Rohit Sharma-Less India Look To Continue Winning Momentum In NZ

0

India, after beating New Zealand 5-0 in the shortest format, will look to carry on the momentum in the three-match One-day International (ODI) series, which begins on February 5, but this time without the considerable presence of Rohit Sharma, who limped out of the 5th and final T20 International between the two teams on Sunday with a calf injury. It consequently seized him out of the ODI series.

However, a dominant India would still be favorites, even as the hosts would be aiming to start afresh and improve their performance and return to winning ways. However, the hosts’ bid to bounce back from the T20I series drubbing suffered a big blow with skipper Kane Williamson ruled out of the opening two matches.

Team physio Vijay Vallabh said Williamson was struggling to shrug off a shoulder injury that kept him out of the final two T20 fixtures.

He said Williamson would definitely miss the opening two ODIs but hoped to return for the third and final match of the series in Mount Maunganui next week.

he said Kane has had an X-ray scan which cleared him of anything serious, but it’s best for his recovery that he avoids aggravating the joint for the next few days.

Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja who didn’t play in the last two T20Is against New Zealand will most likely return to the playing XI.

Also, it will be interesting to see who among Yuzvendra Chahal or Kuldeep Yadav will be India’s first-choice leg-spinner in the format.

In the last ODI series against Australia, Kuldeep played all three games with Chahal warming the bench, while Chahal featured in all five matches of the just-concluded T20I series.

India will acquire a lot of determination from their last tour when they beat New Zealand 4-1 in the ODI series just before the World Cup 2019.

New Zealand captain Williamson will be seeming to improve things this season throughout and stimulate the strong Indian side.

However, just before the ODI series the hosts were handed a huge blow as their fast-bowling trio of Trent Boult, Lockie Ferguson and Matt Henry were all ruled out from all three fixtures.

Boult, Ferguson, and Henry all sustained injuries and have not been capable to improve on-time which has bequeathed them with limited opportunities.

Boult is out due to broken hand, while Ferguson and Henry are out with calf strain and broken thumb respectively.
This will be New Zealand’s first ODI match since the World Cup 2019 final where they lost to England on boundary count rule.

Coronavirus: Mass Cancellation Of Hotel Bookings In Kerala, Says Minister

0

A time after the Kerala government announced the unique coronavirus as a “state distress”, Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran today stated the disease explosion had started hitting the tourism area as hotel bookings have experienced bulk abandonment.

Three students, including a woman, from the state who studied at Wuhan University in China, had tested accurately for the virus.

The negative propaganda during the time of Nipah had cost the tourism industry dearly, the minister noted.

Mr. Surendran said The identical point is occurring now as articles of Coronavirus revolution grew up. This time, the influence is more critical… As soon as the stories came, all the hotel bookings for February-March months, which were all packed, have been withdrawn.

Compelling media to exercise self-restraint through the time of disasters and keep themselves away from fear-mongering, the minister stated going up upon issues exceeding relationship was mostly affecting the tourism industry.

Williamson ruled out of first two India ODIs; Latham to lead

0

New Zealand ached a stroke ahead of the ODI series versus India after star man and captain Kane Williamson were ruled out of the two games of the series with an arm injury. In Williamson’s inadequacy, wicketkeeper-batsman Tom Latham will lead New Zealand with Mark Chapman convened up to the team to substitute the 29-year-old.

Williamson first injured his arm in the third T20I versus India in the just-concluded series and didn’t emphasize in the final two matches. Even though the x-rays exposed nothing severe, the team administration has opted for a careful strategy with a Test series to regard as well. However, New Zealand is confident that the captain will be back to manage the side in the final ODI on February 11 in Mount Maunganui.

The injury provides Chapman an opportunity to make a comeback into the national side with the 22-year-old having last played an ODI almost two years ago. Chapman comes in on a fine run of form, having recently scored centuries against India A in the third unofficial ODI and in the first four-day game. Both those hundreds came in at No.6 which will provide New Zealand a reliable option down the order.

The first ODI is scheduled to be played on February 5 in Hamilton and the Test series will commence from February 21. India whitewashed New Zealand 5-0 in the T20I leg of the tour.

East Godavari: Gas Leakage in Uppudi Continues

0

The gas leakage at Katrenikona of Uppudi in East Godavari has not yet come below restraint for the third continuous day. On the other hand, it is stated that the gas leakage is correlated with a loud sound on Tuesday morning generating fear in the villagers. The ONGC Boauch Control has stepped in to restrain the gas leakage. A team from Mumbai examined the venue and made scant instructions. The engineers have pushed the Debris from the gas well and begun the task of locating the leaking valve. Earlier, the fire hazard management teams have failed to control the gas leakage with the Water Umbrella; hence the Mumbai experts are called on for the operations. ONGC officials are trying to send the mud-filled with chemicals substance through the valve from which the gas is leaking. Chemical dispatching vehicles arrived at the scene, and two large pump sets for water pumping are set up.

Maxwell returns to limited-overs squads for South Africa tour

0

Australia allrounder Glenn Maxwell has been named in the Australia ODI and T20I squad for the South Africa tour that begins later this month. At the end of last year, Maxwell had taken an indefinite break from international cricket following mental health difficulties and hasn’t played for Australia ever since.

However, the 31-year-old led Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League and was also named by Cricket Australia as the captain of the team of the tournament. Maxwell had a fantastic tournament with both bat and ball, scoring 389 runs and picking up eight wickets. He has potentially two more matches now to add to that tally.

National Selector Trevor Hohns said that It is fantastic to have Glenn back in both squads given his brilliant form in the middle order for the Stars along with his results with the ball.

He also said that Glenn was one of the first picked in the most recent T20 team at the start of the summer, prior to his break from the game.

While Ashton Turner makes way for Maxwell from the squad toured India recently, the selectors have also included wicketkeeper-batsman Matthew Wade and allrounder Mitchell Marsh in place of Peter Handscomb and D’Arcy Short in the 14-man squad. Mitchell Marsh also reverts to the T20I squad beside all rounder and pacer Richardson.

Marsh finished as Perth Scorchers’ leading run-getter with 382 runs at a strike-rate of 145 whereas Wade managed to impress in white-ball cricket as well, scoring heavily for Hobart Hurricanes while juggling between international duties. Richardson, who hasn’t featured for Australia since the shoulder injury he sustained last year that caused him to miss the World Cup, gets an opportunity in the T20I setup after impressing with the ball for Scorchers.

Hohns explained that Marsh has been in tremendous touch with the bat for the Scorchers since his return from injury and is now back bowling well. His accomplishments assured addition in the field he serves as a sturdy middle-order batsman and handy bowler. Hohns justified that Jhye Richardson also returns to the T20 side from injury with his performances demanding inclusion. He is a terrific young player who has been sensational in all forms of the game and is an extremely strong fieldsman. Matthew Wade is also in red hot form with the bat. He is a very strong fielder, and a great person to have in any team. He can also substitute as a wicketkeeper if required.

Allrounder Stoinis, who was designated the BBL player of the tournament for surpassing the run charts, didn’t receive a spot but will be the standby member for both the teams.

The tour will begin with a T20I on February 21 in Johannesburg followed by two more games in the same format before the three-match ODI series.

ODI squad: A Finch (c), A Agar, A Carey (VC), P Cummins (VC), J Hazlewood, M Labuschagne, M Marsh, G Maxwell, K Richardson, S Smith, M Starc, M Wade, D Warner, A Zampa

T20I squad: A Finch (c), S Abbott, A Agar, A Carey (VC), P Cummins (VC), M Marsh, G Maxwell, J Richardson, K Richardson, S Smith, M Starc, M Wade, D Warner, A Zampa

Batting in focus for South Africa ahead of 1st ODI against England

0

Quinton de Kock will take charge of his first series in the format after being appointed South Africa’s captain on January 21. His team comprises neither Faf du Plessis nor Rabada, who have been rested for this series. de Kock also won’t have Nortje, Chris Morris and also Dale Steyn. He will, however, have Lungi Ngidi, back from his unfortunate injury and interesting talents like opener Janneman Malan, wicketkeeper-batsman Kyle Verreynne and fast bowler Lutho Sipamla.

England haven’t played an ODI since July 14 last year, when they managed to be crowned World Cup champions despite neither them nor New Zealand winning the final at Lord’s. England’s only players to cross fifty in that match, Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler, are missing from the equation for this series.

They will, however, be back for the T20 rubber. That’s what white-ball cricket is all about this year with, semantically, the inaugural T20 World Cup (previously the World T20) set for Australia in October and November. And that’s where the global game’s short-format focus will stay for at least another year: the ICC has canned the Champions Trophy, so another T20 World Cup will be played in 2021.

Even so, average performances in the one-dayers could be saved as assets towards achieving positions in T20 squads. Verreynne, for example, has ridden a tide of local dependence into South Africa’s squad.

Jonny Bairstow faces a different challenge. Having been an observer since he made one and nine in the first Test at Centurion, he needs to remind the people who matter, why he was picked. It won’t benefit Bairstow’s conviction that he performed in the only Test England lost on this assignment, but it won’t bother that he scored a century in a one-day tour match in Paarl on Saturday.

Their far-too-often shambolic showing in the Tests has heaped pressure on the South Africans, whose supporters will gladly accept success in the ODIs as the poor person’s salve for their wounded pride; so they will be heartened by the fact that South Africa have won all five of the games in the format they have played against England at Newlands. Alex Hales, the only player to have scored a century for England at the ground, also isn’t in their squad. Neither are James Anderson and Stuart Broad, their most successful bowlers in Cape Town.

Twenty totals higher than England’s Newlands best of 246/8 have been compiled in the 42 ODIs played there. They emphasize at joint-fourth on the table of lowest totals at this stadium.

However, given the trough South Africa stumbled into during the Test series, factors like that aren’t going to matter. Bigger issues will parse the teams: Things like whether the South Africans have remembered how to play cricket of any sort since their 1-3 series drubbing was sealed at the Wanderers last Monday; and whether England remember what ODI cricket is, considering they have played a dozen Tests and five T20s in the almost six months since the World Cup final.

Hetmyer, Lewis excluded for Sri Lanka ODIs on fitness issues

0

West Indies dropped their premium batsman Shimron Hetmyer and Evin Lewis on fitness terrains from their 15-member team for the forthcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka. Darren Bravo has been recalled into the squad along with Rovman Powell and Fabian Allen, the latter having fully recovered from the leg injury he sustained in India late last year.

Roger Harper, CWI’s Lead Selector said that Evin Lewis and Shimron Hetmyer missed out because they came up short in the fitness test. They will be missed, Lewis was the team’s best batsman in the recent Colonial Medical Insurance ODI Series against Ireland where he batted with great composure and proved the bedrock for the team’s series win. Hetmyer seemed to be receiving his act collectively and was an essential component of the team’s batting group.

Harper also said that the side is looking to build on its recent performances in India, where they beat Afghanistan 3-0 and went down 2-1 fighting against India.

Harper added that Sri Lanka are a very good team in their conditions. I do not expect it to be easy but our team has shown that it is very capable. These are the series we will have to win to move up the rankings.

Harper also said that Darren Bravo and Rovman Powell owe their recall to their outstanding performance in the recent Colonial Medical Super50 tournament. Bravo produces good form, a refreshed desire for runs and lots of knowledge that will help the team remarkably. Powell, who is back from injury, will add batting depth to the squad, improve the team’s bowling options and strengthen the fielding section.

The West Indies team will leave for Sri Lanka on February 8 and have a pre-series campsite in Colombo before they face the island team in three ODIs, beginning February 22. The ODI series will be accompanied by two T20Is, the team for which will be named later.

Full squad: K Pollard (C), F Allen, S Ambris, D Bravo, R Chase, S Cottrell, J Holder, Shai Hope, A Joseph, B King, K Paul, N Pooran, R Powell, R Shepherd, H Walsh Jnr.

Galaxy Home Mini Smart Speaker Launch Set for Feb 12th: Report

0

Samsung Galaxy Home Mini, the little variant of the Galaxy Home that was revealed back in August 2018, is debuting a day after Galaxy Unpacked event on February 11, according to a media release. The smart mouthpiece comes with Samsung’s Bixby and includes AKG-tuned speakers. In August last year, Samsung propelled off a beta program committed to the Galaxy Home Mini. The speaker is meant to take on the likes of Amazon Echo Dot and Google Home Mini with a smaller presence than what was accessible on the Samsung Galaxy Home.

The launch event that is highly anticipated to bring the Samsung Galaxy S20 series and the Galaxy Z Flip foldable phone won’t see the launch of Galaxy Home Mini, reports SlashGear, which claims it will debut a day after — on February 12. The smart speaker is said to carry a price tag of KRW 99,000 (roughly Rs. 5,900). Details about the global debut of the Galaxy Home Mini aren’t revealed, though.

Unlike the Galaxy Home that comes with a tripod legs stand, the Samsung Galaxy Home Mini has a standard flat base. The new smart speaker also has a smaller build over the standard Galaxy Home speaker that hasn’t seen a global launch so far — despite being launched officially back in 2018.

The Galaxy Home Mini was proclaimed following a beta program in August last year that was arranged on September 1. A sight of the smart speaker was also shown at the Samsung Developer Conference in October. It is designed to operate with Bixby and has manual controls on the top panel, just as the ones we’ll get on the Amazon Echo Dot or Google Home Mini.

Apart from providing a smart audio experience, the Samsung Galaxy Home Mini is said to come with an infrared (IR) sensor to provide universal control functionality.

KL Rahul attains his career-best position in ICC T20I rankings

0

Rahul, who was the Player of the Series against the BlackCaps for his aggregate of 224 runs in five innings, shot up four places, while Rohit Sharma jumped three places to No. 10, Shreyas Iyer lept 63 places to No. 55 and Pandey jumped from 70th spot to No. 58 in the T20I rankings, which the international cricket board announced on Monday. There are now three Indians in the top 10 batsmen, as Virat Kohli has retained his ninth position with his tally of 105 runs from four matches against the Kiwis having missed the fifth and final match.

Rahul’s 224 runs in five T20Is against New Zealand helped him go past Kohli in a record. The wicketkeeper-batsman became the Indian batsman with most runs in a bilateral T20I series, surpassing Kohli’s 199 runs, which he scored against Australia in a three-match series in 2016. Even the Indian bowlers were lauded for their spectacular show in the T20I series against New Zealand. Jasprit Bumrah has gained 26 places to reach No. 11, Yuzvendra Chahal has jumped 10 places to No. 30 and Shardul Thakur’s eight wickets in the series have shot him up 34 places to No. 57. Navdeep Saini (up 25 places to 71st) and Ravindra Jadeja (up 34 places to 76th) have also made progress in the latest ICC T20I Player Rankings.

Pakistan’s Babar Azam remains on the top spot ahead of Rahul and Aussie skipper Aaron Finch in the batsmen’s rankings. In the bowlers’ category, the top spot belongs to Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan ahead of his compatriot Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Kiwi Mitchell Santner. The current top three all-rounders in the shortest format of the game are Mohammad Nabi of Afghanistan, Australia’s Glenn Maxwell and Zimbabwe’s Sean Williams.

Helmet mandatory for pillion motorists in Hyderabad soon

0

The State transport administration is conspiring to make helmet compulsory for the pillion motorists making the traffic rules tougher to prevent the death caused by road accidents. An awareness rally was also taken out on Sunday on the use of helmet by pillion riders marking the week-long 31st national road safety week celebrations. Soon challans will be imposed by the traffic police on the pillion riders who don’t wear a helmet. However, a few of the motorists who did not wear a helmet while pillion riding has already been issued challans. Some of them also took to social media on the new rule that is yet to be announced. On Sunday, Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar took part in a ceremony at Khammam on road safety where he asked the two-wheeler riders to wear helmets and people traveling in cars must wear seat belts.

iQoo 5G Phone Teased in India, Rumors of Kohli using iQoo

0

iQoo has started teasing the launch of its 5G phone in India. The new development comes just weeks after the brand announced its arrival in the country. iQoo, which was launched as a sub-brand of Vivo in China back in February last year, is set to enter India later this month as a separate legal entity. In addition to the official teaser indicating the imminent launch of the 5G phone, a YouTube video has suggested that star cricketer Virat Kohli was already spotted using the upcoming iQoo phone.

The teaser that has been posted by the iQoo India Twitter account shows the brand’s logo with a “coming soon” tag. The teaser tweet also highlights 5G support on the new smartphone. Separately, iQoo has made a dedicated website that would include further details about the upcoming offering in the coming days.

Aside from the teaser image, YouTube channel RevAtlas has uploaded the video speculating Virat Kohli using the new iQoo phone. The over four-minute video is based on a tweet posted by ESPNcricinfo earlier on Monday that featured Kohli’s image with a smartphone.

The narrator in the video mentions that the smartphone could be the iQoo Pro 5G Edition that was launched in China back in August last year, given the design surfaced on the image that is in line with last year’s model. However, regarding the 5G of the iQoo Pro Edition that combined the Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC, it is not feasible to be the smartphone beginning the Indian market. Moreover, the smartphone would come with 44W Super Flash Charge fast charging technology.

Vivo had unveiled the first model under its iQoo sub-brand in China last year which was called the Vivo iQoo. However, for the Indian market, the brand doesn’t want to be associated with Vivo and debut as a separate legal entity with a distinct office space located in Bengaluru. It would continue to use the manufacturing facility that produces Vivo smartphones, though.

The exact timeline for the iQoo smartphone launch in India is yet to be revealed. Nevertheless, considering the ongoing developments, it is likely to be announced soon.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip Leaked in Alleged Hands-on Video

0

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip to be released soon as the company’s answer to Motorola Razr (2019). Merely days after appearing in leaked renders and getting its entire specifications as well as pricing leaked, the Galaxy Z Flip has now appeared in an alleged hands-on video. The video transmits little to the creativity when it comes to showcasing the phone’s clamshell foldable design and its small cover display that sits alongside the dual rear camera module. But the first thing that comes to mind after seeing the Galaxy Z Flip unfold is how uncomfortably large the phone is, thanks in no part to the super tall aspect ratio.

The alleged hands-on video was shared on Twitter by concept designer Ben Geskin (@BenGeskin), who is said to have lifted it from Instagram. The video shows the upcoming Samsung foldable phone in its dazzling pink color option that has shades of purple as well. It is quite evident from the get-go that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is quite chunky compared to the Motorola Razr (2019) even in the folded state. But when it is unfolded, it appears to be significantly taller, thanks to the 22:9 aspect ratio Samsung is going for. The person handling the phone appears to be struggling with the sheer size, and it is going to be a tough task for users trying to reach for content in the upper half of the screen.
