Karnataka Assembly Elections On May 12th

Karnataka is all set to go for its State Assembly elections on May 12. The Election Commission of India called for a press meet early in the morning. In the press meet, it is released the notification for the Karnataka Assembly elections. The elections will be conducted for the 224-member House that is to expire on May 28th, 2018.

The Karnataka Election results will be declared on May 24, according to the notification. With the release of election notification, the ‘Model Code of Conduct’ is now in force in the state. This restricts the government from initiating any social welfare schemes, aimed at wooing the voters. Last year Congress won 122 seats out of the 224 seats, forming the majority. Even this time around, Congress is expected to win between 126 – 130 seats, and form the government.

Meanwhile, Chief Election Commissioner Om Prakash Rawat reacting to Amit Malviya’s tweet said, ‘certain things may have leaked for which EC will take appropriate action. It will be investigated. Be assured that actions legally and administratively befitting will be taken’. The response comes in reference to the tweet from BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya, who tweeted the Karnataka Assembly elections days ahead of ECI.

This is the first time, a damage of this size has taken place due to a rocket launch. In its survey, C-fore predicted that Congress will win around 126 seats in the upcoming Karnataka Assembly elections, with BJP to bag around 70 seats. Deve Gowda’s JD(S) is likely to be limited to 27 seats.

In the 2013 Karnataka Assembly elections, Congress won 122 seats, BJP won 40 seats, and JD(S) winning 40 seats. The survey has once again pointed out the fact that, the downfall of BJP is looming.

‘Chandrayan 1’ is one of the most successful space missions in the history of human mankind. Especially given its cost, and the technology available with India at that time. The ‘Chandrayan 1’ probe managed to key significant data during its lifetime. It also collected evidence that proves the presence of water on Moon. Since then, the entire nation has been waiting for Chandrayan 2 mission.

Talking to the reporters at the Chennai Airport, Dr K Sivan (ISRO Chairman) stated that, ‘the launch (of Chandrayan 2) was initially scheduled for next month. But it is postponed for technical reasons. Experts have suggested some key changes. The mission is re-scheduled for launch in October’.

The ‘Chandrayan 2’ will comprise of a lander and a rover. The total mass of the lander and the rover is 1250 Kg. All the tests with respect to the lander and the rover been conducted,’ said an official from ISRO.

‘Chandrayan 1’ was launched on 22nd October 2008. The probe entered into lunar orbit on 8th November 2008. Though the mission lasted for 10 months (of its 2 years lifespan), scientists declared that the mission was 95% successful. ISRO thought the probe might have crashed in 2012. But, it was found in the lunar orbit even in 2016.

The people of Hyderabad are expected to see electric vehicles on the roads of Hyderabad, going by the latest announcement from Telangana Minister KTR. Speaking in the assembly today, he said that, electric vehicles will be a reality in Hyderabad.

‘We are trying to encourage electric vehicle usage in Hyderabad in the coming few years. This will be done in multiple phases. Hyderabad is a great city, and there is no denial in that. At the same time, pollution has become a major problem in the city.

To reduce carbon emissions, and move towards a cleaner Hyderabad the government has taken by this initiative. We are working with different companies to see how we can implement this idea. At the same time, the government is also committed to development other cities in Telangana.

Rs 1000 crores have been allocated for development in 43 cities (in Telangana). We are also setting up a Waste Treatment Plant in Warangal and Hyderabad. In the next four years, we want to make Hyderabad the best city in India’, said KCR.He also stated that the government is going to build 826 modern bus shelters for people’s convenience by this year-end.

Indian National Congress led by Rahul Gandhi is coming in competition with YSRCP and TDP over the no-confidence motion. It is known that, from last one week, both YSRCP and TDP MPs were trying to move the no-confidence motion in Lok Sabha. As soon as the house (Lok Sabha) is commencing, TRS and AIDMK MPs are creating ruckus by barging into the well.

This is forcing the Speaker to adjourn the house till 12:00 pm, within minutes after it started. With a similar scene repeating even at 12:00 pm, the house is being adjourned without carrying any business. In that context, both YSRCP and TDP have been giving no-confidence motion notices every day. Joining these two parties in Congress.

The leader of Opposition and Congress MP Mallikarjun Kharge sent notice to Lok Sabha Secretary General stating that he would be moving the no-confidence motion in Lok Sabha on 27th March 2018. The recent move from Congress was least expected according to political analysts.It will be interesting to see whether Congress can succeed in moving its no-confidence motion.
