Facebook bought WhatsApp in 2014 for $19 Billion. Post that buyout, WhatsApp co-founders Brain Acton and Jan Koum have been continuing in the company. Earlier this year, Acton quit the company in January, after wanted to start a new company foundation.

In such situation, Brain Acton came up with a controversial tweet. He asked everyone to delete their Facebook account. In his short and sweet tweet, he said, ‘It is time. #deletefacebook’.

The tweet came from Brain Acton after New York Times exposed that political campaigning company Cambridge Analytics harvested data of over 50 million Facebook users without their permission. The news plunged Facebook’s stock, and this tweet is expected to affect Facebook’s stock price in the coming week.

It is worth noting that, Cambridge Analytics is the one which handled Donald Trump’s presidential campaign. The whole ‘leak’ came to light after Data Scientist Christopher Wiley, who worked closely with Cambridge University Psychologist Alexander Kogan, went public about Cambridge Analytics misdoings.

It was Alexander Kogan who played a vital role in developing the app that stole the user’s data from Facebook. He also stated that he would co-operate with Facebook, and will testify in front of the Congress.

Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) called for a strike on shootings, post-production works, and release of cinemas in theatres from March 16th. The move came after the TFPC and Digital Service Providers negotiations over the ‘digital service charge’ failed. In this context, the entire Kollywood has become stand still.

Reacting to the criticism from other producers, TFPC Secretary SS Durairaj said, ‘from March 16th onwards we have stalled all the shootings. According to close sources, Telugu States Chief Ministers, Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhar Rao have been reportedly invited tothe movie launch program on March 29th. Both the CM’s have given their permission too.

KCR is expected to launch the film with the first clap, while Chandrababu will switch on. After the official launch, the movie’s regular shooting will start in Ramakrishna Studios.

The female lead and the rest of the crew, along with technicians will be announced soon, said the production unit. Nandamuri Balakrishna is bankrolling this prestigious project on his home banner, Brahma Teja Films.

Facebook stock price collapsed by 8.3% after in the wake of the Russian disinformation scandal. According to highly placed sources, the Facebook stock took the blow after it New York Times exposed Cambridge Analytica harvested the data of over 5 crores (50 million) Facebook users, without their permission.With the 7% dip in Facebook’s stock price during the day, and a slid of 1.3% after the bell, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg net worth slipped by Rs 37,900 crores (or $5.81 Bn) in one day.

Cambridge Analytica harvested the user’s information through a simple app. The whole thing is believed to be controlled by Russian hackers. Rumours surfaced that, Facebook Chief Security Officer, Alex Stamos Moran has left the company in the wake of this scandal.

But he confirmed that he has not left the company, but instead his role is changed. ‘I’m currently spending more time exploring security, risks and working on election security’, tweeted Alex Stamos.

The whole scandal was leaked by a whistleblower from Cambridge Analytica. New York Times claimed, the leaked data helped Donald Trump’s 2016 US Presidential Elections digital campaigning.
