After the Indian spinners, Ashwin and Jadeja ripped the Sri Lankan batting line up on the first day of the 2^nd test, the visitors were made to work on the 2^nd day. The Lankan bowlers only managed to pick up 1 wicket after bowling 90 overs in the day. They had conceded 311 runs on the 2^nd day of the 2^nd test. At the end of the 2^nd day, India were 312/2 and are currently leading by 107 runs with 8 wickets remaining in the 1^st innings.

After Rahul went cheaply for 7 runs towards the end of the 1^st day, Pujara and Vijay steadied the Indian ship. Both went on to score centuries and formed a 209 –run-partnership for the 2^nd wicket. Vijay scored 128 runs, while Pujara is still batting in the crease at 121*. The Indian Skipper, Virat Kohli is currently batting at 54*.

Vijay got out to a full-toss from Rangana Herath after he lost his control while trying to sweep the ball.

Though the day started with a good spell from the Sri Lankan bowlers in the first hour, they were left high and dry with the Indian batsman showing their resilience. Kohli’s 54 came off just 70 balls at an intimidating strike rate of 77.14 with 6 boundaries to his name.

Reports of Gunshots, forced Oxford Circus Tube Station closed

Armed police stepped in and two central London underground stations have closed and reopened following reports of gunshots being fired at Oxford Circus tube station.

Police said they found no evidence of any gunshots being fired or any weapons used. Police want to speak to those two men after an altercation “erupted” on a platform at the station.

Reports also confirm that police wanted to speak to people who were at the station at the time when the mass panic and evacuation took place. They are trying their best to find the reasons for chaos in the station.

In the incident, more than 16 people were injured when they tried to flee the station. They were all given first aid treatment.

Oxford Circus was initially closed and armed police were deployed immediately after reports saying gunshots had been heard inside the Circus Tube Station.

Initially, the officials took the incident as a possible terror act. Amidst fears, nearby Bond Street Station was also closed due to fear of overcrowding.

The CCTV images of two men are released by police officials to the public to get more clues in the matter, as the British Transport Police (BTP) said officers believe there was an altercation between two men on the platform before the scare. While ‘Met’ Police said they received numerous 999 calls at the hour of panic.

After the bifurcation of the state of Andhra Pradesh, the Telugu Film Industry was caught in the midst of the political events. The AP State Government announced that it is taking all the necessary steps to bring the film industry to the capital of Andhra Pradesh, Amaravati.

In a recent internal survey conducted by the government and TDP party, they state government understood that many producers and heroes are willing to set-up new studios in Amaravati, promising that the government gives them surplus lands at highly subsided rates.

Meanwhile, commenting on the survey, it is heard that Chandrababu asked the filmmakers to first carry out shootings in and around Amaravati premises. Post that, the government would give them the required lands. While the prominent people in the film industry asked the government to first give the lands for the studio’s construction. Chandrababu raised the issue of Visakhapatnam in this reference. ‘Hundreds of acres were given to big production houses for construction of studios. Except for Ramanaidu Studios, there is no other studio in the beach-city’ said Chandrababu.

This lead to a tiff situation between the Telugu Film Industry and the AP State Government. Only time can tell which side would make the first move. Will the filmmaker say ‘Start, Camera Rolling, Action’? or the state government will give the lands for the studios!

Donal Trump who is well known for his offensive-strategy has made a fool out of himself this time. In his recent Twitter post, Trump tweeted that, “Time Magazine called to say that I was PROBABLY going to be named “Man (Person) of the Year,” like last year, but I would have to agree to an interview and a major photo shoot. I said probably is no good and took a pass. Thanks anyways!”

This tweet immediately drew flak from the Twitter users. One individual went on to say, ‘The pages in TIME Magazine are not big enough to hold your EGO anyway’. While others even lashed at his English speaking ability.

The fire erupted after the IAF Kiran trainer aircraft of the IAF crashed on Friday immediately after taking off from Hakimpet. A 22-year-old woman trainee pilot was inside the craft. She managed to escape miraculously when the Kiran Mark-I aircraft of the Indian Air Force, that crashed close to the busy Rajiv Rahadari Highway on Friday afternoon in Siddipet district.

Passers-by on the highway came to the help of the Sakshi Rehana the trainee pilot, by calling the IAF command control room and also the ambulance after the crash.

Except for the Sukhoi Su-30, all other Indian Air Force fighter aircraft are older than the pilots who fly them.

As per police reports, the aircraft took off from its base at Hakimpet at around 12 pm on a routine flight. While flying across Duddeda in Siddipet district, it is understood the aircraft developed a technical snag and the pilot lost control. She fell in the open area in the process of ejecting from the aircraft. The aircraft crashed around 100 meters away from where she landed, said V Shiva Kumar, Siddipet Police Commissioner.

According to the commissioner, the aircraft broke into two parts on impact and then caught fire. The parts of the craft were scattered all over the place and some were totally burnt too. It is noted that the trainee sustained injuries on her legs and was given first aid and airlifted back to base, said the police.

Over the last few months, efforts have been going on to trace missing children. So far, 500 missing children have been traced through Aadhaar card, the CEO of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), Ajay Bhushan Pandey, Said in a news report.

According to him, total Aadhaar base stands at 1.19 billion with 99% of adults having it.

Addressing a session at the Global Conference on Cyberspace (GCCS) 2017, he said that over last few months more than 500 missing children have been located using Aadhaar card. Explaining further on this, he said this happened in incidents where a child is found in an orphanage underwent Aadhaar enrolment. “It was found that their 12 digits biometric identifier had already been made, through which they were able to trace”. Pandey said.

He was also seen joking about Bollywood movies where the siblings get separate and reunite after decades would now have to be reworked with Aadhaar in the picture.

It is to be noted that India stands among the nations which have the largest number of children in the world. It is about 40% of the 1.2 billion population is below the age group of 18, as per 2011 census.

Pandey, concluded, at the session that, Digital Identity for all has helped remove ghosts and duplicates from the system and also, saved around $10 billion due to its linkages to various government schemes.

It was not one crore or two crores but a multi-crore effort without any palpable results due to a large number of legislators missing in the assembly. The winter session of the legislature which concluded here on Friday cost the exchequer a huge amount of Rs. 35 crores for just ten days.

This year winter session, started on an embarrassing note with the assembly having to be adjourned, for some time due to lack of minimum number of legislators on day one on Nov.13, which reflected disinterest of ministers and legislators. A large number of legislators presented themselves occasionally or not seen at all.

The winter session in Karnataka state assembly was to be held from November 13, for 10 days at Suvarna Vidhan Soudha near Halga to pass many key bills. According to reports, it is worthy to note the point, all hotel lodging reservations made for the required staff, MLA’s, MLC’s and their secretariat staff etc., not only caused annoyance to the common public but also incurred huge losses to the government as absentees are high in this session.

For VIPs, Fairfield by Marriot is booked every year and the same system is followed this year too. It is estimated that roughly 100 plus rooms must have been booked to accommodate the legislators. Looks like no one has an inkling at whose expense the money is getting wasted and also no work getting accomplished.

Deadly Explosion Kills 235 in North Sinai, Mosque- Egypt

In an explosion, that killed 235 worshippers and injuring more than 109 struck a mosque in Egypt’s northern Sinai on Friday. This incident happened right after the Friday prayers in the al-Rawda village, west of El- Arish.

News, reports showed, right after the explosion, at least four gunmen in four off-road vehicles opened fire at the worshippers praying in the Mosque.

Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah al –Sisi declared three days mourning period and pledged to ‘respond with brutal force’. It was a black day in Egypt on Friday when the country witnessed the deadliest attack in recent history. The President chaired an emergency meeting with officials to review the situation after the deadly explosion.

So far no one or group claimed any responsibility for the deadly assault. The military came into action and have launched security campaigns in the area, few suspects have been arrested. Houses belonging to terrorists have been demolished, which included those enabling tunnels that lead to the Gaza Strip.

Egypt, this year had been experiencing a series of terror attacks which claimed lots of lives.

In the meantime, US President Donald Trump condemned the attack as “horrible and cowardly”. Also, Prime Minister Narendra Modi too condemned the attack and extended his deep condolences at the loss of so many innocent lives, and India stands with the people and government of Egypt.

The protests against the release of ‘Padmavathi’ film have completely taken a drastic turn. Non-Ahimsa protests have taken the face of violence in the past few days. According to the latest report, a man’s body was found hanging on the wall of the Nahar Fort in Jaipur. A suicide note is also found near the dead body.

It is written, ‘We are not going to behead anyone. Instead, we give up our lives’. Many people have expressed suspicion over the death of the man. The local police are investigating the case from different angles. It is rumoured that someone might have actually killed the person and hanged him on the wall of the Nahar Fort.

If it is found that the death of the man is a suicide and not homicide, it could build serious tensions which might eventually trigger widespread riots and violence.

Clarifying on this incident, the Rajput Karni Sena issued a statement. ‘We are nowhere related to this incident. We can only express our deep condolences to the family of the deceased’, read a press note from the Karni Sena.

The security near the residences of Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Deepika Padukone has been beefed up.

The UK Film Board issued the film a certificate for its release in Britain without any cuts. The production unit is planning to release the film in the UK on December 1^st. The production unit has not announced any release date of ‘Padmavathi’ in India after its initial release date, 1^st December was postponed.

The basic structure of a Telugu film is greatly limited by; 3 Fights, 6 Comedy Scenes, 6 Songs and few romantic scenes. If any film dares to miss anyone of the above, the film undeniably fails at the box office. Even critically acclaimed films need to have the above elements to have a decent run at the box office. No hero comes forward to do any sort of experimental films. In such environment, Akkineni Nagarjuna stands out to be unique and special. He is known for taking up different projects. One such film is ‘Gaganam’. Though the film received critical acclaim, it did not have a good box office rune.

The latest buzz in the industry is that the upcoming film in Nagarjuna – RGV combo would be on the similar lines of ‘Gaganam’. If that happens to be true, there would be no scope for any commercial elements to be a part of the film. Trade analysts have already expressed that such film would be a disaster at the box office, given today’s production costs. But it looks like Nagarjuna is having full faith and confidence in RGV abilities.

It is also heard that, if the film fails at the box office, Nagarjuna can at least take away the credit for doing a ‘good movie’. Even before the film has gone into full-fledged production, negative talks are surrounding it. This could have a great impact on the film. The action flick is slated to release for the 2018 Summer.

Nara Rohit is one hero who continued doing films irrespective of the hit and flop ratio. He is often known for his selection of unique films. His recent film, ‘Balakrishnudu’ released today. Let us see whether he has fared well or failed at the box office!

Story:

The film is set in the Rayalaseema region which is known for its factionists. Many people are killed in the name of faction by factionist leaders and groups. The two siblings, Ravinder Reddy (Aditya Menon) and Bhanumathi (Ramya Krishna) from Kurnool aim to change the mindset of the people. They both work together and develop the village. They stand as support to the people in the village. Ravinder Reddy’s counterpart, BC Reddy gets jealous over the former’s popularity and admiration in the village. He tries to stop the noble activities being carried out by Ravinder Reddy. Knowing this, Ravinder Reddy humiliates BC Reddy in front of the villagers. Unable to take humiliation, BC Reddy commits suicide. Soon, BC Reddy’s son Prathap Reddy (Ajay) and his group kill Ravinder Reddy.

Bhanumathi who is raged over the death of her brother starts killing each and every one in Prathap Reddy group. Realizing his death is inevitable, Prathap Reddy surrenders to the police. During his stint in the jail, Prathap Reddy plans the death of Bhanumathi’s niece Aadhya (Regina). On knowing this, Bhanumathi employs Balu (Nara Rohit) as Aadhya’s bodyguard. Balu develops a close relationship with Aadhya without letting her know who he is. Meanwhile, Prathap Reddy gets released from the jail earlier than thought for his good conduct. The rest of the story is how Prathap Reddy planned to kill Aadhya, how did Balu manage to save her from Prathap Reddy and what is the final conclusion of the movie.

Analysis:

Nara Rohit’s physical appearance comes as a surprise. Except for few scenes and songs where he is seen sporting a six-pack, he looks chubby for the rest of the film. Nara Rohit failed to impress the audience with his dance and fights. Things went so bad for him that, Regina had more screen time in the song before the pre-climax. The whole film revolves around Regina’s Aadhya character. She has done justice for her role in the film.

Though Ramya Krishna character seemed like it is a lot of depth, it slows deteriorates with the runtime. Ajay who has acted as the main villain failed to show ‘new mannerisms’ in the film. Prudhvi (30-years Industry) is the only one who has to be credited in the film. With his impeccable timing and dialogue delivery, he manages to entertain the audience for a good while. Vennela Kishore, Raghubabu, Srinivas Reddy and others performed their roles decently well.

The film is a complete letdown form the director Pavan Mallela. There was nothing new in the whole film. The story, narration, and screenplay seemed very routine. Mani Sharma’s troubles as music director continue even with this film. On the whole, Nara Rohit wholeheartedly disappointed his fans and audience by acting in a routine and a boring movie.

The film ‘Devi Sri Prasad’ clearly represents the new trend of filmmaking in Telugu Film Industry. The whole concept of the film revolves around a single point; Sex with a dead body. If a director approached a producer with this kind of concept a decade ago, he would be immediately necked-out of the office. But it is really a gutsy move from the director to come out with such a strong ‘negative point’. The film is loosely based on a Korean movie.

Story:

The film opens with three friends; Devi, Sri, and Prasad. Devi works as an auto driver, while Sri works in a hospital as ward boy and Prasad runs a tea stall. Each has a different characterization in the film. Devi by nature is ‘wild’ guy. Sri is more like a ‘go with the wind’ type while Prasad seems to be the ‘good guy’ in the film. All the three friends like the heroine ‘Leela’. After they come to know that their favourite heroine is participating in a shooting nearby they go to the location. Later they come to know that Leela has died in an accident.

The heroine’s dead body will be brought to the hospital where Sri is working. Sri informs the same to Devi and Prasad. On seeing Leela (dead body) from a very close distance, pervert thoughts occupy the mind of Devi. Suddenly Leela comes to life. The rest of the story is about how Leela came to life, what has happened and how do the lives of these three friends turn out to be.

Analysis

The film revolves around the basic thought of, ‘there is no security for women even after their death’. The director chose to tell this serious subject in a unique and different manner. We can say, the director has been successful in expressing what he wanted to tell. When the film’s script revolves around a crime story, it is very important to have a logical explanation for the most part. But the director clearly moves too far away from logic. The best part of the whole film is its run-time. Being a 90-minute feature film, it’s crisp and paced. One has to appreciate the director’s effort in making the film with just 5 characters.

Bhupal, Dhanraj, and Manoj Nandan as Devi, Sri, and Prasad have done justice to their roles. Pooja Ramachandran played the character of ‘Leela’. The heroine managed to perform well in her role. Kraman’s music helps in elevating the mood of the film, and Cinematography from Phanindra Varma seems decent. Few dialogues from the film surely accompany us till home. Sekhar Vikyath has written the dialogues for the film.

Ram Gopal Varma is well known for his controversial and provoking comments on the film industry. Though it is rare, he does express his opinion about trending issues in the society. The arrival of Ivanka is the latest buzz that has captured the attention of the entire nation, and especially the Telugu states.

Everyone in print and electronic media, websites and social networking sites are busy discussing Ivanka’s attire and the lavish lunch planned by the Telangana State Government.

Even Ram Gopal Varma commented on the same after he compared his enthusiasm of seeing Ivanka to that of seeing Sunny Leone. His recent comment raised many eyebrows in the TRS party. In his post, he stated that ‘Ivanka thinks she is beautiful. I am sure Ivanka who is very proud of her beauty will be shocked to see how beautiful KCR is. Everyone at the Global Summit would hardly give a look at Ivanka if she and KCR sit next to each other’.

He further went on to say, ‘Ivanka should be awarded 3-Special Nandi Jury Awards for; Best Family Watchable Beauty, Most Beautiful International Leader, and International Beauty’.

Producer Bandla Ganesh sentenced to 6-month jail

Bandla Ganesh was popularly known for playing small roles in various films including B-grade movies. Later, he turned out to be a producer. He has even produced films of star heroes like Pawan Kalyan, Jr. NTR, Ram Charan, Ravi Teja and Allu Arjun. In the recent times, Bandla Ganesh was nowhere to be seen. It is heard that he is facing a financial crunch.

Things just got much worse for him. He has been sentenced to a 6-month jail term and is fined Rs. 15 lakhs by a local Magistrate Court in Hyderabad. The case was filed by Vakkantham Vamsi. In his petition, Vakkantham Vamsi claimed that the producer Bandla Ganesh has not paid him the dues. ‘Bandla Ganesh agreed to pay me Rs. 25 Lakhs for giving the ‘Temper’ movie script. He issued a cheque of the same value. The check got bounced. Whenever I tried to approach him, he never responded. I had no other option but to take a legal course’.

Though the court has sentenced Bandla Ganesh to 6-month Jail, Bandla Ganesh wouldn’t be going to jail. It is learned that he has already procured a bail. He is likely to pay the fine at the earliest to avoid further legal hassles.
