In a shocking incident that took place in Azim Nagar, a small village close to the city of Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, a man named Khasim has reportedly divorced his wife, Gul Afshan by saying ‘Talaq, Talaq, Talaq’, because she woke up a bit late in the morning. The woman immediately rushed to the police station and informed them of the incident.

This incident was referred by Minister of Law and Justice, Ravi Shankar Prasad in the parliament. Ravi Shankar Prasad also stated that ‘even after the Supreme Court has given judgement against triple Talaq, hundreds of cases of this kind are seeing light. We need to work for the development of the society.’ He requested not to see the movie as a ‘vote bank’ politics by any party.

India on Thursday successfully test-fired an indigenously developed advanced air defense supersonic interceptor missile. This missile is capable of destroying an incoming ballistic missile at a lower altitude.

The missile successfully hit an incoming ballistic missile head-on at an altitude of 35km. This test was carried out from a test range in the country’s eastern state of Odisha, officials said.

The defense sources claimed after the test launch that it was a direct hit and it was a grand success. The test was carried out to authenticate various parameters of the interceptor in flight mode and it was all success.

The interceptor is a 7.5-meter long single stage solid rocket propelled guided missile which is equipped with a navigation system, a hi-tech computer, and an electromechanical aviator said the sources.

It also has its own secure data link for interception, independent tracking, mobile launcher, and homing capabilities and sophisticated radars.

This year, this was the third supersonic interceptor test which was carried by India, in which an incoming ballistic missile target was successfully intercepted. Earlier as well, similar tests were conducted in the months of February and March, respectively.

A big controversy broke out on Wednesday, December 27, around Facebook prompting new users to fill their name according to their Aadhaar card details. But all of a sudden, the social media giant has come out with the clarification that they have no such plans of going ahead with this method.

Facebook stated in a blog post, “Some have interpreted this test as a request for people’s Aadhaar information when you sign for a Facebook account. But this is not correct. The test, that is finished now, merely includes national language on the account sign-up page to explain that using Aadhaar name will help family and friends recognize them.

Facebook re-confirmed, that they are not keen on collecting Aadhaar data and do not require people to enter their Aadhaar name when they sign up to the Facebook.

The goal of this test is only to make the new users understand how to sign up with their real name and connect with their friends and family. Facebook with these tests may learn new things that help them provide better sign-up experience for new users, as such they have no plans to roll this test out further.

Minster of Law and Justice, Ravi Shankar Prasad made a key announcement in the Parliament. The Cabinet Minister responded after the TRS MPs demanded the partition of the Joint High Court. The TRS MPs alleged that prejudice is being shown towards Telangana in the appointing High Court Judges. They also stressed the fact that, according to the bifurcation bill, Telangana should be having a separate high court.

Responding to these comments, Cabinet Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said, ‘We need to setup the Andhra Pradesh High Court in their new capital. I was informed by AP CM Chandrababu about the availability of four buildings to accommodate the high court establishment temporarily. I asked the Hon’ble Chief Justice of the High Court to approve one of the building.

Though we can transfer the High Court on a temporary basis, it would take a long time to set up a high court permanently. I request both the states to be patient and be loving towards each other until then. And moreover, the appointment of judges is made by a collegium. ‘

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh TDP MP, Sujana Chowdary expressed his displeasure over the comments made by TRS MPs. ‘Partition of Joint High Court isn’t the only issue here. There are many more issues like Special Status, Reimbursing Revenue deficit, and much more that needs to be addressed’.

Sushma said, “When I spoke to Jadhav’s mother, she told me that as soon as she reached, Kulbhushan asked her ‘Baba Kaise hain?’ because he saw no mangalsutra on his mother. Jadhav also thought some mishap might have taken place in his absence.

Sushma said that his mother was not allowed to speak in Marathi. She said two Pakistani officials were present in the meeting who kept stopping her repeatedly but when she continued, they switched off the intercom.

She said the meeting turned into an exercise of propaganda and an opportunity to exploit the situation. Sushma also spoke about Jadhav’s wife’s shoes being removed for ‘security reasons’ before the meeting in Pakistan.

Sushma concluded saying the treatment the mother and wife received is nothing like a humanitarian gesture, “Human rights of the family members have violated again and again an environment of fear was created for them,” she said. Sushma ended her address saying, she condemns such shameful behavior by Pakistan and will not take it silently and will expose their utterly disgusting behavior.

All parties endorsed the statement and are in complete agreement with the External Affairs Minister on this issue.

After Metro, it is Monorail | TS Govt. decides to construct Monorail in IT Corridor

Monorail in IT Corridor

Posted [relativedate] at [relativetime time_format=”H:i”]

After the prestigious Hyderabad Metro Rail, the ‘City of Jewel’s, Hyderabad will be home to Monorail project. Wait! What is Monorail in the first place? What is the difference between Metro Trail and Monorail? Will the commuters be troubled because of its construction? What is its route map? To know about these and many more, continue reading.

Need for Monorail

After Ivanka Trump praised Hyderabad for its biryani and culture, many have expressed their anguish that the US President’s daughter is lucky not to get caught in Hyderabad traffic. With the ever-increasing population in Hyderabad, the chaotic traffic situation is getting worse day by day. In 2011 the number of vehicles was 228, and in 2016 it jumped to 364 per thousand people.

It should be noted that Hyderabad has reached the ‘Grid Lock’ situation a few years back. Gridlock is a type of traffic jam condition, where all the vehicles block an entire networking of transportation system in a given geographical region. Traffic entering the main roads through intersecting streets and lanes become stand still. This is pretty common in metro cities around the world.

To overcome this problem of severe traffic congestion, many governments improve the transportation infrastructure. Similarly, the Telangana State transport authority has taken measures to overcome the traffic woes of the citizens. The government has carried out road-extension works, construction of flyovers and recently completed Hyderabad Metro Rail project. Soon, the Monorail will also be the party of cities Transportation network, with an aim to reduce the traffic woes.

What is a Monorail?Monorail in IT Corridor

Though the term ‘Monorail’ describes various rail systems through the 19th and 20th century and into the 21st century, the current definition says; Monorail is an elevated railway system. There wouldn’t be any tracks. Instead, the locomotive (or the train) straddles through the reinforced concrete beam which is usually 2 to 3 feet wide.

Each wagon of the Monorail has 4 major rubber tyres and 12-15 smaller tyres that help the locomotive to straddle smoothly with less friction. Given that the Monorail can be constructed on a single pillar and concrete beams, it is highly cost-effective and also requires less area for construction.

Modern Monorails are usually powered by electric motors or electrified channels attached to the beams.

Monorail v/s Metro RailMonorail in IT Corridor by The Telanga State Government

Though they aren’t many stark differences between Monorail and Metro Rail, few critical differences need to be understood before proceeding further.

  1. Monorails run on a single beam, while Metro Rails run more like a conventional ‘train’ on a specially designed railway track.
  2. Monorails are less complex in terms of technology and feature when compared to Metro
  3. Monorails operate at lower speed, as they straddle (except Maglev Trains).
  4. Monorails are usually operated between end-to-end point, or in a loop. While Metro Trains do involve in complex interchanges.
  5. Monorail carries less number of people per hour, meaning small stations can accommodate the flow of commuters.
  6. Length of a Monorail is shorter than metro rail.
  7. Monorails are usually meant for shorter distances and work in sections.
  8. Monorails can be constructed in minimal space, in contrast to Metro Trains which require large spaces.
  9. Construction of Monorails is faster and cheaper in comparison to Metro
  10. Monorails can pass through crowded streets, unlike Metro Trains.

Will it trouble the daily commuters?

Of course. Construction of any transportation system comes at the expense of commuter’s comfort. Though the construction of monorail is much faster, requiring minimal space, it is understood that the commuters will be facing increasing traffic delays, especially in the construction zones.

Given Monorail’s design of ‘One Pillar’ with reinforced concrete beams over them, the GHMC is hopeful that the traffic delays wouldn’t be as severe as it was in the case of Metro construction. Moreover, given the width of the pillar (less than 3 feet), the roads will more or less remain the same. The monorail is likely to be constructed in the IT corridor where we find spacious roads without any general groceries shops and other mid-range shopping entities. This not only gives the authorities to work at a full swing, but also greatly reduces the project time.

Given monorail’s ability to pass even through narrow lanes and streets, the construction shouldn’t be a problem even in densely populated residential areas.

Hyderabad Monorail Route MapMonorail in IT Corridor by The Telanga State Government

The Monorail project would comprise of three phases. Given the high density of Multinational and National companies in the IT corridor, the government stated that the first phase of the proposed Monorail project will be between Hitech City IT corridor and Miyapur, covering a distance of about 15 km. The proposed route is; Miyapur – Shilparamam – Gachibowli.

Given the traffic chaos in this region, the government authorities felt that monorail can serve as the best alternative in this region. Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao has agreed to the proposal of the authorities.

The Telangana State Government has chosen TSIIC (Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation) as the nodal agency for the Monorail project. Soon, a consulting firm will be set up to carry out a comprehensive study of the viability, challenges and other factors involved with the project. A report will be submitted to the TSIIC.

How will the government proceed with the project?

Initially, a thorough study will be carried out by a consulting firm set up exclusively for the project. Various technical issues, logistics, traffic density for 2021, 2031, and 2041, transportation pathway, architecture, project management authority, and other factors will be a part of the comprehensive study by the consulting firm.

Post the comprehensive study, the state government will decide whether to fund the project by the Government or carry out under the Private – Public Partnership model. The government is looking for a reputed national or international company in the construction field for the monorail project. Regarding the consulting firm, the TSIIC already issued a notification inviting consultancies for carrying out a comprehensive study on the project. Consultancy firms with an average turnover of Rs. 50 Crores annually are only eligible for bidding. The last for bidding is 4th of January 2018.

Gulf countries like UAE, Saudi, have not only aimed at higher education, they are also planning to impose VAT from 2018. This will apply to food, clothes, gasoline, phone, electronics, water, electricity bills and hostel bookings. Many other Gulf nations will follow suit very soon with their own VAT scheme in the coming years.

Both the nations plan to impose 5 percent tax in 2018 on most goods and services to boost revenue after oil prices collapsed since 2014. Elda Ngombe, a 23-year-old college graduate finds the VAT as crazy as the products are already expensive in Dubai and she plans to buy her makeup kit before the price hike.

There are some exemptions in relation to big-ticket costs like rent, real estate sales, certain medications, airline tickets and school tuition. Higher education will be taxed, in UAE, extra costs parents pay for school uniforms, books, school bus fees and lunch will also be taxed. The real estate brokerage costs for renters and buyers will be taxed too.

Stores, gyms, and other retailers are trying to lure the customers to buy before the hike, but many still believe the five percent hike is not as expensive when compared to Europe.

While salaries remaining the same, cost of living in UAE is expected to rise about 2.5 percent in 2018 because of theVAT. Foreigners are definitely going to be impacted by this change.

This incidence of a change happened out of India. Japanese police on Wednesday arrested a couple whose daughter froze to death in a tiny room. The girl was confined in that room since she was 16-years-old because they believed that she had a mental illness which made her violent.

Airi Kakimoto a 33-year-old woman, was found in a state of extreme malnutrition after her parents reported her death on Saturday. She was 145 cms tall and weighed just 19 kgs., according to the reports submitted by Western Japan’s Osaka Prefectural Police Department.

Police also said, Yasutaka Kakimoto, 55, and Yukari Kakimoto, 53, had confessed to having fed their daughter only once in a day and kept her in the 3-square-meter room over 15 years now.

According to police, the couple found their daughter dead on December 18 but they only reported it on Saturday. When asked why they did not reveal before, the couple was heard as saying “We wanted to be together with our daughter”.
