Once star comedian, Sunil became a hero with the movie ‘Andala Ramudu’. After that moderate success of that film, he starred in SS Rajamouli directorial ‘Maryada Ramanna’ which went on to become a super hit at the box office. Post that, Sunil settled as a full-time hero. Since then he has been only doing films as the main lead.

The star comedian-turned-hero has seen more failures than success. His recent film, ‘2 Countries’ in which he played the lead role, with Manisha Raj as the heroine failed at the box office. Many film critics have lashed out at him stating that, he is unit in films as hero and he should concentrate on supporting character roles.

In the past, Sunil was seen with a 6-pack and a well-toned body. In this film, he looks like the comedian whom we know. With tummy, and excessive fat easily visible, many people are thinking that Sunil would be his best, comedy roles.

Close sources to Sunil also stated that he would be doing any films as hero, and will stick to his original comic character roles.

Megastar Chiranjeevi’s SyeRaa Narasimha Reddy started rolling on 6TH December, after a long delay. Surender Reddy took the responsibility to direct the movie. Top technicians along with actors are roped in for the film. Though the initial shooting dates have been fixed to start in the month of August itself, due to delay in post-production work, the commencement of movie too delayed. For the female lead, Nayantara had been roped into the film.

Now information comes out, that the actress has been finding it difficult to adjust her dates after the schedules of SyeRaa have been pushed ahead. The producers of the movie are in talks with the actress and are asking her to join the next schedule which will be commencing from January 2018. But the actress has been occupied with other projects which are making it difficult for her to join the SyeRaa sets.

Now gossips are making rounds that the makers are even hunting for a replacement for Nayantara if she cannot make it for next schedule. Earlier, technicians AR Rehman and Ravi Varman too walked out of SyeRaa. Replacement for Rehman is still pending.

Financed by the Konidela Production Company, SyeRaa will hit the screens during early 2019. Megastar Chiranjeevi will reinterpret the role of freedom fighter Uyyalavada Narasimha Reddy in the film.

As part of Prime minister’s Swach Abhiyaan program, lots of film personalities were selected as Swach Bharath brand ambassadors. Mega Star Amitabh Bachchan is one among them. In an event conducted at Versova beach in Mumbai, he participated in the cleaning program. Apparently, he had gifted an excavator and a tractor for the environmentalist Shah to smoothen the process of cleaning the beach.

On Thursday, Amitabh attended the event, where a lot of photographs were taken which were posted on the social media. Amitabh Bachchan told that it was a very satisfying experience that he gifted something like a tractor which he considered very noble.

Shah is the man who received the gift shared the photos and added that it was a gift from a dear friend. “Our dear Bachchan sir, gifted a jungli excavator and tractor. Today the engines were fixed by him. Love and love and love for holding our hand’s tights. Sir, you are a torch of light in this fight to beat pollution”. Shah tweeted.There were other celebrities like Manchu Lakshmi, Anushka Sharma and Diya Mirza who came in support for this noble cause in the past for such programs conducted.

2 Countries Movie Review

Comedian-Turned-Hero Sunil is having a bad time in the past few years. Excluding the SS Rajamouli directorial ‘Maryada Ramanna’, Sunil had seen a decent success with the films Bhimavaram Bullodu and Poola Rangadu. But his last three films were nothing short of disasters at the box office. His latest film ‘2 Countries’ released today amid decent expectations. Let us take a look whether the film fared well at the box office or not!

Story:

Ullas Kumar (Sunil) is happy-go-lucky in his village. Ullas keeps himself away from any kind of work. He is simply an aimless and ambitionless procrastinator (someone who postpones things). The only aim he has in his life is to make quick bucks without putting any hard work. He leads his life bluffing people and deceiving them for financial gains. During this, he bumps into his childhood friend, Laya. They both fall in love with each other and get married. Even Ullas sees this as an opportunity to enter into the US and married Laya.

Later, Laya comes to know about the true motives of Ullas. During this time, even Ullas comes to know some bitter truths in Laya’s life. The rest of the story is, what are the bitter truths in Laya’s life? Did Ullas take the responsibility? How did their marriage go ahead?

Analysis:

It is definite let down from Sunil on all fronts. Right from his choice of script, to his performance, the star comedian-turned-hero has miserably failed. Sunil lost his Midas touch, let it be his comic timing or dialogue delivery. The heroine, Manisha Raj is far from cry. We hardly find any life in her character. The screenplay and narration are mediocre. Despite being a remake film, the director has miserably failed to engage the audience throughout the movie.

The Telugu remake nowhere matches the Malayalam version with the same name, ‘Two Countries’. Though the film is promoted as a comedy and drama movie, there is hardly any laughter in the movie. Though the film had great scope for emotional drama, the director utterly failed at it. Shankar failed to get the right timing and move at critical nodes in the film.

The supporting cast fared decently well, and the director failed to make the best use of them. The only breathers in the film are the glamour of Manisha Raj and Cinematography by Ram Prasad in bits and pieces. Gopi Sunder’s music feels routine. BGM towards the climax does impress the audience a bit. Production values are decent, while the editing feels kind-of messy.

During the fans meet in Chennai, Rajini asked all his fans not to touch his feet and asked them to take care of their parents properly. Immediately after making such statements, the superstar has received a request from Kathiresan who incidentally happen to move the high court claiming Dhanush to be their son.

Kathiresan claimed in front of the court that Rajini knew about Dhanush as their son, and also wrote a letter to Rajinikanth asking him to send Dhanush to his home. He said, “My wife is undergoing treatment in the hospital, send Dhanush to our home to take care of us,” he appealed.

Everyone is keenly following this news, as Rajini is going to announce his political stance on 31 st December this year. Kathiresan’s claims are interesting as he declared that Rajini is completely aware of Dhanush as their son. He said Rajini should intervene and send their son.We have to wait and watch how Rajinikanth or Dhanush going to react to this appeal made by Kathiresan. Will he ignore it or will he respond? Earlier too, Dhanush got a stay and later the case was closed.

MCA Movie collections are double

Nani’s MCA – Middle Class Abbayi was made on a budget of Rs. 20 crores according to few sources in the industry. While much-hyped Akhil’s ‘Hello’ movie was made on a budget of Rs. 40 crores. Both the films have released a one-day difference. Nani’s MCA released on 21st December and Akhil’s ‘Hello’ released on 22nd December.

Just before the release of Nani’s MCA, trade analysts predicted that there has been a swing in momentum towards Akhil’s hello, and Nani’s film would be affected to a certain extent.

It’s been a week since both the films have released. Collection trends show that Nani has outclassed Akhil by a large margin. Though it is unfair to compare the stardom of both the heroes, it is fair to compare both the films, given their hype.

Nani who was racing with 7 hits, continued his streak with MCA. While Akhil who had seen a disaster with his first film ‘Akhil’, is feeling slightly better after ‘Hello’ received mixed to decent reviews.

Nani’s MCA collected over 55+ crores and a share of 29+ crores, meanwhile Akhil’s ‘HELLO’ only collected 26.5+ crores and a share of 11 Crores after the first week.

Even Balakrishna faced the same situation for his latest film ‘Jai Simha’. After many heroines rejected to act in the film, the director had no other choice except to cast hardly known faces like Natasha and Hari Priya.

Young director, Maruthi is known for his unique titles, and concepts. He came up with titles like ‘Bhale Bhale Magadivoi’, ‘Mahanubhavudu’ in the past. These films became super hits at the box office. The versatile director has recently started a film starring Akkineni Naga Chaitanya. The film is titled ‘Sailaja Reddy Alludu’.

The production unit of ‘Sailaja Reddy Alludu’ released an official statement that the film will go onto sets from January 2018. Naga Chaitanya is currently busy with the film ‘Savyasachi’, under the direction of Chandoo Mondeti. Which means, Naga Chaitanya will take part in both the shoots simultaneously.

Reliable sources from the film circles have confirmed that Naga Chaitanya will be seen as a ‘highly selfish’ individual in ‘Sailaja Reddy Alludu’. In the past, Director Maruthi has shown Nani as a memory loss patient in ‘Bhale Bhale Magadivoi’, while Sharwanand was shown as someone who strives for too much cleanliness in ‘Mahanubhavudu’.

Interestingly, given the characterization of Naga Chaitanya in the film, film experts feel that the Akkineni hero will be playing a slightly negative shade role in the movie. Naga Chaitanya’s role in 100% too had few traces of negative shade. It is also learnt that Director Maruthi will come up with an official statement regarding who is playing the role of Naga Chaitanya’s mother-in-law and the heroine in the film.
