Aaron Finch had once reminded Paine of one IPL team he did not play for

0

Aaron Finch, who was sold to Royal Challengers Bangalore for an impressive Rs 4.40 crore in the IPL 2020 Player Auction on Thursday, should have an interesting reunion with Virat Kohli.

Virat Kohli has had a testy relationship with several Australian cricketers. During India’s historic Test series triumph Down Under, Virat Kohli and Australian captain Tim Paine had to be separated by umpires when the two got involved in a heated argument.

Tim Paine was caught saying this to Aaron Finch on a stump microphone when he was trying to distract Rohit Sharma: “Too many Poms now, the (Rajasthan) Royals.” And then turning to Finch, Paine continues: You have played for every team now.”

https://twitter.com/cricketcomau/status/1207614995493613570?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1207614995493613570&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.indiatoday.in%2Fsports%2Fcricket%2Fstory%2Faaron-finch-sold-banglaore-rcb-4-4-crore-virat-kohli-tim-paine-banter-ip-player-auction-2020-1629900-2019-12-20

Aaron Finch, who played for Kings XI Punjab in the 2019 IPL, replied: “Except Bangalore.”
Tim Paine, while running to the other end after the conclusion of the over, had chirped back to Finch: “Haven’t you got there? Virat doesn’t like you.” And Finch: “No one likes me, that’s why I keep moving.”

Aaron Finch, who is captain of Australia’s ODI and T20I teams, has played for as many as 7 different IPL teams. RCB will be his 8th in the Indian Premier League.

Royal Challengers Bangalore has never won the IPL and they had last made it to the final in 2016 when Virat Kohli led from the front and smashed several records.

Aaron Finch is expected to come in and bolster the top-order and for all you know, he might even walk out to open the innings with Virat Kohli.

Aaron Finch: a base price of Rs 1 crore (bidding war KKR vs RCB) – sold to Rs 4.40 crore to RCB

Samsung Galaxy S11 trio confirmed to sport 48MP telephoto cameras

1

Last month we came across a report which claimed that the Galaxy S11 and its Plus variant will sport a quad camera on the back with a 48MP telephoto unit. Now reliable tipster Ice universe says that S11, S11e, and S11+ will feature telephoto units with no less than 48MP resolution.

The tipster doesn’t go into the details but adds that the Korean tech giant will lead the high-pixel telephoto lens race.

The Galaxy S11 and Galaxy S11+ are rumored to boast 108MP primary cameras on the back, but it’s unclear whether the S11e will also sport a 108MP module or if Samsung will go for a lower-res unit for the cheapest smartphone in the S11 lineup.

The S11 trio is rumored to arrive on February 18 and we are likely to hear more about the lineup in the coming weeks.

OnePlus 6T, OnePlus 6 Start Receiving OxygenOS 10.3.0 Update

0

OnePlus has begun the rollout of stable OxygenOS 10.3.0 update for the OnePlus 6T and OnePlus 6 users in India. This one is an incremental update that mostly focuses on resolving the bugs and issues that OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T users started facing following the Android 10-based OxygenOS 10.0 update that arrived last month. The OxygenOS 10.3.0 update also introduces the ability to hide the notch on the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T. Additionally, it brings improvements for the fingerprint to unlock functionality, as well as unspecified camera performance refinement.

The OnePlus forum post mentions that the incremental rollout of OxygenOS 10.3.0 update for the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T has now begun via the stable channel. We have across multiple posts on the OnePlus forum where users have revealed the arrival of the new OxygenOS update, but it appears that the OTA is being rolled out in a phased manner and will reach the remaining OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T users over the course of the next few days.

Arvind Kejriwal Launches Free Wi-Fi Amid Delhi Internet Shutdown

0

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday launched the much-awaited free Wi-Fi hotspot scheme, while a part of the city faced a government-directed Internet shutdown over Citizen (Amendment) Act or CAA protests. While Kejriwal launched the scheme at the ITO bus stand, his deputy Manish Sisodia launched the scheme at the Vishwavidyalaya Metro station.

On Thursday, the anti-CAA protests gained momentum, following which the Delhi Police wrote to mobile phone operators including Airtel, Jio, MTNL, BSNL, and Vodafone Idea to stop all communication services – voice, SMS, and mobile data – in many parts of the national capital.

The areas where the cellular and Internet services have been shut include north and central Delhi. Mandi House, Jamia Nagar, Shaheen Bagh, Seelampur, Jafrabad, and Bawana are other areas where mobile services have been curtailed.

Speaking to the media, Kejriwal said: “it is an irony that the day we started the free Internet scheme, the Internet services are being shut in the city […] We hope that the situation will be soon brought under control.”

Kejriwal also said the people in the country were “scared” as 70 percent of them have no documents to prove their citizenship. There was no need for the amended citizenship law and the government needs to focus on providing jobs to the youth, he added.

Over 100 hotspots were given to the national capital, as part of Kejriwal’s poll promise of providing free Internet in the city. He said in the next six months, the city will get 11,000 hotspots. “This is phase one. In phase two, we will give hotspots to the entire city,” he said.

Huawei Mate X Improved Version With Kirin 990 SoC Set to Launch at MWC 2020: Report

0

Huawei Mate X is set to receive an improved version next year, Huawei Technologies Consumer Business Group CEO Richard Yu confirmed in a media interview. The Mate X upgrade is said to carry an improved design with the better hinge and a more resistant display over what was featured on the original model that was unveiled at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019 in Barcelona.

While the current Mate X model is yet to reach markets like India and the US, its improved version is likely to debut as early as the first quarter of 2020. Huawei is also in plans offer HiSilicon Kirin 990 SoC on the new foldable smartphone.

The improved Huawei Mate X version with an overhauled design is set to launch at MWC 2020, according to a report by the French technology website Frandoid, citing Richard Yu. It is unclear whether Huawei will continue to offer the same foldable design, which carries a flexible screen that flips around its back when folded. However, the report does mention that there will be improvements towards the hinge and display.

In August, a Mate X surfaced on China’s TENAA database that included images hinting at subtle changes over what was unveiled at MWC this year. The phone was listed with model number Huawei TAH-AN00 and appeared to have tweaked button placements and an improved hinge structure.
Huawei is yet to launch the original Mate X in many global markets including India. Nevertheless, the foldable smartphone debuted in China in October.

Alongside launching the Mate X in China, Huawei showcased a slide giving a sneak peek at the Mate XS that included the HiSilicon Kirin 990 SoC along with an integrated 5G modem. This was unlike the Mate X that has the Kirin 980 SoC and a separate Balong 5000 modem to enable 5G support.

The Mate XS may end up arriving as the improved version of the Mate X next year. Yu reportedly mentioned that Huawei is in plans to launch its foldable phone in Europe in the first quarter of 2020. However, he didn’t clarify whether the phone would be the existing Mate X or its improved version that would be showcased at MWC in February.

PAK Vs SL: Embuldeniya’s strikes give Sri Lanka upper hand

0

Lasith Embuldeniya picked up a couple of scalps in the second session, including the prized scalp of Babar Azam as Pakistan slipped to 171 for 5 at Tea on Day 1 of the second Test in Karachi.
The hosts began the session at 72 for 3, with Azam looking in fine touch. The mainstay of the Pakistan batting unit showed his class with a fine drive off Lahiru Kumara and followed it up with a steer off the same bowler. To his credit, Kumara also troubled Azam and Asad Shafiq (49*) with nip-backers. Azam also took a toll off Embuldeniya’s bowling, including a lofted shot over long-on and reached his fifty with a cut off Dilruwan Perera.

Eventually, Embuldeniya had the last laugh, dismissing Azam in the 40th over. Azam skipped down the track early, with the left-arm spinner dragging the length back and extracting turn to beat the batsman and for Niroshan Dickwella to whip the bails off. Despite losing the key wicket, Pakistan’s batsmen continued to attack the left-arm spinner. Shafiq employed the sweep shot while Haris Sohail skipped down the track to lift Embuldeniya over long-on. Just that at the fag end of the session, the spinner found the turn to trap Haris in front. The southpaw took the review but to no avail.

Earlier, Sri Lanka’s pace pair of Vishwa Fernando and Lahiru Kumara took advantage of the movement on offer and picked up three wickets to leave Pakistan in a spot of bother. On a track offering some assistance, Pakistan opted to bat. However, Fernando found swing and also extracted seam movement to pick up the scalps of Shan Masood and Azhar Ali in a single over. Masood’s tendency to play inside the line resulted in his dismissal, with the left-arm pacer shaping one away from the southpaw to rattle the stumps.

Azhar was cleaned up in the same over, closing the bat face early to a delivery that swung back. Abid Ali and Azam then went about resurrecting the innings. Abid took advantage of Dimuth Karunaratne’s part-time medium-pace with a four and a six. Azam, on the other hand, survived an LBW decision that went against him by taking the review. He was given out LBW off Fernando, but he placed his belief in the review and replays suggested that Azam had eked out a faint edge, and the decision was reversed. On the brink of the lunch break, Lahiru Kumara prised out Abid Ali to leave Pakistan in further trouble.

Brief scores: Pakistan 171/5 (Babar Azam 60; Vishwa Fernando 2-31) v Sri Lanka

Samsung’s clamshell foldable spotted in live images

0

Towards the end of October, Samsung gave us an official tease for its upcoming clamshell foldable phone. Since then we’ve seen countless renders and rumors about the device but now we have our first live look at the next-gen Galaxy Fold.

The design comes just as advertised with a tall, vertically folding Infinity-O display with a centered punch-hole cutout for the selfie cam. There’s quite some bezel on the sides and bottom but no chin like on the Motorola Razr. The phone is running the familiar One UI experience but we should expect Samsung to add some specific tweaks to take advantage of the foldable form factor.

The front of the phone when folded has a small display for the time, date and notifications which sit next to the LED flash and dual camera setup. It’s unclear if the area above it will hold another display though.
The back appears to be made out of glass while the hinge seems identical to the one on the Galaxy Fold, just smaller. We also get to see the volume and power buttons that are placed in the upper right-hand-side while the bottom houses the loudspeaker and type-C port.

According to reports, the clamshell Galaxy Fold will come with a price tag in the $1,000 range and should be announced alongside the Galaxy S11 series on February 18. As always we’ll keep you posted when we have more info to work with.

Google joins Amazon and Apple to create an open-source smart home standard

0

The ‘smart home’ concept is a developing one and a slightly confusing one. With a whole bunch of names, standards, and systems built by different tech companies, there is no making sure if one of your devices will work with the other. For example – will the smart home device work with Google Assistant or Alexa? Where does Siri fit into all this, if at all?

In a significant move, the big guns in the industry are moving in to solve this problem. Apple, Google, Amazon have teamed up with some other big names to create the “Project Connected Home Over IP” group. Managed by Zigbee Alliance, the goal is to make a new, open-source smart home connectivity standard based on Internet Protocol.

Once created, it should become easier for the user to set up smart home products and reduce costs and development time for the companies involved.

This new standard will be working alongside existing protocols like WiFi and Bluetooth. While there are no set plans in place yet, the group has said that for the devices to work they will have to support Bluetooth Low Energy, WiFi or Thread to work in the new system they are going to develop. The standard will be based around IP, the group said, adding that not all devices will need to connect to the Internet. And, the new standard will allow all these devices to send messages to each other with end-to-end security.

Besides Apple, Google, Amazon, and Zigbee, the other big names in the fray are Ikea, Samsung (Smart Things), Signify (Philips Lighting), etc. The group will start with a focus on safety devices like smoke alarms, door locks, etc and the initial draft of the new standard will be released in late 2020.

Balakrishna film Ruler should collect 22 crores to save his film

0

Nandamuri Balakrishna will be closing the year with the film Ruler. It is his third release of the year, after NTR: Kathanayakudu and NTR: Mahanayakudu. Both these films became disasters at the box office and thus, all the Balayya fans are pinning high hopes on Ruler, which is hitting the theatres tomorrow. According to the insider reports, the film has done a pre-release business of Rs. 21 crores.

Thus, it now has to do a business of Rs. 22 crores to be in the safe zone. Considering the recent form of Balayya and his current market value, this seems to be a herculean task. Moreover, it is clashing with two other films, Sai Dharam Tej’s Prathi Roju Pandaage and Karthi’s Donga. So, we cant expect high openings.

This is off-season and the film has to be very good to bring the crowd to the theatres. Additionally, there is a talk that there is nothing new in the film and it is a regular commercial potboiler. The trailers also didn’t get a good response from the viewers. Balayya’s different wigs also got trolled on social media. All these factors are affecting the film and we have to see how it can surpass that break-even figure after the release.

Srinu Vaitla

Once a celebrated star director, Srinu Vaitla is now experiencing the all-time low phase in his nearly two-decade-old career.

Once a celebrated star director, Srinu Vaitla is now experiencing the all-time low phase in his nearly two-decade-old career. The director has been scoring continuous flops like Aagadu, Mister and Amar Akbar Anthony, which drastically dropped his reputation as well as the market value. He has not announced any new project in the last year. According to the latest reports from the tinsel town, Srinu Vaitla is now planning to team up with young hero Bellamkonda Srinivas for his next film. It seems that this film will be an out and out comedy entertainer just like the previous films of Vaitla.

We hear that the director is aiming to make a solid comeback with this movie and that is why he is on a hiatus right now.
This project will get announced very soon and will go the floors in early next year. Mostly, the film will hit the screens by the end of 2020. Bellamkonda Srinivas is currently in a good form by scoring a super hit with Rakshasudu and Vaitla can easily make a comeback with the young hero. Meanwhile, Bellamkonda Srinivas is currently shooting for his next with director Santosh Srinivas. He will start Vaitla’s film, after wrapping up the ongoing one.

Athade Srimannarayana is set to hit the screens on January 1 worldwide.

Actor Rakshit Shetty’s upcoming film Athade Srimannarayana is set to hit the screens on January 1 worldwide. Produced on the Pushkar Films banner by Pushkar Mallikarjuna and HK Prakash, the film sees Sachin make his directorial debut. The film is being released in Telugu by producer Dil Raju on Sri Venkateswara Creations. The film is all set to have a grand release worldwide on January 1.

At a press meet held in Hyderabad on Wednesday, Rakshit Shetty, Shanvi Shrivastava Balaji Manohar, Pramod Shetty, Imran, Rajesh, distributor Satish, and Ramajogayya Sastry made the attendance. On this occasion, Rajesh said, “Athade Srimannarayana is set to release worldwide on January 1. Producer Dil Raju’s Sri Venkateswara Creations banner is set to release the film in Telugu. The fact that the film is releasing in his banner spells success for it and we are very happy. Shanvi will be seen in a role she has never played before and the story revolves around her. It was a challenge to write dialogues for Rakshit Shetty. Director Sachin has written an amazing screenplay. Ajneesh Loknath’s music and background score.

will be well-received. The film has an interesting story of a treasure hunt. The film is a period film made in the cowboy space and is of a very distinct genre that the audiences will love.” Shanvi Srivastava said “I am back in front of the Telugu audience after almost five years and I am so excited. I didn’t sign any film for almost a year and a half after Rowdy. With the audience’s support, I came back and have taken up some interesting projects. I am so glad to be back with such a huge film again.”

Actor Rakshit Shetty said, “I hail from Udupi. While studying engineering, I had a friend called Vamsi Krishna who introduced me to Telugu. It was only with him that I shared my dreams of becoming an actor. Both of us used to watch short films together and enjoyed the films of Venkatesh, Nagarjuna and Chiranjeevi but never understood the difference. It was Vamsi Krishna who showed me how passionate a person can be towards films. After I entered cinema, I understood how much the audience here loves and accepts cinema. That is the reason I decided to release the film in Telugu too. This is a labour of love of these years. I am excited to see how the audience accepts this. I am thankful to Ramajogayya Sastry garu for writing the lyrics and Dil Raju garu for the lyrics.”

Wasim Jaffer appointed Kings XI batting coach

0

He recently became the first to play in 150 Ranji Trophy matches and is not far from becoming the first to score 20,000 runs in the tournament, but you won’t hear Wasim Jaffer’s name only when the Ranji is around. According to his new job profile, which is already on display on the IPL franchise’s website, the domestic stalwart, who played 31 Tests and two ODIs, is now the batting coach of Kings XI Punjab.

Apparently, Jaffer, who still plays for Vidarbha in the Ranji Trophy, signed the deal after being persuaded to do so by the new coach of Kings XI, and his former India captain, Anil Kumble. “I’m thankful to Kumble. He’s the one who approached me. It was an honor to play under him for India. I’ve got so much to learn from him. Though I’m currently coaching in Bangladesh (he’s the batting coach at the Bangladesh Cricket Board academy), this is obviously a good opportunity, and I’m looking forward to this experience,” Jaffer told TOI on Wednesday from Nagpur, where Vidarbha are playing Rajasthan in a second-round match of the Ranji Trophy. Jaffer scored 60 in that game.

The 41-year-old elegant batsman, though, didn’t have a particularly good time in his sole tryst with IPL – playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), who finished last, he scored just 115 runs in six matches at 19.16, at a strike rate of 110.57 in the inaugural edition of the IPL back in 2008.

Quizzed on how he would coach batsmen in a format that wasn’t exactly his favorite as a player, Jaffer said: “Yes, but according to me, batting remains the same, though the game has become a bit fast. I’d be happy to learn from the many great players around me in the IPL. I’d be glad to pass on my ‘little’ knowledge to the youngsters, particularly the Indians,” he said.

The completely revamped support staff of the team includes Sunil Joshi as the bowling coach of the team and South African great Jonty Rhodes as the fielding coach of the team. After trading away Ravichandran Ashwin to the Delhi capitals, the franchise may gun for a new captain in Eoin Morgan, who will be available to be bought in the player auction in Kolkata on Thursday.

Stars sign Haris Rauf as Steyn’s overseas replacement

0

Melbourne Stars signed Pakistan bowler Haris Rauf as an overseas replacement player for Dale Steyn, who is still recovering from a side strain that he picked up during the Mzansi Super League. Steyn will miss out on the opening game of the season, as a result.

“Our priority is Dale’s fitness and continuing his treatment. He is very keen to play but we’ll let him rest after a long flight to Australia and put him in the best position to be ready for our match in Moe on Sunday,” Melbourne Stars’ physiotherapist, Tommy Simsek said on Thursday (December 19).

Rauf, who made his Pakistan Super League debut in 2019 for Lahore Qalandars, will now join Nathan Coulter-Nile, Hilton Cartwright, Clint Hinchliffe as part of the franchise’s new signings, who have made the 13-man squad for their season opener against Brisbane Heat.

In 18 T20s so far, Rauf has returned 19 wickets at 24.21.
