PM Narendra Modi called for a 9 minute-blackout at 9 PM on April 5th in India

PM Narendra Modi called for a 9 minute-blackout at 9 PM on April 5th in India called for a 9 minute-blackout at 9 PM on April 5th in India to express our unity in fight against the deadly virus, but there seems to be possibility of a major issue during that time. With the sudden turning off the lights, there could be a possible grid collapse resulting blackout throughout the country.

The power sector’ big heads are heard to be penning many strategies in a way to avoid the grid collapse and to maintain the grid stability by keeping the power frequency with a range specified by Central Electricity Regulatory Authority. Any Frequency deviation is maintained by increase and decrease of power flow. A sudden drop or hike in frequency may cause a big collapse ending in blackout across the nation.

The Union Power Minister reportedly discussed the issue and PGCIL expressed confidence in maintaining the grid stability. A planned scheduling of power with all the five Regional Load Despatch Centres and National Load Despatch Centre (NLDC) will be ready to balance the grid frequency during the blackout time.

The officials from Powergrid corporation agree that this is a situation that could disturb the grid frequency balance, but they say it is not critical and operators are very well prepared to handle any sudden drop in power demand.

Earlier, there were major power blackouts in 2012 on July 30 and 31, that affected most of northern andeastern India. An estimated 27 percent of energy generated in 2012, was lost in transmission leading to grid collapse then

The cabinet meeting approved Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s recommendation to introduce the salary challenge to meet the challenges of Covid-19.During 2018 megafloods, the chief minister made a similar appeal and collected around Rs 2000 crores through voluntary donations made by government staff.

Talking about the same, Congress MP Sashi Tharoor tweeted, “Why not simply rename PMNRF as PM-CARES, given the PM’s penchant for catchy acronyms, instead of creating a separate Public Charitable Trust whose rules & expenditure are totally opaque?”, asking Modi to give an explanation to the people of the country.

Another RTI query revealed that PMNRF has almost Rs 3900 crores unspent balance, which is raised by Congress again, asking Modi as to why he has set up this new fund. Also Congress questions why no opposition leaders or other prominent persons from civil society are made trustees of the fund.

Shaheen Bagh Now Suicide Bombers’ Breeding Ground: Minister Giriraj Singh

0

Shaheen Bagh has grown a breeding ground for suicide bombardiers planning upon the nation from the capital city, Union Minister Giriraj Singh stated today, continuing to the hate conversations that have denied the Delhi election campaign.

Shaheen Bagh is not a movement anymore. Suicide bombers are being raised here. A conspiracy is being planned against the country in the country’s capital Giriraj Singh tweeted in Hindi on Shaheen Bagh, the heart of protests against the citizenship law CAA.

Giriraj Singh, the Union Minister for Animal Husbandry and Fisheries is notorious for his incendiary speeches, for which he has mostly gone unpunished.

A multitude of BJP leaders, including Home Minister Amit Shah, have targeted the Shaheen Bagh protest in a deeply polarizing campaign for the Saturday Delhi election.

Since December 18, hundreds of men, women, and children have sat on protest on the road at Shaheen Bagh in south Delhi, against the religion-based Citizenship (Amendment) Act or CAA, which enables non-Muslims from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan to become Indian citizens if they escaped religious persecution and entered India before 2015.

The government has been accused by critics of subverting the constitutional principle of secularism and discriminating against Muslims by bringing in the CAA.

The BJP has accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of providing active support to the Shaheen Bagh protesters.

The ruling party’s campaign pitch has circled around Shaheen Bagh and the narrative that the protesters are “anti-national” and have blocked a key road, inconveniencing thousands of commuters.

Last week, Amit Shah had said at a Delhi rally that people should press the button on the Electronic Voting Machine with “such anger that the protesters in Shaheen Bagh feel the current”.

PM Modi said the Uttar Pradesh government had granted to return the land in Ayodhya to the Waqf Board.

Centre Declines To Intervene In CM Jagan’s 3-Capitals Plan

0

The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy’s plan for a three-city capital, the Centre categorically said in parliament today that it is the state’s privilege to compromise on a city. In reply to a topic from TDP MP Jayadev Galla, Union Minister Nityanand Rai said, “It is for each state to decide on the capital within its territory”.

Chandrababu Naidu had plunged Amaravati as the latest futuristic capital of the Andhra Pradesh. Vehemently upon the three-city plan, it had directed the Central Government whether it was conscious of Mr. Reddy’s plan and would advise the state government not to resort to such decisions.

The three-city plan, the parliamentarian from Guntur had claimed in his question, would “not only vitiate the investment climate but will also be a great loss to thousands of farmers who have given their land for construction of new capital Amaravati”. He had also asked how the three-city plan was “likely to help the state and its people”.

In a written reply that ruled out any intervention by the Centre, Mr. Rai said that Recently media reports have appeared indicating the State Government’s decision to create three capitals for the State of Andhra Pradesh.

Amaravati was notified as to the capital of Andhra Pradesh in April 2015. Recently, the state government passed a bill, repealing an Act from when Chandrababu Naidu was chief minister, detailing plans to build a futuristic capital at Amaravati.

A separate bill, the “Decentralised Governance, and Inclusive Development Bill”, was also passed in the state assembly that mentioned three capitals — an executive capital at Vizag, a legislative capital at Amaravati and a judicial capital at Kurnool — covering the three geographical regions of the state.

The committee mentioned the subject to a picked committee. But meanwhile, the state government decided to dissolve the legislative council, saying it was being used politically by the Telugu Desam Party and that it was a burden on the state’s resources.

In reply to another question from Telugu Desam MP from Vijayawada Kesineni Srinivas, asking if the Central government had taken cognizance of the “mass public protests in Andhra Pradesh” regarding a capital at Amaravati and also asked about alleged police brutality. Protests have been on for several weeks in some villages around Amaravati, opposing the shifting of the capital city to Visakhapatnam.

He also questioned if the state government had acquainted the Central Government regarding it and whether the Central government proposed any invasion.

Replying to these questions, Nityanand Rai clarified that law and order is a state subject and the Centre monitors and sends forces if requested for by the state. He also explained that they got no description for the state and were not proposing any interference.
