Subramanian Swamy. The name that doesn’t need any introduction. The BJP leader is a renowned economist, lawyer, mathematician and politician. He is often considered one of the greatest intellectuals in modern Indian. Parallelly he ‘political analysis’ is put to the test.

Subramanian Swamy is considered as a nightmare to many corrupt Indian politicians. He is an academician-turned-lawyer. He has fought over 75 cases as a lawyer. He is remembered for his bravery during the emergency period in India.

CAG reported that a loss of Rs. 1.76 crores had incurred to the national exchequer due to the 2G scam.

The National Herald Newspaper case

The National Herald Newspaper was established by Late Jawaharlal Nehru and other freedom fighters in 1938. It was owned by Associated Journals Limited (AJL) until recently, before being acquired by Young India Limited (YIL).

Subramanian Swamy alleged that Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi established a shady corporate entity under the name ‘Young India’ with a capital of 50 Lakhs, to acquire all the shareholding of AJL and its properties, valuing somewhere around Rs.5000 crores. Swamy also accused the Sonia Gandhi, after Indian National Congress disbursed Rs. 90.25 crores loan to AJL in the past, which was never repaid. Swamy pointed out that it is violent of Section 269T of the Income Tax Act, 1961. After AJL was shut down, and reportedly sold to YIL, a debt of Rs. 90.25 to Congress Party was shown as ‘negative worth’. The Congress party gave an interest-free loan.

Jayalalitha – Disproportionate Assets case

Subramanian Swamy filed a ‘disproportionate assets’ case on the then Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Jayalalitha in 1996. This led to criminal prosecution and conviction of Jayalalitha and others involved in the named in the case.

After the case trail began, Jayalalitha was forced to step down after found guilty. Jayalalitha, who was termed as A1 (Accused 1) in the recent judgement of Supreme court was awarded 10-year jail term. After Jayalalitha’s death, Sasikala became the A1. She was awarded 4-years imprisonment and Rs. 10 crores as fine.

Only very few people know that Subramanian Swamy was an academician-turned-lawyer. His paper on ‘Notes on Fractile Graphical Analysis’ published in Econometrica 1963, got him a recommendation to Harvard, where he completed his PhD in just 2-and-half-years at the age of 24. He published his researched paper on ‘Index Number’ in 1974 along with Paul Samuelson.  

Subramanian Swamy has along history of troubling corrupt politicians on various fronts. He is also an a strong supporter of Hinduism and addressed various public gathering and meeting on ‘The need for Hindus to be united’. Though many see him as a self-centric and eccentric individual, his history speaks volumes. He is a renowned author on economics and a keen observer of India-China relations and global politics.

He is a distinguish Professors of Economics Harvard Business School, Cambridge, Massachusetts. He also taught economics in IITs. Subramanian Swamy played a key role in shaping India’s economy and guided the then Finance Minister Manmohan Singh and then Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao in creating economic blueprints in 1992. Even though Swamy was from BJP, he was also offered a cabinet seat in PV Narasimha Rao’s led Congress government.

Yet the opposition parties claiming to have the ideological strength and doctrine values are failing miserably. This is largely due to their failure in understanding the current societal needs and whether their doctrines and ideologies outfit the present society. It was a cold winter morning in Bihar. The Chaibasa treasury and offices of Animal Husbandry Departments (AHD) in Bihar were raided by then Deputy Commissioner of Chaibasa, Amit Khare.

Talking to a daily tabloid, Amit Khare said that he raided the AHD offices after finding abnormalities in the reports of ‘withdrawal of funds’ from the state’s AHD departments. Khare was quick to find that Rs. 7- Rs.8 crores, which was very high at that time, has been withdrawn, with hardly any activity in the past.

This made him raid the AHD offices. After he ceased the Chaibasa treasury and AHD offices with the help of local magistrates, instructing police to keep the records safely, Amit called up the District Animal Husbandry Officer (DAHO) and his subordinates and sought an explanation. They all fled away from their offices.

Khare was shocked to find bank drafts, a large number of fake treasury bills and cash in the DAHO office. The DAHO office and the subordinates’ offices were sealed. During his enquiry into the scam, Amit Khare was shocked to find out that irregularities of over Rs. 25+ crores (in 1991) took place, which is more than the state’s Animal Husbandry budget (which was around Rs. 20 crores – Rs 25 crore) at that time.

Khare said, ‘I am happy I did not waste my time worrying about my career and future.’ Special CBI court ruled Lalu Prasad Yadav guilty in this 2 decade-old case.

Resident doctors of AIIMS have urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to live their life for a day to experience the pressure they work under, backing their protests for higher pay and promotions.

They even wrote a letter addressing the PM, yesterday the RDA- AIIMS Resident Doctors’ Association requested the PM to understand the amount of pressure they are undergoing at government hospitals due to poor infrastructure and misbehavior of patients’ relatives during emergency situations.

They said, “We are lucky to have an active PM like you, Now RDA AIIMS requests you to put white apron and spend one day as a government doctor to understand the tremendous amount of pressure we face, the agony of patients who did not get treatment, the dying healthcare system due to lack of resources and infrastructure,” AIIMS RDA president Harjit Singh Bhatti wrote in the letter.

The president said this letter should set an example to all those ministers who level allegations against doctors for cheap publicity.

“Rajasthan doctors are on strike from December 16, this strike is helplessness rather than intentional because the state government arrested 86 doctors by imposing RESMA,” read the letter.

Earlier, the Rajasthan government accepted their demands but now they refuse it, which resulted in mistrust and anguish among the hardworking doctors. The letter requested the PM to instruct the Rajasthan government to fulfill their promises and stop all atrocities against doctors.

Two men were killed and at least 17 other people have been wounded in shootings across Chicago since Friday. This year too, the Christmas holiday weekend in Chicago started with violence. The most recent shooting hit Chicago on Saturday. A 21-year-old man who was sitting in his vehicle on the Northwest Side saw someone walking up to him and fired shots at him before running away, local news reported.

The man was shot in his left thigh and taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where his condition is stabilized, Chicago Sun-Times was quoted Chicago Police as saying.

In 2016, as well, 59 people were shot in Chicago over the holiday weekend, leaving 11 dead.

While the Chicago Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said a motive for the shooting was not immediately known, and investigators were trying to decide whether the shooting was a case of mistaken identity in ongoing conflicts among some gangs in the area. Further investigations are on to find whether the shooting could have been an attempted carjacking.

At least four people were wounded in the Friday shootings, while last weekend, five men were killed and at least 14 other people were wounded in shootings across Chicago between Friday evening and Monday morning.

The Railway Ministry has taken the decision to equip local trains (MMTS) with AC compartments along with existing general local trains. This will be carried out in phases in Hyderabad, Chennai and Bangalore local-train network. Few local trains would comprise of 12 AC Coaches. These special AC coaches feature automatic doors. Though this is a welcome move by many, few intellectuals are questioning its economic viability.

The addition of AC-coach trains to the existing MMTS in Hyderabad is really a welcome move. This leaves us with the question, is it really needed? MMTS Trains in Hyderabad run jam-packed during the peak hours. Most of them utilizing the MMTS belong to middle class and lower middle class. The cost would be a major factor in this scenario. If the railway authorities are planning to launch these AC-coach equipped local trains, they need to ensure that the frequency of the current MMTS trains is still maintained.

The officials cannot force the common man to travel at a higher price, just because they wanted to add the extravagance to the existing system. In order to accommodate these new bunch of trains will there be any change of timings of the existing trains?

The authorities should look into these aspects before adding the new AC-coach trains to the existing MMTS system.

Every single day we come across so many mishaps happening all around our country. You all must be puzzled about what I am talking about? I am taking the example of Rajasthan bus crashing into the railing of the bridge before the bus lost control of the vehicle and fell into the Banās River.

Let’s look into this particular incident, the news is coming out that the bus is driven by a 16-year-old conductor who lost control of the vehicle. In this mishap, including the driver and the conductor, 33 people lost their lives. My question “Is life so cheap?” The chances of survival look pretty bleak, as the bus fell off from a 100-foot high bridge in Sawai Madhopur district. Around 45 to 50 passengers were in the vehicle at the time of the accident and around 33 died that include 4 children and around 7 others suffered injuries.

The mortal remains are handed over to the kith and kin of the deceased families. Now, what follows is a routine drama, like usual, a routine autopsy has been performed, Prime Minister expressed his condolences, and the government assures close monitoring of the situation and providing assistance.

But is this what we require? How many times do we have to face such situations? Has life become so cheap? Why there are no proper measures taken at the beginning to start with? Who allowed a minor to drive the bus? Can we only blame the authorities of the bus or functioning of the society? Aren’t the people sitting inside the bus equally responsible?Don’t they know a minor is driving the bus? How did they allow this to happen? And if they did, can’t we say they overlooked it?

I am not just speaking of this particular incident. Recently we have seen a boat accident in Ongole. Private individuals have operated a particular boat without a legitimate license. The boat left the banks without adequate life jackets. The tourists were aware of the shortcomings and lack of life jackets. Most of them traveling on that ill-fated day were aware that the boat is not a local one, and the driver operating on that day looked to be a young man, without the proper knowledge of the water currents in the river and risk-prone areas. The accident did cost many lives. Following which, the government came forward to express their canny condolences and announced the ex- gratia.

The government and the society end up blaming each other in this kind of incidents. These are mere examples of many such accidents that don’t come to light in our Incredible India. The responsibility lies on both; the government and the society. Even if one passenger had voiced his opinion against the minor driving the bus on that ill-fated day, possibly, 33 lives could have been saved. The bus might have reached its destination in an hour’s delay. Now with lives lost, what is the point of bragging at each other?

Because no one is bothered about the society. Leave alone the elected members, the people themselves are least bothered about their lives. Everyone takes their life for granted. Everyone looks for cheaper and faster ways to reach their destination. Everyone overlook these little things.

It might look like you are obsessed when looking at these little things. But these little things make or break your life. Come ‘on people, for hell sake, start valuing your lives!

Owaisi further alleged that parties are trying to win elections by ‘communal and religious’ politics. ‘These two parties [BJP & Congress] nowhere mentioned about Muslims during their Gujarat campaigning. The victory of such parties in Gujarat is a clear sign of weakening democratic system in this country,’ said Owaisi.

Owaisi warned that Modi and BJP will be nowhere seen if their party also comes with political vendetta by bringing ‘religion’ into the picture.

Pendurthi Incident which happened a couple of days ago shocked everyone in the state as a Dalit woman was drugged and assaulted by a TDP leader in relation to a land dispute. A video was circulated which showed the women being dragged and her clothes were torn off by the offenders shown in the media. It is noted that the women constantly raised objections to the digging work on a piece of land which led to those leaders assaulting her.

The women registered a complaint on the next day of the incident with the Pendurthi village. Leaders from opposition party too raised questions about the TDP leader’s behavior. YSRCP leader Roja asked, about the woman TDP leaders and ministers when the incident occurred. She questioned why they are not speaking up for another woman.

Incidentally, Pawan Kalyan joined the movement and is looking for an explanation from the AP government about the assault, as it was apparently done by the members of the ruling TDP party. He even cautioned the government of serious repercussions that are similar to those in Rohit Vemula case if the government doesn’t address this matter seriously.

The Tiananmen Square protests or commonly known as June Fourth Incident is one of the most horrific events in the history of China. The nationwide protests took place between April 15th – June 4th, 1989 in over 400 cities in mainland China. After the aftermath that took place on June 4th, 1989 it was reported that 700 – 1000 people have died in the protests between civilians and the Army.

But the latest document that saw the light after 28 years has revealed spine-chilling truths about the incident. Then British Ambassador Alan Donald, who was in China sent a telegram to London. In his telegram, Alan stated, ‘Minimum estimate of civilian dead 10,000’.

This number not only contradicts the common figure given by the Chinese Media and some government agencies but also casts dark clouds on the Chinese history.

The British Ambassador’s telegram detailed the horrific events that took place between the night if June 3rd to June 4th. Over 2,50,000 soldiers from various parts of the country were brought to the Beijing after the government chooses to end the 7-week-long protests.

The value of BitCoin has skyrocketed in the past few months. BitCoin was valued at $700 (Rs. 44,834) in the month of January. The cryptocurrency shot to its record high of $19,666 (Rs. 12,59,526) on Monday (18th December 2017). Post that the currency came down by more than 30% to $13,1000 and now currently trading at $14,499.

It is clear that the cryptocurrency is more volatile than camphor itself. Given its volatile nature, few have made millions, while many have lost millions in the past. It is a fight between the classical model of finances versus the aggressive modern day economic system.

Billionaires like Richard Branson (Founder, Virgin Group) have been applauding the cryptocurrency, while JP Morgan CFO, Marianne Lake called Bitcoin ‘Fraud’. McAfee founder, John McAfee claimed that Bitcoin will move above $50,000 within three years in his tweet (on 17 July 2017).

Such is the volatile situation of the Bitcoin. One of the main reason for many government agencies and financial systems to reject the legalization of Bitcoin is its ‘lack of transparency’ and ‘no government control over it’. Many expressed that Bitcoin will crash to an all-time low, once people stop buying it in the future.

On Thursday, Former Cricketer, legend Sachin Tendulkar extended his desire to deliver his first speech in Rajya Sabha over the issue on the future of sports in India. However, members of Congress created ruckus seeking an apology from PM Modi for making allegations on Ex-PM Manmohan Singh by linking with Pakistan, in the process did not allow the master blaster to deliver his speech. This resulted in the adjournment of The Upper House till 11 am yesterday.

When the session began Sachin Tendulkar got ready to speak in the Upper House, while Congress MP’s disrupted the proceedings with loud slogans. Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu expressed his anguish on opposition MP’s for not allowing Sachin to speak.

Congress MP Renuka Chowdary slammed the ruling party and didn’t even spare Sachin in the process of defending the stand taken by her party. She lamented saying, Bharat Ratna is not a license for speaking in the Parliament. Sachin was nominated to the Upper House in the UPA tenure itself. He hardly attended the House Proceedings. Only out of 348 days sessions he attended 23 times. Why is BJP making a hue and cry when a member didn’t get the opportunity to speak?

Controversial Astrologer Venu Swamy yesterday was present in one of the noted Telugu news channel. He reportedly left the debate halfway stage announcing, “I don’t know Astrology, Don’t believe what I say!” This news is trending now and has gone viral on Social media.

Babu Gogineni who made a surprise entry into the live debate found fault with Venu Swamy. He didn’t agree with major predictions and statement made by Venu Swamy.  He went on to accuse that the astrologer is gaining publicity using morphed pictures. The Photo of Venu Swamy with PM Modi was found to be morphed and Babu Gogineni says when he enquired at the PMO office, they denied any such meeting with the astrologer. After this got exposed, Venu Swamy removed all those fake photos and threatened me alleges a TDP member.

Meanwhile, Venu Swamy alleged that Babu Gogineni of being Anti-Hindu, to which Babu Gogineni came with a clarification disapproving Astrology does not make an individual anti-religion. He spoke about Swami Vivekananda and Dayanand Saraswati disapproving it. Following this, a heated argument between the two took place in the news studio, and Venu Swamy staged a walk out. Before leaving the news channel he commented “Whatever I say is going to be absolutely false, don’t believe me! It’s up to the people to decide what they should believe and what they shouldn’t.

It was Powerstar Pawan Kalyan in many of his film events or launches or film programs claimed that he would never do any movie without comedian Ali in it as he feels the film looks incomplete with him. He was present recently, praying at Janasena’s new office inauguration and also gave a copy of Holy Quran to the powerful hero. So speculations are on rife, whether there is anything wrong between them? And where has that bonding gone?

It is interesting to note, that Ali did not act in Pawan Kalyan’s latest movie Agnathavasi which is directed by Trivikram. He was though part of the duo’s previous blockbuster Attarintiki Daredi, he’s nowhere to be seen now.

Sources say that Ali once expressed his wish to contest on Janasena ticket in 2019 elections, for which Pawan Kalyan is very upset that a good friend like Ali, has seen political benefits. But Janasena outrightly condemned the news.

Interestingly, the producers of Agnathavasi, Haarika and Haasini camp gave information that Trivikram was very much interested to bring the star comedian for a character but in between shoots Ali could not adjust dates as he was flying to the US at that point in time. Otherwise is all fine between Pawan and Ali, and even Ali recently gave an interview stating his own personal reasons for him to be not part of the movie and he is still good friends with Pawan and will remain.

Yes, what you read is absolutely correct. After getting nominated to Rajya Sabha, Sachin Tendulkar made an effort to speak for the first time in five years. He wanted to reach out to the public about sports and their necessity in our daily lives. As usual, the members of parliament, especially form the Indian National Congress party did not allow Sachin to even utter a single word. The Parliament session was adjourned abruptly.

But Sachin had found another way to reach to the public. He conveyed his message using ‘Facebook Live’ to millions of people. In his speech, he stated that ‘India should progress from a sport loving nation to sport playing nation. There are a number of benefits of playing sports both mentally and physically. Playing sports gave me freedom and helped me in achieving my goal.’

Meanwhile, the netizens lashed out at the Indian National Congress party for disrupting the parliament session and not allowing Sachin to speak. Few have expressed that the act of Congress shows is a clear sign of disrespecting a cricketing legend like Sachin Tendulkar.

The death mystery of former Chief Minister of Tamilnadu Jayalalithaa is getting murkier as the investigating commission in the incident has now summoned her close aide VK Sasikala as well as Apollo Hospital Chairman Pratap Reddy on Friday. The court asked them to file documents in relation to the death of Jayalalithaa within 15 days.

The government of Tamilnadu has organized a Commission of Inquiry that is headed by former Madras High Court Judge A. Arumughaswamy, to probe the circumstances and incidents that led to the death of Jayalalithaa. The summoning of Sasikala and Apollo Chairman by the commission comes in the wake of a video supposedly showing Jayalalithaa in a hospital appeared on the internet recently. It is to note that the video came into the picture just a day ahead of the RK Nagar by-poll elections on December 21.

The former Chief Minister and AIDMK supremo have spent 75 days in the Apollo hospital before breathing her last on December 5th last year. There are many reports of people raising doubts about the suspicious death, which included even the deputy chief minister Pannerselvam.
