After the Congress Vice-President, Rahul Gandhi posed three question pertaining to the purchase of 36 Rafael Fighter Aircrafts, he received a strong warning from the Reliance Defence Limited. The Defence Minister and Indian Air Force Chief also responded strongly to Rahul Gandhi’s comments.
Rahul Gandhi in his twitter post alleged that ‘Dear RM (Raksha Mantri, Nirmala Seetharaman), what’s shameful is your boss silencing you’. He put three questions to the Defence Minister.
Reveal the final price of each Rafael Jet
Did the Prime Minister, Modi take the permission of CCS (Cabinet Committee on Security) before announcing the purchase of Rafael Jets in Paris?
Finally, why did the PM choose AA rated businessman with no experience over HAL?
Nirmala Seetharaman responded stating, ‘the price of each Rafael Jet is undoubtedly and absolutely lower than what was negotiated under the UPA Regime. Modi did take the clearance from the CCS with the active participation of Manohar Parrikar, then Defence Minister.
Indian Air Force Chief, BS Dhanoa denied that the Rafael Jets were overpriced. He further made critical comments. ‘The technology may not go to the HAL. But it is going to the DRDO – Defence Research and Development Organization and the people of the nation.’
Even the RDL – Reliance Defence Limited threatened to take legal action against individuals and the party if they try to defame the company by passing defamatory allegation.

The recent IT raids on Sasikala and Co. were expected. But the latest raids on Sasikala are revealing some shocking facts about the ‘Chinnamma’ and her aides. From close sources, it is learnt that Sasikala is controlling property and possessions worth 30,000 Crores. If the raids are to be continued, and further investigation is carried into her disproportionate assets, it is likely that a mammoth of 50,000 crores might be discovered in this operation. One shouldn’t blame Sasikala for all of that money. Though people accept it or not, even the Late CM Jayalalithaa too might be having a major part of the speculated assets.
If the government officers are able to accumulate 350 – 500 crores as black money, it wouldn’t be surprising to see if Chief Ministers managed to accumulate in tens of thousands of crores black money.
From the outset, many people believe that IT raids on Sasikala are nothing but for ‘political gains’. If Modi wants the nation to believe that these IT raids are genuine, then those 10,000 families should also be targeted. A report stated that more than 10,000 families of various political leaders are attached to black money. In a world, were industrialists with debts in thousands of crores flee the nation with ease, it would be a superhuman task for Modi to curb the corrupted.

More than 73.2 crores of Indians still excrete in unsafe or open areas and sometimes use most unhygienic toilets, post the Swachh Bharat launch. It is been three years since the clean India mission came into life.
According to the State of the World’s Toilets 2017’ which is reported by WaterAid, that works on issues relating to sanitation and water, expressed more concern in regard to the situation faced by women. The report says, more than 35.5 crore women and girls are still waiting for a toilet, if they were all to stand in a queue, it would stretch around the earth more than four times.
In the ‘Basic Sanitation Drive’ globally, India is one among the top 10 countries. But still, more than half the population (56%) are still deprived of toilets and basic sanitation according to the latest report.
On 2 October 2014, Swachh Bharat was launched. More than 5.2 crores household’s toilets were built between October 2014 and November 2017.

But hopefully, we get to see our country free of open defecation by 2019 according to claims made by Indian Government.

• Following are the major reasons:
o Less Yield
o Frequent floods
o Drought
o Lack of adequate prices for Agricultural products
Bill Gates questioned Chandrababu over the usage of fertilizers in Andhra Pradesh. Chandrababu states that ‘Our agriculture is greatly dependent on the usage of fertilizer. We are working on ways to reduce the dependency on fertilizers as much as possible. The state saw 15% dip in the usage of fertilizers. The Geological survey department is carrying our wide-spread soil tests so that we can assist the farmer about which crop is more suitable to the soil, climate, and environment of that place. We consider this summit as a ‘first step’ in the developing of Agriculture Industry in Andhra Pradesh and India.’
Both the eminent personalities have agreed upon to worth in tandem for the development of agriculture and farmers. This means that the Andhra Pradesh State Government will be working with the Melinda-Gates Foundation on various fronts.
Chandrababu reminding the ‘ignored’ issues…
Chandrababu further expressed his deep concern over many ‘ignored’ aspects of agricultural industry and the farmers. The AP CM said, ‘everyone is talking about Food Security. But the time has come to talk about the ‘security of the farmer’. We are working towards the ‘immediate disbursal’ of agricultural loans for the farmers. We are striving to create and develop policies that would help the Farmer to establish himself as an important entity in this society. The farmers have been long ignored and were limited to the villages. Things have to change, and we will change them very soon.’
CM Chandrababu further added that ‘The latest technology should reach the farmers. They need to be well-equipped with the technology which will aid them in improving their yield, and be more efficient and productive. Our ultimate aim should be to ‘increase the revenue of each and every farmer in this state and country’.
Bill Gates impressed…
After knowing the latest developments and reforms in the agricultural sector, Bill Gates was highly impressed. Bill Gates has shown immense interest in learning about the transformation of the agricultural industry in the state. Briefing more about the reforms, Chandrababu said:
• Agriculture is key to national food, and nutrients are key towards good health. This is the template which we are implementing in this sector.
• In Andhra Pradesh, a large number of ‘Woman Empowering’ groups work together in carrying out various agricultural methods and practices
• Various ‘Farmers Producers Organizations’ have been established in the state to aid the farmers right from sowing the seed to the production of yield.
Chandrababu takes a dig at the Congress….
‘The state’s agricultural has seen crisis during the last government rule. Various indexes that denoted the progress of Agriculture in the state have seen a tremendous dip. We are currently in the rebuilding stage and are sure that a jump in the indexes will be seen in the coming few years. After our government came to the power, the electricity has moved from Deficit to Surplus,’ said the CM.
Explaining to Bill Gates, ‘we are currently planning to introduce 2nd Generation Electron Reforms in the Electricity and Distribution department. We humbly request you to lead the specific proposals on Agriculture and Rural Innovation in the State.’
Delighted Gates appreciates Chandrababu….
On hearing the description of various reforms and future innovative programs, Gates expressed happiness with Chandrababu. Bill Gates further said, ‘I am really curious about your proposal. I will work out my calendar and schedule to evaluate how much I need to dedicate to your proposal. The ‘Global Agri-Tech Conference’ should be held in Andhra Pradesh annually. The Andhra Pradesh State government should ensure that this conference holds the key to the development of Agricultural Industry in the state, India and the world.’
Final words and research proposal from Bill Gates…
Chandrababu states that ‘We take Happiness as the index for any program that we undertake. Based on the ‘Positive Feedback (from the people) Index’, the targets are determined accordingly. We are also conducting ‘Happy Sundays’ to improve the Happiness Index and consider that ‘Happiness’ of the people is the most important thing for the government.
Later Bill Gates stated that ‘The Gates Foundation will work in tandem with the Andhra Pradesh State Government. We believe that the Gates Foundation should extend its cooperation and support to the AP Government in the fields of Agriculture, Health, Nutritional Assessment, and Sanitation. We are currently working on ‘hybrid’ Toilets. We have realized that treating of human excreta is a major concern. Hence, the ‘Hybrid’ toilets are being developed to ensure that the human wastes are broken and treated by a special mechanism within the toilet itself. In the coming five years, we hope that we will achieve a major breakthrough.’

The Defense Minister and officials frequently visit the border security forces and military officials to get a clear understanding of the security issues from time to time. They also enquire about the wellbeing’s of the soldiers and other security personnel and usually have high regards for them.
In this context, whenever the Defense Minister visits the border forces, they are called as ‘Sir’ with respect. But this time, the Defense Minister of India is Nirmala Seetharaman. Expect for Indira Gandhi, who took charge as the Defense Minister for a short period, mostly it has been male leaders.Nirmala became the first regular female Defense Minister of India.
But this has caused a bit of confusion about the security forces who are habituated to address the Defense minister as ‘Sir’. It is learned that during Nirmala Seetharaman visits the soldiers are getting confused on what to call her. Few have said ‘Jai Hind Mam Sabh,’ while others said ‘Jai Hindi Sir’. To end this confusion, Nirmala Seethraman has taken a decision.
She has advised the Army officers and respective personnel to call her as ‘Defense Minister’ rather than referring her as Sir or Mam Sabh. With the clarity from Nirmala Seetharaman, the Armed forces were out of confusion.

International rating firm Moody upgraded India’s credit rating to Baa2. This is the first time since 2004 that Moody upgraded India’s credit rating. The credit rating represents the worth of Government Bonds and Corporate Bonds on a nation.
The given rating indicates that the nation has enough capacity to meet its financial commitments and requirements. On the same lines, it also raises that the country might fail to meet its financial commitments given adverse economic and political conditions.
After Moody upgraded India’s credit rating, the Sensex and the Stock Markets climbed, while the Rupee was appreciated against the US Dollar.
The BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange) climbed 414 points, while the Rupee registered an appreciation of 69 paise against the US Dollar.
India was stuck with the Baa3 credit rating by Moody from 2004. The Baa3 credit rating of a nation meant that it is risky for foreign investors to invest by buying Corporate and Government Bonds.
Moody also forecasted that India’s credit rating will gain momentum as GST and other financial reforms will reap benefits in the coming few years.
