a former New Zealand rugby league international and successful coach who moved to the UK when Ben was 12 to take up a coaching position with Workington in Cumbria. He is in South Africa to watch the Test series with other members of the Stokes family.

Although such matters put the importance of cricket firmly in perspective, it is nevertheless another complication in England’s preparation for the Test in Centurion, starting in two days’ time.

The squad has already been affected by an illness that ruled Stuart Broad, Jofra Archer, and Jack Leach out of both warm-up matches. Although all three are on the mend, it remains to be seen whether they are considered fit enough to play at SuperSport Park.

Andhra Pradesh Roundup 2019: Most significant happenings in the year

0

As we come to the end of the year 2019 and stepping into 2020, we come up with some big happenings in the state of Andhra Pradesh. It is quite evident.

As we come to the end of the year 2019 and stepping into 2020, we come up with some big happenings in the state of Andhra Pradesh. It is quite evident that there are drastic changes in this year after the general elections, which has changed the country’s prospectus with controversial decisions took by the central government such as revoking Article 370 and Triple Talaq law, and verdict on the Ayodhya.

However, the above mentioned are connected to country’s prospectus, but coming to the Andhra Pradesh, Chandrababu Naidu, who is regarded as the visionary leader has to face the biggest defeat in his life leaving power to the YSRCP headed by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. However, after Jagan chairing as chief minister, he is making his mark in the administration and introducing welfare schemes.

As far as elections are concerned, this time many young leaders forayed into the politics under their parent’s shadows and tested their fates to step into legislature house. However, not many succeeded as the heirs of leaders who seem to be the legends. Going by the statistics, first to notice is former MP JC Diwakar Reddy’s son Pavan Reddy and nephew Ashrith Reddy who has pinned high expectations could not withstand the YSRCP’s storm. However, leaders like Anil Kumar Yadav, Sucharita, Nandigama Suresh, etc. have become the legislatures under the YSRCP’s roof.

It has been a big headache for Chandrababu Naidu as he could not stop the defeat of his son Nara Lokesh in Mangalagiri. The other young leader Pawan Kalyan who owns a party, also could not win an assembly seat being contested in two constituencies. However, post elections, there is a war of words between two parties alleging each other on the various issues be it Grama Sachivalayam recruitment, the introduction of English Medium, Sand scarcity. It remains to be seen how the state prospers in the coming year. Coming to the most alarming issue is the Godavari boat accident. Seventy-eight tourists traveled and as many as more than forty passengers dead in this disaster. The boat immersed in the river was retrieved by Balaji Marine company head Dharmadi Satyam after one month struggle.
