YS Jagan took ‘media classes’ to ABN and Andhra Jyothy reporters today morning before he began addressing the press. The YSRCP Supremo organized for an early press meet, given Chandrababu’s late night ‘press-address’.

Before starting his speech, YS Jagan asked the reporters about their whereabouts. Two reporters stated that they came from ABN and Andhra Jyothy media houses. Immediately, YS Jagan went on to say, ‘you both shouldn’t have come for this press meet. We already informed your media houses (ABN and Andhra Jyothy) not to send their reporters for our (YSRCP) press-meets. You all very well know about the ongoing court cases going on between me and ABN, Andhra Jyothy.

Anyways, you have come here. It is ok for this time. But from next time, make sure you don’t.’

The reporters had no face-off, after being outrightly targeted. What’s worst was, the whole episode took place during the live telecast. Things did not end there. Jagan criticized that few media sections are glorifying Chandrababu Naidu and TDP for their personal gains.

It looks like Jagan has forgotten about his own media, Sakshi, and how he was glorified during ‘Operation Akarsh’ in the past.

Andhra Pradesh Budget In Brief 2018-2019

As expected, the AP State budget for the upcoming fiscal year was released today by the Finance Minister Yanamala Rama Krishnudu. He has handed over the Budget to the AP CM Chandrababu Naidu.Some key notes from the budget are as below.Like speculated, the total budget went close to 2 lakh crores. The budget for 2018 fiscal year stands at 1,91,063 crores.

It was divided into three main shares. The total expenditure of Revenue estimated up to Rs 1,50,270 crores. The Capital Cost amounted Rs 28,678,49 crores. So the remaining amount Rs 24,205 crores exist as Revenue Deficit.Compared to the last fiscal year budget, this year’s budget has seen an increment of almost 22% indicating that the Government is targeting votes with this hike.

Among all the allocated Government sectors, the TDP Government mainly focussed on the Educational Sector by giving a lion’s share of almost Rs 24,185 crores which is a lot. After that, it concentrated on the Agriculture Sector to stop farmer suicides by allocating Rs 12,382 crores.Hiking funds for Polavaram with Rs 9000 crores and Irrigation Sectors to Rs 16,000 crores stood as a highlight.

The TDP Government in order to woo the backward castes has given a huge sum of 4477 crores and gave 12,200 crores exclusively for the BC to pacify BC reservation movement.Looking at these excerpts, we can come to a conclusion that the AP Government estimated the Budget keeping the elections in mind without any second thought.

The former MP of Congress, Undavalli Arun Kumar has breathed fire on Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. This senior most Politician of AP blasted the entire cadre of BJP for ignoring the state of AP and its future.

Even though he announced his political retirement, Undavalli Arun Kumar has been playing an active role as a spokesperson of Pawan Kalyan’s Joint Fact-Finding Committee. During the release of JFFC final report, he demanded BJP grant all the necessary funds for AP. AP State Cabinet Ministers Kamineni Srinivas Rao and Manikyala Rao have resigned from their portfolios today morning. Both the BJP leaders met AP CM Chandrababu Naidu in CM’s office and handed over their resignation letter.

Chandrababu said, ‘During the four years, you both worked efficiently’ while they submitted their resignations. This move was called for, after Chandrababu’s late night press meet, and the CM’s decision to withdraw from the NDA alliance at the Centre.

Before the BJP leaders met the CM and interesting conversation place between them and Minister Ganta Srinivas Rao. When Ganta Srinivas Rao asked Manikyala Rao, should he congratulate or express sympathy? Manikyala Rao stated, he should be congratulated. Answering to the TDP MLAs at the Assembly, Kamineni said that, ‘we are happy to resign from the ministries. Both entry and exit from politics should be equally respectful.’

While this is one side of the coin, on the flip side, the resignation letter submitted by Kamineni Srinivas to the Speaker gave way to controversy. The minister showed his letter to the media representatives before submitting it to the speaker. Instead of having a single liner that ‘he is resigning’, the letter had 3 paragraphs, detailing about his resignation.

The (residual) Andhra Pradesh 2018 – 2019 State budget will be crossing the Rs 2 Lakh crores for the first time. After the bifurcation, the State Finance Minister, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu proposed a Rs 1.11 Lakh crore budget for the fiscal year 2014 – 2015. From then onwards, the budget for each fiscal year has been on the uptrend and is now crossing the Rs 2 Lakh crore mark in the fourth year.

Given the speculations that the next AP Assembly elections will be held during December 2018 – January 2019, ahead of its general schedule (May 2019), this might probably be the last state budget.

Close sources confirmed that the TDP government is likely to allocate surplus funds to Employment Schemes, various Pensions, Irrigation Projects, and social welfare programs. Strategically, the government is likely to pay a monthly amount for the unemployed youth. This is also one of the key points in TDP’s 2014 manifesto. 

At the same time, the government is also concentrating on increasing the pensions, especially for SC, ST, BCYanamala Ramakrishnudu and other minority communities. Rs 24,000 crores are likely to be allotted for the Irrigation projects in the state. Overall, the 2018-2019 AP State Budget can be termed as an ‘Election Budget’.

At the same time, the Ministry of Finance also said, demanding the incentives given to the Eastern States for AP, is not possible and is absolutely senseless.‘The AP MPs are unnecessarily raising the political heat in the name of self-respect. As far as we are concerned, giving Special Status to Andhra Pradesh is not possible. The best we can do is fulfilling the commitments made in the Special Package.
