Fortified rice contains essential micronutrients such as Vitamin B-1, Vitamin B-6, Vitamin E, Niacin, Iron, Zinc, Folic Acid, Vitamin B-12, and Vitamin A. It can help address various health issues, including anemia, prevalent among the population.

The state of Uttar Pradesh in India is preparing to host the country’s inaugural MotoGP racing event at the Buddha International Circuit in Greater Noida on September 22 and 23. The event will be broadcasted worldwide through various media platforms, allowing audiences from around the globe to witness the thrilling bike racing championship. The introduction of MotoGP to Uttar Pradesh is expected to enhance the state’s reputation as a leading destination and contribute to the development of its brand image. This marks a significant return of high-profile motorsport events to India since the departure of Formula 1 in 2013.

India’s first Grand Prix (GP) motorcycle racing event

The decision to organize the racing event came after the Chief Executive Officer of Drona Sports, Carmelo Ezpeleta, who holds the commercial rights of MotoGP, met with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur a few months ago. During the meeting, Yogi Adityanath assured support for the event, leading to the initiation of preparations for India’s first Grand Prix (GP) motorcycle racing event. Representatives from MotoGP visited India last year to sign a seven-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian race promoters Fairstreet Sports (FSS), who hold the rights for MotoGP in India.

Navneet Sehgal, the Additional Chief Secretary (Sports), stated that the international racing event will strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s global recognition as a modern and progressive state, benefiting the hospitality and tourism sectors. The presence of numerous global brands at the event is expected to attract investors, showcasing the potential and opportunities available in Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, during the event, guests from around the world will receive ODOP (One District, One Product) gift hampers, promoting the state government’s ambitious scheme and further branding its initiatives.

Direct tax collection rises 11% to Rs 3,79,760 crore

Increase of 11% in direct tax revenue

Direct tax collections for 2023-24, as on June 17, stood at Rs 3,79,760 crore, compared to Rs 3,41,568 crore in the corresponding period of the last fiscal, representing an increase of 11.18 per cent. The net direct tax collection of Rs 3,79,760 crore included corporation tax (CIT) at Rs 1,56,949 crore (net of refund) and personal income tax (PIT) including securities transaction tax (STT) at Rs 2,22,196 crore (net of refund).

The gross collection of direct taxes (before adjusting for refunds) for 2023-24 stands at Rs 4,19,338 crore as compared to Rs 3,71,982 crore in the corresponding period of last fiscal, registering a growth of 12.73 per cent over collections of 2022-23.

The advance tax collections for the first quarter of 2023-24 stand at Rs 1,16,776 crore as on June 17, against advance tax collections of Rs 1,02,707 crore for the corresponding period of the immediately preceding fiscal i.e. 2022-23, showing a growth of 13.70 per cent.
