24+ Lakh votes removed in Hyderabad

As many as 24 Lakh votes have been removed in the city of Hyderabad. On the command of Election Commission of India, the State Election Commission carried out a door-to-door survey in 36 constituencies of Hyderabad. The commission has prepared the latest voters list on the basis of surveying 24 constituencies in the purview of GHMC – Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, few constituencies in the limits of Municipal Corporation and 2 rural constituencies.

As per the survey 24, 20, 244 votes have been removed by the officials from the previous voter’s list. 5, 82, 138 new voters have been added to the existing list.

The state election commission also released an official notification regarding any changes that need to be made. ‘If any voter has any query about their details in the voter’s list or absence of their name in the voter’s list, they should contact the state election commission before December 27th, 2017.’

The removal of 24+ lakhs votes in these constituencies in Hyderabad has become a subject of controversy among the political leaders.

The Indian-Hindu community leaders approached the administration of Texas A&M University to include 19 Hindu festivals in its Multi-Faith Calendar. ‘The university drafted a multi-faith calendar so as to avoid any important meetings or conferences during those days.

‘This not only helps the staff who hail from different communities to work on a common date, but also ensures that the students are not deprived of any privileges because of absence during the festive days,’ said Rajan Zed.

The proposed list of 19 Hindu festivals is; Diwali, Holi, Maha Shivaratri, Sri Krishna Janmashtami, Sri Rama Navami, Ganesh Chaturthi, Hanuman Jayanthi, Navarathri, Dusshera, Onam, Pongal, Chandramana Ugadi, Raksha Bandhan, Guru Purnima, Souramana Ugadi, Makara Sankranti, Vasant Panchami, Govardhan Puja and Naga Panchami.

The appeal includes the permission for students to be absent on these festive days and the inclusion of the list in the multi-faith calendar.

Rajan Zed expressed that, ‘Hinduism is rich in culture and heritage. We celebrate many festivals throughout the year. We believe that it is our duty and responsibility to ensure our Hindus get the privilege of celebrating our festivals wherever we are on this earth.’

The Texas A&M University is a public university, and it is founded in 1876. The university is home to 68,603 students who are studying in over 400 disciplines in the 5,200-acre campus.

After witnessing the rise in onion and tomato prices, the common man was forced to cry even without cutting an onion. The vegetable is one of the most common ingredients in every day’s food. The price of per kilogram of onion and tomato usually trades between Rs 25 – Rs 35 depending on the retailer’s store and the region. In the recent times, these prices touched Rs 70 and at times Rs 80 in the retail market.

The trade unions expressed that unseasonal rains and dry spells in the country damaged a large part of the crop which led to the widening of the gap between demand and supply. ‘The new crop of tomato and onion is currently sowed. Onion plantation has been going good in Maharashtra, the leading producer. We would get the yield in a couple of weeks, and the crop will reach the markets after 3-4 days. The prices will come down in the coming 15-20 days,’ said a farmer.

Various state governments have been working on the price-rise situation, and have stated that it is a ‘temporary’ problem and the situation will be back to normal pretty soon.

Right from kids to working people, using earphones become a culture. Whether they are in driving, or at home, we often find people plugged in with earphones. From hearing songs, lecture and even answering phone calls, earphone has become a must for anyone with a cellphone.

Similarly, a cow in Kothapally village, Maakloor Manda, Nizamabad district is fond of devotional songs. The cow goes by the name ‘Gowri’ in the locality. Gowri doesn’t hear any other songs except devotional songs.

According to its owner Srikanth, ‘There is a Rama temple in the village. Devotional songs are played from 4:30 to 6:30 in the morning. Gowri used to listen to the songs initially. Later, it used to leave the shed and go and sit in the temple premises and listen to the songs. On its way back to home, it used to thrash everything in its path. I was really worried seeing this.

One day I thought of a plan and got a memory card filled with devotional songs. The installed the memory card in a phone and tied the phone around Gowri’s (cow) neck. It stopped going to the temple. Gowri creates aruckus if she doesn’t get to hear the songs or any other songs are played.’

The cow hears devotional songs for 2 hours in the morning,1 hour in the afternoon and 2 hours in the evening.

In a shocking incident reported in the capital city of New Delhi, a father has allegedly raped his 15-year-old daughter. A family of three, comprising the father, mother and the girl were living in a small house in Jagathpuri, located in the east of Delhi. The incident came to light after her mother enquired the girl about the missing money in the house.

According to the police, ‘the girl’s mother went out for some work. She came back after a while. The mother noticed that some money has been missing in the house. When enquired, the girl stated that she used the money to buy some medicines. Upon questioning the 15-year-old girl, the barbaric act of sexual abuse came to light.’

‘The father has been allegedly raping the 15-year-old girl since last one year. The father raped the girl who was 14 14-years-old under the influence of alcohol. Since then, he has been repeatedly abusing the girl sexually when no one is at home. The father has reportedly threatened the girl not to tell about this to anyone. The girl has been admitted to the hospital for medical tests. We have taken the father into our custody,’ said the police.

Pregnant Women Dies by Escaping Rape Attempt

A pregnant woman reportedly jumped off from a moving van in order to escape a rape attempt by the driver and cleaner. The 35-year-old pregnant woman reportedly died after she jumped from the van. This shocking incident took place in Medak District of Telangana.

‘The woman was a 7-month pregnant. She used to sell old clothes. After the woman missed the state-run RTC bus, she apparently got into a van along with her 7-year-old daughter. After crossing a kilometer after the tollbooth, the driver and cleaner tried to molest her. In an attempt to protect her dignity, the pregnant woman jumped from the moving van.

The driver stopped the van and later forced the 7-year-old child to get down. The woman died before the villager’s notice and came to her rescue,’ said a police officer.

Speaking on this matter, inspector Lingeshwar Rao said that, ‘the woman’s daughter was not in a position to exactly tell what has happened. The CCTV footage showed that the woman’s bag was thrown first before she jumped. Later, the van stopped and then moved again.’

The family of the woman lodged a complaint in the police station. A case was filed and the investigation is underway.

Mudhragada Padmanabham who lead the Kaapu community movement always sought out opportunities to criticize and lash out Chandrababu Naidu whenever and wherever possible. Everyone knows about the multiple sessions conducted in Late director’s Dasari Narayana Rao house that saw Mudhragada, Megastar Chiranjeevi, Congress leader Pallamraju, YSRCP leader Ambati Rambabu setting deadlines over the Kaapu reservation movement to the CM.

Mudhragada also stated that he would prostrate at the feet of Chandrababu Naidu (padhaabhi – vandanam) if the latter grants Kaapu Reservation and special quota. This year’s ‘Heartwork Tattoo Convention’ being held in New Delhi at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium saw 105 Tattoo artists from around the globe. Of them all, Steve Butcher from New Zealand grabbed all eyeballs.

The tattoo artist is often labelled as ‘most expensive’ in the world. He charges a staggering sum of $3000 (or Rs. 1.9 Lakh) for a Tattooing session. He is best known for tattoo faces of different global artists. According to Steve, ‘I already tattooed the face of Pop Singer Michael Jackson on one of my client’s leg. My client would again turn up tomorrow for a second tattoo of Boxer Muhammad Ali on his other leg.’

Steve Butcher has been the special attraction at this year’s Heartwork Tattoo Convention. Over 105 artists, with 25 international faces representing the US, UK, Germany and many other countries will be a part of this convention until Sunday. The 3-day convention started on December 1st (Friday) and will end on December 3rd (Sunday).

External Affairs Ministry Sushma Swaraj made an unexpected stopover at Teheran, the capital city of Iran. Sushma’s visit comes as a surprise to the Indian and Iranian officials, with the strategic Chabahar Port inauguration one day away. Sushma met her counterpart Javed Zarif during a luncheon on her way back from Russia.

Sushma Swaraj was coming from Sochi, after attending the SCO – Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit. The External Affairs ministry stated that the counterparts spoke in length and details about trade, global and regional developments of mutual interests. Sushma Swaraj and Javed Zarif had also discussed on the bilateral relations between the two nations.

Though not confirmed, it is believed that the aspect of the strategic Chabahar Port has been of prime importance between the leaders.

The Chabahar Port is located in South-Eastern Iran, in the Gulf of Oman. The port helps India to bypass Pakistan and establish a strategic transit route among Afghanistan, Iran and India. The port is expected to boost trade relations between India – Afghanistan and India – Iran.

The Chabahar Port will be inaugurated tomorrow by Hassan Rouhani, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the presence of officials and representatives from Afghanistan and India.

The Income-tax officials cracked down a nexus between the medical test centres and doctors. The IT sleuths recovered nearly Rs 1.4 in cash and 3.5 kg of jewellery and bullion during the raids on few diagnostic centres and IVF Clinics.

‘During our searches, we found out that referral doctors receive as much as 35% for MRI scans and 20% for CT Scans and other tests performed at the diagnostic centre. Interestingly, the diagnostic centres disguised these payments as marketing expenses in their audit books,’ said IT officials who carried out the raids.

The nexus between medical test centres and doctors is long-known and existing. Many diagnostic centres also employ commission agents who the key in the whole transaction. These agents deliver the payments to doctors in an envelope along with the details of the referred patients, their bill and other details.

While the search resulted in unearthing undisclosed amount close to Rs 100 crore, the referral amount in case of a particular lab was Rs 200 crores. These discoveries not only expose the links between doctors and diagnostic centres in the medicalmafia but also shed light on new areas of black money havens within the society.

Fishermen recall their experience at sea inside Cyclone Ockhi

The Indian Navy, Coast Guard and National Management Disaster Authority (NMDA) stated that they have rescued over 233 fishermen along the coasts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

‘All these fishermen went for the catchinto the turbulent sea. The fishermen knew that a storm was in their way. But they were definitely not aware that it intensifies into a severe Cyclone. They were left strangled in the middle of the sea. They were caught inside the Cyclone Ockhi which intensified before it made a landfall in Lakshadweep Islands,’ said a Navy official.

A fisherman who is currently being treated at a local hospital shared his experience. ‘I have never seen such dangerous waves even in movies. Cyclone Ockhi was truly a nightmare for every one of us in the sea. With blue water in our foresight, and heavy winds and giant waves tossing us, we begged for help. We never believed we would make it to the shore alive,’ said the fisherman.

Meanwhile, the families of the fishermen were anxiously waiting for their husbands and brothers who had gone into the sea for the catch. The families are yet to meet the fishermen. ‘Our boats were drifted as far as 100 km because of the raging sea’ said a fisherman.

14 people have been reported dead due to the Ockhi Cyclone.
