‘Makkal Needhi Maiam’ founder and Tamil Superstar Kamal Hasan made sensational comments over the idea of ‘immediate’ banning of liquor in the state of Tamil Nadu. The actor-turned-politician, who established the party, is coming out with the party’s modalities.

Addressing the media, Kamal Hassan said, ‘if need to go on searching if you want to go to a post office in Tamil Nadu. Whereas, you can find Tasmac (state-sponsored liquor stores) everywhere. There is a need to change this entire system.’

Kamal Hassan’s clarification on the sale of liquor came at a time when the opposition parties are calling for an ‘immediate’ ban on liquor in the state. In his column to Tamil Magazine ‘Ananda Vikatan’, Kamal Hassan expressed that, ‘it is impossible to make everyone in the society hate liquor. If you intend to completely abolish something with an immediate effect, it will give rise to the mafia. We have already witnessed such kind of events in the past.

Drinking liquor is not like playing gambling. One’s body will not cooperate if they suddenly stop drinking liquor. It should be a gradual process. The parties are coming up with the ‘ban liquor’ slogan to only woo the female voters. I am more worries about liquor shops in and around educational institutions.’

Speaking on sops and free welfare schemes, Kamal said that, we cannot continue promising ‘free’ welfare scheme for a longer time. We need to find alternatives to improve the purchasing power of the people. Improving educational standard is one of the key motives of our party, said Kamal Hassan.

Nirav Modi’s company Firestar Diamond Inc. filed for bankruptcy protection in a US Court. In its court papers, the company stated that many buyers were interested to purchase the company. 

Between 2011 and 2017, Nirav Modi secured loans worth thousands of crores through Punjab National Bank Mumbai branch through ‘Letter of Undertakings’ from various international credit agencies. After the scam was exposed, in addition to Nirav Modi and his uncle, it is learned that even top officials from PNB were involved in the $2 Billion scam.

Before the scam was exposed, Nirav Modi and his uncle, Mehul Choksi left India. In its court filing, Firestar Diamond Inc. said, “early expression of interest in purchasing some or all of the debtors’ business operations has been strong”. In other words, this means, companies have come forward to purchase Nirav Modi’s Firestar Diamond Inc.

Meanwhile, the CBI and other law enforcement agencies have attached various properties of Nirav Modi as a part of the case. The CBI has already arrested 13 people in this case. Of which, 7 are from the Punjab National Bank and 6 from the Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi’s companies. Nevertheless, it is really surprising to see US companies coming forward to purchase Firestar Diamond.

Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham head, Jagadguru Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya passed away today morning at around 9:00 am in ABCD Hospital, Kanchi while being treated. The doctors have reported that the Jagadguru has been suffering from breathing related issues from the past few years. According to his disciples, Jayendra Saraswathi seemed like he was recovering last night. But his condition got worse today morning.

Jayendra Saraswathi was born as Subramanyam Mahadev Iyer in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu on 18th July 1935. He is the 69thpontiff (or head) of the ‘Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham’, in Kanchi. He was awarded the pontifical title Sri Jayendra Saraswathi on 22nd March 1954 by Chandrasekhara Saraswathi Swamigal, as his successor.

The spiritual guru has millions of followers both in India and abroad. Film Celebrities, politicians, sports personnel, and other eminent personalities often visit him for his divine grace and holy blessings. The Kanchi trust runs many schools, orphanage homes, CHILDS Trust hospitals, Hindu Mission Hospital, eye clinics, hospitals, and many other welfare institutions.

Sri Jayendra Saraswathi contributed immensely towards Hinduism. The Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham was established by Sri Adi Shankara in 482 BC.

Telangana Chief Minister KCR reportedly escaped a threat today afternoon. KCR is on a 3-district tour in the state of Telangana. As a part of the tour, he was scheduled to leave to Murmur in Adilabad district. As he got into the helicopter, smoke started coming on. The CM was soon escorted down the helicopter, and the officials found that the smoke was coming out from the communication kit bag. It was soon taken away to a far place from the helipad site and was disposed-off.

After the mishap, the CM continued his journey to Murmur in Adilabad district. Speaking on the same, IT Minister KTR tweeted that, he spoke to the concerned officials about the incident, and assured that everything is fine. He further stated that the 3-district tour will continue as per the schedule.

After reaching Murmur, CM KCR laid the foundation stone for the Murmur Lift Irrigation project. Over 22,000 acres of land will be available for harvesting with this project. 20 villages in the Palakurthi Mandal will be benefitted from this project. The CM also inspected the Mission Bhagiratha Water Treatment plants.

The embalming process will begin very soon and it may take a couple of hours to complete the process.

The Public Prosecutor constituted a set of senior doctors and lawyers earlier today citing it has some doubts regarding the death of the Bollywood diva Sridevi. There were huge speculations running around like there could be the chances of the second autopsy but the Public Prosecutor has agreed to the report of the cause of death is by drowning in water. As per the report of the cops, Sridevi has lost consciousness and accidentally drowned in the bathtub which was filled with water.

As per the latest updates, it is known that the Boney Kapoor accompanied with some of his close aids has reached the embalming center and the proceedings might take 60-90 minutes to get the clearance from there. Following the embalming process, the mortal remains will be taken to the Dubai Airport and is expected to reach Mumbai by 10 p.m IST

The Chief Minister of AP, Chandrababu Naidu has completed 40 years as a Politician by today. Let us see the key points in this big long career.

Hailed from Kuppam, this Chanakya of AP Politics started his career as a Youth leader in his college days. He joined in Congress and won as an MLA on 27th February 1978 as Congress gave 20% reservation for Youth in Party tickets from Chandragiri Constituency. He became the youngest MLA in the history at the age of 27 years. Not stopping there, he became youngest Minister of the state at the age of 28 years. In the year 1980, he met the Telugu demi-God NTR while he is working as Cinematography Minister and married NTR’s third daughter Bhuvaneswari. Even though he is son in law for NTR, he faced rivalry with NTR in Politics but lost against him during the elections of 1982. CBN intelligently joined TDP leaving Congress as his past friends like YS Rajasekhara Reddy and others became his competitors in 1983. CBN raised in TDP like anything with the support of NTR even though other TDP leaders opposed him.

Keeping the internal politics of TDP aside, he became the CM of United AP in 1994 and again in 1999 in a row. He did proud things for Telugu region like Developing cities of Hyderabad, building a Hi-Tech city and IT Corridor etc. He brought MNCs like Microsoft, Infosys to AP in his regime and set the Government offices in right way with discipline. CBN also represented TDP as the second biggest party in India in BJP’s alliance in 2003 with 190 MLAs and 29 MP seats. In the same year, he faced a death attempt from Maoists in Alipiri near Tirupati.

He also became the longest Opposition leader of AP during Rajasekhar Reddy’s leadership from 2004 to 2013. CBN regained his power in 2014 with BJP and Janasena’s support after the bifurcation of AP. He

continued his record book by becoming the first CM of bifurcated AP. Let us hope he brings necessary grants and funds to AP and make it as one of the best states in India using his 40 years of experience in Politics.

India Railways is unarguably one of the world’s largest railway systems. It looks like the government-backed enterprise is focusing on filling vacant positions across various categories. The Indian railways announced employment for 89,500 posts. These include pilots, technicians, gangmen, switchmen, trackmen, cabin men, welders, helpers, porters and other.

The posts are announced for those with 10th graduation to Bachelors. Official sources revealed that over 1.2 Lakh posts are lying vacant exclusively in the security segment itself. A high-ranked officer in railways informed that yearly 40,000 – 45,000 people are retiring from railways. The Railways is estimated to bear a burden of Rs 4,000 crores with the new recruitments.

The 2016 – 2017 year saw an expenditure of Rs 69,713 crores, while 2017 – 2018 saw Rs 72,705 crores as salaries for the Railway employees. This number is expected to reach Rs 76,451 crores in the upcoming 2018 – 2019 fiscal year.Meanwhile, insider sources in the government and Railway Ministry are hinting this mass recruitment as a ‘political move’ by the Centre. With less than 11 months for the General Elections announcement, mass recruitments like this will have a great impact on the polls, expressed a political analyst.
