Jhye Richardson added to squad for South Africa ODIs

0

Cricket Australia have confirmed that seam bowler Jhye Richardson will stay back in South Africa with the ODI squad. Richardson, 23, firstly listed only in the T20I team, hasn’t represented international cricket for Australia for 11 months after sustaining a severe shoulder injury after the series upon Pakistan last March.

Richardson experienced a prolific BBL, plucking 15 wickets from 14 games for Perth Scorchers at an economy of 7.07. He hasn’t participated in the T20Is as though but Australia’s selector has been excited with his rehabilitation and believes he can replicate the form that designated him as vivacious prospect ahead of last year’s World Cup.

Trevor Hohns: Jhye is doing particularly well, as we saw during the Big Bash. He has slotted back into the T20 squad in South Africa and is contending for a spot on that side. We are very happy to have such a wide pool of fast bowlers. Jhye has earnt his spot after the hard work he has done to get back into his best form after a serious injury. Keeping him in South Africa with the one-day team gives us another excellent fast bowler who is available to go.

Curiously, however, Richardson has not been incorporated in the team that will take on New Zealand at home shortly following the tour of South Africa with the selectors keeping the initial 14-member team that was selected for the South Africa ODIs. Australia is programmed to wind up their tour of South Africa with three ODIs. The three-match ODI series versus New Zealand begins at the SCG on March 13.

Australia ODI Squad vs New Zealand: A Finch (c), A Agar, A Carey (VC), P Cummins (VC), J Hazlewood, M Labuschagne, M Marsh, K Richardson, S Smith, D Short, M Starc, M Wade, D Warner, A Zampa

Nayeem, Taijul Shine as Bangladesh handed Zimbabwe innings defeat

0

After the disappointments in the Test series in India and the first Test in Pakistan, Bangladesh bounced back to seal a win by an innings and 106 runs in Dhaka against Zimbabwe. There were periods of resistance from the visitors but they had already been knocked out of the contest after Mushfiqur Rahim’s double ton on the third ton.

Conceding a 295-run first-innings lead was never ideal and the situation became a lot worse when they lost two wickets in the first over. Coming into the fourth day, at 9 or 2, Zimbabwe needed patience and resilience. But it was the Bangladesh bowlers who came out with those disciplines. Maidens in the first three overs built the pressure and resulted in the wicket of Kevin Kasuza on the sixth over of the day.

Brendan Taylor adventurism didn’t pay off as he was caught at long-leg off a top edge trying to slog-sweep Nayeem Hasan. At 44 for 4, Zimbabwe looked set for an early finish. Craig Ervine came out and had his share of fun – scoring 43 off 49 – before a needless run out just before lunch ended his stay. The Zimbabwe captain was late on responding on a call from Sikandar Raza and was run out at the striker’s end.

The 60-run stand between Ervine and Raza had frustrated the hosts but they had found an opening heading into the second session. Raza fell early into the second session but Timycen Maruma and Regis Chakabva stitched a 44-run stand to arrest the slide for a brief period. Taijul Islam broke that stand with the wicket of the latter before his partner-in-crime Nayeem removed Ainsley Ndlovu.

At 170 for 8, the end was near. Nayeem completed his five-wicket haul with the wicket of Maruma and ended with nine in the game. Taijul picked up four as the spinners bagged nine in the second innings to dismantle the Zimbabwean challenge

Brief scores: Zimbabwe 265 (Craig Ervine 107; Nayeem Hasan 4-70) & 114/5 (Craig Ervine 43; Nayeem 5-82) lost to Bangladesh 560/6 dec (Musfiqur Rahim 203*, Mominul Haque 132) by an innings and 106 runs.

Zimbabwe Collapse in Chase as spinners dominate at Lunch

0

Zimbabwe was left with a steep climb to save the one-off Test as they slipped to 114 for 5 at lunch on the fourth day in Dhaka. After starting on 9 for 2, the visitors lost Brendan Taylor, Kevin Kasuza and the first-innings centurion Craig Ervine to a needless run out to sink further.

The opening with three maidens and the outcome came in the sixth over as Taijul Islam had Kasuza grabbed at gully. Zimbabwe was 15 for 3 and banking on the experience of Ervine and Taylor to fight back. Taylor’s shocking shot – in the 17th over of the innings – left them 44 for 4 as the former captain fell for 17 off 47. Taylor tried to play a slog sweep against Nayeem Hasan and was caught at long-leg after getting a top-edge.

Ervine was adventurous while Raza was happy to block the challenges that came his way. After striking six boundaries, he nonchalantly lofted Nayeem over long-off for a six to make a statement. The duo continued their collaboration to 60 but thrown a wicket to Bangladesh with less than five minutes to go for the break. The Zimbabwe captain was late to respond to a call from Raza and was knocked over by a direct hit from Mominul Haque.

Brief scores: Zimbabwe 265 & 114/5 (Craig Ervine 43; Nayeem Hasan 3-44) trail Bangladesh 560/6 dec (Musfiqur Rahim 203*, Mominul Haque 132) by 181 runs

After Rana Daggubati, Naga Chaitanya, who is basking in the success of blockbuster ‘Majili,’ is all set to turn producer to promote new-age films. The scion of Akkineni family is planning to establish a banner to dish out a coming of age movie with young actor Raj Tharun to kick-start his production house very soon.

With Raj Tharun also showing interest to work with Naga Chaitanya, the project sounds exciting,’ Even though his father Nagarjuna owns Annapoorna Studios, Naga Chaitanya wants to branch out on his own and make films of his choice and he may act in his production too if he comes across an exciting script.

‘Primarily, he wants to give a boost to small budget movies and prove that well-made movies will strike a chord with the masses if properly captured and marketed,’ the source points out. He may act in his production, but it is purely meant for other actors,’ the source concludes.

The notebook is claimed to get charged 53 percent in just half an hour — using the USB Type-C 65W charger. Zimbabwe reeling after Rahim’s record-breaking double ton

0

Records tumbled at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka as Bangladesh continued their dominance over Zimbabwe in the one-off Test. Rahim became the highest scorer for Bangladesh in Test cricket, he also hit his third double hundred. Rahim’s thriving 203 supported Bangladesh declare on 560 for 6 with a first-innings lead of 295. By the time the stumps, the visitants were 9 for 2.

It became pretty evident early that Zimbabwe had a day full of toil ahead of them. After five quiet overs, Ainsley Ndlovu opened the floodgates as he leaked three boundaries in the 77th over. From there on, Zimbabwe bowled more than 20 consecutive overs without a maiden as both Rahim and Mominul Haque made merry. The pair scored 222 for the fourth wicket to pin the visitors on the mat.

Zimbabwe took the new ball as soon as it became available but the pacers lacked the consistency to trouble the Bangladesh pair. Easy runs were picked up at brisk pace as Bangladesh surged past 300. Mominul achieved his ninth Test hundred with a drive past mid-off. He stayed unbeaten on 119 at the end of the first session as Rahim raced to 99. The past skipper achieved his hundred in the first over after the break as Zimbabwe extended to toil.

The second session brought two wickets for Zimbabwe. Mominul drove one back to Ndlovu in the 11th over to fall for 132 while Mohammad Mithun fell seven overs later for 17. At 421 for 5, Bangladesh was comfortably placed with their lead already 156. That, however, wasn’t the end of misery for Zimbabwe. Liton Das struck a half-century and added 111 for the fifth wicket with Rahim.

The moment of the day came in the 154th over of the innings as Rahim cracked a boundary past the extra cover to complete his double ton. Bangladesh declared four balls later to give their bowlers time to take advantage of the tired Zimbabwe legs.

The move worked as Nayeem Hasan landed consecutive blows on the second and third ball to nip out Prince Masvaure and nightwatchman Donald Tiripano. With the side nevertheless trailing by 286, Bangladesh will favor their opportunities for early termination.

Brief scores: Zimbabwe 265 & 9/2 (Nayeem Hasan 2-4) trail Bangladesh 560/6 dec (Mushfiqur Rahim 203*, Mominul Haque 132) by 286 runs.

Ban Vs Zim: Mominul, Rahim continue to make Zimbabwe toil

0

Mominul Haque and Mushfiqur Rahim consolidated Bangladesh’s position as they extended the lead to 86 by Lunch on the third day in Dhaka. Bangladesh went into the break at 351 for 3 with the Bangladesh captain cracking his ninth Test ton. Rahim too surged towards his ton and ended the session unbeaten on 99.

In a pretty uneventful session, the pair extended their collaboration to 179 after starting on 240 for 3. After five low overs at the origin of the day, Ainsley Ndlovu began the overflow as he flowed three boundaries in the 77th over. In the 80th over, the duo produced up their hundred partnership as Zimbabwe took the new ball as soon as it was available.

However, both Donald Tiripano and Victor Nyauchi were wayward and lacked the consistency to trouble the batsmen. Mominul got to his century first – with a drive past mid-off for a boundary – off 156 balls. Rahim completed his half-century and drove the side past 300 to put Zimbabwe under pressure. A clip to fine-leg off Charlton Tshuma helped Rahim enter the 90s as Zimbabwe bowled more than 20 consecutive overs without a maiden in the session. The sole half-chance for Zimbabwe was in the 87th over as the wicket-keeper executed a reverse sweep that came just short of the backward position fielder.

Brief scores: Zim 265 (C Ervine 107; N Hasan 4-70), Ban 351/3 (M Haque 119*, M Rahim 99*) by 86 runs.
