The moment the news broke out that, Pawan Kalyan and Trivikram Srinivas are teaming up, buyers (distributors) from around the state competed to purchase the distribution rights of the film. Naturally, the stardom and fan following of Pawan Kalyan, the reputation of Director Trivikram Srinivas and the Industry hit of ‘Attarintiki Daredi’ which came in the combination of PK-Trivikram shot the price of the theatrical rights to an all-time high. The movie’s theatrical rights were reportedly sold for Rs.95 crores in Telugu states alone. Even the US premiers collected close to $1.2M.

But shockingly, the film opened with mixed reviews, with few even question Trivikram’s credibility as the director. Everyone expected the film to break all Non-Baahubali records. Disappointingly, the film did not live up to its expectations. Be it because of the inspired (copied) story, or poor narration, or whatever, the film remained as any other commercial flick.

Now, the buyers who have shelled large sums for the theatrical rights are left in the middle of the sea. The buyers and distributors are nowhere to be seen in the media, claiming record collections. Trade analysts predict, the loss to be massive, especially in areas regions like Nizam and north-coastal Andhra Pradesh. It is reported, the losses are expected to be around Rs. 75 crores. The buyers are hoping that Pawan Kalyan might come to their rescue, after all, he is the only reason for them to shell out massive sums for the movie.

Film critic Katthi Mahesh who became famous with the reality show Bigg Boss became the talk of the town with his attack on Pawan Kalyan. Given the hostile environment between Katthi Mahesh and Pawan Kalyan, the whole of Tollywood industry has been waiting eagerly for Katthi Mahesh’s review.

Katthi Mahesh reportedly watched the film in Prasad Labs, Banjara Hills today morning at 8:00 am today morning. Post the film’s screening, the film critic did not back-off from expressing what he felt about the movie. His came up with a one-liner on Twitter.

He said, ‘By adding an irritating comedy hand to a serious subject, the director ultimately made a mockery out of the film. This is the biggest disaster in Pawan Kalyan and Trivikram’s career. If you intend to risk yourself by watching the film…. up to you!’

Shockingly, many Twitteratis aligned with Katthi’s views. In the recent past, Katthi Mahesh alleged that Agnyaathavaasi is an ‘unofficial remake’ of a French Film, Largo Winch. It shouldn’t be shocking if the ongoing rage between Katthi Mahesh and Pawan Kalyan extends into 2019!

Power Star Pawan Kalyan and ‘wizard of words’ Trivikram, who previously gave blockbuster hits like Jalsa and Attarintiki Daredi, came up with their third instalment, ‘Agnyaathavaasi’. Various rumours and incidents prior to the film’s release further increased the hype around the film. Be it Katthi Mahesh, Largo Winch, or even Pawan Kalyan’s political stance, all these thrust the film’s craze to sky-high.

Story:

The film’s tag, ‘Prince in Exile’ sums up the story in one line. Govinda Bhargav (Boman Irani) and his son are killed by their rivals, in a bid to take over their company. Little did they know about another heir, Abhishikth Bhargava aka AB (Pawan Kalyan). AB joins in their own company as an employee, in an attempt to find out who killed his father and brother. What is Indrani (Kushboo) to AB? Who killed Govinda Bhargav? Did AB find the culprits? To find, watch the movie on the big screen.

Analysis:

Leaving aside the ‘inspiration’ from Largo Winch, Trivikram falls flat throughout the film. The screenplay and script are run-of-the-mill. The film is clearly a one man’s show, and don’t be surprised to see PK almost in every frame. Though the concept of raising an heir away from the money-ridden world seems striking, Trivikram fails to establish the character development of the heir.

One wonders why the heroines even exist in the first place, given their highly-limited screen presence. The director fails to continue an interesting point, between the two heroines, in which a heroine narrates a problem as if it is her problem to impress the other heroine. The routine slapstick comedy further weakens the script. There is hardly any build-up between the hero and the villain in the movie. All you have is a repetitive story, with heroines’ serving their glamour and irritating slapstick comedy.

Apart from a few trademark dialogues, Trivikram has failed miserably in direction, narration and script work of the movie. Looks like Trivikram has taken the Telugu audience for granted this time.

The only saviour in the film is a couple of comedy scenes, and performance of Pawan Kalyan. The action sequences can be remembered, only if you did not watch Largo Winch. By all means, this is the weakest film in Trivikram’s career, and surely a disappointing one by Pawan standards. Shockingly, it takes more time to remember the character’s names, then their screen time.

Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja has already started shooting his new movie under the direction of Kalyan Krishna in Hyderabad. It is now confirmed officially that Ravi has also signed another project under the direction of Sreenu Vaitla which is funded by Mythri movie makers. The script work of the movie is in its finishing stage.

The latest update about Ravi’s character in his upcoming film is revealed by few inside sources. Ravi Teja will be playing a role of an NRI in this untitled movie. It is a full to full family entertainer. Most of the film’s shooting is going to be directed at US. Director Sreenu Vaitla doesn’t seem to be in any hurry and is taking his good time for a perfect screenplay to entertain audiences with his characteristic comedy scenes in the movie. As per the sources, only the important technical team members are selected and the rest of the team are yet to be finalized.

Looks like the NRI trend is picking up fast, with Pawan Kalyan taking the driver’s seat, the rest are surely catching it up wasting no time and Ravi Teja sending a clear message that he is no way behind in the race.

Pawan Kalyan was seen at Shabdalaya Studio along with his sons and wife Anna Lezhenova for a special show of the film Agnathavasi. His elder son Akira Nandan was also present for the special screening of his father’s movie.

Director Trivikram Srinivas was there too at the Shabdalaya Studio when the special show was organized. The director looked very eager to know what would be the opinion of Pawan’s family members after the screening, especially Akira Nandan’s.

Interestingly Anna Lezhenova and Akira Nandan have given thumbs up for Agnathavasi. They conveyed to director Trivikram that it is a joy watching Powerstar in such a terrific form.

Akira Nandan too loved seeing his father’s overall performance and look in the movie. He complimented the director of the same. Seeing the first reactions from his family members, Pawan is obviously very jubilant and couldn’t ask for anything more.

Though Pawan Kalyan was not available for any comments, Trivikram shared the first opinions of PK’s family members.

It looks like, it doesn’t matter how many theatres are allotted, and the number is not matching to the craze of Agnathavasi. On the flip side, the Nandamuri fans have found out the easiest way.
