Wal-Mart to change its legal name to Walmart

Posted [relativedate] at [relativetime time_format=”H:i”]

Wal-Mart is all set to change its legal name to Walmart on February 1. It was known as Wal- Mart Inc. when it was incorporated in 1969. Later it was changed to Wal-Mart Stores Inc. the very next year when it went into public.

Is there something in the name?  For Wal- Mart Stores Inc., it has got nothing to do with the name. They said it’s not, what’s not in the name that counts. The twist reflects on how customers normally refer to the company and support its objective to serve customers both in physical and online stores.

Now you may ask “why in the first place a change of name? It is due to growing popularity as a retailer who serves customers no matter how they choose to shop,” chief executive officer Doug McMillon said in a blog post on the company’s website.

“I guess all our customers including me refer to our company as Walmart”. He sought the position of the company as an E-Commerce powerhouse and a rival to Amazon.com Inc., by acquiring web retailers like Jet.com and Bonobos, providing a two-day free delivery, and hiring Ivy Leaguers to help run its internet operations.  It also plans to team up with Google on voice-activated shopping. This push has paved to online sales hike of at least fifty percent in the US.

I ran out of fuel and the nearest fuel station was miles away. With no lights and in pitch dark, that too in an alien country, I was cursing myself for not refueling my tank.

It would have taken at least an hour for the roadside assistance to help me out. I was left out stranded on the road that night with an internet pack and without any balance in my phone. I opened the tinder app and starting randomly swiping.

It was at that moment I find a girl 3 km away from my location. I explained her the situation for about 20 minutes. She came to the rescue. She got me a can of fuel and a sandwich. I must admit I did not go to Tinder for seeking some help. I feel I made a good decision by opening the app,’ said Rohith Subramaniam.

NASA releases Stunning Cassini Image

Posted [relativedate] at [relativetime time_format=”H:i”]

NASA has released a stunning image of Saturn and its marvelous rings and moons. It was captured by the Cassini spacecraft during the last leg of its twenty long year epic journey in space. It was indeed a stunning farewell to Saturn.

This year, in the month of September 13th, the spacecraft took a series of images which are assembled into a mosaic. Cassini’s wide-angle camera collected 42 different red, blue and green images covering the planet and its main rings from one part to the other end.

Scientists tried to make a natural color view of these multiple images in different colors. The scene also includes moons Prometheus, Janus, Pandora, Epimetheus, Enceladus, and Mimas.

For some team associates, it was all too easy to receive new images from the Saturn system on daily basis, seeing new sights, watching things change, while for many others, Cassini’s farewell to Saturn is reminiscent of another parting from long ago.

Launched in the year 1997, the spacecraft Cassini orbited Saturn from 2004 to 2017. This mission made so many dramatic discoveries, which include geologic activity on Saturn’s moon Enceladus and liquid methane sea’s on Saturn’s largest moon, Titan.

The imaging team planned a special farewell view of Saturn for years, finally, it came to an end, and many shared it was difficult to say goodbye. On September 15th with a dramatic plunge into Saturn’s atmosphere, Cassini ended its journey, returning unique scientific data until it lost contact with Earth.
