Stylish Star vs Super Star! Are both ready for Battle?

‘Bharat Ane Nenu’ starring Mahesh Babu, under the direction of Koratala Siva was initially scheduled for release in Sankranti 2018. With unseen delays, the film’s producer, DVV Danayyapostponed the film’s release to April 27^th. While this news did upset some fans, post the disaster run of Sypder, it raised concerns about the film’s business.

On the other hand, Allu Arjun’s ‘Na Peru Surya… Na Illu India’, under the direction of Vakkantham Vamsi, will be releasing on April 27^th. The release date has been announced a couple of months by the film’s unit.

Whether it is a mere coincidence or by will, both Allu Arjun’s and Mahesh Babu’s movies are scheduled to release on the same day, trying to cash in with the Summer holiday season. The trade analysts feel that both the film’s collection would be badly affected because of the same-day release.

In an age where the opening day the first week collections decide the fame and game of a film at the box office, it certainly seems not a good choice for these films to release on the same day. Even in the past, the producers ensured that at least 1-week gap was between two films of star heroes.

Malayalam Film ‘Villain’ creates a new record! Collects 4.91 Cr on Day 1!

Malayalam superstar, Mohan Lal has played an important and crucial role in the film ‘Villain’. The film is written and directed by B. Unni Krishnan. ‘Villain’ released on 27^th October 2017. The film had its release on 253 screens in Kerala and collected a whopping Rs. 4.91 crores. Tamil star hero Vishal, and heroines Hansika and Rashi Khanna are also the part of the cast of this film. ‘Villain’ marks the entry of these three actors into Malayalam Film Industry.

The film did create a record in all aspects. It is the first time a film had such a huge release all over Kerala and the opening day collections are the highest for any film so far in Kerala. The film is produced by Rockline Venkatesh on his Rockline Entertainments Pvt. Ltd banner. The film’s music is composed by Sushin Syam.

Telugu star hero Srikanth, along with Manju Warrier, ‘The Lady Superstar’ of Malayalam film industry played crucial roles in the film. The film is known to be a crime-thriller with Mohan Lal playing the role of ADGP (Assistant Director General of Police).

‘Villain’ is the first film in India to be shot completely and released in 8K resolution. The film’s Overseas, Hindi dubbing and satellite rights were sold for 2 Crores, 3.5 Crores and 7 Crores respectively, making the highest ever for a Malayalam film. The film is expected to release on 2^nd November in overseas.

The 2.0 Unit spent 15 Crores for Audio Launch Unit!

The upcoming iconic film, 2.0 starring ‘Thalaivar’ Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar and Amy had its audio launch function in Burj Khalifa, Dubai on the evening of 27^th October . The audio launch event reportedly cost 15 Crores. The production cost of the film is expected to be around 450 Crore when added with promotion and other costs would surely be double the budge of Baahubali series films together.

Adding glare to the event, the whole show was hosted by RJ Balaji, Rana Daggubati and Karan Johar who took turns and spoke in three languages to keep the audiences hooked and entertained through the evening. The event was nothing short of a lifetime spectacle.

As guests graced the evening, the film’s technicians from all the 24 crafts shared their experiences while working on the film. Editor Antony surprised everyone by stating that, the film would be the ‘shortest’ ever cut made by Shankar. ‘Usually, Shankar sir’s film crosses the 3-hour mark, but this film is cut at 2 hours 20 mins’.

While the film’s unit already released two songs on various streaming platforms on Friday night, AR Rahman sang the 3^rd song on the evening.

Shankar specially thanked Rajinikanth and the whole team who has made this movie possible. The ace director reiterated that ‘2.0 is not a continuation of Robot. We have incorporated a global message in the film, and the film features few characters from Robot’.

Hero Rajasekhar starrer, ‘Garuda Vega’ is all set to release on November 3 rd worldwide. Recently, the film’s pre-release function took place in Hyderabad. Talking at the event, producing Jeevitha shared few interesting details about the budget of the movie.

‘When the director initially explained the story, we were expected the budget would be around 6 – 7 crores. After the script work has been completed, we felt there is every need to spend 10 crores in order to keep the films’ technical values on par with the film. As the shooting went ahead, the film production touched a staggering INR 25 Crore.

Producers face loss when the film flops. But with high budget films, even if they have a good run, the producers hardly make profits. And if these high budget films become a flop, there is no way a producer can ever recover. With Garuda Vega’s budget being 25 Crores, we still went ahead as we did not want to compromise on any aspect of the film. I have immense faith in the film’s story and script.’

While the trade analysts felt that, Rajasekhar movies don’t have such a huge market, and may not recover the budget even if the movie is a hit. From the outset, it looks as if, Jeevitha has committed herself so much to the film that, it is no-way-out for her from here!
