Form the past couple of months, social media has been quite active about Venkatesh and Teja movie. Even Teja has been keen on making a film with Venkatesh from a long time. But the senior star hero put the Teja on hold, given the director’s track record. After Teja’s successful outing with ‘Nene Raju, Nene Mantri’, the director Teja received a call back from Venkatesh. Incidentally, Teja received a call from Balakrishna, asking him to direct the biopic on Teja.

Teja planned to complete his film with Venkatesh in 3 months and completely focus on Balakrishna’s NTR movie. In the current times, a film is likely to end as a disaster, if the director is in a hurry to complete it in 3 months. Realizing the same, Venkatesh reportedly advised Teja to take 6 months’ for the completion of the film.

If Teja chooses to spend 6 months on Venkatesh’s film, there will be a definite class with the shooting schedule of Balakrishna’s NTR film. in this context, Teja put forth a proposal with Venkatesh that, he will only do the film if it is for three months. Therefore, this made Venkatesh cancel the movie, and go ahead with Puri Jagannadh for his next film.Puri Jagannadh is currently busy directing (and producing) the film ‘Mehbooba’. His son, Akash Puri, will be playing the lead role in the film.

The film failed to cross the $1 Million mark, disappointing Nandamuri fans and trade experts. It was really humiliating to see a star hero’s film failing to breach the $1 Million mark in the US. What’s more shocking is that Jai Simha overseas collections did not even cross Rs. 1 crore share. In fact, Balakrishna’s ‘Gautamiputra Satakarni’ grossed over a million in the US. The film’s success, in particular, can be attributed to director Krish and the historical theme of the movie.

Similarly, the movie ‘Mahanati’, depicting the life of Savithri is under production. Nag Ashwin is the directing the movie, with Keerthi Suresh as Savithri. Ashwini Dutt is producing the movie on Vyjayanthi Movies banner. The film will be a bilingual, Telugu and Tamil, releasing on 29th March 2018. Anushka’s Bhaagamathie is all set to release this Republic Day, 26th of January. ‘Pilla Zamindar’ fame, Ashok is directing the multilingual (Telugu – Tamil) thriller film. Bhaagamathie turns out to be the third biggest movie for release this year. In fact, previous two big-ticket movies that released for Sankranti, Agnyaathavaasi and Jai Simha, failed to impress the Telugu audience. The producers are hoping that Bhaagamathie will stand out as the first blockbuster of the new year.

The film is bankrolled by Vamsi and Pramod, on UV Creations banner. Along with Bhaagamathie, Manchu Vishnu’s ‘Achari America Yatra’, and Ravi Teja’s ‘Touch Chesi Chudu’ were slated to release on the same day. Incidentally, many small-budget films were also on the way. But shockingly, whatever might be the reason, these films are not likely to release on the same day.

‘Touch Chesi Chudu’ will be released on February 2nd, while small-budget movies are likely to find some other dates in the next month. However, it was thought that Manchu Vishnu would come in competition for Anushka’s Bhaagamathie. But now, even Manchu Vishnu’s film will not be releasing for Republic Day.

Therefore, Bhaagamathie will eventually be the sole showstopper for the Republic Day at the Telugu box-office. No wonder, Anushka’s Bhaagamathie release is scaring everyone even before its release.

It came as a shock to trade analysts with Nagarjuna agreeing to do a feature film with Ram Gopal Varma. Akkineni Nagarjuna and director Ram Gopal Varma came together after more than two-decades for a yet-to-be-titled movie. In fact, the RGV Nagarjuna new movie has completed its shooting first schedule in Hyderabad.

After canning some action sequences on Nagarjuna, the location has moved to Mumbai. The second schedule will be a two-week shoot involving the principal cast. Tollywood is quite busy these days selling its mediocre content to the US. The movies solely depend on the premier collections, rather than its full-run collections. In fact, the same is the case with Bollywood and other regional cinemas overseas. Nevertheless, there are exceptions in this list too. If Baahubali franchise is an exception from Tollywood, Amir Khan’s movies are an exception from Bollywood. Secret Superstar collections in China are an example of Amir Khan’s dominance at the international level.

Though Baahubali 2 opened in as many as 6000 theatres in contrast to Dangal, that opened in 90,000 screens in China. Secret Superstar movies had a decent run at the box office. Given its hybrid teen drama, the film grossed Rs. 122 crores in its worldwide theatrical release at the end of its fourth weekend. The film grossed Rs. 83 crores in India at the same time.

The film collected a whopping Rs. 110 crores in 2 days, and Rs. 175 crores in 3 days, surpassing its full-run collections in India. Secret Superstar collections are likely to shoot up in the coming days after the film received excellent reviews upon its release. Secret Superstar is produced by Amir Khan and Kiran Rao. The film’s theme strongly reflects on domestic violence and feminism.

A budget of Rs. 25 crores for Varun Tej movie is allocated. This will be the first science fiction flick, of its kind in Tollywood. The movie is written and directed by Sankalp, who previously made ‘The Ghazi Attack with Daggubati Rana last year.

 ‘The Ghazi Attack’ is a story of India – Pakistan war film written and directed by Sankalp Reddy. Astonishingly, the war film was made on a sleek budget of Rs. 15 crores, thanks to the extensive and detailed pre-production work by the director. Moreover, the film went on to rake Rs. 35.53 crores at the box-office, making it a commercially successful film.

In fact, a science fiction film by even Indian standards could eventually cost a minimum of Rs. 50 crores. However, Sankalp’s perfect pre-production plan came to the rescue. Therefore, the film is likely to be made on Rs. 25 crores, which brought producers on board pretty quickly. The production team and the director are confident that, just like ‘The Ghazi Attack’, even the sci-fi movie with Varun Tej will rake huge collections at the box office.

Varun Tej is currently busy with the promotions of his upcoming movie, Toliprema, slated to release on February 9th, 2018. We have to wait and see whether Rs. 25 crores for Varun Tej sci-fi flick are really worth or not!
