Astrologer arrested after threatening Minister Achenna Naidu

The Sikkolu police (Srikakulam district) arrested an astrologer on charges of ‘blackmailing’ and ‘threat calls’ to minister Achenna Naidu. Addressing the media representatives, the police stated that, Murapaka Kaalidasu Sharma, a native of Parvathipuram Village, Vijayanagaram and his associate Josyula Sankara Rao, a native of Rayagada made threat calls.

Achenna Naidu along with his family took part in a religious ceremony conducted in Parvathipuram last year. This ceremony was headed by Kaalidasu Sharma himself. It is heard that the minister reportedly paid Rs. 80 lakhs for the performing the ceremony. With an intention to once again cash the minister’s weakness, Kaalidasu Sharma and his associate devised a plan.

Sankara Rao purchased a sim card on a different name. He called a close associate of the minister, claiming himself to be a Naxalite, and threatening to kill the minister. To further instil fear, Sankara Rao installed gelatine sticks along the path of Minister’s convoy. During a routine check, the police discovered the gelatine sticks, and further probed into the incident.

Finally, they arrested Sankara Rao, and later Kaalidasu. Both the duo has been produced in the court. Kaalidasu is well-known for aiding ministers and top-politicians, promising good political career and riches.

Hyderabad city boasts of Indira Park, Sanjeevaiah Park, Durgam Cheruvu as recreation spots for the Hyderabadis. But in recent times the youth have turned these parks and public into romantic hubs for their private affairs. Young couples are often found in an explicit situation in the parks. Families, who visit parks on Sundays, find it difficult to evade these scenes from their young children. The security personnel instead of forbidding young couples indulging in such acts are seen encouraging them.

In a stint carried by a news daily, the security guards are caught taking money from the young couples. Constant surveillance of police on hotels, motels and lodges drove the couples towards parks and public places for their sexual adventures. Taking this as an opportunity, the security guards are trading privacy for money.

The security guards are charging Rs. 500 from the couples to provide privacy for an hour. They are also advising deserted places, which are generally free from the crowd. If the couple’s pay Rs.50 to Rs. 200, they are advised secret places behind bushes and constructions within the parks.

According to the government laws, many of the parks should be closed by 8:00 pm. But these security guards, who are taking the money, are letting the couples stay until 11:00 pm. Several people have already filed a complaint against the prohibited and explicit activates going on in the parks.

Yes, command man has left Rs. 8000 crores, with no contact details, no address, and not even a nominee, with the PSBs – Public Sector Banks. And you know what, there are over 2.63-crore unclaimed accounts.

The number of unclaimed accounts doubled in four years. In 2012, there was 1.32 crore unclaimed accounts, while that number reached 2.63 cores in 2016. Similarly, the deposits lying in those accounts rose from Rs. 3,589 crores to Rs. 8,864.6 crores.

Out of these 2.63-crore unclaimed accounts, 47,00,000 accounts are with State Bank of India, with deposits of Rs. 1,036 crores. Punjab National Bank has over 23,00,000 unclaimed accounts with deposits worth Rs. 829 crores.

This situation usually occurs, when account holder stops transacting with the bank, or the bank has limited details about the account holder. For the record, only 50 out of 233 countries in the world has more than 2.63-crore population.

A police constable reportedly raped a 7-year-old girl in Gautham Budh Nagar, Greater Noida on Wednesday evening. The accused was identified as 45-year-old Subhash Singh, who came on Sales Tax Department deputation and was living in a rented house. He lured the young girl by offering her Rs. 10 and inviting her into the house.

What more worst was, he raped the young girl in front the girl’s brother. As the girl began to cry, he fled the place. On hearing the girl’s cry, neighbors immediately rushed to place and admitted the girl to the hospital. Subhash Singh, just like his usual self, came back the next day, only to be trashed by the locals. He is handed over to the police, an investigation is underway.

The stage is set for the execution of an Indian NRI living in the US on February 23rd. Raghunandan Yandamuri, 32, was given death penalty for killing a 10-month-old baby, Sanvi and her 61-year-old grandmother, Sathyavathi in 2014. Raghunandan kidnapped the baby for ransom and later killed her.

Raghunandan, who is a native of Vishakhapatnam, completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and worked in the US on H-1B visa. He made friends with a young couple Veena Prasad Reddy and Latha, who were living in Pennsylvania, US. The couple belonged to Hanumanthupadu Village, Prakash district.

After killing Sanvi, and Sathyavathi cruelly, Raghunandan took part in the search for the missing baby and the grandmother. He planned the murder so carefully, leaving no clue for the investigation agencies. The police arrested him after a letter demanding the ransom, written by him was found. The Judicial high court in Pennsylvania had given the death penalty to Raghunandan for the heinous crime he has committed. The execution is likely to take place by injecting a series of injections, consisting of a sleep-inducer, and followed by a lethal injection, into the criminal’s body. The death would be painless, as the criminal will be losing his consciousness after the first injection.

But the chances of his execution are slim, given the rules set by the Governor of Pennsylvania, and the past history. The state has not seen any executions in the last 20 years.

Indian Space Research Organization has achieved an astonishing feat after it successfully launching the 42nd flight of PSLV (Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle). This mission is marked as PSLV-C40, which soared into the skies carrying 31 satellites into outer space, of which 28 belonged to other nations, and 3 belonging to India. The launch took place at 0929 hours from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) or Sriharikota High Altitude Range (SHAR) rocket launch center. 

The 710 kg Cartosat-2F was the major payload on this flight. There were tense moments as the countdown neared for zero for the launch after the previous PSLV mission ended as a failure. Along with Cartosat-2F, a micro and a nanosatellite were put in space by ISRO. The Cartosat-2F marks the 100th satellite put by ISRO into outer space.

Cartosat-2F is the third in the Cartosat-2 series satellites. These satellites are primarily used as Earth Observation Satellite orbiting in the SSO (Sun Synchronous Orbit). The satellites house panchromatic and multispectral cameras, capable of producing images up to 1-meter resolution from an average altitude of 632km from outer space. These high-resolution images are used for Road Network monitoring, Urban and Rural planning, Utilization of Coast resources and for security purposes.The PSLV is the workhorse of the ISRO, standing over 145 feet tall, and weighing 2,20,000kgs. ISRO placed 104 satellites in a single launch last year.

Post the leaders meeting, JC Diwakar Reddy hinted that BJP and TDP are likely to form an alliance once again in Andhra Pradesh.

But I have never come across a project like this. Its multipurpose nature, the speed at which it is being constructed, is absolutely mind-boggling’.

Director of Hydrology, Nityanand Rai said, Kaleshwaram is the best project in the whole of India. The CWC inspection committee assured full co-operation from the Centre and called for a great working relationship on the project.‘The only thing to keep in mind is the upcoming rainy season, and the continuing the same speed of work until the completion of the project,’ said CKL Das.

More shockingly, the oil is being sold to roadside vendors who make junk foods, including snacks, and to fast food centres. This is not the first time such arrests took place in Hyderabad. Consuming foods prepared from these oils can lead to serious infections and diseases. In the past, few people complained about health problems, after consuming food at various meat-serving restaurants.The preparation of oil, burning and melting of the animal carcass and wastes makes the air toxic and noxious.

In our democracy, the political representatives who should lead by example, by good conduct often commit crimes. Such is the pathetic situation in the largest democracy in the world. Various social organizations working towards a better society are fighting against the social evils like dowry, caste system and even gambling.

The Sankranti festival is celebrated in a grand manner in villages. It is the same villages that are responsible for a blood sport called cockfight, where two roosters combat against each other, with one emerging as a winner. This sport involves betting up to a tune of Rs.1000 crores every year. There are recorded incidents in the history of Andhra Pradesh, where cockfights turned villages into burial grounds and were responsible for many homicide killings.

Such is the history of the blood sport. The Supreme Court has also banned the game, and the police department was issued special powers to restrict this sport. But shockingly, Thota Narasimha Rao, a Telugu Desam Party, TDP MP (Kakinada Constituency) took part in the banned blood-sport game. During the closing event of the ‘Janamabhoomi Maa Vooru’ program launched the AP CM Chandrababu Naidu, the MP reportedly took part in the sport, by inducting his rooster into the field.

The news soon spread like a wildfire in the state. Many social activists condemned the MP’s behaviour as irresponsible and immature. ‘This kind of act by public representatives will have a great impact on the common people,’ said an activist.

Political analysts feel that this latest incident will likely damage TDP’s and CM’s reputation both at the state level and at the Centre, given the strict order of SC to ban the game.

Adoni Revenue Department officials have been carrying out excavations at the Chennampalli Fort, Kurnool district from the past few months. The state media and NGOs across the state alleged that the excavations are a part of a treasure hunt at the fort. The Chennampalli villagers believe that the fort is home to gold ornament (and coins), diamonds and other valuable stones, belonging to the Vijayanagar Empire.

Officials from the Adoni Revenue Department confirmed the discovery of Quartz, Red Chip and Granite in large deposits, in the fort premises, during the excavations. Elephant tusks, three-headed cobra-hood ornament, human remains and other animal remains have been found previously.

The officials stated that the recent discoveries that have a great economic potential, and deeper excavations are underway. The Adoni RDO officials informed the Mines and Geology Ministry on the same.

The villagers are hoping, the discoveries of valuable resources could bring some fortune to their village, Chennampalli, in the form of infrastructural development. Politicians and big shots, in the Kurnool district, are already eyeing on the Chennampalli fort. The villagers are also deeply involved in excavation, at a small scale, in an effort to find gold, diamonds and precious stones.

World Bank has predicted that India’s growth rate could be 7.3% in the year 2018. It also projects that it can touch 7.5% mark in two years’ time.According to the 2018 Global Economic Prospect of World Bank, India is expected to reach higher growth rate when compared to other emerging economies in the next 10 years regardless of initial setbacks like Demonetization and GST (Goods & Services Tax).

It says that India has enormous potential looking at the larger picture of the economy.World Bank says, ‘India is going to gradually accelerate, contrary to China which is going slow.’

According to the reports, China’s growth rate is at 6.8% for the year 2017, just 0.1% more than that of India. While in the year 2018, the growth rate of China is going to be 6.4%. In the coming years, its growth rate would fall down to 6.3% and 6.2% respectively.
