Pakistan Prime Minister says – No war with India but Kashmir!
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that war is not an option with India, but only talks can resolve issues including Kashmir.
In a conference on ‘Future of Pakistan 2017’ at the London School of Economics South Asia Centre here on Saturday, he addressed the audience by describing Kashmir as a core issue with India and things will remain tense until resolved. He also said, they are always open to talks at any level and believed that only with talks they can move anything forward.
He said, ‘war is not an option’, we have a deterrent to that (Cold start Doctrine) but I don’t think deterrents, where both sides are nuclear powers, is any solution to the problem. He reinstated, that the only way to solutions is through dialogue.
Due to impending elections and preparations towards it, he thinks there is little hope for any significant movement for any bilateral talks between both countries. Mr. Abbasi said, expecting too much can be probably misplaced.
He dismissed any support for Independent Kashmir, as he says there is no basis to such floating information in reality.
Mr. Abbasi took charge of Pakistan government in August, claimed there was never a dull moment in Pakistan’s political life but still the country has achieved some stability in spite of challenges.
He concludes, saying Pakistan is fighting terror for the world and we are committed to fighting this menace.
