210 Dead, 1700 injured after 7.3 Earthquake in Iraq

A massive 7.3 magnitude earthquake hit the city of Halabja in Iraq at 11:48 pm on 12th November 2017. According to the official sources, 210 people have lost their lives and nearly 1700 people were injured. The death toll is likely to increase with the rescue operations underway. The earthquake centered 31 kilometers from Halabja.

The city of Halabja is located along the Iraq-Iran border. Most of the people in this region live in houses made of mud bricks which easily crumble under little force. ‘Any earthquake above 7.0 can be devastating and it takes nearly 2 years for the people to recover from its damage’ said an official.

Unfortunately, the main hospital in the area was also severely damaged due to the earthquake. As a result, hundreds of victims who were brought to the hospital by the authorities were not treated.

Earthquake in IraqThe Iranian agencies also informed that more than 50 aftershocks were felt after the earthquakes. Electricity was cut-off in several Iraq and Iranian cities along the border. People of both the nations lying in the earthquake affected were seen on the streets.

The Iranian Red Crescent said that more than 70,000 people needed immediate shelters. The Iranian officials have confirmed that the oil refineries and pipelines in this region remained unaffected.

Going by the reports a 44-year-old woman named Patricia Spann has reportedly married her children.

Initially, in the year 2008, Patricia Spann married her son who was 18 at that time. The marriage reportedly sustained for a year. The son had filed for ‘annulment’ in the court after several issues cropped in the marital life of mom and son. After the police were informed about the woman marrying her own Kin, the police have taken mother and daughter into custody. The women appeared in a court hearing on Tuesday. Going by the case, the judge had initially sentenced the mother and daughter for 10years. After Misty Spann pleaded for guilty sating that it was her mother who took the advantage and induced her marriage, the judge had placed Spann under 2 years of supervision before implementing the 10years sentence.

This kind of incidents clearly illustrate the current moral and ethics among humans.

The murder of Pradhyumn, an 8-year-old studying Grade 2 in Ryan International School has raised concerns on the ever-increasing ‘criminal activity’ in the children’s mind. The Grade 11 student who murdered Pradhyumn is under the CBI’s custody. During the investigation, the 16-year-old student has revealed some spine-chilling truths.

‘This murder has been planned. The student searched for various kinds of toxic substances that are used to kill. He has also searched ways to erase details of fingerprints from the knife. The student purchased the knife just before the day of committing murder. His phone and laptop searches clearly showed his intentions to kill someone,’ said a CBI official.

Adding to it, ‘the case is currently being investigated. The investigation procedure is at a sensitive stage. We cannot further comment on this. Easy access to the internet and other technological advances are indirectly responsible for the increase in crime rate among children. The student is currently in the Juvenile Home’, said the CBI officials.

Psychologists expressed that, ‘The student has played a lot of video games that portrayed killing and violence. The student came to a mindset that, killing someone and escaping from the eyes of the justice is considered as heroism.’

Her recent film ‘Padmavathi’ has gathered enough controversies even before its release. After the Karni Sena, it is the turn of the Mewar Royal Family to join the agitations against the release of the Sanjay Lelaa Bhansali Film ‘Padmavathi’.

‘Sanjay Leela Bhansali who stated that he has done extensive research for the film never approached us. He is clearly trying to misrepresent the Hindu Culture and Indian nation,’ said MK Viswaraj Singh, a royal descendant of Mewar family.

MK Viswaraj also said that ‘It is highly unacceptable if someone tries to misrepresent our rich cultural heritage and history.’

He has written letters to PM Narendra Modi, CBFC Chairman, Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani, Human Resources and Development Minister Javadekar and Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje Scindia requesting them to take immediate action against Sanjay Leela Bhansali and stall the film’s release.

It is feared by the Royal community that Bhansali who is known for his secular ideologies will depict the might of Sultans rather than Rajputs in the film and especially in the scenes involving Rani Padmini and Allauddin Khilji.The film is scheduled for release on 1st December. The film is being produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali on Bhansali Productions at an estimated budget of Rs. 200 crores.

With the pollution levels reaching an all-time high in New Delhi, the AAP government introduced the odd-even scheme. But now it looks like the Delhi government is forced to go back on the Odd-Even scheme, thanks to the pathetic public transport system.

The Delhi High Court mandated in the past that, New Delhi should be equipped with 11,000 buses against the current 5,425 buses. With two-wheelers also included in the Odd-Even scheme, the public transport system is not able to handle the extra 3.3 million two-wheeler riders.

‘The Delhi government spends thousands of crores on Metro projects, while it is least bothered about the general bus transport in the city. It costs roughly 45 lakhs for a standard bus, while it costs 450 Crores for 1 kilometer of Metro Line,’ said Shreya Gadepalli, South Asia director of ITDP – Institute for Transport and Development Policy.Delhi government goes back on Odd-Even Scheme!

‘The DTC might cease its operating by 2025, as 99% of its bus fleet will be over the 12-year operational limit of 7.5 lakh kilometers, whichever is later’said an official.

A bench headed by the Justice Swatanter (NGT Chairperson) passed remarks on the Delhi government for the lack of proper maintenance of the DTC buses. ‘Your buses make a lot of noise on the roads. Most parts of your buses either hang in the air or broken. They create a nuisance for everyone on the road,’ stated the bench.

In what is suspected to be one of the largest grave discoveries post the Globalization era, nearly 400 victims of Islamic State were found in Hawija, northern Iraq.

The Iraqi forces managed to drive away the militant group from Hawija – located 240 km from Bagdad, during its military operation in October.

The city of Hawija has been under control of ISIS militant group since 2014. ‘The militants have turned the city into execution ground. Most of the graves are within the radius of 3 km from the city, and the dead bodies of the deceased were either in prisoner’s uniform or in civilian uniform,’ an official said.

400 dead bodies found in a graveThese mass graves came to light after the locals informed the Iraqi military group. An eyewitness said, ‘during the three years of IS control, the prisoners are often taken in the cars. IS militants used to shoot them and then throw them from the moving car.’

These mass executions by the IS militants clearly depict the state and conditions in which the surviving locals might have lived.

It’s the year 1993. A Telugu film called ‘Bava Bavamaridi’ released just like any other regular film. But one song from that movie is still ringing in the ears of Telugu audience. The song ‘Bavalu Sayya’ featuring silk Smitha who was the heartthrob back then has been a blockbuster. It is still played at marriage festivals and other functions. Radhika Thilak, who sang the song has become immensely popular for her husky tone.

Radhika Thilak was born in 1960, in Tirupathi. She has sung songs across in all languages in the South Film Industry. She is famous for her unique voice and singing ability. After getting married, the singer resided in Chennai along with her family. Many directors wanted her to sing at least one song in their films. She has been away from her Singing professions from 2004.

Nara Rohit and Regina Casandra are playing the lead roles in the film.

Nara Rohit has been stating right from the beginning that this film would feature him completely differently. The film’s trailer has been launch at the audio function. The film was graced by Samantha as the chief guest, while Sai Dharam Tej, Rashi Khanna, Naga Shourya, VennelaKishore were among others who graced the event.

From the trailer, it is very clear that the director has chosen a conventional script and is likely to deliver a complete commercial mass movie. It looks like the director is aiming to narrate a serious action film through a simple and pleasing screenplay. Comedian Prudhvi, Srinivas Reddy, Praveen along with other comedians will definitely fill the movie with enough giggles and laughs. If the director manages to narrate the ‘action film’ with entertainment and without any drag, the film might fare well at the box office.

Currently, the film is in post-production work. The trailer has raised expectations on Nara Rohit, who for the first time is doing a pure commercial flick. The film is scheduled to release on November 24th. One has to wait and see whether the film would give a much-needed break for both Nara Rohit and Regina.

Akhil Akkineni is currently shooting for his upcoming film ‘Hello’. The film is being directed by director Vikram Kumar, who is famous for his unique films like 24 and 13B. The director has previously worked with Akkineni family for the film ‘Manam’ that featured heroes of 3 generations on the same screen. Even before any promotion, a lot of hype has been built around ‘Hello’. The film is being produced by Akkineni Nagarjuna.

As per the initial script, Nagarjuna was to be seen playing a guest role. After the changes to the script, the team decided to limit Nagarjuna for voice over. The production unit has confirmed that Nagarjuna will introduce both the hero and heroine characters in the film.

Superstar Mahesh Babu is involved in a fight. Mahesh Babu is currently in Europe participating in shooting for an ad film. Post the ad-shoot, the superstar will join the ‘Bharat Ane Nenu’ team crew in Pollachi. Koratala Siva is directing the film. It is already known that Mahesh will be playing the role of the Chief Minister, while Posani Krishna Murali will be seen as the leader of the opposition party. Character artists Brahmaji will be Mahesh’s secretary in the film.

Going into the details, the audience will see Mahesh Babu in an exciting and thrilling fight sequence that would take place with Holi Festival as a backdrop. The fight sequence is expected to be one of the key scenes in the film. Recently the film unit has finished picturizing CM cabinet scenes in a set erected in Hyderabad. A still has also leaked from the film. DVV Danayya, the producer of the film stated that the film is scheduled for release on April 27th, 2018.

Kiara Advani will be starring opposite Mahesh Babu as the heroine. Rock-star Devi Sri Prasad is the music director for the film and cinematography is being handled by Ravi K. Chandran.
